Location: The hotel is located on a small island without restaurants and markets. It's a little tricky to find an entrance when you are driving from Key West direction. They have a BBQ truck, which is only open on specific days. We went to the restaurant for around 8 minutes for dinner. It was a lot of area to sit and enjoy the view around. The pool was nice, but the weather was too cold for us to enjoy it. It's not heated. The view: We got a room on the water with a little terrace. It was an umbrella, two-night chairs, and a table on the terrace to enjoy the view! We loved the sound of the waves and the fantastic sunset view from our number. Check-in: it was a pretty fast check-in. When I asked about things to do in the area, the check-in person told me that most of the people just come for fishing here. Room: The room was pretty clean and well-equipped with a small fridge, microwave, coffee maker, TV, and air conditioner. Towels and bed shits were clean. Parking: parking is free. - they have some problems with kayak insurance, so we didn't get a chance to explore the area on a kayak. They don't have bicycles for over a year already, but they still have a check-in brochure mentioning bicycles. - The shower was a little too small, and plastic curtains touched your body. The curtains don't feel clean. - we wish the BBQ place was open during our stay. - it will be nice to have a couple of water bottles provided read more

I am renting here right now for the 4th of July. And just as stated above... People that are not staying here come over in golf carts and take over parking lots that are designated for the renters... But that's not the problem.... My father is in his late 70's and parks in the handicap... Due to the 8 golf carts and the truck that are not staying at the resort are blocking both handicap locations! The police had to come to remove the golf carts and give tickets to the illegally parked vehicles.. I was born and raised in South Florida and have been going to the keys for years! And for the amount of money we paid could have stayed in a much much better location! I will never stay here again and will tell everyone I know do the same... I am local so this word of mouth will be doing something about it! I don't ever write any reviews but this has been the worst experience ever staying in the keys and that is hard to say because I love the Florida keys! The only positive is the office manager who is very professional and polite and has been trying to accommodate and handled the situation to the best of his ability, but he is only an employee and his hands are tied.. Concerning the rooms, need to be remodeled asap... I would send pictures but I am embarrassed at the state they are in! It's like staying in a third world country! Update: had to check out on the 3rd day because water started coming from the wall located in the back of the kitchen .. all over the floor. I stayed here for about three days. Was a wonderful experience. All the rooms have a wonderful view. The staff on property could not have been more helpful. Very clean. With kitchens and full-size fridges it was great to have a beer on the deck at night. Ample parking. And they have a washer and a dryer on site. Extremely disappointed with this establishment. After many years of referrals a reservation was made by me with the wrong day. Upon check-in the error was found. No assistance was provided in correcting said error since a manager is never on site and communications can ONLY be made via email. Absurd! My only request was to provide credit for another day since the night intended was full to capacity. In the last month I had 4 families stay at this motel because of my referral this does not include the many many that have stayed throughout the years. Submitted several emails and made several phone calls all to no avail. Work ethics and follow up is certainly questionable. read more

I didn't have high expectations but due to a busy holiday weekend options for hotels were limited up and down the keys. But I'll tell you that we had such a lovely experience here. While there were minor issues with the room: a coffee maker that didn't work well, a shower that didn't drain well, and a super creaky bed, the property had a lot of amenities that made our short stay memorable. The view of the gulf from our room was lovely, and we enjoyed being able to step out on the deck and have our coffee at the big comfy table outside. We also spent a lot of time out on a dock, lounging, doing yoga, and sipping ice cold beers we were able to buy in the lobby. We were also treated really well at every turn by the staff. Very helpful and friendly people. This is a great place to stop on your way to Key West. Families would love it too, cause kids can go fishing off the dock or enjoy the pool. The price was so great that my expectations were low. Boy was I wrong! We stayed in the 2 bedroom cottage and everything we needed was provided. The pool was beautiful and the sunset was awe inspiring. I would definitely recommend this quaint little gem. read more

My friends and I stayed here in mid August and had a horrible daycation in this hotel. We stayed in the lobster room #9 and left next morning by 11 am. We did not have a nice experience and I would like to take the time to share it and warn future guests... While I waited for our room to be ready for us I walked around the property and read a biligual sign that said no loud music at all times. We started unloading our staff and from inside of the small closet, that the room has, I heard the sound of the music coming from the outside of the unit. Minutes later I found out that other guest was playing music with a personal speaker in one of the bbq shelters by the pool area. My friend and I decided to go for a bicycle ride. The hotel has two adult bicycles and a kids bicycle. One adult's does not work. It is broken. It has a problem in the crank/chain. So my seventeen year old friend had to ride the kids bicycle which is too small for a teenager. Came back after an hour ride and wanted to refresh ourselves in the pool but not only the pool was not clean, the temperature of the water was higher than the temperature outside. At this moment the speaker, that I talked about in the beginning, was unattended on one of the tables that the pool area has for the guest. The sound was loud one more time. No management presence but a woman wearing a blue t-shirt with a staff logo in its back was there ignoring the situation. After about hour and a half we went for a walk along the US1 and sound of the speaker could be heard from the other side of the road. That loud the noise was just steps away from the management office. We brought food to cook and eat in our stay in the hotel but the noise of this speaker never stopped at the point that we had to go elsewhere for dinner. My friends and I could not enjoy our stay and time at the property for these avoidable issues. The keys are such a beautiful place to enjoy nature and relax, the beauty of this place is having a pleasant and peaceful time. This place is a trap where you cannot go somewhere else without driving miles from this property. Nothing absolutely nothing to do around. Also I have to say the room was clean, three beds, fridge, tv, etc. Perfect for a relaxing day in the keys. Unhopefully we found the oposite in this place. read more

Heaven on mile marker 66! What can I say...This is my forever vacation spot at the Keys. We stayed at the townhouse and it was amazing. Fully equipped and just perfect. Nanny and Johnny (managers) were super friendly and accommodating. Sergio was a sweetheart as well. The place is just quiet and relaxing. The sunsets are to die for!!! Bikes and kayaks are free to use. Docks for you boats and jet ski, it is also a perfect fishing spot. I can't wait for next summer :) read more

I arrived in the keys yesterday and my first night was great. The building we're staying in was a little run down, but nowhere near unlivable. Relatively low price for a waterfront with a view and space for at least 6 people, AND a pool. Other than the slight run-down-ness 5 stars. read more

My family stayed stayed at Edgewater lodge for 3 nights. The rooms are very basic, but clean and come with everything you might need for your stay, ex. small kitchen with an oven. While the accommodations are nice, the real reason one would stay at the Edgewater lodge is the location. It is gorgeous. The view right of of the door of your room is beautiful and relaxing. The hotel is very laid back, and not overcrowded. If you are looking for a more relaxing low key vacation, i highly recommend Edgewater lodge. The hotel recently came into new ownership and is clearly undergoing a make over. I look forward to coming back and seeing what the new owners have improved. read more

This spot is great! My Granddaughter and I stayed for a get a way and it was perfect! I felt very at home and comfortable. I can't even begin to tell you how pleasant the staff were to us. Rooms were clean, and the pool was great. Everything took little effort.. I must say it's a great place to stay if you want a few weeks or more as the unit I was in had a full size fridge and gas stove, with utilitarian needs. The Edgewater Lodge is a perfect vacation spot if you're a serious fisher who likes to catch and cook up your own meals. But even if you're not into fishing, it's still a great place to stay just for the views alone. We stayed here for two nights because we couldn't find a decently priced room in Marathon Key. This meant a lot of driving back and forth to Marathon or Islamorada for meals because there really aren't a whole lot of dining options on Long Key itself. But if we had been staying longer, we could have stocked up on groceries and never left the lodge because the rooms here are well-appointed with everything you could need. The Edgewater Lodge offers motel rooms, efficiency rooms, and poolside cottages. The last two come with fully equipped kitchens (including a small stove, refrigerator, microwave, cooking implements and utensils, and free coffee for the coffeemaker) and a dining area, while even the motel rooms come with a small refrigerator. All occupants can use the guest facilities such as the fishing pier, the boat ramp, a bait shop, a sand beach, a pool, and a laundry area, while almost all rooms offer spectacular waterfront views of the Florida Bay and access to both the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico. Nice location....everything else trash. Staff is rude and not friendly at all. They will talk shit about you in Spanish. Asking to see your wristband 24/7. They also towed our car and we had to pay $450 to get it back. Dealing with this our whole vacation makes me never want to come back here again. read more

Okay, let's roll the calendar back to the 1950s. Then picture a roadside motel from that era, 50 miles from Key West but on the water. There was a tiki bar, a small beachfront, decks with chairs in some of the rooms. We stayed in "Lobster 9" which is handicapped accessible. Honestly huge. There was small kitchen with appliances, some cooking and serving stuff, full sized refrigerator. Table with two chairs. Then there was a small living room with a sofa and a largish flat screen tv. The bedroom had two double beds, a small flat screen tv, a dresser, electrical outlets galore. My only complaint is the mattresses were pretty squishy, not at all firm. The bathroom was huge and truly accessible with a massive roll-in shower. Good water pressure and plenty of hot water. Plenty of towels and extra linens in the closet. The rooms were sparkling clean. That's a biggie for me. And we booked thru hotels.com (sorry, yelp, but we need to know prices, not just $ signs) for $112 a night including taxes. The receptionist was very pleasant and we had the impression the place was family owned and run. Oh, another plus, assigned parking places. We would definitely go back. read more

This is an amazing place to stay! The staff are all great and very attentive. The kayaks and paddle boards are in good condition and there are plenty to go around. The rooms are clean and comfortable. It's next to a bridge that has good fishing. It's a good idea to do some grocery shopping on the way because finding a decent place to eat on Long Key is a challenge. I would definitely stay at the Edgewater Lodge again! read more

Johnny not only made the check in easy and convenient but he went above and beyond for our every need. The rooms are clean and very spacious. We happened upon this place based on the awesome yelpers' who exposed this hidden gem. We literally booked on the fly within an hour with a very patient person who answered all of our questions, took our information over the phone as we were barreling down route 1 in a convertible rental very difficult to hear !! Despite the difficultly hearing the person answering the phone immediately made it clear how happy we would be with the cottage available looking over the water and also encouraged us to checkin early even though our cottage wouldn't be ready until later. The staff was soooo friendly and Jorge, the property manager or owner? ended up sending us over a complimentary bottle of wine after we joked with him we would consider upgrading to the townhouse when he suggested a bottle of wine to help us decide as a joke....we didn't due to our schedule but he sent a bottle over from his home collection anyways! The townhouse was beautiful but#4 right over the water was perfect for our one night venture! We sat on the dock and saw schools of various fish, pelicans and other birds, caught a beautiful sunset using free kayaks, saved $$$ making our own cocktails and dinner /breakfast...publix about 15" away. Such a personable place with an awesome staff. Free coffee and continental breakfast. Full fridge, gas stove, microwave, typical amenities. May want to bring your own pillow if u can....only negative I can say was pancake pillows. This place is easy to miss it's at the end of the bridge if u miss it. read more

My husband and I came to Edgewater purely by accident. We had a reservation at another hotel, but it wasn't gonna be available until the next day so needless to say we needed a place to stay last minute. Even though it was already late, the owner of the hotel was very kind and understanding, and helped us right away. She even saw to it that we got a room right on the water! Even though it is simple and quaint in decor, this place has all the amenities that a five-star hotel already has without the five-star price tag. Great place. Fit just what we wanted. Rooms are not huge, but don't need to be. We stayed in #6 I think, called Mahi Mahi. We could walk out the slider onto the dock and swim and watch the boats come and go. The chairs on the deck gave the perfect spot to watch the sunset. The manager was great, very helpful and kind. I went with a large group and we really had a great time. We stayed in the cottages with a beautiful view of the water with close access to the boats and fishing. There was a bait store and on site fishing charter captain which was very convenient. For those who want to fish its perfect as the fishing close to shore and even from the docks was great. You're right in the middle of the keys so Key West isn't too far away and the restaurants and nightlife in Islamorada is close as well. Overall its all you can ask for in a Keys resort, at a great price! read more

BEWARE PLZ READ...when we stayed here we rented a kayak and in order to rent you have to leave your card and ID untill you return it. I can under needing a down payment or card on file but why did they need both we did it tho as this is how they run things but the next day 3 transactions came on my card for 3 online purchases for BJ wholesale store which we did not do for over $1,000 and I was on vacation for a week and only used my card 2 time as the rest of the trip we used my husband with that being said it could only be 2 places here or the other place but to do online purchases with BJ you need to enter the zip which conveniently they had so I reached out to the owners email to let him know of what happened so he can check the cameras to see the person at the front desk so this doesn't happen to anyone else and he blocked my email with no professional response to look into then we found out later the guy at the front was his nephew so beware not worth the stay as a lot more issues with service and room with the stay but was over looking this till our card was used fraudulent and seeing they didnt care and blocked me makes them seem guilty. BEWARE not worth it stay clear and safe going to somewhere your personal info is safe and that cares when something happens. read more

Absolutely LOVED Edgewater. Beautiful views, clean well-cared for grounds. The staff at Edgewater are one of a kind (while preparing to check out, a staff member notified us of a flat tire, then proceeded to change it for us even though we had the knowledge to do so ourselves) they offer delicious FRESH breakfast in the morning that you can either carry back to your room, or take down to the beach. We only stayed one night, and managed to see a slew of marine life. Nurse sharks, ghost crabs, hermit crabs, rainbow parrot fish, & an octopus. The staff here seem to truly care about their guests happiness, and they make you feel welcome. I'll start off by saying Joea and Sergio (and whichever other management were involved in our odyssey) are very helpful people. We didn't notice on the website that the office closed at 9PM, so when we left a message at 9:30PM and arrived at 11PM, just Joea was there as the night watchman. He called Sergio who made a fast trip of over 30 miles after midnight to let us in and give us the room. He also picked up a speeding ticket on the way! He declined to let us cover the cost of the ticket too. I sure hope he can deduct it as a business expense! And then the next day Sergio & Joea offered to feed us for free the whole day to apologize for OUR error. The motel room we got was small, comes with a powerful air conditioner that really needs a baffle to keep the breeze off the people sleeping, and had a minor problem with the hot water faucet in the shower. Not a big deal really if you're into cozy cottage places. My wife really enjoyed the (free) hot dog she got from the food truck that's a part of the resort. And the view from outside the cottage deck is wonderful. read more

My husband and I LOVE coming here. Our first trip was in March of 2014, we stayed here as the pictures on their site were beautiful, and their room prices are not bad either. The pictures just don't do it justice in my book. Some of the lodges are literally on the water, with the sliding doors and the back porch hanging over the water. You can see reef fish on their boardwalks too! The staff is also very friendly. You are also allowed to rent for free their canoes and paddle boards which you can take out to go look at the rail car just in front of their condo building and get to see so many fish! Our second trip here was March of 2015. He proposed to me on the back deck during a sunset! I forgot to mention the sunsets here are stunning! Our third trip was in May of 2016 for our honeymoon. Still as beautiful as the first time we went. We rent the rooms that have the kitchenettes available, so we don't have to constantly eat out for all of our meals. Nothing better than cooking mere feet from the ocean and being able to sit at the table and look out over the sea. The location is also great. Right between Islamorada and Marathon where you can get all your needs, fishing and grocery. Plus the drive down to Bahia Honda and Key West from here are not bad at all! We love taking that drive though. If you love the ocean side cottage feel instead of the mundane plain hotel rooms, this is the place for you. Over all we plan on continuing to stay here on our trips down to the Keys and I highly recommend them. read more

A family of around 50 showed up on our second night and took over the entire beach from 8AM to 11PM, blaring music and taking up each of the decks in front of our unit and all of the beaches besides the one besides the busy road... On the second day of nonsense, we asked the front desk about their coolers being left out all night, so along with their trash, and then about how when we laid our stuff on the beach the family took our beach chairs from us. The rude woman at the front desk's only response was "well they were probably there first" and that it was "first come first serve" at which point i mentioned how the family was net fishing, though there were clear signs not to do that, how they used the pool until 11, though it closed at 7, and how they blared their music all day, against noise ordinance laws. Her response was that they could get us more chairs. Don't bother here. The rooms were renovated last in maybe the 70s by the looks of it. Some of the staff is rude, though others were nice. Its not worth the amount you pay for your experience to be taken over by another family, only to have staff say they don't really care. There are better units in the same price range in the area. read more
