For an impromptu visit to Key Largo, Sunset Cove turned out to be the best place we could have ever picked to stay! First, this is a dog-friendly resort. We were informed at check-in that not only are certain cottages dog-friendly, but dogs are also welcome at all of the amenities: private beach, the dock, kayaks, paddle boards, tiki huts, everywhere! As said however, only certain cottages are pet friendly, so keep an eye on that when booking. Second, we had our own little private cottage, fully equipped with a kitchen, bathroom, beautiful television, and our own parking spot. We stayed in Cottage #4, which is adjoined with Cottage #5 - we could not hear our neighbors! It was very private and very cozy. Our cottage was a less than 1 minute walk to the beach. They have chairs, benches, and tables set up along the beach, first come first serve. The water is beautiful and clear. The water starts out sandy (perfect for kids and pets!) and then turns into a beautiful ecosystem of fish, coral, and sea grass (perfect for snorkeling!). Complimentary bicycles, kayaks, and paddle boards are also available first come, first serve. They have life jackets available, too. We checked-out the paddle boards and took our puppy out for her first experience. It was so fun! Off the dock, you can park your boat (I believe there may be an additional fee) - you can also fish off the dock; one visitor caught a handful of mangrove snapper. While we didn't catch anything, we saw plenty of fish just below (some at least a foot long!) This resort is also very close to restaurants, shopping, and more (within walking distance!). The private beach actually connects to a beautiful restaurant next door; however, beware! That restaurant is not dog friendly :( Overall, we fell in love with Sunset Cove and cannot wait to come back for another trip! Highly recommend!

Stayed here for a family trip and we had a wonderful time. If you're looking for a modern, super snazzy location this isn't exactly it. It is though very quaint, cozy, and quiet and great for families! Our rooms were clean upon arrival and everything worked well. Housekeeping was great. I did notice a few towels with hair on it but nothing too crazy. My first con was the filter of the a/c. It needed to be changed and I could see the dust in the filter. This made it a little hard to breathe at night because of my allergies. However, our room was overall, cozy. Staff were friendly and helpful. The older gentleman was really nice and even followed up with me regarding my final payment. The second and last con was the parking situation for additional vehicles in your party. There were spaces on the property for which they charged us to park (as advertised!) but in the grand scheme of things it still seems like a silly fee for guests.

Cute and kitschy and clean. Stayed in a kitchenette cottage and was charmed by the dinosaurs and other animals on display. Annie at the front was awesome and friendly. Went kayaking. They also have SUPs. The waterfront is pretty and there hammocks and ditto areas throughout as well as a cozy table and chaos in front of the cottage. Slightly less expensive than the "resorts" but definitely a taste of what the Keys were like 20 years ago. Wi-Fi, hairdryers all the modern touches but with the feel of a mom and pop place from the 70s

JUST GOT TOLD TO DRIVE 8 hours back home! Lost my drivers license not allowed to check into hotel. The manager told me the owner won't speak to anyone and the resort policy does not state that. Very upsetting. Got treated overly horrible. The manager raising her voice rolling her eyes and all. Been staying here over 8 years family as well.

Would highly recommend staying at this adorable resort ! We stayed in the hideaway room with 2 adults , 2 kids . The small beach area was great for the kids to play in and the dock caught the most gorgeous sunsets . We will definitely be back to enjoy sunset cove !

This is our second time staying here and it was just as great if not better than the first time we were there. The sign out front says "special rates", we did in fact get a pretty hefty discount. We thought it was probably because there was not many people around, we were the only ones there for the first couple hours but then the place did fill in pretty quickly. We had a cute room down by the water with such a beautiful view. There are 2 restaurants very close and they had live entertainment So we benefitted from that without having to go to the restaurant, It ended early enough so that it wasn't playing late and didn't disturb us at bedtime. Inside the cottage everything was spic & span clean, very organized with dishes, a microwave, coffee pot, toaster and a larger than apartment size fridge. The room was small but big enough for the two of us. The bed was comfortable although it made noise just as we sat on it and again turning over in bed. The noisy bed was the only complaint we had. The woman at the front desk , Jusella was very nice and accommodating. They offer kayaks but we didn't get a chance to use them. I highly recommend this adorable spot in paradise.

Another incredible experience at our favorite vacation spot in the Keys! The owners, the general manager Robin, front desk Amanda, and the entire staff are always gracious and attentive. The cottages are well maintained: AC, TV, internet are all perfect. My 4 year old daughter demands we go there; the little beach right on the property is perfect for a swim and the dock is available for fishing. Restaurants are all in walking distance... just an ideal vacation spot for the family. Also note that on this trip, my daughter met fellow guests from Germany and Holland and had the best time meeting these other kids from Europe showing them how to play the "Ring Toss" in the central located tiki hut. Not a hotel; MUCH better as it provides a compete Keys experience as opposed to some boring, sanitized corporate building .... Highly recommended!

We had an excellent stay. Cottage 1 was fully renovated and beautiful!! Super clean. Staff was awesome. We loved having a kayak and paddle board available. The beach was wonderful too!

Latest stay...spent more time here this year and the place and facility was as good as ever after Irma passed through....love the retro-style of the whole place!

A hidden gem. We wanted a quick getaway and The Sunset Cove delivered that for us. We originally booked for only one night but enjoyed it so much we stayed an extra night. The rooms were immaculate. Staff were friendly and helpful. I booked through Expedia and received a great rate. The manager honored the same rate for the second night. We stayed in the Sand Dollar which sits by the water but is on the smaller side. We also stayed in the Bayview which was perfect. It also had a little more privacy. We will definitely be back.

My friends and I had an amazing weekend here lounging by the pool, paddling with the kayaks and paddleboards they offer, and eating at all the amazing restaurants they have within walking distance. I was a little skeptical at first when I realized they didn't have a bar and didn't offer breakfast, but it ended up being a blessing cause we brought what we liked to drink and ate all the amazing local food without having to get in the car. The room was HUGE and we loved that it had two bathrooms, everything was so luxurious and the showers were amazing. The beds were super comfortable (my other friend slept on the Murphy bed and said it was great). The pool was big enough that we were able to have privacy if we wanted or socialize with the other guests if we wanted. Everyone was nice and we had a great time talking to the other guests. The pool was gorgeous and the view was amazing! Don't miss out on this gem.

While the…read moreproperty itself is absolutely stunning and the on-site staff during the event were ok, the nine months leading up to the wedding were incredibly frustrating. Communication was consistently poor--weeks would go by without any response. We were promised a Florida Resident Discount by two different general managers, but it was never honored. (This is a significant discount that we did not get as promised). In total, we went through four general managers, each making new promises that never materialized. Even weeks before the wedding, when we were trying to make final payment, we couldn't get a response. When I finally raised concerns with the newest manager, her response was, "I have like six brides all contacting me at once." With all due respect, that's not how you handle a time-sensitive, stressful situation for a bride and her family. To add to the confusion, their website still showed units available just days before our event--even though we had rented out the entire resort. The units themselves are not equipped as expected either--we had to go out and purchase basic items like dish towels, a dish scrubber, pot holders, and more. Their new lanai roof leaks and ruined a couple of the custom built items we thought were safely stored since it's a brand new structure. If you decide to do a wedding buyout here, I highly recommend hiring a strong wedding planner to handle the communication challenges. Also, make sure to get everything in writing--the staff turnover is significant, and verbal promises don't seem to carry over.

As Hilton Gold members, we were fortunate to receive a small room upgrade at booking, which we definitely appreciated. Let me start with the highlights the resort amenities are wonderful, especially for families. There were plenty of complimentary activities for kids during the day, and even fun nighttime events like dancing that were adorable and well thought out. It truly felt family-friendly, and there was always something going on to keep everyone entertained. The cutest was Santa pics with cookies and milk! The staff was attentive and kind throughout our stay, and honestly, that goes a long way. Great service can elevate an entire experience, and they really delivered on that front. That said, at nearly $1,000 per night during peak season, I did expect the facilities and rooms to be in better condition. The property has so much potential, but parts of it felt a bit rundown for the price point. The rooms could use some attention and deeper cleaning. I completely understand that this is a beachfront resort and sand is inevitable however we noticed quite a bit of sand throughout the room, even on the bed when it had been freshly made. I've stayed at other beach resorts where housekeeping was a bit more thorough in that regard. However nothing crazy but cleanliness is big in my book. One morning, there was also a cockroach at the coffee cart. My husband reported it right away to the front desk. The next few mornings the cart wasn't out, and I'm assuming they were addressing the situation, which I appreciate but it was still a bit off-putting. The on-site restaurants were good not extraordinary, but enjoyable and I felt the pricing there was fair considering it's a resort property. Overall, we had a great experience. The resort has incredible potential, and with a little more attention to upkeep especially considering the premium nightly rate it could easily be a five-star stay. The friendly staff and activities made a big difference.

So Baker's Cay was unable to contact him to let him know the suite he had booked for us with an amazing looking bathtub would not be available due to it not being fully completed with construction. So when we arrived they told us the room wasn't available. My heart sank. I know his sank twice as hard. He has his new wife with his wonderful plan to give her a beautiful bathtub and suddenly it all fell apart. The front desk was so kind though and I truly felt like they cared and felt terrible about this mistake. They really made up for it by giving us so many perks throughout our stay, including a beautiful room with the most amazing view. A shout out to their concierge, Ashley, who really assisted us in booking things! Now that aside, the resort itself is just soooooo relaxing! It is the perfect spot for a honeymoon or any kind of romantic celebration. We loved the love locks they sold in the gift shop and hung ours on the love lock arch. They offer floats, which we were gifted complimentary because of the mix up, and we had a private one. I haven't been that relaxed in a long time, just floating out in the water. Everything we ate was fantastic! Including room service, which was always quick to arrive. My favorite thing was the quesadillas at Dry Rocks! And the chicken dish at Calusa. One day we were going to head down to Key West, but just decided to stay at the resort because it was so wonderful to chill at. We reserved a daybed that day right at the water's edge. They set it up with towels and water and we were able to order food. Even the aforementioned quesadilla. I was in heaven. They have bikes you can use too. Those were fun to ride down to Shell World and get some souvenirs. There's also a pool with a wonderful jacuzzi that is hot, private and has strong jets! This was just the most wonderful honeymoon! Despite no tub, I was a happy wife! And happy wife, happy life, right?

We had a bungalow that was beach front and it was really beautiful. We loved sitting on our little porch and just enjoying the views. The quiet side of the beach (where our bungalow was located) had really nice ambiance. There are sun chairs everywhere. Beautiful string lights and tiki torches for night time. Outdoor beach beds with curtains and lounge beds with visors you can pull down. The bungalow itself has an indoor shower and also an outdoor soaking tub and shower. You get your own bikes to ride around the property. The air conditioning was very good. The sheets were lovely. Everything was clean and in good working order. It also felt very private. We loved the breakfast buffet. The fruit and pastries were our favorites. We also loved Bogey and Bacall's. We didn't love Sea Senor's as much, although it was really fun and beautiful eating right by the beach. The food was just a bit bland. Another thing that I didn't fully realize until we got there was that there isn't a traditional beach. There is sand but it is lined by a rocky coast. You can swim in the ocean and you access it by stairs. So that is something to keep in mind. The pools were lovely and clean. But they could be bigger and maybe have like a water feature or something to improve the ambiance. The pools all close at sunset. Which also was a bit of a bummer and we weren't sure why. But we enjoyed swimming in them. We also didn't realize that seating around the pool is limited and if we wanted to have chairs by the pool, we'd have to get there early and save seats. The spa was incredible. We got a couples massage and it was one of the best massages I have ever had. Definitely recommend going there and treating yourself. Overall our experience was wonderful and romantic and relaxing. The only thing that prevents me from wanting to go back is not having a traditional beach where you can just walk into the ocean and swim. But if that isn't a priority for you, this place is absolutely wonderful!

Location - The hotel is right off of Interstate 1 and in the middle of Key Largo. You are just down the road from a Publix, shopping center, and a number of restaurants. John Pennecamp State Park is really close as well. Rooms & Building - The hotel is going for a retro tropical tiki vibe. It is probably not for everyone but I digged it. Rooms are spacious and offer the typical Hampton Inn layout. The grounds were not like typical Hamptons though, well manicured and full of beautiful tropical plants. This location had a much more Hilton resort vibe without the resort price. Amenities - The hotel had a small beach area that overlooked the ocean. You can borrow kayaks to take out on the water but it was so windy the day we were there, you would have no luck getting anywhere (we watched a poor couple try to no avail). There is a pool with a pool bar but everything was so cold, it was closed and the pool was somewhat uncomfortable to swim due to the temps and wind, so we passed. Food - Pool bar was closed but we did enjoy the free breakfast buffet. Typical Hampton Inn offerings including make your own waffles, eggs, breakfast meat and an assortment of continental offerings. My kids loved that there was a ton of toppings (including key lime syrup!) available for the waffles, we made some pretty crazy combos. Vibe - Easy going and super friendly staff. No complaints. Reality vs. Online - Pictures that I saw on their website and online matched the quality and condition of the hotel and rooms in-person. No surprises. Price & Final Verdict - It was more than what I normally would pay for a Hampton Inn at $240 a night but the Keys are spendy during tourist season. Too bad it was so cold it didn't feel much like it! Oh well, our MN luck. Weather aside, the property was nice and it would have been cool to utilize the water sports and water area. On a nicer day, I feel like these would be great bonuses to the property and added value to the stay. If I'm back in Key Largo, I'll give this place another view.

Such a romantic, charming, scenic venue! The management is very kind, accomodating, focused on guest saisfaction, plus you can tell put much love into it. Highly recommend!!!

Stayed in the Conch Villa as part of a pretty large wedding event. The first impression when…read moredriving into the place was, "What could possibly be back here that is going to work for a wedding?" However, the answer to that was surprisingly great. The villas have separate rooms with common areas and the one I was in had three bedrooms. The bedroom situation was similar to a hotel room. A nice comfortable bed, a private bathroom, generous closet space, and - most importantly - a good stable temperature even with the thermostat being out in the hall. A ceiling fan helps with circulation, which is great too. The only real downside I can think of is that two of the bedrooms are on the second floor, and you need to take this into account with your luggage as there are no elevators. Well, that and the fact that the finish of the stairs blend into the floor at the bottom so if you are older this might make for a physical perception problem as well. Anyway... Parking is a little tight when the place is full, but the location worked out really well for the wedding ceremony. Out on the point you can see the sunset across the water in the evening. Manatees frequent the dock which are a sight to behold. Across the dock there was a nice flat area on hard sand that was perfect for the reception. Yes, there are water activities including dolphin interactions across the boarder from what are the villas, but I can't make any comment on that part since I didn't manage to even visit over there.
