Resort itself is beautiful. Pool and kayaks are great. Cleanliness on the other hand is bad. We got the airstream and it had lots of bugs and visible mold. Stained sheets and scratched/peeling walls.

Beautiful. So much more than we had imagined. And we imagined a lot. From the moment we pulled in, we felt an air of non-pretentious exclusivity. Perfect. The rooms were spacious, clean, modern- elegant. The grounds were peaceful and beautiful. Lush with wildlife-- a collection of palm species, orchid bulbs flourishing amongst the trees, exotic flowers and their fruits, blossoming. The sounds of nature pervading. We could have spent our entire time walking through the grounds and enjoying the flora & fauna that's been cultivated. As a wannabe/ 100% non-nature buff who oh-so-badly wants to love the great outdoors but is also oh-so-very (very) not ok with an insect-- any insect-- coming into my periphery: this place allowed to me don my nature-lover cap without having to worry too much about any critterycrawlingcreepies. The pool, kayaking, bikes, paddle boards: wonderful add on. Cherry on top of the nature-cap. The showers, sheets, and views were relaxing, comfortable; so much so that my girlfriend request I praise them as "divine" here. Writing this review as we plan out our next vacation there. TL;DR: Yes. So v much worth it. Si. Yes. Do it. Just do it Reserve it. Yep. Yes.

We rented the entire resort the weekend of my daughters wedding, everything was wonderful. The staff was very accommodating-especially Lana. The grounds were beautiful and it felt very secluded from the rest of Key Largo-our own private paradise!

    Amazing water front view

Only reason for 5 stars is that I can't give 6. Luxurious resort, private, quiet and secluded beach area. Villa was spectacular. We will definitely stay again.

    Welcome to Paradise!

'Paradise' We spent five wonderful days at Largo Resort. We celebrated our daughter's 21st while we were there. To say they went above and beyond for us, is an understatement. Every person working at the resort was really lovely. Victor gave us great local knowledge and tips on where to go! We had a minor issue with our first room - Sabrina upgraded us to the most amazing house! She completely overcompensated for such a minor issue, but it made the trip even more idyllic. The housekeeping staff went to great lengths decorating my daughter's room to wish her a happy 21st. Our younger kids had a blast in the pool, we met some new friends and had barbecues by the pool. We had encounters with the biggest (friendly!!) iguanas I've ever seen! Our room view was like a postcard. There are complimentary paddle boards, snorkeling gear, kayaks and pool toys available on site, as well as the use of the Weber grill - we used them all several times. The location is excellent, right next to Dolphins Plus and John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park, as well as restaurants supermarkets etc. The finishes in every room are very high end, the attention to detail is meticulous, from the towels to the toiletries, the beds and bedding - everything feels luxurious. Overall, I cannot rate this place enough. We will most definitely be back .. if you're going to Florida Keys - go here - you will be glad you did!

Didn't want to review this because I don't want more people finding out about this hidden gem! Amazing experience, great customer service and awesome rooms. Will be coming back!

My husband and I and 2 of our kids (ages 15 and 11) stayed here for 2 nights in April. I was a little reluctant to book it because I could only find a couple of reviews online and I think one said it wasn't in a great area. My family LOVED it here. I believe we were in Twilight (can't believe I've already forgotten!) This is a SMALL resort. There are just a few duplex-type cottages and then one large house that can be rented. This means that it is NOT crowded. It feels like an oasis. When we arrived, they were playing oldies music from speakers hidden along the pebble driveway. It was fun and happy. The 'lobby' for check-in is a converted old Airstream RV. The gal wasn't particularly friendly, but she was fine. When we walked into our cottage, we were thrilled. It was so beautiful and plenty of room for all of us. The master bathroom was GORGEOUS, and even the second bath was really pretty. There was a nice sitting area where we could all sit and watch TV or read for a bit. There was a second TV in the bedroom... a must for my husband. There were cute beach towels hung by the door that were changed each day. The walkways have tropical trees with amazing orchids growing right on them. It was fun to just stroll along and take photos of them. The pool was heated, so even a pool wimp (hate cold) like me could enjoy a nice dip in the pool. There were never more than 2 or 3 people at the pool when we were there, and we mostly had it to ourselves. A family had rented the big house and had a wedding on the little pier while we were there. It was fun to get to watch from a distance. There are awesome huge lizards/iguanas wandering around and some amazing birds visited, too. You CAN go into the water from the small beach there, but there's a lot of plant life growing and it just didn't look very appealing. We stuck to the pool. They had some sun floatation things for the kids, too. The sunsets and view are beautiful. None of us wanted to leave, although after a couple days, we had run out of things do in Key Largo. I would recommend this place to anyone. It was beautiful and spacious. Downside: No food/store/vending at all. You have to pretty much drive down the road to get to any food/drinks. Stop at the store and get some drinks. (You have a mini-fridge.)

While staying here, my wife and I met the owner and we actually joked with her that we didn't want to review this place because people would find out about it and we couldn't keep it to ourselves! It's THAT good. While you'll hear the term "hidden gem" almost everywhere in the Keys, the Largo Resort is unlike any other hidden gem we've ever found. It is a gated, small scale resort that you would NEVER just stumble upon. Once you enter the gates, it is truly paradise. The bungalows are well appointed and tastefully finished with European fixtures and design but retain a "Keys" charm. The infinity pool is incredible and overlooks the Tarpon Basin, which is home to numerous yachts and sailboats. There is an oversized dock which is used for wedding ceremonies but is perfect for catching a Keys sunset. Kayaks and paddle boards are available for no extra charge to roam the open water if you so desire. You are also a very short distance from numerous great restaurants which is an added bonus. We will definitely be back.

As Hilton Gold members, we were fortunate to receive a small room upgrade at booking, which we definitely appreciated. Let me start with the highlights the resort amenities are wonderful, especially for families. There were plenty of complimentary activities for kids during the day, and even fun nighttime events like dancing that were adorable and well thought out. It truly felt family-friendly, and there was always something going on to keep everyone entertained. The cutest was Santa pics with cookies and milk! The staff was attentive and kind throughout our stay, and honestly, that goes a long way. Great service can elevate an entire experience, and they really delivered on that front. That said, at nearly $1,000 per night during peak season, I did expect the facilities and rooms to be in better condition. The property has so much potential, but parts of it felt a bit rundown for the price point. The rooms could use some attention and deeper cleaning. I completely understand that this is a beachfront resort and sand is inevitable however we noticed quite a bit of sand throughout the room, even on the bed when it had been freshly made. I've stayed at other beach resorts where housekeeping was a bit more thorough in that regard. However nothing crazy but cleanliness is big in my book. One morning, there was also a cockroach at the coffee cart. My husband reported it right away to the front desk. The next few mornings the cart wasn't out, and I'm assuming they were addressing the situation, which I appreciate but it was still a bit off-putting. The on-site restaurants were good not extraordinary, but enjoyable and I felt the pricing there was fair considering it's a resort property. Overall, we had a great experience. The resort has incredible potential, and with a little more attention to upkeep especially considering the premium nightly rate it could easily be a five-star stay. The friendly staff and activities made a big difference.

So Baker's Cay was unable to contact him to let him know the suite he had booked for us with an amazing looking bathtub would not be available due to it not being fully completed with construction. So when we arrived they told us the room wasn't available. My heart sank. I know his sank twice as hard. He has his new wife with his wonderful plan to give her a beautiful bathtub and suddenly it all fell apart. The front desk was so kind though and I truly felt like they cared and felt terrible about this mistake. They really made up for it by giving us so many perks throughout our stay, including a beautiful room with the most amazing view. A shout out to their concierge, Ashley, who really assisted us in booking things! Now that aside, the resort itself is just soooooo relaxing! It is the perfect spot for a honeymoon or any kind of romantic celebration. We loved the love locks they sold in the gift shop and hung ours on the love lock arch. They offer floats, which we were gifted complimentary because of the mix up, and we had a private one. I haven't been that relaxed in a long time, just floating out in the water. Everything we ate was fantastic! Including room service, which was always quick to arrive. My favorite thing was the quesadillas at Dry Rocks! And the chicken dish at Calusa. One day we were going to head down to Key West, but just decided to stay at the resort because it was so wonderful to chill at. We reserved a daybed that day right at the water's edge. They set it up with towels and water and we were able to order food. Even the aforementioned quesadilla. I was in heaven. They have bikes you can use too. Those were fun to ride down to Shell World and get some souvenirs. There's also a pool with a wonderful jacuzzi that is hot, private and has strong jets! This was just the most wonderful honeymoon! Despite no tub, I was a happy wife! And happy wife, happy life, right?

We had a bungalow that was beach front and it was really beautiful. We loved sitting on our little porch and just enjoying the views. The quiet side of the beach (where our bungalow was located) had really nice ambiance. There are sun chairs everywhere. Beautiful string lights and tiki torches for night time. Outdoor beach beds with curtains and lounge beds with visors you can pull down. The bungalow itself has an indoor shower and also an outdoor soaking tub and shower. You get your own bikes to ride around the property. The air conditioning was very good. The sheets were lovely. Everything was clean and in good working order. It also felt very private. We loved the breakfast buffet. The fruit and pastries were our favorites. We also loved Bogey and Bacall's. We didn't love Sea Senor's as much, although it was really fun and beautiful eating right by the beach. The food was just a bit bland. Another thing that I didn't fully realize until we got there was that there isn't a traditional beach. There is sand but it is lined by a rocky coast. You can swim in the ocean and you access it by stairs. So that is something to keep in mind. The pools were lovely and clean. But they could be bigger and maybe have like a water feature or something to improve the ambiance. The pools all close at sunset. Which also was a bit of a bummer and we weren't sure why. But we enjoyed swimming in them. We also didn't realize that seating around the pool is limited and if we wanted to have chairs by the pool, we'd have to get there early and save seats. The spa was incredible. We got a couples massage and it was one of the best massages I have ever had. Definitely recommend going there and treating yourself. Overall our experience was wonderful and romantic and relaxing. The only thing that prevents me from wanting to go back is not having a traditional beach where you can just walk into the ocean and swim. But if that isn't a priority for you, this place is absolutely wonderful!

Location - The hotel is right off of Interstate 1 and in the middle of Key Largo. You are just down the road from a Publix, shopping center, and a number of restaurants. John Pennecamp State Park is really close as well. Rooms & Building - The hotel is going for a retro tropical tiki vibe. It is probably not for everyone but I digged it. Rooms are spacious and offer the typical Hampton Inn layout. The grounds were not like typical Hamptons though, well manicured and full of beautiful tropical plants. This location had a much more Hilton resort vibe without the resort price. Amenities - The hotel had a small beach area that overlooked the ocean. You can borrow kayaks to take out on the water but it was so windy the day we were there, you would have no luck getting anywhere (we watched a poor couple try to no avail). There is a pool with a pool bar but everything was so cold, it was closed and the pool was somewhat uncomfortable to swim due to the temps and wind, so we passed. Food - Pool bar was closed but we did enjoy the free breakfast buffet. Typical Hampton Inn offerings including make your own waffles, eggs, breakfast meat and an assortment of continental offerings. My kids loved that there was a ton of toppings (including key lime syrup!) available for the waffles, we made some pretty crazy combos. Vibe - Easy going and super friendly staff. No complaints. Reality vs. Online - Pictures that I saw on their website and online matched the quality and condition of the hotel and rooms in-person. No surprises. Price & Final Verdict - It was more than what I normally would pay for a Hampton Inn at $240 a night but the Keys are spendy during tourist season. Too bad it was so cold it didn't feel much like it! Oh well, our MN luck. Weather aside, the property was nice and it would have been cool to utilize the water sports and water area. On a nicer day, I feel like these would be great bonuses to the property and added value to the stay. If I'm back in Key Largo, I'll give this place another view.

The villas have separate rooms with common areas and the one I was in had three bedrooms. The bedroom situation was similar to a hotel room. A nice comfortable bed, a private bathroom, generous closet space, and - most importantly - a good stable temperature even with the thermostat being out in the hall. A ceiling fan helps with circulation, which is great too. The only real downside I can think of is that two of the bedrooms are on the second floor, and you need to take this into account with your luggage as there are no elevators. Well, that and the fact that the finish of the stairs blend into the floor at the bottom so if you are older this might make for a physical perception problem as well. Anyway... Parking is a little tight when the place is full, but the location worked out really well for the wedding ceremony. Out on the point you can see the sunset across the water in the evening. Manatees frequent the dock which are a sight to behold. Across the dock there was a nice flat area on hard sand that was perfect for the reception. Yes, there are water activities including dolphin interactions across the boarder from what are the villas, but I can't make any comment on that part since I didn't manage to even visit over there.

I'm so glad we went this direction! Sunset Cove is so unique and charming - from the moment you drive in you're greeted by a large, vintage sign with a swan boat. So you know the kitsch is coming! The grounds have a variety of fun animal lawn decor - my husband and I had so much fun trying to see them all, it felt like we discovered a new hidden one each day of our stay. At night, they're lit up with fun colors - feels like you're coming home to a mini-theme park! Aside from the fun lawn decor, the facilities are truly impressive - a little private beach just steps away from any cottage booked, a little social area with a large tv, a super cool tiki hut in front of the office that has breakfast bites available in the morning. The private beach especially was really appreciated - it may have actually been one of the best on the island from the ones we ventured out to. A nice little sandy bar, plenty of beach chairs, and a few large tiki huts that shield you very well from any unexpected rain. We stayed in the Bayview cottage, which was one of the closest to the private beach and had a little fridge and counter area for prepping food. Also, I really loved the little vanity with a mirror and ledge in the living space that came in handy for getting ready while the bathroom was occupied. I was so impressed with the cleanliness and maintenance of the rooms. Although the location and grounds are a bit rustic, the rooms are kept very clean and updated. Even small things like the paint on the walls and decor - it seems almost like it was painted and decorated yesterday! Everything is kept up. Lastly, I really appreciated that the office highlights the history of the property and gives a little story about Sunset Cove. I really loved learning that the property once was a manatee sanctuary. I think this history would also be great to feature in their website. Before we left, we had to get a photo in the swan boat at the main entrance and Julissa from the front desk was so kind to come take multiple photos for us even though it was super hot out. Overall, was delighted with our fun stay at Sunset Cove and will definitely be back in the future!
