If I could give 3 1/2 stars I would. Room was typical Hampton Inn room.... clean & comfortable. Staff was fantastic except for Steve at the Tiki Bar.... he wasn't overly friendly. Polite but that is a about it. Front Desk, breakfast staff , hotel maids & general staff were all very friendly. Great location.... Right on the water but I can't say I would swim at the beach..... just not appealing. We spent almost all our time at the pool. Really enjoyed the hotel for the price. My biggest concern was the birds at the pool. They would jump in the pool to get a drink numerous times during the day then walk around the deck and poop near the entrance of the pool....Disgusting.

We had an excellent mini vacation here. Check-in was seamless. The gal staffing the front desk was great. After checking into our room, we received a call (text) to make sure everything was okay. We were checked on everyday to make sure we didn't need anything. Maid service is on request which was fine. And if we needed anything replaced or fixed, we just had to call or drop by the front desk. Our room had all the necessary amenities -- small refrigerator, coffee maker, large flat screen tv, well working air conditioning, large king size bed, desk, sofa, bar sink, etc. My only quibble would be that the immovable glass door in the large tiled shower only covered one half of the shower. And the bathroom floor got a tad wet each time it was used. Also it would have been nice to have an outlet in the bedside lamp to plug in my phone charger -- only one side had outlets. But these are minor. There's also a pool, a small beach, and an area where you can fish. The exercise room is in a separate building. Everything there was clean and in working order. Throughout the property, there are stations with cleansing wipes and sanitizer. The hotel is two stories and there's an elevator. The included breakfast was very good. Lots of choices for all sorts of diets. Even fresh fruit. The area and tables are cleaned often. I would definitely return.

The hotel was reasonably priced for the area. Very clean great staff with lots of amenities. hot breakfast, nice pool, beach, gym, paddle kayaks, washer and dryer. there is a lot of wildlife there also (manatees iguanas and even a crocodile). The sunset view is spectacular. There is an excellent cruise that departs from the back of the hotel. Try the sunset cruise with Captain Larry. You see the whole island in the two and a half hour cruise including a beautiful sunset, dolphins, manatees, and several species of birds. It was the highlight of our trip. Highly recommended with 5 stars.

What an amazing and relaxing stay. The staff is so nice & polite & friendly. It was a seamless check-in and check-out process, (I use the Hilton Honors App so checkout was done digitally). The maintenance, housekeeping and kitchen staff greeted me, the front desk always greeted me and were so wonderful with my dogs. We stay in a lot of hotels and resorts and this particular Hampton Inn truly delivers on exceptional service. Jolayne & Erta went above and beyond making us feel welcomed and appreciated. The property is very nice, has a nice small stretch of beach which leads into an evening tiki bar and/or coveted place to sit and unwind 24/7. We chose a room for the view and it was just as nice as hoped for. My dogs are very well behaved, and we are a "leave no trace" pack so we muddled around on the beach and got some pets from other guests missing their furry babies. It was all around a lovely, very quiet, very peaceful and enjoyable stay. Even got some laundry done easily which I appreciate traveling for so many months; it being attached to the gym makes it easy to motivate for a little workout time if you need it. Thank you, team, for a wonderful stay- we will be back.

I got to raise my review back up this trip. I've stayed here for 6 years in a row now. This trip loved up to the usual expectations and their sweet baby manatees showed up for us too! We even brought the dog this time and it worked out really well.

As Hilton Gold members, we were fortunate to receive a small room upgrade at booking, which we definitely appreciated. Let me start with the highlights the resort amenities are wonderful, especially for families. There were plenty of complimentary activities for kids during the day, and even fun nighttime events like dancing that were adorable and well thought out. It truly felt family-friendly, and there was always something going on to keep everyone entertained. The cutest was Santa pics with cookies and milk! The staff was attentive and kind throughout our stay, and honestly, that goes a long way. Great service can elevate an entire experience, and they really delivered on that front. That said, at nearly $1,000 per night during peak season, I did expect the facilities and rooms to be in better condition. The property has so much potential, but parts of it felt a bit rundown for the price point. The rooms could use some attention and deeper cleaning. I completely understand that this is a beachfront resort and sand is inevitable however we noticed quite a bit of sand throughout the room, even on the bed when it had been freshly made. I've stayed at other beach resorts where housekeeping was a bit more thorough in that regard. However nothing crazy but cleanliness is big in my book. One morning, there was also a cockroach at the coffee cart. My husband reported it right away to the front desk. The next few mornings the cart wasn't out, and I'm assuming they were addressing the situation, which I appreciate but it was still a bit off-putting. The on-site restaurants were good not extraordinary, but enjoyable and I felt the pricing there was fair considering it's a resort property. Overall, we had a great experience. The resort has incredible potential, and with a little more attention to upkeep especially considering the premium nightly rate it could easily be a five-star stay. The friendly staff and activities made a big difference.

So Baker's Cay was unable to contact him to let him know the suite he had booked for us with an amazing looking bathtub would not be available due to it not being fully completed with construction. So when we arrived they told us the room wasn't available. My heart sank. I know his sank twice as hard. He has his new wife with his wonderful plan to give her a beautiful bathtub and suddenly it all fell apart. The front desk was so kind though and I truly felt like they cared and felt terrible about this mistake. They really made up for it by giving us so many perks throughout our stay, including a beautiful room with the most amazing view. A shout out to their concierge, Ashley, who really assisted us in booking things! Now that aside, the resort itself is just soooooo relaxing! It is the perfect spot for a honeymoon or any kind of romantic celebration. We loved the love locks they sold in the gift shop and hung ours on the love lock arch. They offer floats, which we were gifted complimentary because of the mix up, and we had a private one. I haven't been that relaxed in a long time, just floating out in the water. Everything we ate was fantastic! Including room service, which was always quick to arrive. My favorite thing was the quesadillas at Dry Rocks! And the chicken dish at Calusa. One day we were going to head down to Key West, but just decided to stay at the resort because it was so wonderful to chill at. We reserved a daybed that day right at the water's edge. They set it up with towels and water and we were able to order food. Even the aforementioned quesadilla. I was in heaven. They have bikes you can use too. Those were fun to ride down to Shell World and get some souvenirs. There's also a pool with a wonderful jacuzzi that is hot, private and has strong jets! This was just the most wonderful honeymoon! Despite no tub, I was a happy wife! And happy wife, happy life, right?

My friends and I had an amazing weekend here lounging by the pool, paddling with the kayaks and paddleboards they offer, and eating at all the amazing restaurants they have within walking distance. I was a little skeptical at first when I realized they didn't have a bar and didn't offer breakfast, but it ended up being a blessing cause we brought what we liked to drink and ate all the amazing local food without having to get in the car. The room was HUGE and we loved that it had two bathrooms, everything was so luxurious and the showers were amazing. The beds were super comfortable (my other friend slept on the Murphy bed and said it was great). The pool was big enough that we were able to have privacy if we wanted or socialize with the other guests if we wanted. Everyone was nice and we had a great time talking to the other guests. The pool was gorgeous and the view was amazing! Don't miss out on this gem.

While the…read moreproperty itself is absolutely stunning and the on-site staff during the event were ok, the nine months leading up to the wedding were incredibly frustrating. Communication was consistently poor--weeks would go by without any response. We were promised a Florida Resident Discount by two different general managers, but it was never honored. (This is a significant discount that we did not get as promised). In total, we went through four general managers, each making new promises that never materialized. Even weeks before the wedding, when we were trying to make final payment, we couldn't get a response. When I finally raised concerns with the newest manager, her response was, "I have like six brides all contacting me at once." With all due respect, that's not how you handle a time-sensitive, stressful situation for a bride and her family. To add to the confusion, their website still showed units available just days before our event--even though we had rented out the entire resort. The units themselves are not equipped as expected either--we had to go out and purchase basic items like dish towels, a dish scrubber, pot holders, and more. Their new lanai roof leaks and ruined a couple of the custom built items we thought were safely stored since it's a brand new structure. If you decide to do a wedding buyout here, I highly recommend hiring a strong wedding planner to handle the communication challenges. Also, make sure to get everything in writing--the staff turnover is significant, and verbal promises don't seem to carry over.

The restaurants are also too busy to pick up the phone, so after being on hold for 30 mins, we walked over to make a reservation. We had a bungalow that was beach front and it was really beautiful. We loved sitting on our little porch and just enjoying the views. The quiet side of the beach (where our bungalow was located) had really nice ambiance. There are sun chairs everywhere. Beautiful string lights and tiki torches for night time. Outdoor beach beds with curtains and lounge beds with visors you can pull down. The bungalow itself has an indoor shower and also an outdoor soaking tub and shower. You get your own bikes to ride around the property. The air conditioning was very good. The sheets were lovely. Everything was clean and in good working order. It also felt very private. We loved the breakfast buffet. The fruit and pastries were our favorites. We also loved Bogey and Bacall's. We didn't love Sea Senor's as much, although it was really fun and beautiful eating right by the beach. The food was just a bit bland. Another thing that I didn't fully realize until we got there was that there isn't a traditional beach. There is sand but it is lined by a rocky coast. You can swim in the ocean and you access it by stairs. So that is something to keep in mind. The pools were lovely and clean. But they could be bigger and maybe have like a water feature or something to improve the ambiance. The pools all close at sunset. Which also was a bit of a bummer and we weren't sure why. But we enjoyed swimming in them. We also didn't realize that seating around the pool is limited and if we wanted to have chairs by the pool, we'd have to get there early and save seats. The spa was incredible. We got a couples massage and it was one of the best massages I have ever had. Definitely recommend going there and treating yourself. Overall our experience was wonderful and romantic and relaxing. The grounds have a variety of fun animal lawn decor - my husband and I had so much fun trying to see them all, it felt like we discovered a new hidden one each day of our stay. At night, they're lit up with fun colors - feels like you're coming home to a mini-theme park! Aside from the fun lawn decor, the facilities are truly impressive - a little private beach just steps away from any cottage booked, a little social area with a large tv, a super cool tiki hut in front of the office that has breakfast bites available in the morning. The private beach especially was really appreciated - it may have actually been one of the best on the island from the ones we ventured out to. A nice little sandy bar, plenty of beach chairs, and a few large tiki huts that shield you very well from any unexpected rain. We stayed in the Bayview cottage, which was one of the closest to the private beach and had a little fridge and counter area for prepping food. Also, I really loved the little vanity with a mirror and ledge in the living space that came in handy for getting ready while the bathroom was occupied. I was so impressed with the cleanliness and maintenance of the rooms. Although the location and grounds are a bit rustic, the rooms are kept very clean and updated. Even small things like the paint on the walls and decor - it seems almost like it was painted and decorated yesterday! Everything is kept up. Lastly, I really appreciated that the office highlights the history of the property and gives a little story about Sunset Cove. I really loved learning that the property once was a manatee sanctuary. I think this history would also be great to feature in their website. Before we left, we had to get a photo in the swan boat at the main entrance and Julissa from the front desk was so kind to come take multiple photos for us even though it was super hot out. Overall, was delighted with our fun stay at Sunset Cove and will definitely be back in the future!
