Gilberts is always a great option when in key largo. This place has good food options and live music on weekends. The easy going vibe is the best. Just by coming here you feel like you are on vacation in some island. Try the oysters, conch chowder and fried hog fish. All really good. Their drinks are good as well. Rum runners, bloody mary, and a few others. Just stop by any day for a good time.

Gilbert's is one of my favorite places in the keys. I absolutely love how you can enjoy being in the water and eat or drink on the sand. The relaxing vibe here makes you think like you're in a different country. This time I had dinner here. I tried the lobster bisque, fish tacos with the spicy margarita. Everything was delicious. The lobster bisque was creamy and the fish tacos were very tasty. The service was great. There was also live music, which made it more enjoyable. My favorite part about being here is that you can also catch the most beautiful sunset. It was stunning. I would definitely continue to come here to enjoy the water, food and drinks.

Great vibes! Amazing drinks and staff is super friendly and welcoming. Food is always fresh and prices are unbeatable.

Gilbert's claims this "espresso martini" is a staff favorite.it is the crappiest, laziest, smallest, poor of an excuse for one. Do better.

Nice for tow dip in the sand while eating or drinking in the sprawling restaurant area. The drinks are average. The espresso martini is awful. Nice break between the

Came to see one of our favorite local bands this Sunday and had a better experience here than last time. The fish dip and coconut shrimp were both good but unfortunately the mahi was flavorless. Overall this is a good spot to pass by and have drinks and enjoy the Keyes vibe. The service still needs improvement, but overall this is a nice spot to chill.

When we first came in the receptionist, Yoli was super nice and very helpful. We sat at the cabana. Igor was our server. He was so helpful so nice making sure that we had water. We never ran out of drinks. He was always there to refill our drinks. He made sure that the cabana was stocked with towels for us. He was so nice. This is definitely a place to come and get away and relax. We definitely enjoyed our girls trip to Gilberts a must Place to come. Make sure you have Igor as your server he was fantastic!

Wow! Amazing to sit on the beach on a Saturday day afternoon enjoying great food in an incredible atmosphere. Our food was 5 stars and so was the service. We had mahi mahi, clam chowder and a casar salad. Highly recommend!!

Gilbert's was so much fun. I'm so happy that we decided to sit under the canopy and not close to the water because there was a band that put on a show and it was super cool under the canopy. We originally went to have drinks and to people watch and I loved it. Parking can be limited and you will be notified by a parking attendant on duty. There is parking along the road leading up to the restaurant. Be aware that there is a long walk and signs alerting you of crocodile crossing. Whew! We had buffalo wings with ranch dipping sauce and they were tasty. We had a few boobies for drinks and they were also good! The servers were nice and the ambiance is beautiful as it is a waterfront and water sports are taking place. Definitely added to the list of must stops when we're in the Keys!

My family and I love coming to Gilbert's at any time! Great spot to stop in early to start your key's adventure with some lunch or end your key's adventure on your way back to the main land with dinner and live music or magic show or even for an evening night cap. They have available rooms to stay and the night and enjoy the sunset and sunrise . The service here has been excellent for all the times we've dined in. I have not stayed at this resort but hopefully one day I shall. The food here is always good and the boobies will get you on a nice tipsy tip. Seafood here is fresh and served quickly.

    Great docking for boats.

Having driven to Keys for 25 yrs, can't say why, but we've never stopped at Gilbert's. Our loss and we won't make that mistake again! Great place! I'd say a full service Keys experience. Boats, docking easy, lots of fun table options, great food choices, great food! I can see us just going there for a Few days getaway! Fun!

Nice place to stop when you're on a boat or by car. Awesome live bands over the weekend but it does pack up the place. Had to stop here several times due to bad weather and I haven't been disappointed in food or drinks. Will keep coming back.

Waterfront dining at Key Largo sounds like a nice day am I right? Well... Gilbert's Resort Tiki Bar is mediocre at best. This is actually my second time visiting but I'm solely basing this review on my second visit. You might be wondering... if it's mediocre why go again? My mom insisted that she wanted to visit so we did on Father's Day. The Tiki Bar is pretty crowded but don't be fooled by the amount of people. When you arrive, you can seat yourself which can be a bit difficult considering it's full - as mentioned above. Once seated, the server attended us right away... can't complain. We ordered drinks to start: Russian Raspberry Mojito, a Modelo and a specialty frozen drink called "Pain in the Ass". My mom, whom ordered the Raspberry Mojito, was sooo dissatisfied with her drink she returned it (ironic, that this drink is considered a "staff favorite"). My dad who was looking to refresh himself with an ice cold beer was disappointed after taking a sip of his room temperature Modelo. I, on the other hand, can't complain about my drink because it was actually pretty delicious. My parents weren't too hungry and we decided to order the Guacamole, Chips and Salsa appetizer. I never thought that guac and chips could be so distasteful. The guacamole had absolutely no flavor. The chips might have been stored somewhere for a prolonged period of time because they tasted VERY stale. The only thing that saved this plate was the salsa. With this being said, we could only imagine that the rest of the food would be unpleasant as well and decided we'd opt to eat somewhere else instead. Aside from the food, it's a cool environment. There was a band playing when we arrived. A "beach" area for visitors to enjoy a dip in the water. I'd say the setting helps the overall rating of the restaurant. I would probably NOT visit a THIRD time, I've had enough. P.S. perhaps take some mosquito repellent. My dad wasn't having it with the mosquitos.

My friends and I had an amazing weekend here lounging by the pool, paddling with the kayaks and paddleboards they offer, and eating at all the amazing restaurants they have within walking distance. I was a little skeptical at first when I realized they didn't have a bar and didn't offer breakfast, but it ended up being a blessing cause we brought what we liked to drink and ate all the amazing local food without having to get in the car. The room was HUGE and we loved that it had two bathrooms, everything was so luxurious and the showers were amazing. The beds were super comfortable (my other friend slept on the Murphy bed and said it was great). The pool was big enough that we were able to have privacy if we wanted or socialize with the other guests if we wanted. Everyone was nice and we had a great time talking to the other guests. The pool was gorgeous and the view was amazing! Don't miss out on this gem.

While the…read moreproperty itself is absolutely stunning and the on-site staff during the event were ok, the nine months leading up to the wedding were incredibly frustrating. Communication was consistently poor--weeks would go by without any response. We were promised a Florida Resident Discount by two different general managers, but it was never honored. (This is a significant discount that we did not get as promised). In total, we went through four general managers, each making new promises that never materialized. Even weeks before the wedding, when we were trying to make final payment, we couldn't get a response. When I finally raised concerns with the newest manager, her response was, "I have like six brides all contacting me at once." With all due respect, that's not how you handle a time-sensitive, stressful situation for a bride and her family. To add to the confusion, their website still showed units available just days before our event--even though we had rented out the entire resort. The units themselves are not equipped as expected either--we had to go out and purchase basic items like dish towels, a dish scrubber, pot holders, and more. Their new lanai roof leaks and ruined a couple of the custom built items we thought were safely stored since it's a brand new structure. If you decide to do a wedding buyout here, I highly recommend hiring a strong wedding planner to handle the communication challenges. Also, make sure to get everything in writing--the staff turnover is significant, and verbal promises don't seem to carry over.

As Hilton Gold members, we were fortunate to receive a small room upgrade at booking, which we definitely appreciated. Let me start with the highlights the resort amenities are wonderful, especially for families. There were plenty of complimentary activities for kids during the day, and even fun nighttime events like dancing that were adorable and well thought out. It truly felt family-friendly, and there was always something going on to keep everyone entertained. The cutest was Santa pics with cookies and milk! The staff was attentive and kind throughout our stay, and honestly, that goes a long way. Great service can elevate an entire experience, and they really delivered on that front. That said, at nearly $1,000 per night during peak season, I did expect the facilities and rooms to be in better condition. The property has so much potential, but parts of it felt a bit rundown for the price point. The rooms could use some attention and deeper cleaning. I completely understand that this is a beachfront resort and sand is inevitable however we noticed quite a bit of sand throughout the room, even on the bed when it had been freshly made. I've stayed at other beach resorts where housekeeping was a bit more thorough in that regard. However nothing crazy but cleanliness is big in my book. One morning, there was also a cockroach at the coffee cart. My husband reported it right away to the front desk. The next few mornings the cart wasn't out, and I'm assuming they were addressing the situation, which I appreciate but it was still a bit off-putting. The on-site restaurants were good not extraordinary, but enjoyable and I felt the pricing there was fair considering it's a resort property. Overall, we had a great experience. The resort has incredible potential, and with a little more attention to upkeep especially considering the premium nightly rate it could easily be a five-star stay. The friendly staff and activities made a big difference.

So Baker's Cay was unable to contact him to let him know the suite he had booked for us with an amazing looking bathtub would not be available due to it not being fully completed with construction. So when we arrived they told us the room wasn't available. My heart sank. I know his sank twice as hard. He has his new wife with his wonderful plan to give her a beautiful bathtub and suddenly it all fell apart. The front desk was so kind though and I truly felt like they cared and felt terrible about this mistake. They really made up for it by giving us so many perks throughout our stay, including a beautiful room with the most amazing view. A shout out to their concierge, Ashley, who really assisted us in booking things! Now that aside, the resort itself is just soooooo relaxing! It is the perfect spot for a honeymoon or any kind of romantic celebration. We loved the love locks they sold in the gift shop and hung ours on the love lock arch. They offer floats, which we were gifted complimentary because of the mix up, and we had a private one. I haven't been that relaxed in a long time, just floating out in the water. Everything we ate was fantastic! Including room service, which was always quick to arrive. My favorite thing was the quesadillas at Dry Rocks! And the chicken dish at Calusa. One day we were going to head down to Key West, but just decided to stay at the resort because it was so wonderful to chill at. We reserved a daybed that day right at the water's edge. They set it up with towels and water and we were able to order food. Even the aforementioned quesadilla. I was in heaven. They have bikes you can use too. Those were fun to ride down to Shell World and get some souvenirs. There's also a pool with a wonderful jacuzzi that is hot, private and has strong jets! This was just the most wonderful honeymoon! Despite no tub, I was a happy wife! And happy wife, happy life, right?

We had a bungalow that was beach front and it was really beautiful. We loved sitting on our little porch and just enjoying the views. Outdoor beach beds with curtains and lounge beds with visors you can pull down. The bungalow itself has an indoor shower and also an outdoor soaking tub and shower. You get your own bikes to ride around the property. The air conditioning was very good. The sheets were lovely. Everything was clean and in good working order. It also felt very private. We loved the breakfast buffet. The fruit and pastries were our favorites. We also loved Bogey and Bacall's. We didn't love Sea Senor's as much, although it was really fun and beautiful eating right by the beach. The food was just a bit bland. Another thing that I didn't fully realize until we got there was that there isn't a traditional beach. There is sand but it is lined by a rocky coast. You can swim in the ocean and you access it by stairs. So that is something to keep in mind. The pools were lovely and clean. But they could be bigger and maybe have like a water feature or something to improve the ambiance. The pools all close at sunset. Which also was a bit of a bummer and we weren't sure why. But we enjoyed swimming in them. We also didn't realize that seating around the pool is limited and if we wanted to have chairs by the pool, we'd have to get there early and save seats. The spa was incredible. We got a couples massage and it was one of the best massages I have ever had. Definitely recommend going there and treating yourself. Overall our experience was wonderful and romantic and relaxing. The only thing that prevents me from wanting to go back is not having a traditional beach where you can just walk into the ocean and swim. Location - The hotel is right off of Interstate 1 and in the middle of Key Largo. You are just down the road from a Publix, shopping center, and a number of restaurants. John Pennecamp State Park is really close as well. Rooms & Building - The hotel is going for a retro tropical tiki vibe. It is probably not for everyone but I digged it. Rooms are spacious and offer the typical Hampton Inn layout. The grounds were not like typical Hamptons though, well manicured and full of beautiful tropical plants. This location had a much more Hilton resort vibe without the resort price. Amenities - The hotel had a small beach area that overlooked the ocean. You can borrow kayaks to take out on the water but it was so windy the day we were there, you would have no luck getting anywhere (we watched a poor couple try to no avail). There is a pool with a pool bar but everything was so cold, it was closed and the pool was somewhat uncomfortable to swim due to the temps and wind, so we passed. Food - Pool bar was closed but we did enjoy the free breakfast buffet. Typical Hampton Inn offerings including make your own waffles, eggs, breakfast meat and an assortment of continental offerings. My kids loved that there was a ton of toppings (including key lime syrup!) available for the waffles, we made some pretty crazy combos. Vibe - Easy going and super friendly staff. No complaints. Reality vs. Online - Pictures that I saw on their website and online matched the quality and condition of the hotel and rooms in-person. No surprises. Price & Final Verdict - It was more than what I normally would pay for a Hampton Inn at $240 a night but the Keys are spendy during tourist season. Too bad it was so cold it didn't feel much like it! Oh well, our MN luck. Weather aside, the property was nice and it would have been cool to utilize the water sports and water area. On a nicer day, I feel like these would be great bonuses to the property and added value to the stay. If I'm back in Key Largo, I'll give this place another view.

The first impression when…read moredriving into the place was, "What could possibly be back here that is going to work for a wedding?" However, the answer to that was surprisingly great. The villas have separate rooms with common areas and the one I was in had three bedrooms. The bedroom situation was similar to a hotel room. A nice comfortable bed, a private bathroom, generous closet space, and - most importantly - a good stable temperature even with the thermostat being out in the hall. A ceiling fan helps with circulation, which is great too. The only real downside I can think of is that two of the bedrooms are on the second floor, and you need to take this into account with your luggage as there are no elevators. Well, that and the fact that the finish of the stairs blend into the floor at the bottom so if you are older this might make for a physical perception problem as well. Anyway... Parking is a little tight when the place is full, but the location worked out really well for the wedding ceremony. Out on the point you can see the sunset across the water in the evening. Manatees frequent the dock which are a sight to behold. Across the dock there was a nice flat area on hard sand that was perfect for the reception. Yes, there are water activities including dolphin interactions across the boarder from what are the villas, but I can't make any comment on that part since I didn't manage to even visit over there.

They offer complimentary kayaks and paddleboards for guests, and we squeezed in a morning paddle before checkout -- we saw so many manatees! It's not glamorous, but that's exactly the charm. It's authentic, relaxed, and unpretentious. There's a great variety of accommodations, from cottages to RV's to rent, making it perfect for families or anyone who loves a kitchy, waterfront escape.

I'm so glad we went this direction! Sunset Cove is so unique and charming - from the moment you drive in you're greeted by a large, vintage sign with a swan boat. So you know the kitsch is coming! The grounds have a variety of fun animal lawn decor - my husband and I had so much fun trying to see them all, it felt like we discovered a new hidden one each day of our stay. At night, they're lit up with fun colors - feels like you're coming home to a mini-theme park! Aside from the fun lawn decor, the facilities are truly impressive - a little private beach just steps away from any cottage booked, a little social area with a large tv, a super cool tiki hut in front of the office that has breakfast bites available in the morning. The private beach especially was really appreciated - it may have actually been one of the best on the island from the ones we ventured out to. A nice little sandy bar, plenty of beach chairs, and a few large tiki huts that shield you very well from any unexpected rain. We stayed in the Bayview cottage, which was one of the closest to the private beach and had a little fridge and counter area for prepping food. Also, I really loved the little vanity with a mirror and ledge in the living space that came in handy for getting ready while the bathroom was occupied. I was so impressed with the cleanliness and maintenance of the rooms. Although the location and grounds are a bit rustic, the rooms are kept very clean and updated. Even small things like the paint on the walls and decor - it seems almost like it was painted and decorated yesterday! Everything is kept up. Lastly, I really appreciated that the office highlights the history of the property and gives a little story about Sunset Cove. I really loved learning that the property once was a manatee sanctuary. I think this history would also be great to feature in their website. Before we left, we had to get a photo in the swan boat at the main entrance and Julissa from the front desk was so kind to come take multiple photos for us even though it was super hot out. Overall, was delighted with our fun stay at Sunset Cove and will definitely be back in the future!
