We got the junior suite and the size was more for a solo traveler. We had two large suitcases and when both opened, there was no walk space so we were climbing over the bed to get to the bathroom and reach over the small fridge provided. The bathroom had everything needed for a good shower (hot water, shampoo/conditioner, body wash, towels) but the shower was constantly flooding to our ankles so we had to space out our showers to wait for it to fully drain before the next one. The AC kept the room cool but water leaked out occasionally so we turned it off when sleeping which was unfortunate because it got super hot at night in the rooms. The ladies at the front were nice for check in and check out. The best part about staying here though was the little private beach in the back and picturesque scenery. I liked this place. The ocean access is nice and the swing is cute. The entry into the water is very slippery and rocky, the walk from the cottages is about 5 minutes. I likes my stay, however my room have other people's hair all over. Black hair attached bed to the toilet all over the floor and the shower needs a good scrub. The bedding seemed clean but under the sheet was very stained. The floors really need scrubbed. My fridge stopped working in the middle of the night so all my food was bad by morning. No microwave in room. The tv has Roku that was nice. It was okay but could definitely be better. Location is good. read more

We have been coming here for over 20 years. Management and ownership has changed and the place has been remodeled. We stopped coming due to the crowd that was coming years ago. We booked here for Mother's Day and my mom fell and fractured her knee. Eric was gracious enough to let us reschedule for my mom's birthday. We arrived Friday in September and the staff could not have been more accommodating. We got the big 2 bedroom suite. They have kayaks and bikes that are free to guests. There is no pool but there is a nice little area to sit in the water by the dock. In the room there was a little kitchen area with a microwave and fridge and a hot plate, dishes and pots and pans. The only issue we had was the sofa bed was broken so the room did not "sleep 6" even though it was supposed to. We ended up getting another room to have more space since we could not sleep on the sofa bed, and the A/C was not working in the new unit. They did come out and remedy the A/C situation very efficiently. The crowd also took a turn for the worse. It went from a quiet peaceful weekend to a crowd that was loud, obnoxious, cursing and yelling across the property at each other. They drove their jet skis at dangerous speeds and had ZERO consideration for the other guests. There also seemed to be a family that was not staying at the resort that slept outside in the lounges and swing under one of the tiki huts. They were very nice but bad for optics when you spend $1,300 for a weekend stay here. Not sure we will be back but if we do it will be during the week. It has nothing to do with the staff here as they could not be more wonderful but the crowd that is coming here at times is less than appealing. read more

VERY DISHONEST HOTEL!!! I was super excited to stay here after booking over a month and a half in advance but if I could go back I definitely think I could have found something better. The property is very nice and clean and the small hotel offers a quieter experience. I was able to enjoy peaceful mornings and a beautiful view however you're not on the right side to catch the sunset visibly. I stayed a week and requested housekeeping. All I got was towels and a new roll of toilet paper. I didn't ever get fresh sheets once the entire week. When I arrived the bedding in the room was incomplete (later come to find it was because the housekeeper knew the bed was broken) - so unsure if the room was ready or not I asked the front office: They checked and assured me everything was fine. I left my things and headed out for dinner. When I arrived back and went to lay down I noticed the BED WAS BROKEN!! (Probably why the bedding was incomplete: housekeeping noticed, but obviously didn't communicate that to fix the issue before my arrival. Since the office was closed I consulted with the lady at the front desk the next morning after she arrived 45min late with a Starbucks in hand. After having to sleep on a broken bed for 1 night I brought the issue to the office. After having to wait half the day for an answer from the maintenance man only to find out that not only can they not fix the bed that they DO NOT have an equivalent room for me and then I can either leave and they can kindly refund me my entire stay (then I would be left finding another hotel last minute) , They could downgrade my room with no discount, or they can REFUND me for the days that I had to sleep on a broken bed and I can wait to have it fixed. This all came from the mouth of the lady in the office. I chose to stay and be refunded the 2 nights we had to sleep on a broken bed. I did not want a room without a kitchen and I didn't want to scramble last minute on vacation to find another hotel when I booked so far in advance. After returning home I contacted booking.com as directed from the hotel to receive the refund. Here's where it takes a turn. Booking.com said I needed to contact the hotel directly and work it out. I contact hotel. Hotel states they NEVER said they were going to REFUND me. That they would DISCOUNT me!! I would get $24.99 back total for a $100/night room. Completely swindled me! I recontact Booking.com They tell me they'll send an email. If they don't respond they will refund me. They gave 24hrs. I call Booking.com They tell me the same thing. (As if they never sent an email before) They'll send an email. If they do not respond that I can contact them and we can handle the matter further. And they will try to compensate me for the inconvenience.(No amount stated) They now have 72hrs. I call booking.com again. They tell me they'll send ... YOU GUESSED it.. send an EMAIL! They said they have 5 DAYS TO RESPOND!! 2 days go by and I get an email stating Booking.com refunded me 24.99 the exact price at the Hotel originally quoted me for. For me it's not about the money but the dishonesty of these businesses and corporations. Please if anything is wrong.. get it IMMEDIATELY fixed or get a full refund RIGHT THERE! I'm so disappointed. I really wanted this to be a great stay but I'm very regretful. read more

Bed Bugs Beware!!! My sister and I stayed in room 21 which is supposedly the best room because it offers an ocean front view. My sister slept in the master bedroom while I slept in the adjacent room. The next morning, I woke up covered in red itchy bites. I assumed that they were mosquito bites. I also didn't really have time to fully inspect the bites as we needed to check out by 11 a.m. Upon returning to Miami, I could clearly see that my bites came from bed bugs. I immediately contacted management to notify them upon which they began to seriously gaslight me stating that my bites most likely came from noseeums. First and foremost, noseeum bites resemble flea bites and not bed bug bites. Secondly, my sister would have similar bites since we frequented the same spots during our one night stay in KeKey Largo. In addition, the hotel manager didn't even send me an official inspection report from the exterminator to substantiate her "zero bedbugs found" claim but rather an obscure email with a few lines in very poor English. What I will say is that I was able to avoid bringing the bedbugs back to Miami as I threw out my carry on as well as my overnight clothes. I know that the bedbugs came from the hotel because I haven't gotten bitten since. It's been one week and the bites are stil extremely itchy. Steer clear of this hotel unless you want bedbugs. read more

There are about 20 rooms all on one level with convenient parking adjacent. The rooms are clean including a small fridge and coffee maker. There is a dock and small beach. Staff are great. Dry chill and quiet spot. They encourage all to be mindful of others and keep noise to a minimum which was fantastic. read more

There was no shower curtain, a closet door was actually the storage for the electric and water which is fine but the door fell off when I was opening it, and almost knocked over the coffee maker. Wow, can't say enough good things about this place. Its beach view is amazing. The staff was so attentive and all had smiles and happy to help. I have to give a huge shout out to the general manager Eric. He runs that place like a well oiled machine. But even bigger reason we love Eric , We almost had the worst day ever when we lost our phone and ids while paddle boarding. We went into the office super upset .Eric jumped right up, went and got his gear and swam out to look for our phone and Ids. About 30 mins later he pops up out of the water with our stuff!!! It is actually a nice little place. Staff was super helpful and friendly. Great recommendations for eating out and things to do. Room was nice and chilly. Only complaint would be our next door neighbor had the music a bit loud at 7 am jajaja and some banging on the wall. I wish we would've picked a better time to come down to South Florida. It's been raining a lot. This hotel is very cool, about a minute walk to go by the dock. The beach is also very close by. Lots of things to do. It would be a good place to come back to. I am extremely disappointed with this motel. I booked a room and then had to cancel the room due to a change in plans. I canceled the room more than a month ahead of the time I was to arrive - giving the motel more than ample time to rebook the room. I called to request my Visa be credited and was told that they never refund the room - even if they rebook the room for that night. I spoke with both the front desk and the manager and both were equally rude and dismissive. Reading the reviews I see that the motel has a history of rude care for its customers, so maybe it is for the best. Cool place to stay. We had a king room (#1), bed was comfortable, room was clean, everything was updated nicely. Bathroom was really small and there wasn't an exhaust fan but that didn't affect our stay. Their outside area is super nice! Lots of chairs to layout in the sun or under the tiki for shade, and at the end of the dock. The only downside is check in is late at 4pm... considering check in is 11, I feel like they could do a little earlier to offer more day time at the property to swim, kayak and paddle board but we would definitely stay there again. read more

Beautiful property other then sat we left drove to Marathon 1 hour away and received multiple calls from the actual hotel. It was one of the girls in the office screaming at my husband to get back now and move our Boat. He informed her we were already an hour away so it was going to take us about an hour to get there 15 minutes later we received another call same thing and another call same thing. We did get back. We had to totally waste our entire day driving back-and-forth to move the boat because they only have a boat dock suitable for one boat, depending on which way the winds blowing they had us on the right hand side with wind coming from the north, knocking or boat into their dock, and completely destroying it, but they didn't care because we have the insurance to cover it. I'm surprised by the limited reviews and star rating. I stayed here back in March with my wife for my birthday. I absolutely loved this place. The beach was small, but great. The other guest were all in such a great mood. Everyone spoke and were just having a good time. The rooms were super clean and bright and updated. The staff was amazing. We took advantage of the kayak rentals. I don't know what else so say. I loved it here and can't wait to find another reason to come back. I wish I wrote this review sooner. Had a nice stay here in late April! It is nothing fancy, but the property is on a little private beach - very quiet and peaceful! Rooms were clean. We had a couple very minor issues, but management resolved them right away. Great service from Mackenzie! You can tell they care about their customers. Few amenities (no pool, no room service, etc.), but who cares! There are a ton of great restaurants nearby, and their dock & little beach was all we needed anyway! read more

This place was a real disappointment. I came here for my birthday and I was given a room right next to the main road. I immediately asked the manager for another room but she said they had nothing available. The room was not at all what I was expecting. It was small and had an uncomfortable bed with the AC on the wall positioned to blow cold air in your face. The bathroom was okay but it was very small. The room also had strong chemical odors. The beach was cute but very small. There was a neighbor next door shooting Iguanas with a BB gun. Not exactly the thing you want to see on a relaxing vacation. Before heading out to FL from San Diego I had been looking up the perfect place that would match our style, be affordable, and have a close location to the dive site for the next morning. Drift hotel took care of all 3 of those! We arrived a little later than expected as we drove down from Palm Beach, FL. Many cool stops along the way detoured us. We were still able to arrive before they close the doors at 8pm for check ins and got our room. The rooms are very cute inside. Love the style of Drift Hotel altogether! We didn't get to stay long though, we arrived late, went out for takeout food, had to leave early the next morning for diving. Doesn't mean they didn't take care of us though! If you are looking for a great hotel in Key Largo to relax this is the one! They have a great deck and the grounds of the place are very well kept even though we didn't stick around much to use them though. Last but not least...the COVID stuff...they are well prepared for mitigation of COVID, masks are required inside the office, rooms are cleaned well in between, if you have a multiple night stay they even have a tote to put your linen in that you will put outside your room so the staff doesn't have to enter your room during your stay. read more

I had reservations here for sometime. Once you book, I'm almost sure the penalty is at least for one night's room charge, even if you cancel early enough. That said, I was pretty happy overall here with my stay. It was a bit pricey though for off season in October. Still, the staff was responsive to my needs and requests. Queenie is a/the manager. They're all very friendly, and quite helpful. I communicated via e-mails with them the whole time. Even like notifying them to have the room cleaned. The Wi-Fi signal was a bit iffy. In and out on connecting. Once connected though it worked fine. Operating the cable/satellite HDTV is first with the smaller Roku remote power button. Then side one is for the volume controls. The bed was a king and quite comfortable for my liking. Some of the window's shutters weren't working as well as they should (old?). Some of the little things could be fixed or attended to. Toilet paper roll holder broken. Room - very clean. No bug problems, but keep entrance door shut closed! One other thing, if you need ice which is for sale for a few bucks. Around 8pm is latest getting anymore at the hotel's locked ice bag's bin. Three night stay was about $756.00. They have water sport equipment for you to use here if you ask. Some good restaurant choices nearby. Try C&C for $10 pizza and beer happy hour. Great place. I'd recommend it and I would come back. read more

We were on the island at another resort but decided to stay one more night before headed back north. Found this place on line and had a decent rate and reviews. It was for one night so we gave it a shot. We had just left a five star resort so we were not expecting too much. We were surprise by this little place. It is obviously well advertised overseas as many of the people staying there were from Europe. Porsha was very nice when we checked in. She even escorted us to our rooms. I would say there are about 20 rooms. It is like a 50's motel with all the doors to the outside. A small beach area where they have kayaks and paddle boards and a dock area. A food truck in on site and was open in the morning. We got upgraded for some reason and our room had a small kitchen area with dishes, etc. Bathroom shower is small but plenty of hot water and good pressure. Bed was a tad soft for my taste but slept fine for one night. My only complaint maybe the floors. Our feet were black. I thought it might be from my new flip flops but after washing my feet and walking around the room they were black again. The floors didn't feel gross or dirty. I am sure it is a challenge with people going to beach all the time. WiFi worked well and we thought is was a bargain. We didn't hear anything at night. We slept hard. The AC worked great as well which was not the case at our 5 star place. Overall I highly recommend this place. It is a cute family friendly motel. It is on the south side of Key Largo but really the place is so small nothing is too far away. Finally, a cute photo opt with the wings they have painted on one of their walls. read more

Have come here a few times over the years and 2023 has been the worst. As soon as I arrived I was harassed by staff because my family and I had "too many cars". In a place where people go park their trucks and boat for the day, you'd think there was no problem. The younger blonde girl that helped us was very nice but her partner, brunette, slightly older (30ish) was extremely rude and yelled at my entire family. Brunette said that we were giving her attitude as soon as we had parked earshot away from us. In front of children 10 and younger. Will not be going back as we were charged $200 for an extra car. read more

We stayed here for 4 nights. Rooms are nice and clean. Other tenants were all very quiet and kept to themselves. The front desk rented us snorkel equipment for free and we snorkeled right off the beach. We saw a lot more than I'd expected. Beach chairs are free, tiki huts were in great shape and most of the time we were the only ones using the beach. We will stay here again for sure! read more

Drift Hotel is full of bedbugs. I think that says it all. I've communicated with the hotel staff and some of them acknowledge that has been an issue for a while. I personally spend three nights in one of the worst nightmares of being eaten alive by bedbugs and even though I've shown them all my legs, back and private areas full or bedbugs marks the manager refused to acknowledge it. With so many options in Key Largo..do yourself a favor and look for a hotel without bedbugs. read more

We stayed here for 2 nights during our honeymoon road trip. We were given a room that had a conjoining door to the next unit, which made the walls VERY thin to where I could very clearly hear the entire conversation going on next door. Same thing in the bathroom with the conjoining AC closet. No breakfast. Have to pay for ice. Water didn't get very hot in the shower. The rooms were cleaned alright, but not great. They have taken extra COVID precautions with their linen tubs so staff doesn't have to enter your room. The out door area was nice but it was too cold for us to enjoy it. Overall this place is OK but I wouldn't stay there again. The pictures on Expedia (through which we booked) painted this place as something way better than what we saw. Really rude staff. I called the hotel to ask a question she said the information on the website was incorrect. I asked if they would be able to make any accommodations and she said no, then halfway through my sentence she hung up on me. I called back to explain that she hung up and that it was very rude of her, she said I asked numerous times and that she answered numerous times-WHEN I ONLY ASKED ONCE. She continued to cut me off and could not even apologize or pretend that she accidentally hung up. I would not stay at place that does not even care how they treat potential guests who are only asking questions. read more
