    Beautiful view

We have been coming here for over 20 years. Management and ownership has changed and the place has been remodeled. We stopped coming due to the crowd that was coming years ago. We booked here for Mother's Day and my mom fell and fractured her knee. Eric was gracious enough to let us reschedule for my mom's birthday. We arrived Friday in September and the staff could not have been more accommodating. We got the big 2 bedroom suite. They have kayaks and bikes that are free to guests. There is no pool but there is a nice little area to sit in the water by the dock. In the room there was a little kitchen area with a microwave and fridge and a hot plate, dishes and pots and pans. The only issue we had was the sofa bed was broken so the room did not "sleep 6" even though it was supposed to. We ended up getting another room to have more space since we could not sleep on the sofa bed, and the A/C was not working in the new unit. They did come out and remedy the A/C situation very efficiently. The crowd also took a turn for the worse. It went from a quiet peaceful weekend to a crowd that was loud, obnoxious, cursing and yelling across the property at each other. They drove their jet skis at dangerous speeds and had ZERO consideration for the other guests. There also seemed to be a family that was not staying at the resort that slept outside in the lounges and swing under one of the tiki huts. They were very nice but bad for optics when you spend $1,300 for a weekend stay here. Not sure we will be back but if we do it will be during the week. It has nothing to do with the staff here as they could not be more wonderful but the crowd that is coming here at times is less than appealing.

Response from drift hotel not only lying about what they told me there in person but then trying to turn blame on me!!

VERY DISHONEST HOTEL!!! I was super excited to stay here after booking over a month and a half in advance but if I could go back I definitely think I could have found something better. The property is very nice and clean and the small hotel offers a quieter experience. I was able to enjoy peaceful mornings and a beautiful view however you're not on the right side to catch the sunset visibly. I stayed a week and requested housekeeping. All I got was towels and a new roll of toilet paper. I didn't ever get fresh sheets once the entire week. When I arrived the bedding in the room was incomplete (later come to find it was because the housekeeper knew the bed was broken) - so unsure if the room was ready or not I asked the front office: They checked and assured me everything was fine. I left my things and headed out for dinner. When I arrived back and went to lay down I noticed the BED WAS BROKEN!! (Probably why the bedding was incomplete: housekeeping noticed, but obviously didn't communicate that to fix the issue before my arrival. Since the office was closed I consulted with the lady at the front desk the next morning after she arrived 45min late with a Starbucks in hand. After having to sleep on a broken bed for 1 night I brought the issue to the office. After having to wait half the day for an answer from the maintenance man only to find out that not only can they not fix the bed that they DO NOT have an equivalent room for me and then I can either leave and they can kindly refund me my entire stay (then I would be left finding another hotel last minute) , They could downgrade my room with no discount, or they can REFUND me for the days that I had to sleep on a broken bed and I can wait to have it fixed. This all came from the mouth of the lady in the office. I chose to stay and be refunded the 2 nights we had to sleep on a broken bed. I did not want a room without a kitchen and I didn't want to scramble last minute on vacation to find another hotel when I booked so far in advance. After returning home I contacted booking.com as directed from the hotel to receive the refund. Here's where it takes a turn. Booking.com said I needed to contact the hotel directly and work it out. I contact hotel. Hotel states they NEVER said they were going to REFUND me. That they would DISCOUNT me!! I would get $24.99 back total for a $100/night room. Completely swindled me! I recontact Booking.com They tell me they'll send an email. If they don't respond they will refund me. They gave 24hrs. I call Booking.com They tell me the same thing. (As if they never sent an email before) They'll send an email. If they do not respond that I can contact them and we can handle the matter further. And they will try to compensate me for the inconvenience.(No amount stated) They now have 72hrs. I call booking.com again. They tell me they'll send ... YOU GUESSED it.. send an EMAIL! They said they have 5 DAYS TO RESPOND!! 2 days go by and I get an email stating Booking.com refunded me 24.99 the exact price at the Hotel originally quoted me for. For me it's not about the money but the dishonesty of these businesses and corporations. Please if anything is wrong.. get it IMMEDIATELY fixed or get a full refund RIGHT THERE! I'm so disappointed. I really wanted this to be a great stay but I'm very regretful.

    Bed bug bites
    Eleonora F.

Bed Bugs Beware!!! My sister and I stayed in room 21 which is supposedly the best room because it offers an ocean front view. My sister slept in the master bedroom while I slept in the adjacent room. The next morning, I woke up covered in red itchy bites. I assumed that they were mosquito bites. I also didn't really have time to fully inspect the bites as we needed to check out by 11 a.m. Upon returning to Miami, I could clearly see that my bites came from bed bugs. I immediately contacted management to notify them upon which they began to seriously gaslight me stating that my bites most likely came from noseeums. First and foremost, noseeum bites resemble flea bites and not bed bug bites. Secondly, my sister would have similar bites since we frequented the same spots during our one night stay in KeKey Largo. In addition, the hotel manager didn't even send me an official inspection report from the exterminator to substantiate her "zero bedbugs found" claim but rather an obscure email with a few lines in very poor English. What I will say is that I was able to avoid bringing the bedbugs back to Miami as I threw out my carry on as well as my overnight clothes. I know that the bedbugs came from the hotel because I haven't gotten bitten since. It's been one week and the bites are stil extremely itchy. Steer clear of this hotel unless you want bedbugs.

    Little closet?
    Jeremy O.

This place is okay but I'll leave my issues I found. There was no shower curtain, a closet door was actually the storage for the electric and water which is fine but the door fell off when I was opening it, and almost knocked over the coffee maker. Not that it was a huge deal but the view out the window wasn't much to talk about. I'll leave some pics

This is how far out Eric went to find our phone and IDs. What a great person!!
    Brittney B.

Wow, can't say enough good things about this place. Its beach view is amazing. The staff was so attentive and all had smiles and happy to help. I have to give a huge shout out to the general manager Eric. He runs that place like a well oiled machine. But even bigger reason we love Eric , We almost had the worst day ever when we lost our phone and ids while paddle boarding. We went into the office super upset .Eric jumped right up, went and got his gear and swam out to look for our phone and Ids. About 30 mins later he pops up out of the water with our stuff!!! I could have cried. Thank you Eric you're such a good person.

Cute place to stay!!! It's a little smaller than expected and a little dated. Cons- Tiny rooms Outdated Water pressure in shower needs an update Equipment to borrow like the bikes and boards need a refresh and update they are really old and missing parts Have to ask for ice or buy a bag onsite Pros: Beautiful dock Water right in front to jump into Grounds were clean Service onsite was excellent!!! Very minimal amenities.. However if you are looking for a place to relax and kick your feet up (bring your own drinks and snacks cause they have none on sight) this is a nice place to stay.

Omg Expensive just because. No early check I . Can't get a cell signal. Free Wi-Fi.......why why????? Can't connect. Ok now the room. Arrived a/c was cranked. Roontemp 81 at 5:06. Setting at 67. Next day room temp 79. A/c 67. Seriously??????? Now the filth and crap see the pics Oh yeah. Supposed to be quiet at 9 pm. Sitting on the pier watching the stars and som Hispanic music blasted by a guest at ten. Then his family shows up and for the next hour loud talking back and forth. I'm thinking drunk family members. And why do why have to wear a plastic wrist band????

    Dock
    Juan G.

It is actually a nice little place. Staff was super helpful and friendly. Great recommendations for eating out and things to do. Room was nice and chilly. Only complaint would be our next door neighbor had the music a bit loud at 7 am jajaja and some banging on the wall. I wish we would've picked a better time to come down to South Florida. It's been raining a lot. This hotel is very cool, about a minute walk to go by the dock. The beach is also very close by. Lots of things to do. It would be a good place to come back to. Hopefully next time we get better neighbors. But it still was a very relaxing stay and a great atmosphere!!

    Beach front
    Senica L.

Wow I was very impressed with this motel. So glad I stayed here. The room was recently renovated and so pretty! Very, very clean! I wish Yelp would allow videos so I can post my video tour. The beach section is small but the water is great for swimming and the pier is so picturesque! The only negative was the Wi-Fi is very weak - not a good spot to work remotely.

    Very pretty property

Cool place to stay. We had a king room (#1), bed was comfortable, room was clean, everything was updated nicely. Bathroom was really small and there wasn't an exhaust fan but that didn't affect our stay. Their outside area is super nice! Lots of chairs to layout in the sun or under the tiki for shade, and at the end of the dock. The only downside is check in is late at 4pm... considering check in is 11, I feel like they could do a little earlier to offer more day time at the property to swim, kayak and paddle board but we would definitely stay there again.

    1 boat boat dock.

Location - The hotel is right off of Interstate 1 and in the middle of Key Largo. You are just down the road from a Publix, shopping center, and a number of restaurants. John Pennecamp State Park is really close as well. Rooms & Building - The hotel is going for a retro tropical tiki vibe. It is probably not for everyone but I digged it. Rooms are spacious and offer the typical Hampton Inn layout. The grounds were not like typical Hamptons though, well manicured and full of beautiful tropical plants. This location had a much more Hilton resort vibe without the resort price. Amenities - The hotel had a small beach area that overlooked the ocean. You can borrow kayaks to take out on the water but it was so windy the day we were there, you would have no luck getting anywhere (we watched a poor couple try to no avail). There is a pool with a pool bar but everything was so cold, it was closed and the pool was somewhat uncomfortable to swim due to the temps and wind, so we passed. Food - Pool bar was closed but we did enjoy the free breakfast buffet. Typical Hampton Inn offerings including make your own waffles, eggs, breakfast meat and an assortment of continental offerings. My kids loved that there was a ton of toppings (including key lime syrup!) available for the waffles, we made some pretty crazy combos. Vibe - Easy going and super friendly staff. No complaints. Reality vs. Online - Pictures that I saw on their website and online matched the quality and condition of the hotel and rooms in-person. No surprises. Price & Final Verdict - It was more than what I normally would pay for a Hampton Inn at $240 a night but the Keys are spendy during tourist season. Too bad it was so cold it didn't feel much like it! Oh well, our MN luck. Weather aside, the property was nice and it would have been cool to utilize the water sports and water area. On a nicer day, I feel like these would be great bonuses to the property and added value to the stay. If I'm back in Key Largo, I'll give this place another view.

As Hilton Gold members, we were fortunate to receive a small room upgrade at booking, which we definitely appreciated. Let me start with the highlights the resort amenities are wonderful, especially for families. There were plenty of complimentary activities for kids during the day, and even fun nighttime events like dancing that were adorable and well thought out. It truly felt family-friendly, and there was always something going on to keep everyone entertained. The cutest was Santa pics with cookies and milk! The staff was attentive and kind throughout our stay, and honestly, that goes a long way. Great service can elevate an entire experience, and they really delivered on that front. That said, at nearly $1,000 per night during peak season, I did expect the facilities and rooms to be in better condition. The property has so much potential, but parts of it felt a bit rundown for the price point. The rooms could use some attention and deeper cleaning. I completely understand that this is a beachfront resort and sand is inevitable however we noticed quite a bit of sand throughout the room, even on the bed when it had been freshly made. I've stayed at other beach resorts where housekeeping was a bit more thorough in that regard. However nothing crazy but cleanliness is big in my book. One morning, there was also a cockroach at the coffee cart. My husband reported it right away to the front desk. The next few mornings the cart wasn't out, and I'm assuming they were addressing the situation, which I appreciate but it was still a bit off-putting. The on-site restaurants were good not extraordinary, but enjoyable and I felt the pricing there was fair considering it's a resort property. Overall, we had a great experience. The resort has incredible potential, and with a little more attention to upkeep especially considering the premium nightly rate it could easily be a five-star stay. The friendly staff and activities made a big difference.

He has his new wife with his wonderful plan to give her a beautiful bathtub and suddenly it all fell apart. The front desk was so kind though and I truly felt like they cared and felt terrible about this mistake. They really made up for it by giving us so many perks throughout our stay, including a beautiful room with the most amazing view. A shout out to their concierge, Ashley, who really assisted us in booking things! Now that aside, the resort itself is just soooooo relaxing! It is the perfect spot for a honeymoon or any kind of romantic celebration. We loved the love locks they sold in the gift shop and hung ours on the love lock arch. They offer floats, which we were gifted complimentary because of the mix up, and we had a private one. I haven't been that relaxed in a long time, just floating out in the water. Everything we ate was fantastic! Including room service, which was always quick to arrive. My favorite thing was the quesadillas at Dry Rocks! And the chicken dish at Calusa. One day we were going to head down to Key West, but just decided to stay at the resort because it was so wonderful to chill at. We reserved a daybed that day right at the water's edge. They set it up with towels and water and we were able to order food. Even the aforementioned quesadilla. I was in heaven. They have bikes you can use too. Those were fun to ride down to Shell World and get some souvenirs. There's also a pool with a wonderful jacuzzi that is hot, private and has strong jets! This was just the most wonderful honeymoon! Despite no tub, I was a happy wife! And happy wife, happy life, right?

Communication was consistently poor--weeks would go by without any response. We were promised a Florida Resident Discount by two different general managers, but it was never honored. (This is a significant discount that we did not get as promised). In total, we went through four general managers, each making new promises that never materialized. Even weeks before the wedding, when we were trying to make final payment, we couldn't get a response. When I finally raised concerns with the newest manager, her response was, "I have like six brides all contacting me at once." With all due respect, that's not how you handle a time-sensitive, stressful situation for a bride and her family. To add to the confusion, their website still showed units available just days before our event--even though we had rented out the entire resort. The units themselves are not equipped as expected either--we had to go out and purchase basic items like dish towels, a dish scrubber, pot holders, and more. Their new lanai roof leaks and ruined a couple of the custom built items we thought were safely stored since it's a brand new structure. If you decide to do a wedding buyout here, I highly recommend hiring a strong wedding planner to handle the communication challenges. Also, make sure to get everything in writing--the staff turnover is significant, and verbal promises don't seem to carry over.

If you're lucky enough to get her as your server, buckle up you're in for top-tier service and a lot of laughs. 10/10 would return. 11/10 if Helen's working!

We had a bungalow that was beach front and it was really beautiful. We loved sitting on our little porch and just enjoying the views. The quiet side of the beach (where our bungalow was located) had really nice ambiance. There are sun chairs everywhere. Beautiful string lights and tiki torches for night time. Outdoor beach beds with curtains and lounge beds with visors you can pull down. The bungalow itself has an indoor shower and also an outdoor soaking tub and shower. You get your own bikes to ride around the property. The air conditioning was very good. The sheets were lovely. Everything was clean and in good working order. It also felt very private. We loved the breakfast buffet. The fruit and pastries were our favorites. We also loved Bogey and Bacall's. We didn't love Sea Senor's as much, although it was really fun and beautiful eating right by the beach. The food was just a bit bland. Another thing that I didn't fully realize until we got there was that there isn't a traditional beach. There is sand but it is lined by a rocky coast. You can swim in the ocean and you access it by stairs. So that is something to keep in mind. The pools were lovely and clean. But they could be bigger and maybe have like a water feature or something to improve the ambiance. The pools all close at sunset. Which also was a bit of a bummer and we weren't sure why. But we enjoyed swimming in them. We also didn't realize that seating around the pool is limited and if we wanted to have chairs by the pool, we'd have to get there early and save seats. The spa was incredible. We got a couples massage and it was one of the best massages I have ever had. Definitely recommend going there and treating yourself. Overall our experience was wonderful and romantic and relaxing. The only thing that prevents me from wanting to go back is not having a traditional beach where you can just walk into the ocean and swim. But if that isn't a priority for you, this place is absolutely wonderful!

They offer complimentary kayaks and paddleboards for guests, and we squeezed in a morning paddle before checkout -- we saw so many manatees! It's not glamorous, but that's exactly the charm. It's authentic, relaxed, and unpretentious. There's a great variety of accommodations, from cottages to RV's to rent, making it perfect for families or anyone who loves a kitchy, waterfront escape.

I'm so glad we went this direction! Sunset Cove is so unique and charming - from the moment you drive in you're greeted by a large, vintage sign with a swan boat. So you know the kitsch is coming! The grounds have a variety of fun animal lawn decor - my husband and I had so much fun trying to see them all, it felt like we discovered a new hidden one each day of our stay. At night, they're lit up with fun colors - feels like you're coming home to a mini-theme park! Aside from the fun lawn decor, the facilities are truly impressive - a little private beach just steps away from any cottage booked, a little social area with a large tv, a super cool tiki hut in front of the office that has breakfast bites available in the morning. The private beach especially was really appreciated - it may have actually been one of the best on the island from the ones we ventured out to. A nice little sandy bar, plenty of beach chairs, and a few large tiki huts that shield you very well from any unexpected rain. We stayed in the Bayview cottage, which was one of the closest to the private beach and had a little fridge and counter area for prepping food. Also, I really loved the little vanity with a mirror and ledge in the living space that came in handy for getting ready while the bathroom was occupied. I was so impressed with the cleanliness and maintenance of the rooms. Although the location and grounds are a bit rustic, the rooms are kept very clean and updated. Even small things like the paint on the walls and decor - it seems almost like it was painted and decorated yesterday! Everything is kept up. Lastly, I really appreciated that the office highlights the history of the property and gives a little story about Sunset Cove. I really loved learning that the property once was a manatee sanctuary. I think this history would also be great to feature in their website. Before we left, we had to get a photo in the swan boat at the main entrance and Julissa from the front desk was so kind to come take multiple photos for us even though it was super hot out. Overall, was delighted with our fun stay at Sunset Cove and will definitely be back in the future!
