Bully's makes the most amazing smoked meats that really don't even need the BBQ sauces for flavor! Their fries are delicious too. The wait for those is a bit longer because they only fry them once they're ordered. All in all, the best down home cooking you can get in this area. This is a really great bbq place for some high quality authentic hot dogs, fries, and burgers. Everything is basically jumbo size. One fry from bully's is practically equivalent to 20 mcdonald fries. The hot dogs are bigger than a wendy's burger. I always leave this place full. But I am giving this place 3 stars because the wait is insanely long. In fact, it has the longest wait time of any bbq I have ever visited. For the past two visits in a row, I waited over an hour, when on average most restaurant waiting times are 40 minutes max. I could be wrong, but it seems like none of the servers or chefs are in a rush, and they will make your food when they feel like it. I'm not impatient, but Bully's needs to bring up their waiting times up to a competitive, commertcial level. Food = great. Service = could be better. read more

Love the smokers outside and we enjoyed the fall off the bone ribs, made it too easy to eat. The burgoo was mild and chocked full of meat. Onion rings were okay, not skinny or fat and not in-house made. Lots of good desserts on the counter, and que place must have banana pudding and they do. Feels out of the way, but the drive is nice along the river. Good eating, food could have been a tick hotter, sauces were good and you get put on the spot to pick one when ordering at the counter. read more

The food was really good. I didn't necessarily like the gumbo but everything else was delicious. The ribs fell right off the bone & the baked beans taste like they came directly off the smoker as well. The owner was at the register and she was very friendly and welcoming to us. I don't even know where to begin. Ambiance 11/10. This is the perfect Barbeque place. This place owned by Robert, run by Robert and loved by Robert. His passion for excellent Barbeque food shows all the way through. Smokers are self built. The man was outside when we came in, attending to the smokers and cooking. I had the Brisket Sandwich. I always start with the brisket. I'll be back to try other meats in the near future. The brisket was good. I had only 3 nice slices for the sandwich. I wish I had more. Some brisket was moist while the other was of a different part of the brisket. The variety was nice. With the sandwich plate, you get 2 sides. Mac n Cheese was good. Salt and pepper to your taste. The beans were excellent. With a nice bourbon sauce, not too heavy on salt, sugar or bourbon, just a nice well made pounded bourbon beans. Again, salt to your liking. I think it is best to not over salt your food and allow those enjoying it to salt to their liking. This way the real flavor has a chance and not overpowered or dependent on the additions. It's been a while since I updated so. We haven't had a fish sandwich for a while so we decided to get some for lunch. Since their move business appears to be slowly coming back. We ordered ahead by phone so our order would be ready when we got there. When we arrived there were four large cookers putting out that great smelling smoke. They are also expanding their outdoor dining area to get ready for spring. We got our order and headed home to enjoy. We noted that many items on the menu have increased in price due to what's happening with food prices. We understand why and that's why we will continue to support. We hope that when food prices start going down that they will reward their customers with appropriate lower prices. read more

This place used to be great. The last two times I got the baby back ribs, they were so dry I could put a fork in them. The ribs used to be wrapped in plastic wrap to hold moisture. Not anymore. Just left Bully's, on a Thursday night. Lots of people coming out tonight for the barbecue. It is in a unique location down hwy 42 in the Skylight area. So for the most part, destination dining and a local favorite amongst the Oldham County crowd. Good news, bad news. We ordered a half slab of ribs, a pound of pulled pork, slaw and green beans, plus a couple of cokes. First problem was the coke was out of co2. So we returned the cokes we had and asked for fresh once the co2 was filled. Waited a while. Went back to the counter to find our cokes. Still flat. Finally we switched to two bottled cokes. Our food came. Pulled pork was good, as was the sides. However, the slab was terrible. Just terrible. The plate was presented as what looked like a skeleton of bones. Meat was already off on the plate. Dry as a bone. Tasteless. Very disappointing. Didn't make a big deal of it given our experience with the drinks. When asking for a Togo box for pork mentioned to one of the staff about the condition of the slab and how awful it was. "I'll let them know". I hope you do. read more

Love the food, the brisket had a lot of flavor, the mushrooms were excellent as we're the onion rings. Dog friendly, lots of seating outside. You do Not "need" sauce, but like my chef brother David makes, the sauce adds a great experience to your taste buds, just remember, a little goes a long ways. Smoky deliciousness. The owner, Miss B, I met is simply kind and polite. Pretty huge menu, with paper posted specials you do not want to miss. i.e. rib tips and smoked meat loaf. Bully is one of the better barbecue spots around Louisville. I really enjoy their smoked wings (requires 4 hour prior notice), pork and brisket. The Bully Potato is good and is absolutely enormous. Prices are fair. I recommend you try Bully out if you are in the mood for some good Q. read more

I normally have no issue writing a review for a place that I dine at. The review for Bully has been hard. I really really wanted to like their BBQ. I have been back three times in the hope that the previous visit was not representative of their BBQ. I can say this, they are consistent. Another reason I struggled with the review is that they continue to win various BBQ awards, so I kept trying their BBQ in the hope of getting an award-winning serving. I never did. The issue I have with the BBQ is the smoke taste. Now I normally enjoy a good smoke, but the items I tried at Bully had nothing but smoke taste in them. The smoke flavor was so overpowering that smoke was all I could taste. The meat seemed to be of good quality, but I could not taste it. I tried various sides, and they were all OK, but I went for the BBQ. Now I did really like their BBQ sauce, but again, that is not why I go to a BBQ place. The staff was very friendly, the service was great, and they were packed every time I went, so people do like their BBQ. So if you like a lot of smoke flavor, Bully is your place. My family and I came in here on Saturday evening for dinner. We were pleased with our selection of barbecue for a Saturday evening dinner I have never been here, so this is kind of off the beaten path and my dad has been wanting to try this place for many weeks now since you found out about it. We go in and we order our food. I personally got the full pork plate and macaroni With baked beans. I am going to give my pork a four my macaroni a two and the beans a three meet was definitely the best of the options. My wife got the big giant potato and she gave that a four my dad gave his meal overall 3 1/2 is what he said he said he would come back, but overall this is a nice place. We enjoyed the food. The ambience was just OK. It was just your typical barbecue place. Service was pretty good they were personable.
