I rarely write a 1 star review. If I do it would be reason I wouldn't come back. In this case, my wife wouldn't come back and I agree. Our grandchildren, 8 y/o Jace and 6 y/o Cali wanted to go out for Chinese food. The restaurant closest to our home and the Best in the Southern Indiana was sold and no where near what it used to be, so we thought to try the one near our grandchildren's home in Charlestown Indiana. A week ago, wife, Jace and I visited CG and found the food okay, at best. We had an issue with the owner charging us above what the menu pricing was. This time I planned to avoid that. We entered the restaurant and I showed the owner a menu which I grabbed on my way in the door. My wife and grandchildren were next to me and I told the owner this time I would like to be charged what the menu prices state. She said, she would charge me for 4 adults. I looked at her and pointed to my little grandchildren and said you are charging adult for them also? She asked me how old they were. I said 1 is 6 and 1 is 8. She then asked me if we were coming on or not. My wife looks at me and says, "that is rude." Perhaps it was, but I'm a little thicker skin than that. I felt like we drove all this way and there isn't much else in Charlestown so we are going to come on. I accepted what she printed up and planned to do the math before leaving and bring it up to her then, since there was other people standing there waiting. The prices for a Sunday lunch are $4.20 for 6 y/o and $5.37 for 8 y/o. My wife and I would be $8.78 each. That makes a TOTAL of $27.13. I told her we would all have water, no sodas. My receipt was $35.45. The amount on the receipt doesn't break down food and drinks, but she must have charged for drinks also. That would total $33.13. Perhaps there is a tax of $2.32. I can't tell by receipt. Last week, when wife, Jace and I visited the restaurant, the owner said we HAD to buy drinks even though I said we didn't want soft drinks. The food was almost okay for me for what I found to eat. The grandchildren are kind of picky and didn't eat much. Wife gets what she usually has, one of which is General Tso's chicken. On this occasion she found only 1 of pieces of breaded chicken had chicken in it. The rest were just breading. I am wired to eat ALL the food I take at a restaurant and tried to teach my grandchildren the same way. I'm sorry to say, on this rare occasion I left food on my plate. The chicken on a stick was rather tough and not wanting to come off the stick. I would still say the food is "okay" at best. In any case, I let my wife and grandchildren walk out while I discussed my receipt and menu prices with the owner who works at the cash register. Her demeaner took a strange turn when I questioned the difference in the receipt and prices on the menu. The owner told me she had the lowest prices anywhere. I asked her why she didn't honor the prices on the menu. She said she has been in this restaurant for 22 years. I told her perhaps she needs to change the prices on the menus to reflect what she charges. She told me. "thank you for your advice." I smiled and asked if she was going to change the prices on the menu or charge what the menu states. She said, "I don't speak good English." Ha! I told her I am finished and can't come back again. I think the only time I give 1 star is when things are just unacceptable and I won't revisit. This is one of those times. I really don't like when this happens, but being accurate and transparent is important to me, especially where it applies to dealing with customers and their concerns. I have worked in the customer service field and did treated customers as I would want to be treated. I am also a stickler when it comes to MATH. I hope this isn't something that happens to everyone that comes on in at CG.

My wife and I were hesitant to eat here when we saw some bad reviews but we went anyways! And we are so glad we did, it was so delicious. The food was fresh and hot and a good variety. You pay when you get there and then eat all you want. It's a nice place. There isn't any AC though so they had fans going and in the heat of summer it was warm but didn't bother us. Will be here again. Wasn't that busy for a Friday might. We will definitely be back.

The wife and I eat here quite frequently. Consistently good. If you're anywhere around Charlestown, IN, you should go.

Has really good food at a fare price! All the food is good. The buffet comes with a drink for free.

Wish they made their egg rolls from scratch. If this place would deliver, I swear they would make a killing.

This is the more authentic Amish restaurant of the two in the area (Stoll's in Loogootee is the…read moreother one). That gives you a very obvious option if you want Amish style food. While this one does offer a buffet option, they don't have enough options to really make that worthwhile. The other place is the buffet place. This is the cafeteria place, but it's not as expensive, and the food is just as good. And you get plenty of it in the meal. I'm a big eater, and I'm always satisfied by the plate lunch. Outside of the building, you can see the farm where a lot of their food is grown. I've been here probably a dozen times, and each time was a treat, with fresh food from their local gardens and farms. Unlike Stoll's, they grow their own foods. Like I said, it's authentic Amish. The cafeteria style tables make for a more pleasant and comfortable atmosphere than Stoll's. Surprisingly, the restrooms here are cleaner than Stoll's, where the restrooms are often out of order. This is a much more pleasant experience at Schwartz's. The servers are very nice and helpful. There is a small area for their Amish store of honey, fresh vegetables, and other delights. Where they excel is their pies. While their competitor uses cheap packet pies, Schwartz's has homemade pies, all fresh. I highly recommend the blueberry cream pie and the peach pie. A nice view of the rural surroundings, even if it is on the highway, but so is the other Amish place. The atmosphere is very nice. There is a lot of good feeling in the air. Sometimes, there are folk style musicians in the adjoining room, if you go for that. This is a customer friendly place, and they care about what they do and about the people they serve.

We showed up and they had one meat option out which was what looked like left over fajitas, and like 2 side items. We had to prepay full price and we thought maybe they are still putting items out or in the middle of refreshing. We was wrong they never added more food to bar or brought out more variety. The only thing they had a large variety of and wasn't almost out was prepackaged little Debbie snack cakes. Also place was not the cleanest.

I started with a huge center cut pork chop. It had a great grilled flavor and a very interesting tomato based sauce. Next there was tasty smoked sausage which was surrounded by a large variety of grilled vegetables. I don't eat veggies but I could tell those who do would be happy as well. Then I had some tasty taco beef and I topped it with some cool bean sauce and cheese and sour cream. I also had a nice piece of steak very flavorful. The iced tea was nice and strong. I also had a glass of orange and even it was better than normal it was strong on syrup with a good bite. Next the deserts. At first I was disappointed because they looked like they came from Walmart. However, when I tasted them I was blown away again. The lemon cake was moist and tasted like the delicious lemon archway cookies from my childhood. Next I tried a pumpkin cream log. The spices were perfect and the filling had an excellent balance of tangy cream cheese and sweet. The lunch buffet was $15 drink included. Not only was it the most real and flavorful meal I've had in years but the couple running the place are super friendly and keep the buffet very well maintained. The place was completely clean including the restrooms. The only thing I was missing was some bread or mashed potatoes, but I think they have those sometimes just not the day I went.

There were a couple people there already, but I was so impressed how everything was like brand new and inviting. Elaine and Daniela were so cheerful and accomadating. The food was SO good and the service was impeccable. I'm so glad my brother likes GB as much as I do. We visited just a couple weeks ago and agree GB is the best Chinese restaurant in Southern Indiana. I look forward to visiting again soon. My highlights on this visit were the salmon which is very tasty, crab Rangoon, spring rolls, stuffed mushrooms and chicken on a stick to name a few. Lastly, it wasn't long after my brother and I started at 1130 that MANY working people showed up and made for a good crowd. It wasn't too loud and the restaurant is noticeably CLEAN. Give Golden Blossom a try. Oh, my favorite dessert there is the fruit and little orange cakes.

They have limited food selections spread throughout the buffet area which is about half of what it used to be? Some were not very appealing to the eye.... I tried a rib which was mostly fat. Never been to a buffet that had signs telling you if you want your food warmer dip from the bottom of the pan? And the sushi looked like a trip to the ER waiting to happen. Service was pre bus and take your drink order. Ambiance was the same laid back and enjoyable. It was a disappointing experience to say the least. Unfortunately I will not return to one of my favorite eateries
