How they left our kitchen for months at a time

I am honestly baffled at the number of good reviews for Bull Run. Maybe they are usually better and we just got unlucky, but we had an awful experience with our kitchen remodel. Tracy, the salesman, was so nice and walked us through picking out tiles, counters, etc. He told us a lot of things, and later we realized he had lied to us. He told us that they only do one project at a time, and the crew would finish our project before moving on to the next (not true). He told us that there would always be someone on the crew who spoke English, but there was often no project manager on site and we would have to call to ask questions or have something clarified. He told us that we could buy decorative tiles to have incorporated into the backsplash, only for the crew to tell us that this wasn't possible. He told us not to waste our money on a hood vent, only for them to install one anyway despite us not having wanted one. I feel really stupid now for having been taken in by his whole sales pitch. It took four months for them to complete the project, and most of that time was days/weeks they weren't even at the house. Apparently even after measuring numerous times, they ordered the wrong cabinet and had to keep reordering it until it came (which took weeks). In the mean time, they left our kitchen an absolute mess. The crew never put up plastic sheets or made any attempt to keep the dust out of the rest of the house, and as a result, our first floor was COVERED in dust. It looked like a volcano had erupted. Our kids' playroom was effected the worst. We had to empty out our first floor and do a complete deep clean, and even then had to end up throwing out some of our son's toys. It was awful. I just cannot believe that anyone could be so unprofessional. When we raised concerns, we were brushed off. I think they vacuumed once. The crew used our bathroom (which is fine, I would never deny someone using the bathroom), but again, they made such a huge mess. I really did not enjoy cleaning up urine constantly and putting the seat down. They also used the fridge, and it was full of dust and drywall debris. If we could afford it, I would have a professional cleaner come in and clean all the dust and debris. The paint job was sloppy- they didn't use painters tape and got paint all over the trim. I mean, whatever. I can touch it up, but for $42k I thought they would be a bit more detail-oriented. We were left without socket covers and loose wiring for months (did I mention we have a baby and a toddler?). Overall, it was such a stressful and unprofessional experience. The kitchen looks ok now if you don't look at anything too closely. I would seriously discourage anyone from using this company.

I did a full kitchen remodel and went with Bull Run based of some research and reviews and I wish that I hadn't. The first day I showed up in the showroom to get some ideas, but I felt like i was being rushed to get things under contract. I had a feeling then that I should have just walked away, but after finding some pairings I liked, I just wanted to get it done. So I proceeded with the process after I was promised that I would have floor and cabinet samples when I would be picking out paint, granite and back splash. They promised 3-4 weeks to get started, but it ended up being 5-6 weeks. And then it got delayed further (likely because of CoVID-19???) after they set a date. Work started up and they were supposed to remove texturing from the walls. They only removed the visible parts though, which, fine whatever...the cabinets are covering up the rest so not a huge deal. Then the granite choosing day came and I showed up at the wearhouse and there were no samples so I was blindly matching granite to cabinets I haven't seen in over a month. Plus, I had to make the decision that day or everything would be delayed. And then even when I did make the decision, I was promised price X only to find out later they are charging me and extra ~$800. Moving on to backsplash....I had to go do my own research and buy materials myself on their timeline, and again, with no samples of granite, cabinets or hardwood. Next up was the paint. They rushed me to buy paint and had I to make a quick decision. So I did, but anyone that's ever painted a room knows that sometimes a color doesn't workout like you imagined, and this was definitely one of those cases. So I say, we need to fix this and they want to charge me an extra $700....neat. So you don't provide me with any samples or ideas, rush me to buy paint, then charge me when I'm not happy with the result? Now the process has been finished and I have 2 cabinets that don't open the whole way because they don't have clearance beside the stove and microwave. They open about 3/4 of the way and they tell me thats how its supposed to be. It definitely appears like there should have been a spacer of sorts there. But they said they won't fix it when I called them. They also left a 3-4" deep scratch in my stainless steel refrigerator and a surface scratch from top to bottom on my stainless steel dishwasher. The only thing they offered to cover it was an additional year on my warranty. This whole process was awful from start to finish for me. They weren't helpful throughout the process.

We are so very pleased with our bathroom remodel. Merhshad and his crew did a fabulous job with the marble work and overall the complete remodel. They are a prompt, courteous and professional crew. Even cleaning up behind themselves each evening after work. I appreciate the company not beginning the project until all the materials arrived to the house. That way our bathroom remained usable during the 4 month wait for cabinets etc. Cannot wait to get started on the kitchen. Pictures attached. Just beautiful I think you will agree.

Master bathroom, stand alone bathtub.

Our bathrooms turned out beautiful! So worth the investment. Sam and Richard were our go to guys on our project. Any questions or concerns they took care of it. The attention to detail, and suggestion of taking out a small wall, makes our bathroom look bigger. We are very happy with the results.

Love, love, love my new kitchen. I have a small kitchen, but Hakan moved some appliances and pantry around and the space feels three times bigger. He listened to my concerns and my "vision" and brought it to fruition. The crew was very polite and accommodating. My only concern was I would have liked more communication on the work schedule. But, again, what they did with what Iasked for is amazing.

I went to Floor & Decor in Manassas, VA. Because I wanted to redo my entire home flooring…read more I am resident that has no experience in flooring installation, so I was relaying on their "expertise" to get the right material. So, I visited few times the store because wanted to get different perspectives from different people at Floor & Decor since I am not a floor expert. After talking to them, I asked them to order some Cap-A-Thread. Floor & Decor told me that there were no Cap-A-Thread that worked with my floor and that they recommended ordering some other product. I told them that I wanted to make sure that it was close to the color of the floor I was choosing and that it would not shorten the threads because I had been in houses that the threads had been shorten and people had fallen down the steps. I showed them pictures of the stairs from many angles, and told them that I was not going to replace the rails or spindles from the stair. They said that the product I was going to order would work. Since I believed them, I ordered the product and then ordered the flooring. When I got the stair threads, they would not work for my stairs. The manager said to cut the nose of my stair threads and mount the thread that they provided which had a nose. The installers said that that would not be a good idea because people put the most force on the nose and that would break and be dangerous. Also, since I was installing to the spindles, part of the thread would not have a nose. Customer Service from Floor & Decor said that he would send an installer to check and never heard back from him. I kept calling him for weeks and no answer. In the meantime, I started doing my own research talking to Cap-A-Thread, Home Depot and Lowes. There were several colors from Cap-A-Thread that would have been close enough to the floor material I ordered. Cap-A-Thread recommends in their website not to cut thread noses and mentioned that they have two type of nose caps to fit different width of noses. After talking to several installers, they said that they usually do not like Floor & Decor because the people that work there do not have the expertise in installation, so they leave people hanging with products that do not work for them. Looking at the reviews in this site, it seems that that is the case. The product is beautiful. However, after going to other places like Lowes and Home Depot, I would have gotten it from them as well and both of them had price match and they said that I could return anything that I did not need. If you want a dependable place that is there for you with right customer service, I recommend not using Floor & Decor. If you still want to do business from Floor & Decor, I recommend going with an installer to make sure you choose the right parts. Do not trust Floor & Decor recommendations. Below, I am including pictures of the thread that they sent, the pictures of the stairs I showed them before I ordered the threads, the Cap-A-Thread that I was originally requesting and colors that would have been close match to my floor. Tip for consumers: Pictures may not show how it will really look after installed Orders may take really long time to be completed (beyond timeframe provided) Personnel working in this place may not have installation expertise Many installers do not like to work with Floor & Decor Many customers have had bad experience with Floor & Decor. I asked what cabinet distributors they used and she couldn't give me a name, she said they use many. I then asked what the difference would be between getting a particular cabinet color (not knowing what my options were or what would be in stock without a company name), and she said custom vs semi custom are just words and that it's all pretty much custom so it wouldn't make a difference. Upon asking a few more questions, she proceeded to tell me "I'm not sure if you saw, but our company has almost a 5-star review and that's almost unheard of". I didn't know what to make of it, but considering what some of their reviews mentioned, I felt as though we were going to get the same treatment. She said she'd get back to me by Friday with a quote and a visual of the kitchen updates-- it was Tuesday that day. We gave her a call that Friday afternoon to follow up and she insisted that the cabinet company was taking a while and that she'd get back to us by Monday the latest if not over the weekend. We waited and got nothing so my husband called her the following Wednesday without ever hearing from her. She continued to reassure us that she hasn't forgotten about us and that she'd get back to us by Monday for sure. It's now been 21 days and we got no updates or any communication from them. It's clear that this is a pattern for them and I'd advise someone looking to get work done by someone reliable and honest to look elsewhere.
