Bull Run renovated our kitchen and three bathrooms, including new cabinets, countertops, tile, and the relocation of plumbing. They also refinished hardwood floors on two floors of our house and repainted all the rooms on those floors. In addition, they replaced all the old, yellowed electrical sockets and light switches and added LED lights to most of the rooms. We are very happy with how it all turned out. Matt, as designer/project manager, was excellent to work with and kept things moving on schedule. From start to finish, the renovation took two months, which we felt was extremely reasonable given the extent of the work that needed to be done. I love my new kitchen! I got multiple quotes from other contractors and they were all way high and didn't include things I wanted. I walked into Bull Run Kitchen and Bath and had the best experience. The quote was low enough that I was able to add several upgrades I wanted. Sana was my project manager. He was awesome at communicating with me. I knew what to expect and I knew what he needed from me. Orlando did most of the work. He helped me figure out all the little details, like the locations of my recessed lights. I had total confidence in him. Ronald also did great work when Orlando wasn't available. Three weeks from start of demolition of my old kitchen to having a functional kitchen with water, lights, appliances, etc. One contractor had quoted me 8 weeks! We have thought long and hard about this review as we wanted to be fair and give this company a chance to fix their mistakes. However, I strongly recommend against Bull Run Kitchen and Bath on the basis that they hire bad contractors. We have had issues from the beginning and continue to have issues two years down the line. It wasn't until our floor tile cracked down the middle that I've finally decided to submit this review. Below is a list of issues that I'm happy to discuss in further detail should anyone be looking for a reference/recommendation. Our bathroom is very small in size (about 45sq ft) and the cost to this project was astronomical for the quality of work. First and foremost, the contractors initially used the wrong grout for our shower, which led to mold, holes, and leaks into our basement. When called upon to fix, they re-grouted; however, the contractor scratched a ton of the existing tiles and there are chips and scratches that remain (that could not have just happened for normal shower wear and tear- pretty obviously from a putty knife).There was also water damage to the basement wood. Furthermore, the window leaked water to the outside of our house which they eventually had to replace. They also installed the shower head too tall for the size of the bathtub, so it can't be used correctly and sprays outside the shower. And, in October, our floor tile cracked through the middle which led to eventually write this review. Although the bathroom looks nice from afar, the craftsmanship (or lack thereof) is telling when you look closely. I did not know how to accurately quantify a rating for this company, so I've left it at a solid "two stars" for the fact that they did attempt to help fix and extended our warranty. All of that said, they still hire bad contractors so we're left with bad results. read more

I am honestly baffled at the number of good reviews for Bull Run. Maybe they are usually better and we just got unlucky, but we had an awful experience with our kitchen remodel. Tracy, the salesman, was so nice and walked us through picking out tiles, counters, etc. He told us a lot of things, and later we realized he had lied to us. He told us that they only do one project at a time, and the crew would finish our project before moving on to the next (not true). He told us that there would always be someone on the crew who spoke English, but there was often no project manager on site and we would have to call to ask questions or have something clarified. He told us that we could buy decorative tiles to have incorporated into the backsplash, only for the crew to tell us that this wasn't possible. He told us not to waste our money on a hood vent, only for them to install one anyway despite us not having wanted one. I feel really stupid now for having been taken in by his whole sales pitch. It took four months for them to complete the project, and most of that time was days/weeks they weren't even at the house. Apparently even after measuring numerous times, they ordered the wrong cabinet and had to keep reordering it until it came (which took weeks). In the mean time, they left our kitchen an absolute mess. The crew never put up plastic sheets or made any attempt to keep the dust out of the rest of the house, and as a result, our first floor was COVERED in dust. It looked like a volcano had erupted. Our kids' playroom was effected the worst. We had to empty out our first floor and do a complete deep clean, and even then had to end up throwing out some of our son's toys. It was awful. I just cannot believe that anyone could be so unprofessional. When we raised concerns, we were brushed off. I think they vacuumed once. The crew used our bathroom (which is fine, I would never deny someone using the bathroom), but again, they made such a huge mess. I really did not enjoy cleaning up urine constantly and putting the seat down. They also used the fridge, and it was full of dust and drywall debris. If we could afford it, I would have a professional cleaner come in and clean all the dust and debris. The paint job was sloppy- they didn't use painters tape and got paint all over the trim. I mean, whatever. I can touch it up, but for $42k I thought they would be a bit more detail-oriented. We were left without socket covers and loose wiring for months (did I mention we have a baby and a toddler?). Overall, it was such a stressful and unprofessional experience. The kitchen looks ok now if you don't look at anything too closely. I would seriously discourage anyone from using this company. read more

I want to give Bull Run Kitchen & Bath negative stars based on my experience with them but, alas, Yelp does not allow that. Where to start--the flooring, which 7 months post-installation is coming up? The trim replaced with said flooring, which remains unpainted and was attached with the minimum number of finish nails, requiring me to attach and reattach? The cabinet doors which rub against other cabinets/marble countertop/wall corners because spacers weren't used? How about the fact that a final inspection still has not occurred, now 13+ months after we signed the contract? The cabinetry is top-notch and their manufacturer should be commended. Aside from the door rub issues, the kitchen itself is beautiful and the gentlemen who spent 6 weeks installing everything were professional and wonderful to host. The flooring? I cannot caution potential customers enough to avoid Bill Run for any type of flooring; the team they used was poor at best and their "finished" product is a travesty compared to the exorbitant price we paid. The project manager was efficient when he responded but I cannot say the same for others in the company (we had to go to the showroom and get answers on the status of our project in-person because they never once emailed me back after we signed their contract). I did a full kitchen remodel and went with Bull Run based of some research and reviews and I wish that I hadn't. The first day I showed up in the showroom to get some ideas, but I felt like i was being rushed to get things under contract. I had a feeling then that I should have just walked away, but after finding some pairings I liked, I just wanted to get it done. So I proceeded with the process after I was promised that I would have floor and cabinet samples when I would be picking out paint, granite and back splash. They promised 3-4 weeks to get started, but it ended up being 5-6 weeks. And then it got delayed further (likely because of CoVID-19???) after they set a date. Work started up and they were supposed to remove texturing from the walls. They only removed the visible parts though, which, fine whatever...the cabinets are covering up the rest so not a huge deal. Then the granite choosing day came and I showed up at the wearhouse and there were no samples so I was blindly matching granite to cabinets I haven't seen in over a month. Plus, I had to make the decision that day or everything would be delayed. And then even when I did make the decision, I was promised price X only to find out later they are charging me and extra ~$800. Moving on to backsplash....I had to go do my own research and buy materials myself on their timeline, and again, with no samples of granite, cabinets or hardwood. Next up was the paint. They rushed me to buy paint and had I to make a quick decision. So I did, but anyone that's ever painted a room knows that sometimes a color doesn't workout like you imagined, and this was definitely one of those cases. So I say, we need to fix this and they want to charge me an extra $700....neat. So you don't provide me with any samples or ideas, rush me to buy paint, then charge me when I'm not happy with the result? Now the process has been finished and I have 2 cabinets that don't open the whole way because they don't have clearance beside the stove and microwave. They open about 3/4 of the way and they tell me thats how its supposed to be. It definitely appears like there should have been a spacer of sorts there. But they said they won't fix it when I called them. They also left a 3-4" deep scratch in my stainless steel refrigerator and a surface scratch from top to bottom on my stainless steel dishwasher. The only thing they offered to cover it was an additional year on my warranty. This whole process was awful from start to finish for me. They weren't helpful throughout the process. read more

A representative came to my home yesterday to give an estimate on my master and hallway bathroom. He started off the appointment by trying to discourage me from selecting them. He told me they had a 4-month wait before they could start if I selected them. When I continued on, he stopped me mid sentence to tell me he didn't want to waste my time or his. He said the job would be about $15k for my small master bathroom. I didn't tell him that couldn't afford it, I just questioned the price for such a small bathroom. He assumed I couldn't pay that, and said that he doesn't like to string people along. At that point, I realized that my jobs were too small and not worth BRKB's time or he thought it was out of my price range. He didn't need to discourage me anymore. The execution of that design was on point. They did such an outstanding job that I asked them to remodel my full bath upstairs as well as my half bath downstairs. We also had luxury vinyl Happy Feet brand flooring installed but because it wasn't leveled properly before install they have had to fix it twice which has been frustrating. I would recommend being very clear about properly installing the floor the first time. Rosalio was fantastic prioritizing our job and taking the time to make sure the floor was fixed properly. The warranty is very appreciated and they have been responsive to when we needed a lazy Susan replaced and minor tweaks once we lived in the new kitchen. First of all, make sure you read the recent reviews that are hidden by Yelp. Click on the little tiny link they have in gray that you can barely see that reads "not currently recommended." The reviews Yelp shows by default are not indicative of the business. If you're clipping coupons for a kitchen renovation, maybe you should hold off. We spent over a year looking for a contractor. From big box stores, to Swedish stores, to do-it-yourself, we could not find a decent solution. We realized our kitchen needed to be done by a professional. It was sheer luck that we stumbled on to Bull Run Kitchen and Bath. We found them online, submitted a form and Hakan was in our house measuring within a few days. By that Saturday, we were in his shop looking at the design. He brought it up on a giant TV, my wife and I were able to see the kitchen in 3D in order to make decisions about the layout. Hakan gave us two options for a custom wine bar by our sliding glass door. After that, we walked the showroom where we selected cabinets, countertops, sink (and sink configuration!), backsplash, drawer pulls, and faucet. Everything was there, and Hakan helps you make decisions if you get stuck. We asked for references, and Hakan was able to immediately provide six of them. I called each one, and they all said great things. Even the people that I left voicemails for, called me back to praise Bull Run. Here's the great thing. It truly is a one stop shop. His price is the price, he doesn't charge you extra for anything they run into. As an example, in order to get the power to the island, they had to run electrical lines under the house through the crawl space. I would expect that any other company would charge you extra to do that, Bull Run did not. The kitchen is amazing, and they did all the work. The electrical, the installation, the plumbing is all done by their workers. And, they stand by everything they do. If anything happens in the next two years, all I have to do is send a text message to Hakan to get it fixed. That's piece of mind. Overall, we were extremely pleased with the overall end result of our kitchen renovation project from Bull Run Kitchen & Bath. We would rate the overall quality and craftsmanship of Bull Run at 5 stars. In addition to their skilled craftsmanship, Bull Run K&B was also very amenable and flexible in customizing our contract before and during installation to accommodate additional modifications requested by the homeowner. However, we encountered a number of challenges and frustrations with their execution of the project, with lackluster performance in the areas of communications and installation. Our rating for these two areas is 2.5 stars respectively, and our overall satisfaction rating for Bull Run is 3.75 stars. First, let's address two examples of communication mishaps by Bull Run. On the very first day of the project, we came home to a fully demolished kitchen, and no one told us beforehand that this activity was happening, leaving us to make unplanned dinner arrangements given we had no appliances. We did set-up a group text chat to ensure timely communications on activities, but Bull Run did not always provide timely updates into the activities. Another mishap on communications involved the lack of advance notice to make paint color, countertop, and backsplash selections. In each instance, we were provided extremely short notice to make these final design decisions. Specifically, we were notified on a Friday and were given that one immediate weekend to make final selections before the Monday that followed. Everything worked out in the end, but the lack of advance notice on Bull Run's part caused us to make rush decisions. Our perspective is homeowners should be afforded more advance notice when it comes to making decisions of this nature. Installation was another area where we encountered challenges and frustrations with Bull Run. First, in prep for the painting portion of the project, Bull Run lost several pieces of our blinds accessories and hardware and inadvertently trashed some pieces. The accessories/hardware had to be ordered and replaced by Bull Run. As for another example, the installation crew exhibited carelessness around our house by dropping items, moving items haphazardly, and not regularly using protection coverings for the floor, cabinets, and countertop. This resulted in either damaged property or widespread dirt and dust on newly installed furnishings. Another example of carelessness and rushing the job came from the hardwood floor guy that Bull Run outsourced. Sometime during the hardwood floor installation, the crew placed various objects, cut wood, debris, and trash onto our fireplace floor resulting in the pilot light button getting hit and going out. Bull Run did ultimately address the issue in the end by hiring a separate fireplace contractor, but not after re-directing the blame and insisting that Bull Run was not liable or responsible for the break. Additionally, the hardwood floor guy did not even-level the entire sub-floor before installation, resulting in some raised hardwood pieces being higher than others. Also, some hardwood pieces that were installed had deep imperfections and stains on them, resulting in their crew coming back to remove and eventually replace the bad hardwood pieces. Overall, as a result of the aforementioned issues, our kitchen renovation project inevitably resulted in a lengthy delay of the project close-out. Specifically, instead of a project that was forecasted to last 6-8 weeks, our specific renovation project lasted 4 months. We do believe Bull Run K&B was capable of finishing the project within the original estimate of 6-8 weeks, but their carelessness in the aforementioned areas inevitably added up to the 2-month delay. We applaud Bull Run for ultimately addressing all of the aforementioned issues and delivering an excellent high-quality product in the end. We absolutely love our kitchen renovation, but we would be negligent if we didn't mention the challenges and frustrations we faced along the way during installation. read more

They removed a wall and new cabinets/sink/ granite top along with the miscellaneous electrical and plumbing to accommodate the fridge new location. After Bull Run Kitchen & Bath did such an incredible job remodeling our kitchen, it was a no-brainer asking them to work their same magic on our old 1970s bathroom. Like the kitchen, we weren't looking to overhaul the architecture of the room, simply modernize the amenities and apply a contemporary "facelift" to the room's design. Once again, Bull Run Kitchen & Bath satisfied both of those desires for us, and they did so efficiently, professionally, on time, and within budget. Matt definitely had a busier schedule to juggle compared to the last time we worked with him, but he still managed to provide us with the same personalized customer care and attention to detail that attracted us to Bull Run in the first place. Even though the special tile we chose set the schedule back three months (a shipping issue unrelated to Bull Run), Matt and his team were flexible and accommodating. Once the work began, the crew demonstrated a real dedication and pride in their craft. The tile work was done artfully and with careful attention to detail. The crews were neat and polite and keen to offer suggestions as well as take direction. When the medicine cabinet arrived with broken glass (a shipping issue unrelated to Bull Run), Matt worked with us and the manufacturer to replace it and get it installed without adding too many extra days to the schedule. All in all we could not be happier with our new bathroom. It is stylish, modern, and a significant upgrade in both features and accessibility. Do not expect good service. I had Hakan B., who said he was the owner, come to my house to measure my bathroom for a basic, least expensive remodel estimate to re-tile the floor and shower stall. My bathroom, including the the shower stall, is a total of 51 inches by 84 inches (4.25 feet by 7 feet). I have a coupon that says a bathroom complete package starts at $5,900 for a 5'x7' bathroom. I will include a picture of the coupon mailer. Problem number one, after Hakan came and measured (July 27th) I did not get a call back or email so I had to call and ask for it on August 4th. I waited for a call or email and called again that Friday and left another message. Then I called again Tuesday the 11th after still not getting a phone call back. I know, at this point who wants a company to do any work on their house if they cannot even call back right, but I wanted to know what they would offer. Finally I received a generic letter with a list of tasks with a price of $9250.00, well above the $5900 offered in the coupon, with no itemization to explain the costs. Number two, I called to discuss the proposal and was told by another owner, Matt, that he would call me back today. I waited until 4:15 to call again myself. This time I talked to another man who laughed when I asked if he could explain why they send out a coupon with a specific starting price if they cannot offer it. He told me it was not possible for anyone to do a 5'x7' bathroom for the price on their coupon except maybe a handyman. Then I asked why they would lie and send a coupon out with a price they could not back and he asked me a hypothetical question, would I rather pay more for good materials or less for bad materials all the while speaking to me in a condescending tone. I asked if he could simply have the owner call me to discuss my proposal. Number 3, not ten minutes later Hakan called me and was angry because I wanted to know what the $9250.00 would pay for and why I could not have the itemized estimate. He talked over me very loudly. I told him I had tried to call several times and just received our estimate this Tuesday and it was not itemized. He could have cared less. He was rude and mean. Bull Run did a total renovation of my master bathroom as well as partial renovations of two additional bathrooms. Cemmy, the project manager, was pleasant and easy to work with throughout the process. He was more than accommodating to make everything turn out just the way we wanted it. Jhasmani did all actual construction with the exception of countertops and glass enclosure. He is a perfectionist and his work is impeccable. I had Bull Run Kitchen and Bath remodel my kitchen. It turned out good, but the hinges the company used had a single screw holding them in and after a year, most needed to be replaced. I figured since they did a good job with the kitchen, I hired them to do two bathrooms, recarpet the stairs, stain and paint the stair railings as well as some other custom remodel repairs. I was told the entire project would take about 2 weeks. They barely got half the project done in the last 3 years. I had to order the cabinets not once, but twice because they didn't have any record of ordering them the first time. I've checked back a few times and they claim they still haven't gotten them. I waited a year and finally did the work myself. I'm disabled and used to do all repairs / construction at home myself. I just thought that I would have someone else do the work this time. Never again, if you want something done right, do it yourself. read more

I would say follow through is their down fault with their work!!! Nothing but headaches from the very beginning, and they had to change crews. Tried to be upbeat but they only honored a portion of their two year warranty. If they honored their agreement we would provide a higher rating and use them again. Not the case!!!!!
