Great takeout spot. If you dine in it's a one man gang usually. What does that mean? It means the server is the bartender and is responsible for taking care of every guest. I had read about this place and then looked at some of the Yelp reviews. You would go here for the food quality. Not so much the ambience or dining experience. It would be a good stop for outdoor dining when the weather is good. It's essentially Korean fast food. Everything you order is in a 'to go' box and they encourage take out. I had the beef bulgogi with rice, it was $19 bucks, a bit on the pricey side since most of it was rice. It was good flavor though, not overpowered with onions or scallions like so many other places. I wanted to get my husband to try Bibimbap for once in his life...so chose this place. I'm actually not a huge fan of Bibimbap, but I loved their version...and thought he'd enjoy it too. For once, my son came along to check out this place. Well, both my husband and I ordered their Bibim Bowl, but my husband chose Fried Chicken (?!?) instead of the traditional Bulgogi. With Fried Chicken, it's actually an American fusion kinda thing...not really a full-on Korean dish. Oh Well...I tried. My son also ordered this Korean Chicken. We also ordered 2 plates of Potstickers (always a favorite here!) and Miso Soup. Well, before I get to the foods, I must confess that I was disappointed with the presentation of all the foods this time. Their Potstickers are usually quite beautiful, but not this time. Even our Bibimbowl was delivered quite messy...with no effort in making it look aesthetic at all. Typically, you're supposed to be able to clearly see all the veggies included in the bowl (usually 6-8?). Well, I actually "fixed" my bowl before taking pictures. Prior to me fixing the dish, I could barely see all the separate veggies...as the Bulgogi was just loosely piled on top of all the veggies...as if they were just dumped over them, without making any effort to separate them (as should be the case!). Same with my husband's bowl! For such sloppy presentation of all the foods, I must dock a star this time. We noticed that the egg was overcooked...it was supposed to be runny, but it was hardened. Also, the Miso Soup wasn't as piping hot as usual when delivered to the table. So yeah, a few things were amiss this time. Normally I'd dock another star for foods not meeting expectations...but overall, the foods still tasted REALLY good. The service was good too...as usual. In any case, I'm glad my husband tried the Bibimbap...though not the authentic version. He seemed to like it. My son seemed to like his Chicken too...though I know he would have preferred it with Fries. I came here on a Saturday night with my cousin after not being able to find a table anywhere else in the area. We were walking to Leroy Fox when we decided to come here instead. The ambiance is modern, clean and quaint. We were promptly seated by the only waiter working but boy was he efficient. He kept all the water glasses filled and his timing was impeccable even though most of the tables were full. We ordered the blueberry julep and the tea-quila party for cocktails. Both were pretty tart but they got the job done. For dinner we got the bibi bowl and the beef bulgogi noodles. Both were really good. I wish the noddles had something green in them. I don't think the reservation was needed since it wasn't very busy. We had $5 mimosas (can't beat that!), K-corn dog, potstickers, fried pork ribs, and the Bibim Bowl. The mimosa,K-dog, and potstickers were good, didn't really stand out 5/10. The ribs and Bibim Bowl were 9/10 I'd definitely get it again. I'm a little harsher on our experience here than my husband, primarily because the restaurant touts its authentic Korean food and...not so much. Bibimbap is one of my favorite Asian dishes. By the time I pry rice off the bottom of that sizzling hot pan, all the flavors have mingled to make the sticky baked rice a real treat. We paid extra for the hot pot (weird since how can you have bibimbap without it?) but inside the rice wasn't baked onto the surface at all. The bowl wasn't even especially hot. Likewise the bulgogi wasn't especially authentic in flavor either; it was as if a southerner made BBQ pork and then added chili paste to try to make it Korean. Don't get me wrong. The food was perfectly acceptable for people not expecting genuine Korean food, like those who are content with Olive Garden as their version of Italian fine dining. My other bone of contention was getting through dinner without one check to see if we needed anything...and as far as I knew we were the only customers at the time. We were outside on their patio so we never saw anyone to flag down. (The patio is tremendous for people watching, BTW. Highly recommend.) I don't need someone hanging over me, but at least come ask midway if we need anything or refill our water glasses. The service in general was sluggish to the point of dismissive. Our appetizer took 20 minutes to arrive, outrageously slow for potstickers. We saw our server when the main course arrived and for the check. That was it. At least pretend you care, man. So all in all, Bulgogi Box gets a resounding eh from me for being basically the PF Chang's of Korean food. Could have been worse but could have been so much better. As a seasoned traveler and foodie who has had the privilege of traveling to South Korea, I was deeply impressed by Bulgogi Box! My partner and I came for date night and ordered drinks and 4 dishes which totaled to about $70 (without tip) - extremely reasonable! The fries were perfectly crispy and the spicy aioli was a great accompaniment. The boneless Korean fried chicken was extraordinarily crunchy, doused in a tangy sauce with some heat. The kimchi was fabulous. And the spicy pork bulgogi box bowl was my favorite! The meat was tender and well seasoned with the perfect amount of fat rendered, on top of a bed of soft, warm white rice that was mixed in the sauce that went over the pork. I rarely finish my entire plate when I go out to eat. For the first time in memory, I did so here! We will definitely be back for more! I've had the chance to try remarkable food in South Korea, and to me, Bulgogi Box is as close as you can get for affordable and delicious Korean food in Charlotte. Sure, you can go to a fancy and upscale place for an expensive and high quality meal that is traditional KBBQ, but you can also enjoy Korean food that is just as delicious here! I've lived in this area for 12 years and I'm glad to see that there are finally some good options for my favorite cuisine! My server was very attentive and assisted with the menu since this was my first visit. My starter: Fried Pork Ribs - Spicy Korean [$18] My entree: BIBIM Bowl [$19.25] The ribs were good and the spicy korean sauce has a good kick to it! But the BIBIM bowl was delicious - I went with the beef! A side comes with the BIBIM Bowl and I selected their miso soup. That was a bad decision ... it wasn't good. My server recomended getting the BIBIM in a hot pot. I went with this recommendation ... FYI it's a $1 charge for the hot pot. My total for everything came to $41.40 Parking ... I visited Saturday early evening so parking was scarce. HOWEVER there is a parking garage for residents/retail right behind the restaurant. This was outstanding Casual Korean Fare. It was so good, it broke my nearly year long hiatus with writing reviews to tell you about this place! My wife and I were a bit tired of the "usual" spots around Concord so we decided to get adventurous and find a place in South End that we hadn't been too -- best decision of the week so far. I'm going to be honest, I saw the prices online and I was a little hesitant at first, bear with me on that. We arrive a bit off-peak for lunch, and were told at the counter that it's counter service only until 5pm, which was perfectly fine. We ordered B.B. Frites, Potstickers, Grilled Chicken Bulgogi Box, and a Korean Fried Chicken Bowl. Food arrived very quickly and all in to-go boxes (again, table service starts at 5pm). B.B Fries were quite good. Served with a "spicy" aioli and very crispy. They're seasoned with a Korean Spice Blend (appears to be mostly gochugaru) and hit all the right marks. The aioli was a nice touch, I wouldn't necessarily say spicy but to each their own. The main dishes, Grilled Chicken Bulgogi and the Korean Fried Chicken Bowl, were top notch as well. While we shared everything, I mostly leaned to the Fried Chicken Bowl. It was a perfect balance of savory notes, perfectly breaded chicken that delivered on crunch and flavor. Every addition had its place, from the runny egg that added creaminess, to corn with a great texture, and even chickpeas which I wasn't expecting but was very pleasing in this dish. It would be hard to try something new next time after ordering this today. I saved the best for last. The Potstickers are hands down the best pan dumpling I've tried in charlotte (even better than a certain lady that makes dumplings in Optimist Hall). The outer dumpling skin had a texture I've never seen around town. It reminded me of a thin tempura coating, a dumpling sleight of hand if you will. The pork and chicken filling was delicious, but the texture was the star of the show. I'm so glad we came here. I can't wait to come back and explore the rest of the menu. This is really a 2.5 in my book. I was excited for this restaurant to open because I love Korean cuisine (I had already drafted my review with 5-stars), but I was not impressed. The setup and ambiance fits perfectly into the flare of South End. However, it can get a little crowded and confusing if you're trying to order to-go, as there's not a good flow (we'll count that to the newness). The menu is pretty straight forward and the prices represent the surrounding area, so keep that in mind before going all out. I initially wanted to give the Korean Wings a try, but I decided to try the Beef Bulgogi Box and that totaled to $12.87... a little steep for lunch, but I figured what the heck! The cashier was nice and the other employees seemed to be smiling, so that counted towards the meal being worth it (maybe?Idk). I was provided a number and waited at the small table facing the window. I wasn't quite sure how I would know my order was ready, as there was not an announcement. I soon learned that there was a young lady with to-go orders going around to each person with a number to give them their order (there's room for improvement with that process, but again let's count it to the newness). Once I received my order, I was out of the door 15-20 minutes tops... which is typical for any busy lunch area. My disappointment came when preparing to enjoy my lunch. The Beef Bulgogi box is a very small portion for the price. The serving size could fit in my hand (by healthy standards that's a good thing, don't get me wrong... but I wasn't aiming to be healthy lol) and I probably would have let all of this slide had the taste been worth it. The beef taste as if it was grilled and tossed in soy sauce, then called Korean; very Americanized. Not to mention, once I started eating I realized that the beef consisted of more fat than actual meat. I cannot say that I will be trying this place again any time soon, but I am not going to count them out. Given the limited Korean food options in Charlotte, my friend and I have kept a close eye on this place since the spring. When Bulgogi Box finally opened their doors, we immediately had to check it out, and it did not disappoint! The flavors were spot on, and the staff was pleasant as well. I ordered the Spicy Pork Bibim Bowl for lunch. It was a hefty amount of food, yet the proportions of spicy pork, vegetables, & rice were well-balanced. I enjoyed every bite. There are a lot of other tempting options on the menu (plus a chalkboard with some enticing happy hour deals), so I plan to keep trying different items and figure out my favorites. The heartfelt memories of my mother's bulgogi (which I just realized after years of being Korean could be directly translated as "fire meat") led me to be intrigued by Charlotte's surprisingly well-Yelp-reviewed Korean BBQ restaurants. So we went to Bulgogi Box and got the spicy pork fried rice and, of course, the Bulgogi Box, and we were pleasantly satisfied. While the bulgogi lacked a true Korean seasoning (the true Korean Mother's Bulgogi), it was well-cooked, had the beauty of sesame oil, and the rice was delicious. The spicy pork fried rice is spicy, be warned, but the spice and the pork came together for a good-tasting dish. Also ordered Korean Fried Chicken Wings with spicy Korean red sauce (honey butter was not available, unfortunately), which was served with coleslaw (6 pieces for $9.50). It took a significantly long time to have it arrive at our table though. In fact, we were long done with our main course meal and ready to leave by the time our appetizer finally arrived. Not to mention, we spent most of our dinner waiting in general, constantly neglected. Waitresses passed by every so often but hardly glanced in our direction (note: we were not the only ones being neglected). They only came by to clean empty tables. It wasn't even packed at the restaurant. Our server did apologize a couple times about our forever pending order of wings and told us that she would put a "rush" on our order with the cook. It was beyond ridiculous, but still, we did not complain. We tried to stay patient and understanding. At some point, the manager/owner (?) came out to our table with our appetizer (finally!), but at that point, it was so late that we decided to pack it up in a to-go box and head home. We were beyond tired. However, we were told by our server that the manager was offering a complimentary dessert as an apology for how long it took to receive our appetizer. We had the lemon raspberry cake slice (normally $6), which was absolutely delicious. It had just the right amount of sweetness and was so moist! We were very appreciative of this kind gesture. When I got take-out, they gave us water while we waited. The menu is full of Korean flavors. You have options of salads, bowls with rice and wraps. There are two signature proteins, beef bulgogi (of course) and spicy pork. I don't normally hand out five stars especially when I haven't dined in, but when the food is so good, I start craving it, it deserves the best rating. The salad is good and has a nice light dressing. But the B.B. wrap is a game changer. This thing is huge. I got it with bulgogi and there was a lot of it. The wrap is a delicious scallion pancake. Paired with greens and pickled veggies, it is the perfect pairing of sweet and savory. If that's not enough, it's paired with the B.B. fries. I didn't realize this when I ordered. I'm trying not to eat fried foods, but one bite and soon I devoured the fries. They are dusted in a spice and served with aoili. I can't wait to try more from this restaurant. read more

I told him dine-in if that's okay, and he said "okay alright as long as you guys order quickly." we sat down, he brought us all waters to start then asked if we were ready to order. it had been maybe a minute. i told him to give us another minute because i had just sat down and opened the menu. he came back around maybe 2 minutes later and asked again impatiently and i asked my friend if he was ready, he was still deciding, but i went ahead and ordered while he was still looking, so he rushed and ordered something afterwards. the man didn't ask if we wanted something else to drink, which was fine for us because we would've stuck with water. the food came out really fast, but when he took it out he asked if we wanted to go boxes. i hadn't even gotten to take a bite. he also told us like 2 separate times that they close in 10 minutes but it was like 8:01 so that doesn't make any sense. what restaurant closes at 8:20? then at 8:04 he said they close in 5 minutes...he just wanted us out!! i couldn't even fully enjoy the meal because he was staring me down angrily the WHOLE meal. it was awful. and the food was incredible, that's the worst of it all. the vibe was even nice, beautiful decor and music. i felt so rushed so i ate really quickly even though it wasn't even 8 yet and they supposedly close at 9. after a couple minutes, the man started to really obnoxiously put the chairs up and roll his eyes and shake his head when passing us by. then i saw him grab the tabloid thing to give us the checks, he came over and asked if it was going to be all one check. i said separate checks. he then already handed me to pay, which i already wanted to leave so i went ahead and took out my card to pay. he leaned over while i went to sign and put the tip, which as a server you never do, because it's like pressuring the customer to leave a good tip. he went "mmmm" when he saw i didn't leave a tip (i never do this btw, i don't even leave bad tips, always at least 20%) then my friend paid (keep in mind we're both still eating and only like 10 minutes have passed by since the food came out) and he didn't leave a tip either. the man had purposely walked over to be behind him to see what tip he left. then after that he goes "mmmm. is there any reason you guys didn't leave a tip?" and honestly...that left me speechless. that's another thing you don't do as a server, i know how shitty it is to not leave a tip but tip is optional at the end of the day, and he couldn't even do the bare minimum of service for us. i had previously asked him for the receipts when paying, so then after that he stomped over to grab the receipts and threw them at our table. extremely childish and honestly made me laugh i was so shocked. my friend was still eating but i told him to pack it to go because i didn't have the nerve to stay there any longer. never coming here again, which is a shame because the food was outstanding, but the service made everything not worth it. read more

I came here around noon for lunch and ordered the kimchi pork fried rice which had a good amount of kimchi in it. It was spicier than I expected and was a little difficult to eat large amounts of at a time. I'm also pretty good at handling spice so this took me by surprise. But definitely a good tasting dish with great kimchi flavor. Also came with a side and I chose the pickles. They were pretty good as well. Food came out quick and service was great as well! Got the chicken rice bowl and it was scrumptious! It also came with a free side, which includes miso soup, asian slaw and a side salad. I got the miso soup! It came with crunchy tofu pieces, that complimented the umami bliss of the soup! Diversity of flavors and ingredients, with great homey service. The people that run the place are so courteous and are scary quick with service! PROTIP: get the spicy mayo! It compliments asian flavors so well! Found this restaurant on Yelp. Decided to go here on a Saturday evening after calling and found out that there was no wait for four. Yay! We were hungry. We ordered the Kalbi appetizer, Bulgogi Bowl no onions or scallions (they allowed customization which is awesome ), and Fried Chicken Bowl. The food tasted authentic with a fusion twist. The Kimchee was fresh and crunchy. The fries is a must try. It was crunchy and well seasoned. The fried chicken was crispy and tasty. Sorry no pictures this time since we were so hungry but the photos from the other yelpers are pretty accurate. I also met the owner/chef. She greeted me and thanked us for eating there. I told her that her food was delicious as it was. The decor was nice and elegant. The restaurant was clean. Easy metered street parking available. read more
