Stopped by there for dinner yesterday. Had the bulgogi and bibimbap. Husband loved his bibimbap. It's what I should've ordered too. It's always really good. I've had the bulgogi there before but this time around it was tasteless. The meat was tender, not too gristly but had been boiled and didn't taste marinated. The rice and cabbage salad that came with it were very good but the bulgogi was oh so bland. Not ordering that again. Portions were large and hardly any wait for our order, prob 8 mins. Location is in the back corner of the Super G Mart food court. It's counter order and pickup. There are tables and chairs nearby. Noise level can be pretty loud. You hear everything going on at the supermarket and the food court can get very busy during meal times. Still, it's good solid Korean food and I'll always stop by and pickup a meal here when in the area. read more

I come here almost every other month because I love my "Budae-jjigae" which translates to Army Stew. Main ingredients are Kimchi, hot dogs, spam, and ramen noodles. Variations: Often includes tofu, rice cakes, on a spicy broth. I tell ya, it is the most bestest authentic Korean noodles you can slup on in this beautiful place called Super G Mart here in 7323 E Independence Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28227. After reading some of the Yelp reviews, I decided to have lunch here. Ordered the Jajaing Mein noodles. They give you a number and call this out, when they are ready to give you the ttray of food. 12 minutes max until the number was called. The black bean sauce was watery, lacked flavor, and the amount of pork meat was minimal. The kimchee was also average in taste and consistency. Overall this was pretty disappointing. Stopped here recently for the first time, expecting a good, authentic bowl of beef bibim. Turns out they're only doing takeaways so it came in a flat foam box, but it came out quickly (no reason for bibim to take ages, though). Ultimately, I feel that Korean food in general doesn't translate terribly well as takeaway meals. But this was a respectable bibim although I almost choked on the chili sauce despite sprinkling barely any of it. Toppings were well seasoned and thank God for no fillers like lettuce or broccoli! I'm not sure if this meal was a great value and it left me wanting more, but I'm sure it would be better if it was possible to dine in instead. I hope they keep doing well. read more

If you've been shopping at Super G then you probably have seen Korean Restaurant at the back of the store. Today I decided to try out the food since I was there and I'm a big fan of Korean dishes. Firstly, the menu selection is decent and they have all the main Korean favorites that you'd find at a standalone restaurant. Something to consider is that they're dine in seating is closed so you have to take your order to go which was disappointing. I ordered the Bulgogi which is one of my favorites with a side of white rice and kimchi. The Bulgogi was decent, it had good flavor but the portion size was small considering the price of the food. I was expecting the food to be better and considering that it's in an Asian supermarket you'd think so but again it was decent. If you're new to Korean food and wanting a great experience then there are better options. If you happen to be in the area and really want Korean flavor then Korean Restaurant isn't a bad option. read more

I've been wanting to try Korean food again and decided to try the Bibimbap with the egg on top. Not so much into a runny egg but wanted to give it a go. The runny egg still isn't my favorite but I ate everything anyway. The bulgogi was delicious and the chili sauce wasn't hot which was nice). I love wontons and dumpling so I was interested jn a soup. They suggested Tteokguk (Dduk guk) soup which is a New Years tradition that brings longevity and prosperity. The soup was good with some extra salt added. I loved the rice cakes. Chewy fun texture. Located inside Super G Supermarket on Independence Blvd. They serve some comforting Korean foods, not too many menu items though. The taste is really mediocre and lacks flavor. The kalbi is $22, comes with a small side shredded cabbage with thousand islands dressing and a bowl of rice. It's way over priced. It only has 3 strips of thin cut short ribs. During our first trip to Super G, we wanted to get lunch at the food court. Since we love Korean food, we figured we should stop here. Covid-19: it's inside the grocery store and there's no way to order online from what I can tell. It's takeout only right now. We got the Bulgogi Hotpot. Their menu shows pictures of each dish and my biggest issue is it looks nothing like what we got. I've had a lot of hotpots and what we got did not seem like a hotpot. We got a soup with beef in it. I really don't like that they put up misleading pictures on their menu. The soup was ok. The broth wasn't super flavorful. I'd be curious what other menu items are like, but I'm pretty hesitant to go back since the pictures are so far from what you actually get. read more

I was worried moving from Northern Virginia that I'd struggle to find authentic korean dolsot bibimbap - was happy to find it today! It was a bit pricey at first but then realized how large the portioning was and didn't feel as bad about it. I liked how they added kimchi on the side as well - not as nice as larger korean restaurants back home where they give you a plethora of banchan however given that it was a food court-style shop it was appropriate. Would love to come here again - this order was No. 11. I didn't get a drink because it was all canned so just got tea from the next store shop and it worked out! The first time I went to the food court the Korean Restaurant was closed, I think it was a Monday but I'm not definite so check before you go there. You wouldn't want to miss it. The hot meals are really good and amply portioned. The food is delicious. The "to go" sides were tempting. The only fault, and it's more my fault than theirs, is my unfamiliarity with the dishes left me somewhat baffled as to what to try and what dishes are good to reheat at home. Is it fair to just do a review on the items I have purchased from their kimchi selection? This is what this solely on. Hands down their kimchi and other items are the best you can find in town. The kimchi is the perfect balance of flavors. While it's not super hot, it's crunchy and seasoned very well. I also enjoy their eve table kimchi's made with cucumbers, radishes, scallions and so much more. This is my preferred place to buy kimchi and often times the only my place I will but my kimchi. Let me start by saying that I lived in Seoul for 6 years so I know what Korean food is supposed to taste like. Perhaps this also makes me a harsh critic. Either way, after hearing so many good things about this place I was hopeful that Charlotte finally had itself a legit Korean spot ( I found Pepero just alright, though the family that runs it is WONDERFUL!). Well what a total let down. What I tried: Jaeyukbokum (spicy pork), naengmyeon ( cold buckwheat noodle soup ) and yukgyejang ("spicy" beef and veg noodle soup with egg) The verdict: Everything, with the exception of the yukgyejang, had the right flavors just not enough of them. The broth of the naengmyeon seemed watered down, and the jaeyuk wasn't spicy nor very flavorful (and this is usually my favorite korean dish). The yukgyejang didn't taste much at all like what its name would suggest. It was very brothy and not very spicy and was 90% green onions. Very strange. And everyone around me seemed to have ordered the bulgogi and it looked terribly dry and not very appetizing. What I dig: The reasonable prices (Hence the 2 stars instead of 1) The downers: Bland Korean food, only 2 side dishes and the bibimbap doesn't come with a soup ( unheard of in Korea). Also, as many other reviewers have touched on, the girl that worked at the counter seemed to hate that she was working let alone that she had to talk to anyone. Finally, Fleece and I have very similar views on this establishment however where we disagree is that I think this is a decent place to take those that have never had Korean food before. Visited today with my daughter and her colleagues, one of whom is from Korea (which was quite handy explaining traditions and recipes). I ordered the Golbi which was tasty and filling (loved the kimchee). A variety of entrées were ordered by our group so I was able to sample different offerings, which were well-prepared. I thought the eating area, however, was not clean for dining as tables were not scrubbed between diners--just don't look too close at the mars on the wall, and the floor that needs a mopping, as well. I also felt they're service was slow, but I'm nitpicking. Overall, a good experience. I have never tried Korean food before I ate here. And I love trying new cultures food! It's so fun to me to try new foods every time I get the chance. This place may be a little pricey , but I thought it was definitely worth it! I spent $15 on this food in the picture! The pork wasn't too spicy to my tastebuds but I can handle spice! If you can't I recommend getting the beef equivalent which is soy sauce based and marinated. I've never had authentic kimchi and I thought it was really good! And all it is is fermented cabbage and spices. The salad was really amazing too especially if you take a bit of the salad with a piece of the meat . I visit Super G often but this restaurant is usually closed when I do. I was finally able to make it shortly before they closed at 7:30 PM. I ordered Jampong (Korean noodles with seafood) The order was ready in less than 10 minutes while I perused the supermarket. Upon arriving home almost an hour later, I split the soup as it was too much for me to eat at once. It was still warm. The noodles were separate from the seafood and soup, and condiments (kimchi and another I don't know the name of) were on packaged on the side. Let me say, the soup was delicious with a bit of a bite. The amount of seafood was ample. I found myself eating something that looked like a creepy crawler. It was tasty. But, when I came across the second one, I opted out. Overall, I was very happy with the amount of seafood included. The soup was absolutely delicious and exactly what I was hoping to receive upon visiting the restaurant. When I ate the remainder the next day, it was still delicious. The only part I didn't enjoy was the large prawn with whiskers and eyes intact​. It was probably delicious but I opted to leave it alone (see photo). There are many options on the menu to select from including soup bowls with a fried egg on top (these are best eaten immediately after preparation). The restaurant area in back of Super G had a good mix of patrons all enjoying their hot food. Count me in for another visit the next time I am in Southeast Charlotte. read more

We only found it after stopping by the steamed bun place next door (Honey Buns?). Bulgogi is one of my all time favorite foods. So glad this is 5 minutes from my job. Friendly staff and flavorful Korean food in big servings. I love the jjolmyeon (chewy noodles with vegetables and a boiled egg on top) they not too spicy and are very refreshing. Their ricecakes/tteokbokki (picture attached) are my fave, even if it stings my lips for an hour. Their black bean noodles/jajangmyeon comes in a huge serving and are very flavorful. I asked for a bag for my Togo counter food, and she was like I only have 2 hand u know. I was like I know, and I asked u for a bag when u done taking my money not at this second.
