A&R Concrete & Hardscape was one of the few companies that actually wanted to bid on the retaining…read morewall that I needed in my backyard. Rick came out and gave me an estimate and knew exactly what I was looking to have done. I was happy with the price that was quoted and decided to hire them to do the work. Richard was very responsive with all the questions that I had. They even laid out the complete payment schedule which started with a small deposit to hold our spot in line. We were put on a wait list for several weeks, but that was fine with me. As we neared our start date, Richard was in contact with me to make sure we knew exactly when I needed to be ready for his crew. On the first day, they showed up early and put in a full day. That same standard and work ethic continued until the retaining wall was completed, which took about 5 days. One other important thing I want to mention. Rick knew that I was planning to build a 70 ft long wood fence on top of the wall myself. I had mentioned that I wasn't sure how I was going to pick up all the wood for the job. Without hesitation, Rick offered to drive me to Home Depot in his large truck to pick it all up as just a favor to me when I was ready. He kept his word and his guys even unloaded all of it for me. It's not every day that you meet a guy like Rick who is willing to help out someone during his super busy schedule. I even tried to give him gas money, but he said, "it wouldn't be a favor if I accepted your money". With all that said, the work that A&R did was top notch. Would I hire them again? ABSOLUTELY. I highly recommend this family-owned business to do your job. Richard and Rick are amazing guys who run a very respectable business.

Loma Linda CA A&R…read moreConcrete and Hardscapes did a great job on our project, which included about 86 feet of retaining block wall, driveway widening and extension, sidewalk, and concrete work. Rick and Richard Harvey were great to work with throughout the project. They communicated well, were responsive to questions and changes, and made helpful suggestions along the way. The crew worked extremely hard, even in very hot weather, and stayed on the job until everything was completed. They worked quickly and stayed within the requirements and specifications we had for the project. The driveway expansion made the property much more functional and practical for staging, storage, and future projects. They also paid close attention to drainage and the overall details. The finished work came out very well, and we would definitely recommend A&R Concrete and Hardscapes.

Very easy to work with but I made it clear prior to starting the job that the new pilar needed to match due to HOA. We knew it wouldn't match 100% but this is clearly a different color. I messaged to see if there was anything to be done, he pushed back that it met HOA requirements and then tried to charge for another $300to have it stained.

The morning of the start of the project, Alex came to go over the project with my husband to make sure they were both understanding of the work that was to be done. My husband was concerned about a drain pipe next to where the cement would be poured, and was worried about it being damaged during the dirt removal. After the dirt was removed, Alex ran water down the drain to show us that the pipe was undamaged. He listened to my husband and made sure to pour the cement a couple inches from the drain pipe, so there was no chance of any damage. Alex was also very flexible with scheduling. He was able to reschedule the cement pour day on short notice, so that my husband would be home on that day. Alex and his crew arrived on time, which I appreciate. I've had a lot of work done in the past, and it always upsets me when contractors are late. At the end of each workday, the crew cleaned meticulously to ensure the work area was clear of dirt and debris. Alex and his crew were always respectful of our property.
