I was born and raised in Kansas City. I have 50+ years eating the best bbq in the world. Buford's BBQ is without a doubt the best in the Bay Area of those I've tried, which are many. No one in CA, in my opinion, has mastered both meat smoking AND sauce except Buford. In fact no one has mastered sauce at all, except Buford. As he had sold out of brisket by the time we arrived, which was almost at closing, he graciously subbed delicious catfish in our 3 meat meal. I thought the portion offering by price was exceptional compared to other restaurants in our area. We split our 3 meat combo, and we're known to put away a lot of bbq. Buford's is an easy 20 min drive from central Concord. We made a few stops on the way home and our food was still piping hot when we arrived. We'll really only go there in the future when we get the bbq craving.

This place is like eating a home cooked meal with my family in Louisiana. Best BBQ I've found in this area. I don't think I've ever found fried okra in California. Buford's okra is so good and crunchy and just the best I couldn't stop eating it!! The owner who is also your server is so nice and friendly. You can tell he really loves what he does and puts his pride into it. If you're in the area you must check out Buford's BBQ. We will be back next time!

My hubby and I decided to try this bbq restaurant for the first time, because I wanted to celebrate Black History Month with some soul food. We weren't aware that this little restaurant has been in business for over a year! We found this cozy little restaurant in downtown Antioch. It wasn't fancy but had a mom & pop vibe going on. We wanted to sample the barbecue so we ordered a combination of pork ribs, beef brisket, hot links, and chicken. For sides, we ordered green beans, baked beans, potato salad, and macaroni and cheese, Some Hawaiian rolls came with our meals. For dessert, I ordered a warm peach cobbler with a little vanilla ice cream on top. (YUMMY!!!!) My husband and I were both pleased with our meals! Everything tasted delicious! I loved the smoked flavor of the meats and the delicious bbq sauce! All of the meats were tender also. Nothing was dry like other reviews mentioned. All of the sides were delicious also! The service was excellent! The wait wasn't long! The restaurant was clean. And the 70's classic soul music was on point! It was a nice soulful bbq experience enjoyed by several diverse patrons. And I loved that the restaurant wasn't freezing cold inside! I HATE eating hot food inside of a freezing restaurant! That's not a comfortable experience. Whereas at Buford's, my hubby & I didn't rush to leave because it was a great experience. We will be back to try the fried catfish, hush puppies, and fried okra in the near future!

My first time going here I found it on yelp the establishment had 4.5 stars the customer service was great I believe it was the owner who helped me and older gentleman. I got the one meat plate with one side I got ribs Mac n cheese and it came with an Hawaiian roll the ribs were so tender and falling off the bone they were seasoned very well not too salty. The mac was mackn it was so good I love Mac n cheese this was really good and it wasn't dry I also got some peach cobbler and that was sooo good as well fresh out the oven overall everything was great. I had the option to dine in or take it to go I took it to go because I was on my lunch break. But they had bar tables and chairs and dine in tables and chairs yall should check them out

Do not sleep on Buford's BBQ!! This place is amazing ran by a sweet couple just the two of them. Our BBQ was amazing just like I would in the south. Love it so much and the peach cobbler is to die for. Reminds me of the rural Georgia recipe I lost years ago. The brisket is on point and the ribs fall off the bone in the good way. We came in Sunday afternoon and they were swamped people coming and going our order got missed in the chaos. The owner came over and apologized and gave us the cobbler for free. The store is small and quaint but also super clean small home town feel in old downtown Antioch.

My husband and I came here for lunch. I ordered the fried catfish and fried chicken wings with a side of fries and my husband ordered the beef brisket. The brisket was flavorful and tender. I also enjoyed the catfish but the fried chicken for me lacked flavor. I put some hot sauce on it but I would have liked it more if it was more seasoned. Other than that, the staff were very friendly. It was a cute mom and pop shop.

If you're looking for BBQ in the East Bay, then look no further. This is a very good option fill your stomach with some good southern cooking. They serve REAL sweet tea here. I ordered pork ribs, brisket, beef sausage, macaroni and cheese , fried okra, The baked beans are simple, flavorful and a nice size serving. The sausage link was mild with tiny bits of spice. Brisket was juicy, smoky and tender. Okra was absolutely perfect. It didnt have too much breading like other places. Pork ribs are worth it to come here by themselves. Bring some wet wipes. It's going to get messy. Unfortunately the Mac & Cheese needs some help. There was no roux, no cheese crust on top and I was disappointed. It didnt seem fresh. Service was really good. They had 2 people cleaning tables, 1 person taking orders and 1 person in the kitchen (from what I saw). They have about 6 tables for customers and 2 benches for a waiting area. I didnt see any outside seating. Overall, I'd come back here again and bring 3 friends. Parking: easy 5/5 Value: 4/5 Return value: 5/5 Customer service: 4/5

Excellent BBQ ribs. Came here today to check it out. Food was great. The place inside is quite nice too. The staff were friendly too. Definitely will be coming back. Just be aware of the hours since it's only open a few days during the week.

I can't have BBQ sauce this is why there's no sauce!

Food was soooo good! We had ribs, hot links, and fried chicken. Sides potato salad, fries and spaghetti. The potato salad was gone in 29secs! Service was awesome very friendly. Definitely coming back.

Just go, that's it. I can't wait to come back. The brisket was soooooo good. Everything was. Oh and don't forget about the baked beans either. Would love to see some corn bread on the menu. We ordered the 3 meat combo plate with ribs, brisket, hot links, Mac and green beans with a side of oh so good baked beans. I served 2 very full plates at home for 2 adults and we were stuffed, even had a bit of leftovers. They did mention they will be trying to open until 6 pm which would be great. They close at 5pm right now. The inside is very nice with ample seating.

This place is top notch! Husband and I picked up food for the whole family and we were surprised to see that this restaurant is right next to Rick's on Second which is a super popular sandwich shop, so if you order Buford's BBQ via DoorDash or some other delivery service, then I think there's synergy there that will get the food to you pretty quickly! That's a huge win since location is everything when it comes to ordering delivery. But you can't go wrong with deciding to get the takeout yourself since there's the beautiful delta waterway just one street up. Eating in the restaurant is a great option too since the decor is super cute, clean, open, modern and it's a really relaxing, comfortable vibe. We love the vines and the various little touches. Even the hallway and the bathroom are nicely done! We ordered a ton of stuff - brisket, brisket burger, ribs, mac and cheese, green beans, pasta salad, pecan pie, banana pudding, and apple pie. Everyone loves the food and we all had a different favorite. My stepdad was a bigger fan of the brisket, my brother loved the ribs, and I was blown away by the mac and cheese. I'm used to mac and cheese having kind of a Velveeta cheese sauce, but this has real pieces of cheddar and it's probably the best mac and cheese I've ever had! Every bite had cheese, macaroni, crunch, so the flavor and textural variety were both completely spot on. I also planned to share the mini pecan pie but it was so good that I ended up eating it all by myself lol oh well too bad for my family, guess they'll have to go back and get their own! The service was also great, super quick and friendly. Definitely the family ambiance you're looking for when you go out for BBQ, and you definitely can't get that wholesome welcoming attitude when you go to some chain - e.g. Dicky's (since you'll pretty much only encounter teenagers who hate their jobs at a chain). We loved it and will definitely be back - huge kudos and thanks for the delicious meal and for making our Saturday afternoon a good one!

Well let me give you the honest opinion of each item on my plate. Cornbread was moist and warm. It was not dry nor was it overly sweet it had a nice combination of complexity in taste, texture and presentation. If I had to give it a rating, it would be 5 out of 5. Baked Beans for once was sweet and smoky. Most restaurants serve them as a clumpy mess, but these were sweet and smoky with a smooth sauce that it was mixed in. Molasses or brown sugar either one it was really good another 5 out of 5. (I could just eat the cornbread and baked beans by themselves). Macaroni and Cheese for once it was good not great but good. It wasn't overly cheesy nor was it salty and buttery. It was a nice compliment to the meal. Now the rib tips were sauced and smoked. The sauce did not overtake the smoky meat. It is a compliment to the meat. It was soft, tear off the bone type of ribs and I had a side of hot bbq sauce and it was tangy, smoky and hot. Now I did not get the greens, potato salad or any deserts or drinks so those will be a later visit. Overall well done and the customer service was exceptional. Respectful and decent and helpful. Keep up the exceptional valor that you have earned. You don't last 25 years by luck but by giving the customer what they want. Great food and exceptional service.

Reasonably price. Honestly, the pork belly is the star and could be the best I've had in a long time considering I still live and grew up in Oakland. At other chinese bbq spots the skin to me is usually very crunchy and chewy. But Roast Eatery pork belly skin is so light and crispy, that after a few bites the tender meat and fat slowly melts in your mouth making it very enjoyable. The sweet sauce with the pork belly is new to me. it's interesting but i prefer eating it with the ginger scallion because it helps cut the richness from the pork belly. The Haianese Chicken is exceptional. Cooked perfectly to tendernism. Anyone new to chinese bbq and wondering why the chopped chicken bone is still red or pink, that's called myoglobin so don't worry it's already cooked and means that it's perfectly gently poached. Of course, always take caution, ask questions and do a little research. If you're afraid, just eat around it, but this will probably be the best and healthiest way to eat chicken if you're on a diet. Roast Duck was flavorful, tender and nicely roasted. Definitely your go to local spot if you're in the East County (Oakley, Brentwood, or Antioch). It's also on par with local favorite spots in Oakland Chinatown like Gold Medal. Service is very straight forward and quick to order. The staff are friendly. Got our order in less than 10 minutes. Overall, I will be coming here more frequently for my chinese bbq fix and quick healthy lunch. They also own the dim sum bakery next door and it's definitely a hit too!

It's the priced the same as the $14 "half" chicken, so by far the half chicken is the better value. The chicken itself was moist. It's the traditional Chinese yellow chicken, so there was not a lot of meat on it. Love ginger scallion sauce and I asked for extra, which I got. The shredded, boiled cabbage on the side was a nice thought to round out the meal. Too bad I don't like cooked cabbage... The rice in the rice plate was plain white rice and didn't seem all that fresh as parts of it were hard and clumpy. I wish there was chicken rice that went with the Hainan chicken, but I guess the rice plate here is just that...basic white rice that goes with any protein.

And the man said, "Yes". I walked straight out and went to a different ramen place for lunch. So, I can't speak to the food quality. But the ambiance was dismal. And, though it's not their fault, the whole scenario of that side shopping center made me think that they won't be around long. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't see myself going back...

Got the garlic, tonkatsu Ramen, which I thought was pretty standard, but I didn't like the garlic…read morebecause it tasted like the kind from the jar. I think if they had used fresh (raw) garlic, the whole dish could've been much more elevated. But, with that said, I thought that the flavor was just okay. The broth could've been creamier, in my opinion. But the portion was pretty good and generous. I also chose pork belly as my choice of protein, and I thought the pork belly slices (chashu) was pretty good. Price was pretty standard for nowadays. The ambience of the restaurant was not the best. Don't get me wrong, the restaurant was nice and clean, but there was a lot of restaurant-unrelated items that they attempted to hide but they ended up being not quite well hidden, so they were kind of distracting. But the service was nice.
