    All-American Cheeseburger with fries

Glad to have another food option around the area, it's a "go" spot but it's nice that they have some seating inside. Overall the menu isn't too extensive, I would say it's mostly in their sauces. Gave their burger and fries bundle a try recently. All in all, the food was decent but didn't have much of a wow-factor to make me want to come back for it, maybe their chicken. Considering it's price (on higher side), I wasn't too impressed and likely won't find myself visiting often. Service seemed to be mediocre. Upon entering the store, there were no employees at the front and a few were congregated towards the kitchen area chatting and I sorta had to wave for their attention for a bit. However, the food came out fairly quickly, though I had to remind them to give me my fountain drink. Considering the small space, it was a bit messy with garbage near the entrance. One of their two TV monitors didn't seem to be working and they didn't have any other way to show the full menu, I was only able to see the full menu online using pictures from other people's reviews. Experience overall leans more towards a 3.5/5 for me, bumping it up for a little support but definitely feels like there's some room for improvement.

Tasty sauces but completely unseasoned chicken! Maybe it was growing pains. Hoping for improvement.

The "literal" embodiment of IYKYK, this classic old school neighborhood institution, the type of…read morewhich are becoming increasingly rare to the point of near extinction, is certainly on my shortlist of the best bars in the city, let alone the borough. The gorgeous, ancient building, Fillmores for close to 50 years now but home to a bar for many years prior to that, is perennially packed with a cross section of local regulars representing many eras of the neighborhoods varied history and populations, from old school working class joes in Union Jackets and hardhats to more recent immigrants from every corner of the world befitting it's location smack in the center of the worlds borough. They're all most definitely having a great time, soaking up the fantastic atmosphere and character and being served by seasoned pros with a level of old school care and camaraderie, and focus on loyalty to the regulars that is also sadly rapidly fading away (how many other places in this town still know the meaning of the words "buy back?") Where the place really sets itself apart from all the other local watering holes however charming they might be on their own right however, is the food. Its lives up to the original designation of a tavern as a place that places a priority on the cuisine, and indeed the offerings rise far far above the bar-food norm. This is the type of spot that not only serves one of the great, deeply satisfying under-the radar burgers, non nonsense but deeply meaty uniquely presented on a long hero-type roll, but also one of the best, and cheapest NY Strips in town and a killer prime rib special. Also has some of the most reliably crispy wings, even if the propriety house sauce is just a tad sweet for my tastes, and a rotating list of delicious house made soups (particularly a marvelous lobster bisque) that can be paired with said wings or most other options as part of the wonderful lunch specials. I've heard many other patrons praise the grilled chicken wrap but have never had the chance to give it a try as of yet. I'll have many more chances because I plan on continuing to visit the place often for years to come, and here's to hoping that this place remains a constant in the ever changing borough as it's miraculously been able to all these many many years.

This is the kind of place that works well as a neighborhood hangout, but I wouldn't consider it a…read moredestination restaurant. I'd seen it on Yelp for quite a while, and the food in the photos looked really promising. Unfortunately, when we pulled up and saw the location, I had a feeling it wasn't going to live up to my expectations. I was hungry enough that I decided to give it a chance anyway. If you're coming strictly for the food, I'd probably skip it. But if you're looking for a casual spot to relax with a beer and grab a bite, it does the job. Although the meal wasn't what I had hoped for, I do think the kitchen made the best of the ingredients they had. My husband ordered the steak sandwich, and I was pleasantly surprised by how tender the meat was, even though it clearly wasn't an expensive cut. I ordered the French onion soup, which lacked depth of flavor, had very few onions, and the bread was really soggy. My Caesar salad, on the other hand, was dressed and tossed perfectly, but the dressing tasted like it came straight from a bottle. If they made their own dressing, or even used a higher-quality one, it could have been an excellent salad. Our server was friendly and attentive, though she didn't seem very familiar with food terminology. I asked whether the onion rings were made fresh or frozen, and she replied, "They always taste fresh when I've had them." That pretty much answered my question, I'm guessing they were frozen. Overall, it wasn't a satisfying meal for me. Then again, I came for the food. If your goal is simply to unwind with a drink and some casual bar food, you'll probably have a much better experience than I did.

I went for lunch and had the 1/2 sandwich special, which came with your choice of fries, cup of…read moresoup, or salad (caesar or garden).. I chose the corned beef reuben on rye with a garden salad. The 1/2 sandwich was served open-face and included swiss, sauerkraut, and Russian dressing. The garden salad was a very generous serving with an italian dressing on the side. All were wonderful. I ordered a pint of a NY State "hazy IPA," which went perfectly with the food and tasted terrific. We sat in the "grassy" (it's turf) area which is shaded by trees. I felt like I was in Europe, except when the LIRR trains came roaring by. It's adjacent to the tracks, but there are trees that separate you. Highly recommend for the beer and food!

They put "Sports Bar" in the online listing so all the hotshot, sports crazed lunatics know exactly where to go to yell at a screen. Inside, it's the same old story. You've got a long, dark wood bar behind a long dark haired bartender in tight black clothes. These walls are lined with glowing television screens showing sports games like the damn Jets that everyone is paying attention to but me. When i walked in there's a guy sitting by himself at the bar in a khaki shirt, staring down at his hands or his phone, looking completely miserable while light bulbs that were hanging from the ceiling in what looked like metal cages were tearing at my retina. (In all fairness, i do have an eye issue). That's what people do it seems to me, they pay money to go sit in a dark room with and feel lonely, together. Its free at the county lock up and if you drink and drive, step right up and blow because your taking the ride to central booking. I know nothing about this. Then I looked over at the bar top and they've got these fancy beer glasses filled up to the brim, a cool dark draft beer in a pint and a Stella Artois in a chalice, it was sitting right in front of me but it wasnt mine. I beckoned the bartender to "let me have the same". Reflections of glowing televisions illuminated by neon blue lights and rows of prettu liquor bottles above me and more beers being passed around to my right and to my left. Outside, it's completely packed under these warm hanging lights, full of people crammed together in the dark. I noticed that lot of guys wearing baseball caps and that is so prole, leave the baseball hat at home, your an adult, dress like one. They're was even a guy wearing a cowboy hat standing around drinking his beer, talking loud. I wore a cowboy hat once, i was seven years old. It just drives me crazy. The whole place is just sports screens, wooden bar stools, hanging bulbs, and a bunch of phonies trying to forget how depressed they are. It really is.
