Not a lot of people talk about this place but to be honest there was something about the quality of the chicken and the crunch that felt really geniuine. Was craving some crispy chicken wings and ordered from UFC after seeing so many recommendations here and over on the Astoria Reddit. UFC filled the void for me as I was craving quality wings in the early afternoon hours, but my go-to's (Dillinger's and Blackbirds) weren't opened yet. I decided to try to soy garlic wings since they were most popular, along with their hot wings which I was hoping would quell my craving for buffalo wings. The wings arrived swiftly and were still warm when I opened the box. As other people have noted, these wings are definitely better enjoyed at the restaurant since the steam they accumulate in their to-go containers does impact the overall crunch. The soy garlic were savory and delicious, and the hot wings were also pretty good, different than your standard buffalo sauce. We hit up UFC on a scorching Wednesday, and it was a bit of a disaster. No AC in sight, just two sad little fans trying their best. Spoiler alert: it was really, really hot. Our server was great, but the chicken? Not so much. We tried the BBQ Ranch Chicken, Large (20 pc) wings in half sweet and spicy and half soy garlic, and the Beef Bulgogi. The sweet and spicy wings were the best of the bunch, though a bit too saucy--like, is this chicken or a soup? The Beef Bulgogi was as average as a C-student's report card, and the soy garlic wings were a salt lick in disguise. Some pieces of were so chewy and hard, it was like gnawing on cardboard. The BBQ Ranch Chicken looked amazing but don't be fooled--it's a salt bomb. I couldn't finish mine because of how salty it was. The real kicker? I've had way better chicken up in Ithaca, and those places don't even specialize in chicken. Oh, the irony. This was our first and probably last visit to UFC. The space is a little cramped and narrow lengthwise, but we were able to fit a decent sized group inside. My friends and I shared everything. We ordered a couple different flavors of fried chicken, bulgogi and pork loaded fries, and veggie jap chae. The chicken was absolutely delicious! They were delightfully crispy, tender, and was well seasoned with bold flavor. The bulgogi loaded fries with onion, scallions, and sesame seeds were also very tasty. The meat was juicy, succulent, and marinated in this wonderful savory sauce, which covered the fries as well. The fries were nice and crunchy with great potato taste. The jap chae was pretty good. Noodles were perfectly cooked and the veggies (colorful peppers, cabbage, onion) were fresh. However, I missed the meat. Service was solid. I go to this UFC about once or twice each month. Every single time I have terrific service, and a delicious meal. I finally decided to try something other than chicken, -the waitress suggested a burger and fries and it was also excellent. We have come to just hang out and have some drinks and then came back with some friends for dinner. The food here is great, all cooked well with good flavor. The menu isn't super extensive but it works and you have some good options. Get the wings!! The section upstairs isn't huge but there a bunch of 4-tops and it's never packed out. They have a downstairs section that is much larger for bigger groups, but table service can be spotty down there. I've been hearing about UFC for a long time. Finally, I had a chance to stop by, and I'm loving it. UFC can get very crowded on Friday nights, but the other time, I got there around 5pm on weeknight, I could get a table very quickly. Anyway, this place doesn't have a happy hour. You cannot go wrong with their Chicken Wings (Soy Garlic and Sweet & Spicy sauces are the best) and Bulgogi. Spicy Pork Bulgogi ($12) was very delicious, spicy and plentiful! I was stuffed by the time I finished. As for craft beers on tap, half of the selection are IPAs. So if you're an IPA fan, you'll never get disappointed here. Luckily, UFC features one saison on tap, so that's something I'd go for every time. They also have almost 100 choices of bottled beers, plus most of them are reasonably priced. Do not make the same mistake that I made and go downstairs if you not too willing buying any type of alcohol, apparently the floor that is located downstairs is a full bar with some KFC because if you not buying alcohol they will send you to the first one. Because I was only looking for a quick and good meal I was sent to the first floor, but I could notice that they have a good selection of beers and alcohol. The place is not that big so if you come with a big party I will recommend calling in advance so you can get a table. I order the Wings & Drums Combo and French fries on the side, you have the option to choose from two flavors in my case I went with the Buffalo and the Soy Garlic. Both flavors were on point, well cook crushing so yummy and delicious you will not be disappointed choosing from his option. Their French fries were also crispy, crunchy well done. At this point in my life, I'm convinced that everyone would do better with a little KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) in their life. In the case for people who live in Jackson Heights or nearby Woodside, it would be UFC, one of the more longest standing, dedicated KFC establishments in Queens. Since the place is split into two levels, a ground floor that is visible to most and a basement level that functions as a bar. The ground floor is bright, hip, and inviting. There is adequate seating for all groups despite feeling relatively small. The basement level feels even smaller, however, it's far more intimate and has a cool, hidden vibe that seems rare in the borough. Their version of KFC is pretty good. UFC prides itself on selling organic and "humane" chickens, which is not something every KFC spot can boast about. Of their flavors (plain, bbq mustard, sweet & spicy, soy garlic, hot), I enjoy soy garlic and bbq mustard the most. There is a certain crispiness that I really enjoy with every crunchy bite, especially with the drumsticks. I haven't gone full rager with the half or whole chicken route yet, but I certainly intend to one day. On the boneless front, I could do any / all of their flavors. When I'm feeling splurgy and a little crazy, I like to order the smoked bbq ranch, buffalo, garlic parmesan, and just mix them up. It's a fun thing to do, especially when it's game day on the weekend. Outside of chicken frying, they've dived into a myriad of other foods. For lunch they have a number of Korean classics, such as japchae, bulgolgi, etc. They also have a number of sandwiches and burgers to offer (my favorite being their uber hearty "mega burger") and a number of random finger foods like Korean empanadas, nachos, and even poutine. Another thing worth noting is that the bottom floor serves a number of craft beer. In fact, they already have quite a few choices on draft but they offer an awesome variety for beer enthusiasts. Order a plate of wings, grab a pint of something wonderful, and enjoy the evening. Genius. If there was any major downside, it is *kinda* pricey for Queens. I still standby my 5 star rating, because the food is tasty, the atmosphere is cool, and they do offer a different take on things that very few other establishments have accomplished. The first thing I noticed was that there was plenty of seating but not quite at a safe socially distanced range. Food: we ordered the poutine fries and garlic parmesan boneless chicken. Bother were disappointing. The fries because the description mentions the presence of cheese curds but what we received looked a lot more like finely shredded store-brand four-cheese mixed with cambell's gravy. The boneless chicken was desert dry and had a strange aftertaste I had to try drowning out with the provided mini cups of ketchup/honey mustard - neither of which were a sound pairing. It may have been apparent that we didn't quite enjoy the meal - we arrived famished but could barely finish half the order before having them take the remainder away, because the patron brought us a complimentary ini-dish of mac salad/cole slaw. I would not recommend those either. They were but I don't like my wings drenched in sauce so I was totally ok with that. Wasn't soggy so maybe I got lucky that day. Still had good flavor but they're small like how chickens were meant to be. Shared the burger with L, luckily I made more food afterwards. The burger isn't too big but it was tasty. With the sauce it tastes exactly like a high end Big Mac. I'm pretty sure I could've eaten the whole thing myself and still be hungry... Tasty, but would have to spend $$$$ to be full.
