I've never had a bad experience at the Irish Center. Service is friendly, good pub food. And special today is traditional Irish music. The Guinness is always good. I've never had food, the center provided soup for the musicians so I can't say if it's on the menu our not. It's a lovely large hall, plenty of room and good air circulation in these covid times. I came here on February 22nd for a concert called Snow Jam. They have a great concert area in the back, that I'm sure is used for other things too. Five different bands played. My favorites were Mom Said No and Grosh. Tonight I came here for dinner with my parents. Today is the second day that they were open for sit-down service since WNY entered phase three this past Tuesday. I had a fish fry. The fish was a large piece. It was great. The sides were small portions of potato salad and coleslaw in plastic cups. (Like what a small container of blue cheese would come in.) It came with bread and butter and macaroni salad on the side. My mom has a fish fry too. My dad had a corned beef sandwich and he loved it. I'd like to return for the chicken wings. I have heard that they're really good. The service was good. They have patio seating in the front of the building and parking in the lot on the side. They're currently only taking credit cards. They are offering takeout, if you'd prefer that. You need to pick it up at the door in the back. read more

A hidden gem in Buffalo's restaurants is also a building steeped in culture. Irish music, dancing, genealogy and definitely food! We stopped by in for a fish fry and their signature Kells style chicken fingers. A generous sized beer battered fish fillet with homemade macaroni salad, cole slaw and fries. The fries could be swapped out for Irish potatoes known as colcannon. The chicken fingers were excellent and very generous portions too! The waitress, Nora was amazing and we didn't have a long wait at all! Good beer selection from Labatts to local IPAs and of course, Guinness and Harp to name a few. I highly recommend giving the Buffalo Irish Center a try. read more

Even though this place has only been a couple miles down the road from me for my entire life, I haven't had the opportunity to check it out until this past Friday when I was in the mood for a fish fry and I was suggested this place for a decent one. They offer a no frills menu with casual service. I really liked that they had drafts such as Smithwicks and Harp on tap. A nice cold beer paired well with a beer battered fish fry with fries, macaroni salad, coleslaw and rye bread. Everything was tasty except the coleslaw, which lacked flavor and was watery. The fish didn't hang off the plate, but it was a thick haddock filet which I actually preferred. The fried shrimp dinner received rave reviews as well. Service got slower the closer it got to the dinner rush time, so be patient or order your fish frys to go. I would go back for some bar food and a cold one in the future, maybe some Irish music will be on stage once COVID eases up. read more

My friends and I went to the Buffalo Irish Center for a "wine and paint night," except we drank beer this time. You can't go to an Irish Center and not order a Guinness- duh. We hung out at the bar while we waited for the class to start. It was a very low-key and casual atmosphere, which added to its charm. The back room was well-lit and spacious. The walls are covered in Irish decorations. The antique bar is beautiful. There is also a large stage for live bands to play. I understand that it can be rented out for private parties- I think it would be a great location for a fundraiser! During our painting class, we ordered a Reuben sandwich and the deep fried reuben bites, dipped in Thousand Island dressing. They were phenomenal-exactly what we were looking for! I would happily go back any time for dinner and a beer! read more

The center promotes their heritage with music, dancing, history, parades, charities, and fun. The Buffalo Irish Center isn't flashy or slick. Don't expect to find an outwardly impressive cultural beacon. What you will find, however, is a place that has become an integral part of the Buffalo Irish community. It provides the community with a gathering place and a social structure that is often hard to achieve without significant funding. The center is successful largely because of community investment and good old-fashioned hard work. Dance classes, irish language classes, music classes, private parties, live bands, fundraisers - the center is always active and relatively self-sustaining. The pub is a very down-to-earth place to grab a Guinness and catch up with familiar faces. Had a Wedding Reception here 10/6/18 , Used Tom Gang Catering. We were Pleasantly Surprised how great the food was, his chicken sauce was very delicious leaving me wanting more, I received many compliments on his catering. Thank you Mr Gang. I highly recommend the Irish center for a more less stuffy reception hall that knows how to work with families and young couples maintaining a budget. Hubby & I found a wonderful little gem in our own back yard. Buffalo Irish Center has been serving Fish Fries on Fridays so we stopped in to try. The Chefs Georgi & John have WOW'd us. We have had the biggest nachos,(enough to feed 4 adults for $8.00) broiled, baked and beer battered fish fry, wonderful shrimp scampi that would put other restaurants to shame. Hubby had a mussles,clam and shrimp dish over bow tie noodles for only $12.00. They also serve roast beef and corned beef sandwiches. Open for dinner Thursday, Friday & Saturday. Decided to try the Buffalo Irish Center for our first fish fry for Lent. We were able to sit right down as it was 7:10 pm. My wife and I both had the beer batter fish fry. Nice selection of beer on tap. The staff were very friendly as well as the patrons. Everyone spoke to each other. It was obvious that we were going to have to wait as when tables were served everyone in the place clapped. About an hour and a half we were served. And again everyone clapped. I have to say the fish was very good. Lightly battered and not dry. Portions of salads and french fries were not overwhelming and the price was right. We both enjoyed our dinner even though we waited a long time for it. At least there was live music to make the time go by. Nice friendly place, food is good, but don't be in a hurry. read more

Going to see live music at the Irish Center is a great time. The stage is set up well with plenty of seating to relax and watch the live music. The other thing I was shocked about was how reasonable the beers are. The beers (full pints) are easily half the cost of many other bars in the area. They always have multiple quality Irish beers on tap (including Guinness). The bartenders are always very friendly as are all of the regulars that hang at the bar. A true South Buffalo Irish feel. Don't bother wasting your time. The place is cold and very loud, sounds like there is a gym above you with constant banging of some sort. we first sat at the bar, while waiting for the rest of our party to arrive, the male bartender was very nice. Once we sat down to eat, the waitress reluctantly came to take our order. I found her to be rude and bothered. we went on a Friday and it was still early, and not very busy, leaving her no excuse to behave that way....we were only one of three tables seated. We all ordered fish fry, the fish came cold and not thoroughly cooked in the middle. We were all afraid to say something because of how rude the waitress was. Save your eleven dollars, take your business elsewhere.... better food and service at mighty taco. read more

Heard about the Irish Center with the amazing fish fry and thought we'd check it out. Not disappointed! My friends are hard to please food critiques and we all agreed it was one of the best fish fries we ever had. Huge fish with great batter cooked to perfection and a ton of delicious sides for about $10-$12. Plus great beer selection, very talented acoustic music, and a polite fun crowd. I went to the Buffalo Irish Center last night for Thursday Under the Tent. First let me say whoever organized this type of venue did an awesome job, the band was great! Was nice too attend something like this in South Buffalo. On the other hand, I went to the bar for my drinks. Both bartenders were not friendly in the least! I was passed by several times with money in my hand to get drinks. It wasn't a packed bar either. I returned to the bar my second time, same thing, and after waiting again I was charged a different amount for the same drink. Seems that the bartenders were not charging the same. Later on friends and I decided to order food. I ordered a burger. Took a long time for the food to come out. My first bite into the burger it fell apart, actually it crumbled. What a shame with a great event like this to be NOT a good experience inside. As a former bartender all of it was horrible! If you can't smile, be friendly and be on the same page with drink prices, you shouldn't be behind the bar. My rating is based solely on the inside of the BIC :) read more
