They are SO happy with themselves that they IGNORE the customer.....waitress was ill/not friendly. I called the establishment twice after we left since I eat out for a living so I'm pretty lax. I was quite disappointed. I was really looking forward to this, but perhaps it was because I was looking forward to the menu items at the 6th street location. There wasn't anything memorable at this location. We order the chicken, spinach, and tuna empanadas. The tuna was probably the best one. I really wanted a good spinach and cheese empanada. No luck in Austin so far. We also ordered the shrimp prosciutto. The shrimp was dry and overdone. For entrees, we decided to share the parrillada for two ($62), combination of grilled meats. We got chicken instead of the quail as written on the menu. I think we could've shared the single order, for two was a huge platter good for 3-4 people. The seasoning on the meats was lacking. After a good supper, I was presented with the credit card machine to leave a tip. The only choices were 20%, 25% and 30%. I have never seen one slanted to this high of a scale. I didn't even know they went to 30%... Of course you can leave a custom tip of your choosing, but this is a very manipulative practice and it left a bad taste in my mouth. I know many people who would be intimidated and go ahead and leave a higher tip than they would otherwise. Shame on you, BA cafe. An ordinary tip is 15% and 20% is reserved for exceptional service, which we did not receive. read more

There were 2 other tables with patrons, it was not a question of her being busy. "You can sit anywhere" and with that just walks away. Turns out, she was going to be our waitress as well. Fine, we get down to business and ask her some questions about the menu and order. No personality to this person at all, as if we were intruding on her day by being there. Curt answers, condescending tone, and then abruptly left without saying anything else. After about 9-10 mins, we realized we were thirsty and realized she hadn't asked for drinks or even served us water. We had to flag her down just to get water and once again with the attitude. So I never ever write reviews ever, but dining here has compelled me to get online and shout to the farthest reaches of the internet. First of all, our server (Carly) was horrendous. Seemed bothered when we were asking about ingredients regarding allergies (did not take this seriously at all and seemed openly annoyed). Was annoyed when we had questions about the menu, or when asking for silverware/napkins/plates when our food had been on the table for some time. You know, basic necessities when dining. Second, the food was just bad. Seemed like everything was out of a can or microwaved. I couldn't believe what we paid for this awful awful awful awful meal. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. Gnocchi was insanely overcooked. Milenese was as flat as a sheet of paper. Marinara sauce was probably squirted out of a tube. Mussels were poorly made and badly seasoned (way too much lemon which made it tart and acidic). It was just all bad . If you care about real yelp reviews, don't skip this one. The place has got a very upscale ambience . The night we went it had live music playing. I ordered a carpihana cocktail which did not suit my sweet taste . The spicy beef empanadas was awesome and a must try. We initially ordered just one and then went for another one. For our entree's, we ordered the pork tenderloin. The service with a sneer attitude clearly trickles down from feckless manager down to the clueless hostess. This is readily apparent when you enter this nearly empty establishment on Friday evening and you still have to wait an extraordinary amount of time for a table. Once seated, the service is slower than can be imagined and the mixed cocktails are average at best. When the poor service is mentioned to the manager, her response is a shrug of the shoulders and a "what can I do" attitude. Compare this to east side location which is almost always busy and the service is spot on. Skip this location and go to the east side one. It's better run and it's fare is superior. read more

We ordered 2 glasses of wine, but the wine was not chilled, it was warm! Who serves warm wine? We ordered a sandwich, which was not too bad, which is why they get 2 stars. Overall the place is either overhyped or they had a bad day, but let's admit, bad empanadas for an Argentinian restaurant is hard to overcome. The service could be better. I don't know why this restaurant does not have at least a solid 4 stars. Maybe people don't understand or appreciate Argentinean cuisine. We are regulars. We love sitting outside and having a glass of good red wine with empanadas and their 'provoleta' melted provolone cheese with tomatoes on bread. Last night we stopped for dinner with good friends and asked for the parrillada to share, prawns in prosciutto and a few empanadas. We all loved our dinner. It was flavorful, cooked to perception and simply delicious. The pork was especially good. The wine and the proseco were perfect, too. The panqueues (crepes with milk caramel) were tremendous. We have never been disappointed by the 'four milks cake'. Steaks are always a safe bet, especially with a good dose of Chimichurri. Our waiter was super friendly and helpful. Attentive but not overwhelmingly in your face. Total for four, super well fed, including appetizer, meal, drinks and desert, was under $50. Great value considering the quality of the meal. read more

What I got was a pice of chicken in a bunch of broth. Roasted potatoes swimming in the broth and green beans that tasted as if not cooked at all. Chicken tasted boiled. Terrible. No salt, no pepper. I was told it was roasted and then reheated. So basically left overs! I then asked for just a grilled breast. They gave me a piece I could hardly chew. Absolutely furious with this restaurant.... My 13 year old daughter and her two friends went for lunch today. Their bill was $33 including tax. and they gathered their money and left a 6.50 cent tip, pretty darn close to 20%. Albeit 6 dollars of the tip was in change... For the server to say he didn't want their change and for the female owner to stare down my daughter until my daughter was scared and broke eye contact.... Absolutely unacceptable. Can't believe an adult would try to intimidate kids... after they were just trying to do the right thing and tip. Overpriced, terrible service (which they blamed on only having 4 servers for July 4th weekend - sounds like a management issue, and they didn't offer any compensation for the long wait when we were hungry). The server Carly seemed high or just totally disinterested in helping us choose meals and deliver items to our table. I get it - servers have rough days, but I felt like we were annoying her just by being there, which is aggravating when you spend $50 at an establishment for average food. I don't often complain about wait staff or restaurants often; I've worked in the food service industry before...but avoid this place. You have a dozen great options all around the Galleria. Awful experience! They'll be out of business in no time. If the owner wants to make this right, they can reach out personally, but judging by the other reviews I am reading now, I highly doubt that will happen. read more

I had a good lunch here, so thought I'd take my wife there for dinner. Unfortunately, our experience was less than satisfactory. To begin with, the tables are covered with scratched plexiglass, behind which are photos. The result looks dirty and tired, combined with a clutter of photos, which are only oriented for one of the patrons at the table. For me, the photos were upside-down. While we waited for our salads, a worker was polishing silver 10 feet away from us. He shouldn't be standing close to the tables cleaning silver--he should've been doing that in the back. On a positive note, the salads were delicious; our meals were good but not great. My pork chop was tough but tasted good. However, the service was mediocre at best; even though our server was very friendly, she almost never checked on us. She brought our meals--which took longer than we would have hoped to arrive--and then never checked on us until I asked another waiter to have her come to the table. Meanwhile, the kitchen worker polished silver 10 feet away, clinking forks and knives. When it came time to run the check though, she managed to do that quickly. I suppose she was hoping for a good tip. At the price we paid ($95 for 2 meals with salads, no alcohol), we hoped for better service and better ambiance. Even though a person who looked like a manager came through our room, she never looked at us or spoke with us. When we left the restaurant, nobody bothered to thank us. This may be a weird to start a review but get the french fries! I swear they are amazing!! IDK what they do to them, theyre just plain old fries but hot damn, they are so friggin good! It doesnt matter what I order to eat here, I have to get an order of the fries. They come out so hot and salty and just perfect! We had a dinner my daughter got the fish sample and before I could ask her if she liked it her plate was empty, so yeah Id say she loved it. My husband had some sort of shepherds pie dish and he loved it too. I got a steak with chimmi churi sauce and asked for medium well but it was served almost raw, so I had to send it back. When it came back it was still a little under cooked but the flavor was perfect. The servers were on top of filling our water and drinks, we had a team of two and that worked well for making sure we were taken care of. read more
