I highly recommend this winery. We got the flight of three wines, which were all good and we got two empanadas. Definitely get the empanadas if you were just doing the wine tasting because they're a perfect sized snack. The parking lot and the driveway are pretty steep so you definitely need a good car to get up there. The owner was our server and he was lovely and kind. Highly recommend if you're in the area.

Unfortuantely, the images below were back when the food was amazing. The chef is a good friend of mine and when I found out he left back in Jan we were already on the way. We decided to give it a shot anyways because we had a reservation. The menu changed, the steak had no flavor, and lacked many of the qualities that it contained worth the smokiness, juiciness, and flavor that was present before. Service I will say was spectacular, they compensated for the meal by gracing our table with two bottles of wine. I will probably not come back, unless the previous menu is in place, and the chef is changed. Ambiance was great, location was stellar as always, but me and my group were disappointed at the food.

The food is legit!! Amazing! I love to cook and this food is awesome!! Healthy, flavorful, authentic! The service is personal and above and beyond what anyone would expect. And it's quiet, relaxing, shaded with the perfect music that's soft enough to carry on conversations. And they even have an area for the kids with tp's! A hidden gem!

We were in the mood to try out a new winery for dinner and were recommended to try El Gaucho. We were not disappointed. They have a lot of outdoor space and a smaller indoor seating area. I love the open fire grill setup. If it had been warmer, we would have sat outside. We shared both wine flights and we both enjoyed the sparkling the most. We ordered the shareable platter with sausage. I was not a fan of the texture of the blood sausage but my husband loved it. The other sausage, chimichurri, bread and cheese were excellent. We shared the sirloin for dinner and it was cooked perfectly to order and was the best sirloin we've had. The rosemary potatoes were perfectly crisp on the outside and soft inside. We also had the crepe dessert. So so good!! I am certain we'll be back! The only reason I docked one point is that, while they were very nice, the young servers/food runners were not very knowledgeable when asked questions, which falls to management.

Great wine, everything else...ouch. I used to come here over the years prior and it was unparalleled quality. The chef was Argentine and made some of the best steaks I have had in my life. The appetizers were also excellent - empanadas, cheeses, blood sausage (it sounds strange but it was amazing)...very authentic experience considering we weren't in Argentina. However, the last time we went in March was a spectacular disappointment. Something must have changed, and not for the better. The steaks were tough and chewy, and no longer came with the potatoes they used to come with. There was no more cheese dip appetizer, instead replaced with chips and guacamole. Seriously? A Tex-Mex snack? It's now a Pan-Latin restaurant, and Pan-anything is generally a sign of deteriorating quality in food. This was a huge let-down after all the awesome evenings and meal I had here in the past. The wine selection is still very good, at least. It's worth a visit for that. But don't waste your time with the food, as much as it hurts to say. Pictures included from how it used to be.

This place is absolutely fantastic! I highly recommend checking it out. The portions are generous, ensuring you'll never leave hungry. The staff is incredible--warm, welcoming, and they truly make you feel at home.

Such a great winery near Lakeway Texas. It has Argentinian influences, and a great selection of wine. To start off with, you should get a reservation. You can call to make a reservation, which I recommend as tables fill up fast. They even have live music on Saturday nights starting at 6. The outdoor patio is spacious and gorgeous. I recommended the empanadas as appetizers (Beef and corn ones are great), and also loved the flint of red wine. Very good notes and pair well with the food. Service is fast and great, will definitely be returning!

This place is such a hidden gem in the Austin area. Genuinely the best value for steak (probably because if you live in the city you have to drive so far to get to it), plus incredible appetizers and wine! I always take friends here and they're blown away every time. Depending on when you go, they may also have live musicians playing while you eat. I've met the owners, musicians, and cook, and they're all fantastic people. The cook is Argentinian himself and the owners lived in Argentina for some time before moving back to Texas, but own a winery in Mendoza where the wine is grown. I can't say enough great things about this place, you just need to go for yourself and try it. I'd recommend making a reservation for an outdoor table and going about an hour before sunset. In true Argentinian fashion, the food service can be pretty slow, but it's no problem when you can sit and listen to music, drink wine, and enjoy the sunset!

We love this place so much! The wine, food, service and the grounds are so beautiful. Great live music too! I recently booked a dinner here for 20 people for my husband's birthday. We had a great table on the patio and a massive storm rolled in. Parker and her team were amazing! They quickly ran us inside and set us up so the party continued seamlessly. They carried in all of our plates, drinks and stuff. They were drenched from the rain and did all they could to make sure everyone was taken care of. What an amazing team of people!!! Can't wait to get back here for a glass of wine and delicious empanadas!

El Gaucho Winery was a 10/10! The views are incredible and the food was even better. We shared the sirloin steak dinner with chimichurri which the also came with ceviche, 4 empanadas, and 1 side and we chose the rice and added the maduros (12/10). We ordered a bottle of the Cabernet savignon and then got a glass of the Malbec, can say the Malbec was definitely our favorite! Mark our server was also very friendly and understanding. Will absolutely be back and can't recommend enough!

Quick! Make sure to plan time to visit this amazing little gem in the hill country. The wine is exquisite! Flavorful options and all directly from Argentina. They also offer authentic Argentine food that is DELICIOUS. The steaks and roasted vegetables are just amazing. We stopped over again spontaneously last night for a little nibble and some wine - we had one of my faves the Burratina appetizer (grilled Portabella mushroom with Italian cheese), the Ravioli and an empanada. The service is quick and super friendly and just a neat relaxing atmosphere. Some nights they will have live music in the beautiful backyard. Be sure to stop in, you can thank me later. Things to note: - they have little teepees and a yard for kids to run around - the driveway uphill is rocky and a bit rough - they have seating inside for maybe 25-30 ppl, so if you want the AC, make a reservation - they have ample seating areas outside and many are tree covered in the shade or they have tent covers for shade on the large deck and patio. - they have an outdoor wood burning kitchen, so the steaks are LEGIT and delicious! - they do provide bug spray if you need it - nice distant hill country views in a private setting

The setting at Hawks Shadow Winery is gorgeous and the fact that you can take it all in while sipping wine on their patio makes it even better. Parking is great, many options available and the staff is incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, truly passionate about what they do. We got the classic wine tasting for $15/per person which comes with a tasting of four wines although we were given an extra wine to taste in a testament to how friendly the staff is. There's something about sitting up in the hills with wine that just feels incredibly relaxing as a whole. THe view is breathtaking, you can see for miles up there across rolling green hills. It was windy when we were up there so you may want to wear clothes that are tighter fitting to you. The interior of the winery is modern and nicely put together. They sell different tiers of wine tasting alongside a charcuterie board and chocolates should you want a snack while there. One of the highlights is that they offer a cellar tour of their wines for free on request. We saw a large group taking advantage of that when we peeked down there. They were also incredibly accommodating of our dog while we were on the patio and brought him a bowl to drink from while out there. Free water bottles are also available to grab, which is very nice of them to put out for patrons. These are people who care tremendously about what they do and the land they do it on. They deserve all the praise we've given them and strongly encourage anyone looking for something to do in hill country to stop by, you won't regret it.
