Be aware, Avis, Budget, and Payless all operate out of one counter at Savannah. Two and a half hours in line plus over an hour after to get keys. Did not receive the car type I reserved. Plus, even though everyone in my line was behaving and generally taking it as well as could be expected, the manager made sure to scold the entire line to be patient. I almost never leave reviews, but this was a "never again" kind of experience. read more

Worst car rental experience. Waited in line for over an hour and wait another half hour to get the key. The staff were extremely inefficient. read more

In looking at the past reviews it seems that this Budget location hasn't figured out its staffing problem. Well over two hours to get a car with a reservation. Just don't. I will never rent from Budget again. read more

Traveling from the east coast and traveling all over the world and major metropolitan cities I have Never seen "no help" in less than 40 minutes. I have been standing here for an hour waiting for customer service and they continue to ignore the customer line. There are 2 reps helping people and every time people show up at the preferred line we get to stay here and wait for help!!!! It's frustrating as no one can imagine. Finally a great person allowed one person to go in front of the preferred line. I've asked how come the reps don't call anyone for back up. They already know they have a ton of reservations and they should plan better!!! I will never rent from Budget and I hope I hear soon from the managers!! Do not rent from budget at the Savannah Airport!!! Poor management and so sad they leave reps to fend for themselves. read more

Budget - Car Rental Near Me - Savannah, Georgia

Unfortunately can't give them zero stars. It won't let me. My experience today was easily the WORST rental experience I have ever had. 45 mins in line waiting with folks behind the counter not servicing any customers. Once thru the line I've been waiting for 30 mins to get my car, along with 30 or 40 other people. Absolutely the WORST! read more

Budget - Ridiculous! - Car Rental Near Me - Savannah, Georgia

We are at Savannah airport and have been in line for 2 hours waiting for a car I reserved and paid for 5 weeks ago ! There are still about 30 people in front of me. They say they are trying to clean cars. Fact is They OVERBOOKED! Never again with budget ! read more

As most have already said this experience was the worst. Three hour wait which started our vacation out poorly. When we got to the service agent and the hand written sign that said "short staffed be patient". He commented that 2 hours was a good day! Here is one thing that bugged me is they tried to up charge me just to get a car that was ready rather than the one We ordered but we had to wait again for the them to get from the garage. Then when we returned we found an additional "surcharge" which they neglected to run when we got the car or tell us about. Never never never again...Budget not worth it! So sad customer service too...when asked to explain the surcharge sorry Issac and Bernard, they couldn't figure it out for a half hour then couldn't take it out but offered a coupon for the next time...I don't think so, we will never use them again. read more

Looks like they removed my original post. This place is the worst. Waiting over 90 minutes to grab a vehicle, no Presidents club benefit at all. Started renting national when flying into Savannah airport. read more

Long line, no benches, I would rather wait in the DMV line. My four year old grew a beard during our wait. Update. Dude next to me in line ordered Uber eats and let me join in on his order. Wings coming soon. Things are looking up. Update 2. Been in line for 2 hours. Still haven't reached the counter. Made friends with a volleyball named Wilson. Things aren't looking good. read more

No one should EVER rent with this service. Waiting over an hour (after waiting 30 minutes to check in for my reservation) to have my reservation cancelled due to a very rude and disrespectful employee because I questioned how much longer I was going to have to wait. Budget should be very disappointed in itself and the people it has representing its name/business. read more

It's past 5pm now. I got in line before 3:30pm. One of the staff members just ended her shift, so it's down to just 1 person. I still don't have my car and I don't know when I will get it. This is inexcusable for a company that knows how many reservations (at which times) are booked in advance. I would give 0 stars if I could. Edit: it's almost 6:30 and still no car. Seriously, avoid this place. read more

Can I give minus stars? We waited over 2.5 hours for a pre-paid rental car. They claimed to have a staff shortage but every chair was full. It seemed like almost all the girls had attitude and only one seemed to be able to "make decisions" There were so many pissed off people waiting for cars that I instantly remembered why I use Hertz..... Unfortunately this trip was all done by a third party so I didn't notice that they used Budget for my rental! *********Check out the last 20+ reviews of this place, they are ALL 1 star********** read more

This was an absolutely awful rental car experience. I rented through Costco and the lady up sold me because my flight arrived one hour prior to what I had put on the reservation. So my option was wait one hour or be up sold. She then tried to upsell me on multiple other items. She was rude. I do not plan to ever rent at Budget again. read more

You have a 12 pm reservation and two hours later your still waiting in line, no where close to getting the car. The worst budget I have ever rented from. read more

Don't go. Just don't do it. It's Monday. And we waited 4 hr, 21 min for a car we had reserved and PAID IN FULL FOR AHEAD OF TIME. They say they are understaffed but there also has to be a level of poor operations. When we finally were told our car was ready, we walked out, they keys were in the car, and all we had to do was push a button to get out of the gate! So if you are seeing this and are stuck in line, go outside, go to the left, walk to the cars and just take one! read more

I rented an SUV at the Savannah Airport in June. We prepaid the rental through Priceline. At the counter we asked for the $15.00 per day insurance that they offered through Priceline. They asked us to sign. The total showed $678.00. We questions and the agent responded that the prepaid cost of the car would be deducted from total when we returned. That sounded reasonable. She actually committed fraud. We were charged $678.00 worth of insurance when we returned the car. I have been reaching out to get a resolution. Budget reduced the charge to 400 but that is not acceptable. I would suggest NOT working with Budget at the airport in Savannah and probably not a good idea anywhere else. It is clear that we didn't need $678.00 worth of insurance but they refused to do anything. read more

1) they had a sign saying spouses will not be charged as a second driver yet they charged me as a second driver. When I called to have my bill fixed they would not answer the phone. Voice mailbox was always full. The national Corporate budget office would not fox this issue as they stated this is a locally owned franchise and they had no authority. Be forewarned. Horrible service Corrupt. Fraudulent. read more

My flight landed in Savannah at 5:45. It was about 6:20 by the time we got off the plane and got our baggage. Then we were faced with an extremely long line waiting to check in or verify our reservation. It's now 7:30 and there are still 20 families ahead of me online. This is completely unacceptable! And I even checked in via the app to "save time at the airport, " but that is meaningless. I also called customer support to complain and they hung up on me! I know they are short staffed; apparently that's the reason for this delay. But still.... I will never fly into Savannah and rent a car through budget again! read more

We had a 3 hr wait to get our rental car on Sat, May 14th, at the Budget Car Rental desk, at the Savannah Airport. The line at the desk was over 50 people long. Three desk attendants, but we were told the issue was not enough staff to clean and release cars. Avis, Hetz, and Enterprise had no lines and their clients were in and out in 10-15 mins. After complaining, was given a $100 discount on a $1500 rental fee. Never again Budget!! read more

Please be aware that this review is towards budget corporate. They are consistently over booking and stranding both guests and their staff with long waits and frustration. I have been waiting over 3 hours for my reservation that I made over 6 months ago. Additionally they are calling people who were behind me in line so they do not go in order of arrival. Corporate needs to stop allowing so many bookings and overwhelming the system when they do not have staff. Please book with another company and save yourself the time. While I was here dollar/thrifty and enterprise seemed like they had no line. read more

Horrendous the worst service I have ever gotten!!!! I will never take Budget again. Both on receiving the car in Charleston where we picked it up and had a huge walk to the rental desk to get the paperwork (none of this was written in the booking). The address provided was wrong. Had a huge line at the rental desk. And then we had a huge walk back to the rental lot. Took one and a half hours poor customer service! Then on returning the car I would give a 0 if possible. Again no information provided. They gave us the wrong address for car return. The Budget lot said we needed to go to the terminal. The terminal had a sign that said to go to Avis. Aviis said to go to Budget we were told to go outside to a kiosk. They told us to go back inside. After an exhausting 1 and a half hours of panic looking and questioning we were told to drive to another lot. When we found that lot 10 minutes away we were told to throw our keys in the windshield and leave the car! Many were doing the same and panicked and exhausted. I asked where the terminal was. The one girl running around pointed. It was a half hour walk with no shuttles or vans! We had huge suitcases. We had to run to catch our flight. It was a miracle we caught it. We had to run the whole way with heavy suitcases and we were exhausted. It put a damper on our whole trip. We were told they don't have any shuttles at that location and yet it's listed as a terminal location. Worse experience for car rental ever! Understaffed, inconvenient, no information and even the people who workfor Budget sent us the wrong way and gave us wrong answers information!!!! read more

Officially stood longer in line at Budget than I spent on the plane from DC to Savannah. Literally two hours to get a car. Apparently that's pretty good here. Yikes. read more

I've spent at least 10 hours attempting to get reimbursed $127. Budget gave my car away before the 1 hour threshold (I still had 15 minutes remaining). ***Funny thing is, the person at the counter told me they had already rented it to someone 90 minutes earlier! *** That left me with no car and a trip to Hertz as they were the only rental place with a car available. Person at the counter was flippant and unapologetic. Customer service has told me they will reimburse. That was the end of March '22. It is May 15th and, after two conversations, it is still being "processed". At this point, its the principle of the thing. Reimburse me the money and provide a significant credit. Hope springs eternal! read more

We decided to rent an SUV from this budget rental car. I will never rent a car through them after the experience I had at this location. When we arrived at the Budget counter, there was no one at it, and a sign telling us to go down to the Avis window. When we arrived, we waited for 1 1/2 hours in line. It seems like maybe they should have had some more employees so they can actually have people manning their window. We finally get to the front of the line, and they don't have our SUV. All they have is a stupid van, and they consider it an upgrade. I do not consider it an upgrade. It is actually a massive downgrade for us and our intended use, but no, they can not give us a discount for our downgrade as I would expect. What is even the point of a reservation ? Next, they did not have our now downgraded vehicle. While waiting for our vehicle, I observed someone cutting in line and asking if they have vehicles available , and the counter attendent that I spoke to tells them they have plenty of them. I also asked for a car instead and was told they had none available. Waited another 45 minutes before we had our vehicle. Worst car rental experience ever. It's pretty sad when it takes longer to get your rental vehicle than your 2 hour flight read more

The Avis/Budget counter at Savannah Hilton head airport is an absolute disaster. Two people behind the counter in a busy Saturday afternoon one of whom spends most of her time in the phone. Each transaction takes 10-15 minutes and the line is winding through baggage claim. My flight took less time than I spent in this line. Two hours waiting to get a car. read more

When we received our vehicle it was supposed to be one that would hold 5 people and this was at best a stretch. 3 people in the back was very crowded and uncomfortable. This was only a minor issue as we didn't spend a whole lot of time driving. The main issue is that upon returning the vehicle with a freshly filled up tank of gas, we received and invoice which included 1/2 a tank of fuel at almost $10/gallon. We ended up spending a total of around 5 hours of our time to prove that they made a mistake. I do not believe it was a mistake and I feel that they are doing this on purpose in order to cheat people out of their money. We sent them the statement from our card used to purchase the fuel, it included the date, time, location of fueling up and the amount of purchase. They then responded saying that it needed to include exactly what was already included on the document. We finally were able to get a refund of the fraudulent charges. When we inquired about some type of credit or coupon for us having to waste our time to prove they were wrong, it was refused. Basically they get to charge you whatever they feel like, then it is up to you to do the legwork to prove them wrong and they have no consequence for the error that they made. This is very frustrating and wrong. The only reason for 2 stars is that the car worked and didn't break down. read more

Picking up my car here was quick and easy. Returning it was also quick and easy. Only weird thing was when I came down the escalators, on the left was a big sign that said "Budget" so I went over there and the lady said "Go to the Avis counter on the other side". I did so and got my car there. I know they're owned by the same company but it's weird they have someone sitting there who just tells you to go somewhere else. read more

I've been a long time Budget costumer and am one of their preferred customers. Furthermore, I was able to get a much cheaper deal using Budget than any of the other rental agencies at SAV airport. Anyway, my only complaint was the check-in counter. There were only two agents for about 8+ costumers and the line was slow-moving. Other than that, I did get an intermediate SUV for the price of an intermediate sedan. Returning the car was simple; Not a hassle whatsoever. I would use them again. read more

If you love to wait in long lines and deal with apathetic employees who are unmotivated you'll love Budget/Avis!! After an 8 hour cross country flight my group endured a 3 hour process to acquire a car. The budget folks at the counter move at a snails pace and will engage in chit chat after you are at wits end. What a joke. We reserved a car as Avis and budget preferred and are currently stuck here waiting no explanation or anything. They are saying they're short staffed. 2 1/2 hours in line just to get to the desk. At least 50 people were waiting in line or waiting for cars. 4 1/2 hours total until we got our rental car because they are short staffed and there was supposedly only one guy cleaning cars after return. This was in the evening a few weeks ago so all restaurants and even TSA were closed. We were afraid they would just close before we got a car. The positive is that we met some nice people while we were all waiting and the car we eventually got was nice. Corporate should not overbook car reservations that staff can't handle. read more
