    Avoid!!! I booked this rental over a month ago. I needed at least 6 person car and they tried to give me a 4 person. It took over an hour for the lady to go through 3 people. There's no gold circle, so don't think you have a special pass. I'm waiting for my 6passenger car to be washed......it's been 2.15 hours and counting. My plane landed at 227. It's now 620

April 7 we returned to the airport to rent from Alamo, not realizing it is part of the same company. This time we had a passport, but were still refused a rental. We were told they would not rent to us based on our interaction the previous day. Staff again refused to explain any policy or provide documentation when asked, and were dismissive throughout. At that point, it no longer appeared to be about requirements, but about how we were being treated. The overall experience felt unnecessarily hostile and personal. Two trips to the airport, time and money wasted, and no rental either day. I contacted corporate 5 to 6 times and was promised follow ups, but never received a single response. Very disappointing and unprofessional experience.

We arrived around 11:30 pm into Savannah, and there was a huge crowd around the desk with a sign that said they were out of cars due to unforeseen circumstances. So, why was that? Well, a storm was coming in, plus a government shutdown caused long delays at the airport. People were driving and returning cars nearby to get home, which wasn't fair to those who actually reserved a car. Julie, a seasoned customer rep, called us at 3 pm to confirm what time we'd arrive. With the delays, we told her late evening, and she said she would hold our car. But when we finally showed up there was no car in sight, major disappointment. We ended up taking an Uber for $150, got to our hotel ar 145am, and the whole ordeal was exhausting. The next morning, we tried calling Avis at multiple locations to sort things out, but no luck. We actually booked our reservation through Costco Travel, and they basically told us to do what we needed, promising they'd reimburse us since Avis wasn't helping. Thankfully, Julie called and said our car was ready in Savannah, so we had to take the long trek back to Savannah from Hilton Head, NC. The whole thing was incredibly inconvenient. They did offer us an upgrade, and the Uber costs. Fast forward to after our trip, we had to return the car to RDU (Raleigh-Durham). Everything went smoothly until we dropped off the car and saw an $850 charge -- luckily, I took a picture of the signed contract. So, keep all documentation just in case. Julie really tried to help and took on more than she probably should have, juggling a supervisor/manager role. She probably doesn't get the credit she deserves or the pay. Honestly, she's the reason I don't give Avis a 1-star but instead a 3/5. For anyone booking with Avis, I'd recommend using a third-party service so they can handle the stress because if you book directly through Avis, they're not much help at all.

After picking up the rental vehicle, I started to notice a strong odor consistent with drugs inside the car. I was traveling with young children, which made this especially concerning from a health and safety standpoint. In addition, the vehicle's maintenance warning light came on indicating a potential mechanical issue. We did try to purchase fabric refresher and car deodorizer to settle the smell but it appeared, nothing helped. W brought these concerns to the attention of the on-site management from where we rented the car from and requested a different vehicle. We were told as long as there was availability trading this car in for another would not be an issue. We arrived at the airport where there was more than enough inventory. In spite of other vehicles were visibly available, management refused to assist or provide a replacement because of the holiday season. I was left with no reasonable alternative and felt completely disregarded as a customer, particularly given the safety implications for my children. We are also traveling for the holidays. This experience fell far below acceptable standards for customer service and vehicle safety. I expect rental vehicles to be clean, properly maintained, and safe--especially when families are involved. I am requesting a formal review of this incident, an explanation for why assistance was refused, and appropriate compensation for the inconvenience and distress caused. Thank you for

Not only was everyone behind the counter mostly just talking & having fun which hey that's wonderful but do that on a break not when there's a long line of people waiting. Sign even says wait to be called up. Yeah cuz there's 4 people behind the counter hanging out but only 1 actually working lol. Someone finally decided they'd accept a customer & up we went. No one here obviously has heard of a compact suv and told me I don't get the rental from the photo as if I was born yesterday. I explained I never go by the photo I go by the class of what I want, I'm not an idiot who thinks you book the exact car in photo. Usually we book a compact SUV with free upgrade to regular suv. They said yes I was upgraded economy to full size car. No economy SUV! They seemed to not understand a compact suv was not a regular compact car. Telling me there's no such thing as a compact suv as I'm like yes a Hyundai venue or similar as they're like you don't get the car from the photo. Arguing with these idiots will get you nowhere as they couldn't grasp the concept so I finally said just give us the suv & we'll argue after the rental with actual company. When we're back home not tired after a flight & been sitting in the airport for an hour. Not to mention all these poor people behind us waiting and a poor guy next to us arguing with them about something similar. I know nothing about cars but I know there's a small SUV & a small car in the world. They are not all in same class or same thing lol. Maybe this budget location shouldn't offer compact SUVs if no one behind counter even knows they exist or that it's an option. Out of 20 car rentals of same exact car class we never had this happen anywhere else. Guy next to us kept saying he'd never dealt with these kind of problems at any other budget so it seems to be a theme with them. Even googling comparable to a Hyundai vue would be a Kona, trax, kicks, or soul. An upgrade would be a Mazda or rav4 or something along those lines. Not a Camry lol. Guy next to us was happy he just wanted a Camry and heard we weren't taking it so he said I'll take theirs! Guy behind the counter was like unless you're jumping in the backseat of their car you're not getting it cuz it wasn't put back in system yet. Just snotty way to basically tell him he'd have to wait which he was totally fine doing as he explained. We were like common fellow soldiers in a war lol. You start making friends when everyone is stuck at counter forever arguing with these people. Anyway I'd never rent from budget in this location again and I suggest no one do either unless you want some kind of issue. Read the reviews. Hopefully there's no issues when we drop off the suv or any other issues. Fun start to our vacation.

When I arrived, there was nobody at the counter. (Their website said it opened at 7AM. ) A call to Payless customer service was not helpful. After 30 minutes of waiting, I learned that AVIS and Payless were part of the same company so I went to the AVIS counter and got my key. The car I had selected and paid for online was not available, so I was forced to upgrade for $10 per day. The car was clean, but the gas tank was less than full. There were no instructions provided on how to return the vehicle. I returned it to where I got it and brought my key inside because there was no attendant outside in the parking lot. After waiting in line, the counter clerk told me I had to drive the car around to a different lot. She said it would be easy. But it was not. She told me to just leave the keys on the dash and I'd be all set. I drove all around the airport to the lot indicated, and there was no parking sign for AVIS or Payless. The security guard suggested a place to park. I followed her instructions. The car was in perfect shape and the gas tank was completely full. I left the keys and prayed that the car would be safe. Later, when I got home, I saw a tag stapled to my receipt that perhaps should've been left on the dashboard when I turned in the car? It took 30 minutes for me to return my vehicle! This is unacceptable. In other airports, it is less than five minutes. This time, it did not "feel good to Payless"

This might be the worst rated rental place I've seen, but figured I would give them a try regardless since it's what was chosen for me. I picked up a car from this Thrifty location inside of the Savannah airport roughly two weeks ago and not once did I ever interact with anyone at Thrifty, because 9AM on a Thursday is not a time they choose to be open so I had to check in at Hertz a few booths over. The process itself wasn't terrible although the employee working forgot to give me car keys so I had to walk to the car pickup, tell them, then they walked inside and got me some keys so I can't complain too much, I was able to drive out of there without much of a headache. Overall, this place was fine and minus being a little annoying, I was able to get a car and drive around the city. Was it perfect? No, but it is what it is.

I called the 1-800 number and they gave me a number to the airport in Savannah. I promise that I tried that number for 3 days straight with no luck but then I noticed that there was a different number on the receipt. I called twice and the young lady who picked up the phone was able to solve this issue within 1 minute.
