I have been going to Buddy's for around a year and a half now and I can say I'm so glad his shop is always available, His staff are always so nice and even with the long wait times for repairs (depending on your car) they seem to always do an amazing job. The price is also always fair, My first car was marked at 3k+ for a tire replacement and allotment and by the end of the week buddy gave me a 1k price with a tire replacement and rotation, It was amazing and way better then I was expecting! I would not recommend this place, took my car thought it was the alternator due to all lights on and he said he will check it to make sure. I picked up my car and lights were still on. I called him as I was on my way out to tell him but took me a while to bring it back in and then I was charged for them checking it and being told it is something else and would cost me $1900. Why did he change my alternator then????? I bet they didn't even check before doing it. Now I am still driving my car with all the lights on because I cant afford to fix it yet :( read more

Called before having car towed there was told it would be fixed by end of day as long as I could leave it so I did the end of 1st day I had to call and check on it and they had not even looked at it said it would be 1st thing in morning waited til noon and still not in yet told them I had to have it back that day or I was having it towed somewhere else. Was quoted a price of 420$ for water pump and was charged well over that and was never informed of a 135$ hook up fee but also billed for that. My bill was over 1300$ when I could of had same job done for 932$ at Greg's. So if you come here get it in writing the prices because they will screw you otherwise. read more

My mom took her car here to get 3rd brake light repaired. When she picked it up and took her great grandkids to karate practice her car wouldn't shift out of park a ford fusion. She's 83 years old and was stranded with 2 young boys. She got the car towed back to Buddy s place and they said they replaced the shifter cable to transmission and he said it would cost $1015.00. Now the ford fusion has a known recall with the bushing that holds it to t the transmission. Its about a 50 cent part. I asked to see the old cable and he produced a brand new cable and claimed it was the old one. I asked him to open the hood and I could see that the old cable was still there. He had only replaced the bushing on the old cable. Then he pretended to start the car and said it wouldn't start and wanted to know what i did to the car as if I had broke it. Now the car would start my mom started it and when she got out he snuck around behind her jumped in the car and drove it into shop. Do you think that he doesn't know the difference between a new part and a old part. When confronted with questions about old and new cable he ripped the cable out of my hands which injured my hand and claimed his employee must have lied to him about getting the job done. I said well all you did was replace a small rubber bushing why don't you just charge us for that and the labor for what you did. I said we don't need a cable just the bushing. He said he couldnt order just the bushing without the cable, which is a lie amazon has them. He got so mad that he said he was going to get the job done right and had one of his employees tear apart the dash and the console and whatever engine parts to get to cable and he replaced the whole thing even though it didn't need it I knew it and he knew it but he just wanted to extract 1000 dollars from my mom who now doesn't have any money left for anything. I am sure that he loosened up the bushing so my mom would get stranded cuz she never had a problem with it before and he knew ford had a recall on it. Perfect scam right! Anyway we will see him in small claims court and I am considering filing assault charges on him for hurting my arm and hand. H told my mom on the phone after he replaced the un needed cable that he was going to give her a discount but I showed back up during the repair to see what they were doing and to ask them why they were doing something that didn't need to be done that there would be no discount for her. Lets recap He lied about replacing cable Showed me a new one and said it was used. Wouldn't just charge us for work that was done after we caught him in a lie about it. Said he couldn't order just bushing When i said we would pay for cable but not the labor for something he never did he said nope he was going to get the job that didn't need to be done right. We were getting that new cable on no matter what even though he wanted to send us home without it. The guys a real piece of work stranding my 83 year old mother and stealing from her. read more

Went in for an oil change on my BMW. Mike, the owner is great. Got me in immediately. Even ordered an Uber for me to get back to work. No typical upsell that I've experienced elsewhere. Also received text updates. Oil change was very quick as well. A couple of weeks later my car was hit and my insurance adjuster called him to make sure my car wasn't damaged when he changed the oil (really, Progressive? Like I'm going to spend money on a synthetic oil change on a wrecked car??) Mike called just to make sure I was ok and not hurt. THAT'S customer service! Thank you, Mike! read more

A handful of auto body shops rejected my very simple request to be seen today for something very simple and very silly. I wasn't willing to wait more than a day to get this done but Buddy's Automotive accepted me with open arms even being super backed up for the day with prior clients. I accidentally opened a panel on the inside of my car that ended up not being a panel at all and needed to get it glued back on. I don't know very much about cars, which explains sometimes the fact I end up damaging something trying to figure out my shit. Anyhow, I was in and out in about half an hour, they simply glued back together a part of the interior I accidentally broke and it was super cheap and affordable, they didn't ask for very much but I was very much willing to pay for their time and I'm happy they allowed me to compensate them for the awesome quick fix. I'm gonna come back and get my tires rotated (again for an insanely low quoted price) and I will update this review when I can when I do get that done. For now, this is my new go to place! They've been nothing but helpful, honest and forward with me, something these kind of businesses seem to lack. :) read more

Took my car into install a small bushing. My car was stuck in park. I found a video of how to fix this and it took the mechanic less than 15 minutes to fix it. I told them what to do. They told me I needed to replace the entire cable which would, according to the mechanic in the video, would cost over $400. I towed the car to Midas and I told them just to install the bushing, which they did. Now works fine. Did not need the entire cable that Buddy's told me I needed!!!!! read more

So it's not the actual car repair I'm rating this 1 star on it's the actual owner of this shop and his lack of respect he has for his employees that I'm rating this 1 star on. Mike, the guy in the front, and Lisa, are both very nice, helpful people. How they put up with an asshole like Buddy is beyond me. His mechanics are also very nice and very good at their jobs. TBH not sure how he has any employees at all considering he screams at them all daily in front of any all customers unfortunate enough to be there. I honestly had second hand embarrassment for them. I will never use Buddy's again. I feel like when you make an appointment a week in advance, they should prioritize you a little. A 6 hour fix (guesstimate) should not take 3 days! They shouldn't give you a loaner car with no heat, and not enough light to even see the speedometer. It never should come to that. When something is "supposedly " fixed, but still doing the same thing it was doing (In my case leaking coolant) they again should prioritize you when you make another appointment a week in advance! I shouldn't be told it would take all day to find out what the problem is. In my mind, that just means I would be without a car all weekend... Again... NOT HAPPENING!!!! This place does not value your time, money, or you for that matter. They are rude as hell, and don't give a you know what. I would take your car somewhere else, unless you like being treated like crap. read more

They actually don't know what they're doing to fix a car I've had my car in there a couple times and it just it wasn't right when it came back out one time I went to pick it up and it was wrecked in the front and they never called or did anything to say that someone did it ended up being one of the tow trucks and then they put the bumper back on and they didn't even put it that on right so I'm done I am not going back not one more time I thought it would be a very good mechanic shop but I was sure wrong. read more

I Took my vehicle in Thursday morning after I called the show and they offered to take me and my toddler home. I was desperate and I haven't drove my vehicle in months. I talked to Mike that evening and he told me it was a few things and it was fixable. for them to start they was gonna have to charge $95 and $120 for them to start fixing. I talked to him the next day in the morning and he said they had to replace the pushrod and valve cover all for $404. But later that day they brought the price down to $212 and only replaced the pushrod a $4 part and wasn't sure if my camshaft or one of my lifters was the problem. They didn't fix the problem. I picked it up and my husband was upset and went in to confront them because now my vehicle was knocking and that didn't happen when I dropped it off. They was talking nice to him and tried to explain. But he walked out mad saying we'll never come back here again. I'm a female and I was talked down to when I talked to them but my husband had to go in and had respect. So now I have a vehicle that isn't working right and knocking and won't start right away. I have more of a problem than I did before and paid over $200 on a $5 part. I only let them work on my vehicle because they said it was fixable and $400 read more

Horrible mechanics overpriced not knowledgeable had a tension pulley repaired didn't do the belt at the same time and a week later it slipped and broke the smooth idle pulley do to there mistake broke down and is costing me dearly will Never be back read more

I had work done to my car and came back with broken pieces been letting mike work on my cars for years but they don't fix what they are supposed to fix... they do what they want to do and charge u something different.. I bought new parts for them to put on and they didn't put them on.... plz I beg u not to go to them.... always get your old parts back to make sure they actually did the work. I was a loyal customer faithfull he knew that I would pay whatever price he told me, so they would lie about parts they fixed and didn't... make sure u get your old parts back. because they will get over on you if u don't know cars... I repeat do not go to them... they always arguing with customers on the line about there parts on they car that they didn't not fix or something broken that they have done... if I had time I would tell you about each car and what car they messed up bad... Brought my vehicle in several times for a transmission issue. They did not properly document my issue. I told them to contact my warranty over the issue. They did not. Transmission went out, warranty was up. And I had no way to show that there had been an issue all along. Shop wanted me to pay $3,000 out of pocket. My warranty would have covered it. Also brought my truck in for a sound around my wheel. Shop said it was a wheel bearing. Charged me $700 to fix it. Got home sound was still there. Took it back. Told me everything was fine. Went on a road trip. Wheel almost came off my vehicle. My hub was destroyed bc a tech didn't put my spacer on correctly. Mike told me it was safe to drive. I dealt with Mike in all these situations. Don't trust mike, don't listen to mike, he is a liar and will throw you under the bus to save his own ass. Take your vehicles else where. Save yourself the trouble. read more

Overpriced and dishonest. I called these guys regarding a heater core replacement and they told me the whole dashboard had to be taken out which is a lie. Five years prior I did the job myself and only had to unbolt the dashboard and lift it up and then hold it with clamps.I know that if I do it that way I'm sure they have shortcuts too and if they don't then that explains the high costs. read more

Had to have my truck towed there after a breakdown driving out of town. They have a in-house wrecking service, which was convenient, and the folks there are nice. I did have a problem, however. When the truck initially broke down, all the signs pointed to an alternator problem, which I explained to them. When they had "fixed" the truck, all they had done was replace the battery and a cable to the battery (including $75 tow, over $300). Now the battery was old, so I went along with it and was happy I didn't pay more. Four days later, however, the truck failed again, this time stranding me on I-70 between Lawrence and Bonner Springs. Guess what the problem was? Yep, the alternator. So, they didn't hit the mark with fixing the problem, even though the problem was simple. Not sure why they fumbled the ball on this, because they could have charged me more for the repair, but they did. And left me stranded on the highway at night to boot, with another tow expense and repair charge to pay. read more

Excellent service! I recently located to KC region for a new job and was very concerned about finding an honest, reliable car repair shop, but not any longer. I had gone to Buddy's for an oil change about a month ago, and liked my experience. Then, last Friday early a.m. as I headed off to work, the car made a screeching noise, and began intermittently sputtering (as I can best describe it). The check engine light came on. I drove straight to Buddy's rather than risk getting on the highway. Mike worked me in the schedule. I was out within 2 hours and at work by 10:30 a.m. I write this because it is a new job and one that I can't risk missing a lot of time at. Incidentally, needed to replace the valve cover - something that couldn't wait. Since this is a new used vehicle, that I just bought in October, I called the dealership to see if they might be willing to help out with the bill. Unfortunately, I was just a couple of weeks beyond their warrantee. They encouraged me to take it to the GM dealership out here - that "they should cover it for free." I just shook my head. While I certainly like to save money wherever I can, when you consider needing to take more time off from a new job, juggling rides, and making sure the dog gets taken care of in the midst of it all, it likely would have been a wash or cost me even more. Additionally, I likely would have been without the car, for at least a couple of days when you add the storm that came in Friday afternoon and over the weekend. It certainly gives me some peace of mind knowing that Buddy's Automotive is here. read more
