Buddakan was definitely a vibe The atmosphere was beautiful, the food came out fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The shrimp dishes, rice, and steak were some of my favorites, and the cocktails topped the night off perfectly Service was friendly and the overall experience felt upscale yet fun. Definitely a great spot for date night, birthdays, or just treating yourself. Check out the photos!

The ambiance in here is gorgeous and a massive space. The lighting is dark and reminds me of shopping in Hollister and there's a big bar area on the main level when you enter where you can wait and relax before you're seated. I do think the place gives off some pretentious vibes and it was quite obvious we were the only Asian customers apart from 1 other person. This place is elevated overpriced Pan-Asian fusion food that I feel appeals to non-Asian people. As a Chinese person I'd never really pay these prices for this kind of food which I can get for much better at authentic local restaurants in Queens, Brooklyn or Chinatown. That said, I can see the intrigue to celebrate a birthday or event here because it's very photogenic and aesthetically pleasing to the eye. The noodles and rice dishes were fine; nothing amazing or horrible necessarily. And the mocktail was good but small and not worth $12 per in my opinion! Overall, I wouldn't come back and recommend this place to any Asians but it's very pretty.

Visited for a birthday dinner. Their menu was filled with a lot of delicious food options including party selections for everyone to enjoy. Drinks were really good complimented our dinner very well. We received very detailed service as we were a big party and I had to mention every dish ordered was delicious. Great for any occasion.

Speechless! From the cocktails at the bar To our amazing server and having the ability to try all sorts of item on the menu. Ambiance was sexy and chic Definitely a date night spot. You could seriously miss the entrance door walking down the street if you aren't paying attention. MAKE RESERVATIONS RIGHT NOW. I mean if you will not be disappointed. Thanks again for an amazing experience.

Recommend: Oxtail dumplings, Char Siu Kurobuta Pork, Tranquility (cocktail) Overall a nice selection of dim sum and main dishes. The place is good for large groups, but gets crowded, so reserve if you can. I went by myself on a Saturday night having booked on Resy earlier in the day. Seating took about 5-10min. My waiter was very attentive and gave good recommendations. I'll have to come back to try more. What I ordered: - Tranquility (cocktail): I like tea, so I was intrigued by this concoction of rye, oolong, and kalamansi - Edamame dumplings: these had a rich, smooth consistency, popular amongst other reviewers - Oxtail dumplings: my favorite of the night, packed with a generous amount of meat and flavors from the sauce - Char Siu: a very tender large portion served with a honey glaze - Lobster fried rice: this was okay, there were pieces of lobster throughout, but I can see how others would want larger chunks

Came here for happy hour to celebrate a friend's birthday and this place nailed the vibe Great drinks (the Royale was my favorite ), solid bites--loved the carrot dumplings more than the edamame--and such a fun, stylish ambiance. We were a group of 13 and the staff handled it effortlessly, even surprising us with a complimentary birthday dessert The bartender was super cool, service was smooth, music was on point, and the overall energy was just right. Perfect spot for birthdays, happy hours, and group celebrations. Total vibe

This was basically just Americanized takeout style Chinese food in a bit of a dressed up setting. Practically all of the menu items are hiding some kind of meat product, so definitely inform your server of any dietary restrictions. My server very helpfully pointed out the small handful of dishes that were safe or could be made with minor modifications. The crispy tofu was decent, in a sweet and sour sauce. The greens had a nice garlic kick, but were otherwise a bit bland. The noodles were far too salty - they might've compensated for removing the oyster sauce by doubling the soy sauce instead. The meal worked out to around $72 for two after tax and tip. It's not super expensive for the neighborhood, but you're better off saving a few bucks and going to a takeout spot nearby instead.

From the moment you walk in, the interior just stops you, it's dramatic, moody, and stunning without feeling over the top. Perfect date night spot or celebration with friends. Also the service? Truly incredible. Attentive, warm, and perfectly paced without hovering. They do have a beautifully curated tasting menu that's perfect for smaller groups, but we went the family-style route and honestly... you can't go wrong with anything you order. For apps, we had the marry me popcorn shrimp, edamame dumplings, and chicken soup dumplings. Every single bite was a hit. For mains, we ordered the broken chili chicken, black pepper beef, crispy tofu, and lobster fried rice. All were delicious, but the real standouts were the black pepper beef and the lobster fried rice. This is one of those places that's perfect for great food and great company. Safe to say, it's officially made it onto my top NYC list and I'd go back in a heartbeat.

I can tell the popularity of this restaurant is boosted by its gorgeous interior design and grand setting. As soon as you walk in, there is a cozy little speakeasy-esque bar, and several chairs for a cute waiting area. The inside is massive, and boasts 2 chandeliers followed by grand staircases. This is definitely something you don't see in NYC. With that in mind, to me the quality of a good restaurant is its food, and Buddakan just didn't stand out to me in that way. We came as a big party of 8, and didn't realize most of the dishes were for sharing. I got the mapo tofu. I understand it's more of a fusion restaurant so it may not taste authentic, but my tofu was watery and lacked spice and I didn't think it was with the price. Other friends got the crispy tofu which I preferred, but the glaze was way too sweet. To me, this location is a one and done. Happy to have come and taken photos, but I just wasn't a fan of the food.

If the song "Angel" by Massive Attack was a restaurant, it would be Buddakan. Buddakan's dark and sexy ambience acts as the perfect backdrop to a memorable night out. Oh, and the food? Seriously delicious. Here's what we ordered: - Oxtail dumplings (10/10) - Lobster and shrimp egg rolls (STUFFED w/fresh lobster but lacked a bit of seasoning) (7/10) - Char Siu Pork (9/10) (Must get. Sweet. tender and delicious. - Crispy shrimp with walnuts (10/10) out of this world. Really good - Lobster and Thai basil fried rice (8/10) solid choice but wish there were bigger chunks of lobster Service is super fast and friendly. You will not have a single dirty dish lingering in front of you without a server rushing to clear it. Can't wait to go again and try more dim sum options.

Buddakan is a cavernous place with lighting and interiors to set the vibe. The place was absolutely packed on a Saturday night so it took the restaurant a while to seat us even though we had reservations. Wait staff were friendly and quick with the service. Food was good - particularly the General Tso's Dumplings & Char Siu Kurobuta Pork. Great place for a large group or a special occasion.

Such beautiful space, very dark but elegant at the same time. They have a family style but corded out dinner experience which I LOVE! The server was very attentive and very nice. I didn't get to take pictures of the food because my phone was charging at the hostess station while we were having dinner.

    Can I wear shorts?

I've never seen anyone wearing shorts in there and I have been a few times. I would recommend to avoid it although I don't think you would have any problem to get in wearing shorts.

Is this kid friendly early in the night?

I'd say yes! We went for early dinner and it was quiet and chill.

How about a vegetarian friendly tasting menu?

They have vegeterian-friendly options on the menu, but not a whole tasting menu.

For a birthday party with 6 ladies how many appetizers and entrees approximately should we order? I read that the portions are small.

I'd plan on getting at least 3-4. Portions are small (I'm a big guy), but the appetizers will have you wanting more. So enjoy. Coconut shrimp was amazing. Crispy tofu also. My favorite thing on the menu

Do they have any halal meat (chicken, beef or lamb) dishes?

Hi! Thank you for reaching out. Unfortunately, we do not have halal meat. We hope this helps!

I want to celebrate my bday here next week and would like to be sat at a table with a more lively and "party like" atmosphere. Would you recommend I sit upstairs or downstairs and what is the difference? It would be on a Tuesday, what is the vibe?

The place is loud wherever you sit... I cannot even recall how much of it was music and how much was just the din of people.

    Gluten free options?

Yes! The chicken congee, crispy jumbo shrimp, and charred filet of beef (without the soy butter) are all gluten free options.

Yes. We have indoor dining.… Read more

Typically, it's smart causal. Some dress up plenty, but you can get away with casual clothing. Given COVID, I would dress comfortably if you're sitting outdoors.

I was there the other night and really loved it... and am just curious: Why is it so dark in there? LOL. I mean, it's really dark! Is it always like that?

    It's sexy Lol....Yes

Does Buddakan have outdoor seating? If so are there heaters?

yes. They have overhead heaters and piped hot air. I was there when it was 28 degrees outside and was very comfortable eating outside.

Do they have space heaters or anything set up to keep people warm?

    Nope

Does this location have happy hour?

    yes they do

Do you need to make a reservation for a party of 2 on a Saturday night or can we just walk in?

    You'll need a reservation

Could I just grab a drink at the bar, or do I have to get a table?

    Yes you can.

I wanted to celebrate my girlfriends birthday here over dinner is this place good for that?

Absolutely. Can be great. Upstairs. Yes

    How's the food Portions?

    I'd say they're small, personally

    Is the meat kosher?

No. The meat can be prepared Kosher-style; without the inclusion of butter or other dairy, however the meat is not prepared in the traditional Kosher manner.

Can a large party come here and get large plates to share?

Yes for sure!! We encourage family style dining!

This person proceeds to say one of the workers kicked his friend out because she was "assaulted" and let me tell you this is far from the truth, as I was the one who was apart of that altercation. To set the scene: I was there with my boyfriend this night. We come here once a month if not every other month for a smoke and cocktail. There was a group of loud folks - who we presume had been drinking - but didn't think much of it. At some point I had to use the bathroom, and there's only one here. I knocked on the door and turned the knob but it was locked. I wanted a few minutes, knocked again - lightly both times - but again no one came out. There was some old newspaper nearby that had in my hand while I waited for someone to come out. A moment later a woman barged from bathroom angrily and was holding her hand up and it appeared she had something sharp - like a hand knife or small blade. She was belligerent, yelling about why I was bothering her in the bathroom and got really close. I was almost sure she was going to stab or seriously injure me with whatever she had in her hand. I only had a moment to think and defend myself... she was pretty damn loud that everyone turned around. I shoved her to give me some space between her and myself and that sharp object. She then started screaming and I pushed her away again, and she continued to charge after me. My own boyfriend and two men had to get her away (for context I'm 5'3 100lbs and she was a lot lager than myself) and she was dragged out by staff and kicked her friends out as well. Outside, you can hear her screaming and crying saying I had started it, I assaulted her, she was going to call the cops etc.. Im glad I wasn't hurt because she's absolutely insane and I should have been the one to call and press charges for her making an attempt. No one harassed her even in the slightest. She was incredibly drunk or blacked out or high on cocaine or something. They have security footage and the testimonies of my own boyfriend who witnessed it happen from start to finish and several other people + staff that could recount this story. That said - FAFO. I stumbled upon it recently again, and as is the case with most lounges, things have relatively stayed the same: long bar with lots of seating, but a super narrow place that doubles up with seating, so you can get pretty cramped in here at peak hours. Still, it's a good place to lounge and chill, kick back with a good cigar, and enjoy a decent selection of bourbons. Good service at overall. Must say that their selection of cigars is not the best, as is often the case with lounges with no humidor.

Equally bomb! Perfect combo if you're drinking. You just HAVE to get a Sapporo when you're at a Japanese spot. I ended the meal with the café cocktail which I normally wouldn't order without milk... but this one? Sweet, delicious, and totally didn't need it. It was so good! Now the DJ... not jazz, not chill vibes, not whatever TikTok led me to expect. Nope. Full-on techno/trip hop/drum & bass mashup that was so loud I had to yell at my husband across the table, "HOW'S YOUR BURGER?!" And the bouncer out front - bless him, but communication skills = 0. He asked if we had a reservation, then gestured for IDs with his hands which my husband understood as whip out your reservation... after my husband is fumbling with his phone and showing the bouncer our reservation, the bouncer THEN clarified, and I felt like I was in some annoying game of charades. As an older born and raised New Yorker, the tough guy bouncer act is TIRED! We've seen it. Move on. Other than that? Food amazing. Service with our waitresses was amazing. And the decor was fire with the vinyls on the wall. Would I go back? Maybe. Especially if next time they swap the techno for some Japanese jazz so I can actually hear my husband without yelling.

We thought mini golf was interactive, everyone had the same chance to play and it's simple enough without exerting too much energy (unlike an escape room or the dancing tiles which I also came across in my research). Great place for friends, families, dates of all ages. We checked in on the ground floor (also have a coat check here) and were told they have a cabin themed course on the 2nd floor and a museum themed course on the 3rd floor, but there was a party going on. They also told us about the rooftop lounge, which is covered with plastic and they have heaters blasting the space. We went with the cabin themed. Although I don't think they completely blocked the 3rd floor with the party, we just didn't want to have to compete with others and wanted a quiet experience. They have stairs or an elevator. Once we got to the 2nd floor, we were the only ones there and were explained how the digital scoring works. We inputted our names, and our scoreboard would follow us from board to board in sequence after we all punched in our scores. The max was 6 putts per course to help keep things moving (we definitely played more than 6 on some courses lol). The courses did progressively get more challenging as you moved on. The decor was beautiful. Fairy lights lined the space with murals or a ski lodge/mountains around with a polar bear and a ski mobile. Many cute photo ops. On the last course, once you made it, the game swallowed your ball, I guess to help prevent you from trying to play the course again. I wish there was more than 9 courses though. It was fun enough but maybe having a few more would have helped fill the time more. Time flew by and we had lots of laughs. Would be excited to come back to try the museum course next time.

I booked a social package that included 90 minutes of reserved seating, one round of mini golf, and a $25 food or drink voucher per person. When we arrived, we were given tickets for mini golf, but the staff seemed unsure about how the food and drink vouchers worked. After some back-and-forth, we learned the vouchers could only be used on the second floor, and if used for drinks, there was only one option available -- a blue rum drink with coconut. Unfortunately, the drink missed the mark for me and my friends, and the recipe could definitely use some improvement. We were also never shown where our reserved seating was, which was disappointing. That said, I had an amazing group of friends, and we still made the night a lot of fun. We played the Lodge course on the second floor, which is their most challenging course and beautifully decorated. I also loved the tablet that kept score for us -- it was a great touch. The rooftop area is another highlight: it's heated and really enjoyable during the winter. Overall, while the atmosphere and mini golf were fun, I wouldn't book a party package again -- it wasn't worth the cost. Next time, I'd just pay for mini golf directly.
