Came here for dinner and the ambience is quite nice. The food is pricey to be expected of NYC prices. However, we were all quite disappointed with our wagyu rib. To start, Wagyu tataki was really good. Super rich, very soft and tender. Easily my favorite dish.  Tuna carpaccio was also good.  The bone marrow was ok. The bread it comes with is super buttery and overpowers the flavor of the bone marrow.   Caccio e pepe was creamy and smooth but not a huge amount. I think probably my 2nd favorite dish. If I ever were to go again would stick with this and few others like the wagyu tataki. The miso cod was very good, very sweet/savory mix, soft and tender.  The Wagyu rib eye was really not great. The Wagyu itself was somewhat soft and tender, not too chewy. This by itself with minimal additional seasoning may have been old  But the fruity sauce if anything took away from the meat. I think this was especially disappointing because it was the most expensive dish, I think close to $100 and it did not deliver. The ambience is nice. It is a duo Italian/Japanese fusion vibe. If you like vibes, this may be for you, but food wise it is ok. read more

Well, I thought I was going to an Italian restaurant. It turns out to be half Italian and half Japanese despite this they are selling an experience. An experience that all people are at the table must engage in. I don't know how you would pull this off for a table of six but certainly it's a challenge to get everybody on the same page and ordering from the same menu for a table of four. Unfortunately, despite overcoming this challenge the restaurant fell well short of delivering the experience it promises. I can honestly say that parts of the evening were stellar. The atmosphere and some aspects of the service showed real potential. However, the main entrées were consistently undersized, with every guest at our table feeling the portions were lacking. The bar was another disappointment. A restaurant positioning itself as a premium dining experience should offer a selection of top-shelf spirits. Instead, many common premium liquors were unavailable, while less familiar brands were stocked. The biggest issue was the service after our entrées. We waited a full hour before dessert was served. About 15 minutes into that wait, we reminded our waiter, who told us he would check on it. He never returned. After waiting even longer, I finally had to walk to the maître d' stand myself to get someone to help us. Only then was dessert finally served. I was also never asked whether I wanted coffee, which was another missed opportunity to complete the meal properly. My impression is that much of the staff is still learning and adjusting to a new restaurant. Early in the evening things seemed to run smoothly, but once the dinner rush was in full swing, the operation appeared to unravel. It seemed the team struggled to manage multiple tables and maintain consistent service. Overall, while there is potential here, the experience fell far below what was advertised. Between the small portions, limited premium liquor selection, lengthy service delays, and lack of attention to basic hospitality details, I would not recommend this restaurant. All the flavors were well-incorporated and it was refreshing, light, and not sweet. Great for sipping! Most of the dishes we got were well-executed but some were just not worth the price (like the Fried Calamari). The standouts were the Tuna & Salmon Tartar (which by the way - the menu says $41 and we were charged $48) and all the Sushi Rolls. My favorite rolls were the Aburi Toro Roll & Salmon Scallop Roll. The Fiori Di Zucca was pillowy, creamy, and delicately battered! I liked the contrast in textures from the crispy exterior to the soft filling, to the rich parmesan cream. Even the Mafalde was good but just a bit too heavy. I completely played myself coming here. Kinda ruined my night for valentines. If you have money to blow just because you're bored, I'd recommend here. I should've know the portion sizes were gonna be smaller than canned food for $35+ each. But what made it worse was with my allergy to eggs, my options were very limited and the chefs were no longer able to make noodles that I was able to eat, forcing me to order something $20 more expensive. Dont get me wrong, the space looked amazing visually and our server was cool but the best part of my experience was the soju and appetizer. The appetizer came with more food than the entree. We traveled from Virginia to celebrate my birthday in New York City and chose this restaurant for my birthday dinner because its Restaurant Week advertisement featured pasta prepared tableside in a cheese wheel. Unfortunately, our experience was nothing like what was advertised. The ambiance was nice, but the service was horrible from the beginning. The first server was rude when we mentioned that we were there for Restaurant Week and asked whether we had made a reservation. We told her that we had, and she walked away and never returned. Another server eventually came over. We asked if we could have some bread, and he said yes, but he never brought it. We were also given a completely different Restaurant Week menu from the $60 menu that had been advertised. When we asked about the cheese-wheel pasta, we were told it was only available on the regular menu. This felt like a bait-and-switch because the tableside cheese-wheel presentation was the main reason we chose this restaurant. The food we received was bland and not filling. To make matters worse, no one informed us that soda refills were not free. We were charged $8 for each refill--a total of $24. I came here expecting a special birthday dinner, but I left hungry, disappointed, and feeling as though we had wasted $199. Between the misleading advertisement, rude and inattentive service, unexpected charges, and bland food, this was an extremely disappointing birthday experience. read more

We had amazing service from Sophiia Ivanna D. She really went above and beyond to ensure we had a great evening. We wanted to do the "KYOTO TO ROMA SIGNATURE" which is a prefixed menu for $98 per person, but it's served by every two people and it was only 5 of us. Once she explained that we said it was okay and would just go a la carte, but she was adamant she would speak to the owner or manager to see if they would make an exception to accommodate our odd number group, and she was successful. The food and drinks were great! They have some really nice cocktails. I don't think we had a bad drink, though they weren't very strong. The food all came out hot and fresh. They were sure to stagger each course/serving so it wouldn't be sitting and we had time to enjoy and savor each dish., especially because we ordered extra items from the a la carte menu. The only dish from the KYOTO TO ROMA SIGNATURE menu that we didn't like was the Jalapeño miso marinated char-grilled baby chicken. First proper meal during my 2 week stay. I was walking around with no particular destination looking for 2 things: 1 a tattoo spot and somewhere to eat before getting a tattoo. The calamari was honestly the best thing we had, and that says a lot good for pictures . I ended up throwing up all of the pasta on the train afterward, which completely ruined the rest of my birthday night. I had a Pulsd voucher for bottomless brunch here ($118 for 2 people) so a friend and I visited on Saturday. The space is huge and the decor is lovely. The amount of food on the brunch menu is generous. You start with 3 appetizers each for the table to share (we had rock shrimp, arancini and bruschetta). You then get a sushi platter, a main course each and dessert. I went for the lobster roll ($10 extra charge) and my friend went for the Benedict for our mains. Unfortunately although there is a lot of food the quality just wasn't there for us. Most of the appetizers were a bust (although the shrimp was nice), the sushi was very average and my friend said that her Benedict was like mush. My lobster roll was good though, and the filling was generous. We did the bottomless brunch and went for the rose. In 90 minutes our drinks were topped up twice, whichever as extremely disappointing for the price. I actually spent 20 minutes with no drink at all (either wine or water) and didn't see a staff member that I could ask for a top up. My final point is the service. Although there staff themselves are very friendly the service is extremely slow. We were there for 2.5 hours in total and never even had dessert as we were full. I hate being rushed for my meal so don't mine slower service, but with the lack of drink top up as well it was just a little disappointing. All in all I don't think I would return. This is in an area where there are a lot of nice spots and I just think I would rather try somewhere else than return here. read more

It was a preset menu besides the entree (which has a good selection) we went with the lobster roll and the truffle pizza which was delicious definitely recommend. We only found out both cost $20 when the bill came. When I tried to order a cup of tea, they were out of every normal tea type. The dual-menu concept was intriguing, but made ordering more stressful than fun. We kept vacillating over what to order and landed on a mix of pasta dishes and Japanese dishes. Once we ordered, the pacing was chaotic. Dishes came out in random order - appetizers after mains, and entrees staggered so much that one person was almost finished before another had even been served. The food itself was unremarkable, and the prices were shocking: $8 for a bowl of plain white rice and $9 for a very average miso soup. The server never came back to check on us after we ordered. The table next to us complained about the same issue. The final straw on service came with the check - we were charged for two cocktails we didn't order, and only noticed after we had already paid. After reading other Yelp reviews, it seems we're not the only ones this has happened to. Between the disorganized service, inflated prices, and questionable billing, I wouldn't return. read more
