Met a work colleague here for lunch. Midway point for us both. Seated right away. Waiter was not super attentive. Food was fresh, but is a bit pricy. My friend was impressed with his breakfast. I wouldn't go out of my way to return.

After studying at the Woodside library yesterday, my partner and I stumbled upon this lovely restaurant. It had this cozy diner vibe with cool trinkets hanging from the ceiling and old-school paintings. My boyfriend went for the $12 clam chowder bowl which was super thick and delicious. He also had a Space IPA in a glass. I got the $8 chili cup with some sweet potato fries. The whole meal was $40. He's all about these comfy, simple spots, not so much the fancy places. The service was top-notch too; they kept our water full and checked on us constantly. Plus, there was plenty of parking, and they're open late, which was perfect since we were there around 8 PM. Definitely a great find!

IMHO Today's visit to Buck's was great! First of all, we made a 3 p.m. reservation, which meant ample parking choices and an almost empty restaurant! We were given a comfy, cushioned booth by a front window for our party of four. We ladies asked for two orders of the Salmon Fish Tacos, $18, one order of the Heirloom Tomato B.L.T., served on soft rosemary focaccia, $18, and one order of the Pastrami Reuben, $18. The sandwiches come with fries, which you can sub out for sweet potato fries or salad for an additional $2, or fruit or onion rings for $3. I loved my BLT. Because the focaccia was soft, I didn't have to fight getting the sandwich in my mouth. It was yummy and delicious. I ate half of my generous portion and brought home the other half for dinner. Next time I hope to return for breakfast! I hear their coffee cake is a must-have!

Large bowl of chile

This is an interesting and very eclectic restaurant! The decor consists of a wide range of interesting items on every wall and hanging from the ceiling. It is worth it just to wander the dining rooms and gawk at the things on display! The service is quick and friendly. The food is very good. This is a great place for an interesting lunch with a friend. I had the large bowl of chili with extra-extra cheese ($12). The chili was tasty and filling. There was a dollop of sour cream on top and also under the chili, which made for a great taste combination. One improvement would be to have less beans and more meat. My wife had the Double Smash Burger ($19), which was extremely thick with meat and very tasty. She also upgraded the fries to Sweet Potato fries ($2 extra), which were worth it. She kept raving over the great taste of her lunch!

I hated it!!!!!! Just kidding. It was fire!!!! Super good Blt and wings!!! Clean plate club!

Awesome restaurant open the fur breakfast lodge dinner in Woodside very busy on weekends with parking available in the lot. It's a real funky place almost a museum of all kinds of different things, including a display of the first Apple Computer, which was kind of cool. A great menu with all of the usual favorites for breakfast lunch and dinner.

Buck's isn't just a restaurant -- it feels like a living piece of old California. After the elegance and quiet beauty of Filoli, Buck's was the perfect contrast: vibrant, eclectic, full of personality, history, and warmth. But what truly made the experience special was the people. The owner, the manager, the waitress -- everyone treated guests with genuine kindness and respect in a way that feels increasingly rare today. Not because someone has a big name, status, or influence. Simply because they are people and customers. That kind of atmosphere can't be faked or designed overnight. It only happens in places built over years by real human connection, conversation, and character.

Short rib hash

My waitress was so kind and helpful. I ordered the short rib hash O my gosh It was absolutely delicious!! Tender, lean ribs, not a bit of fat ! The best brown gravy and soft perfectly roasted potatoes I had an over easy egg on top Spinach was incorporated in the dish and on the bottom was a delicious creamy sauce that took that gravy to the next level !!!! Fantastic!!

Bacon Burger with way overcooked bacon!

Could never understand why restaurants can not make a bacon burger with fresh bacon?? Is it that difficult? Supposedly everything else is cooked from a raw staring point. What's the deal with Bacon?? Specifically asked for fresh not overcooked bacon, not from the morning stack of bacon that has been sitting all day long.

Old AMD silicon wafers

Look, the dining is basic. Go gourmet food here. But the Ambiance!! In a fabulous location in Woodside with the walls filled with Silicon Valley history. Parking is terrible. Service is fine. But you're coming for the VIBE. A Soviet Era spacesuit? An Apple 1? Ancient household appliances? Yes, please. I love the AMD artifacts. Come for the museum, stay for the food.

Oh Bucks, such a landmark in woodside. We've been coming here for years. We had the opportunity to meet the owners a few years ago, and greatly admire their devotion and dedication to this restaurant. The ambiance speaks for itself, it's filled with so so so many amazing souvenirs that will keep you looking around while you dine. The best part, how they've managed to keep everything or clean and organized. The service is always very friendly. The waitress took our order and the food came out fairly quick. The food, not bad. I definitely prefer their dinner menu with the amazing burgers & milkshakes. We came in today for breakfast and it wasn't great. The "world famous coffee cake" just didn't hit the spot. Maybe it needs a sauce? More moist? I'm not sure, but it was not what I was expecting. Overall, we love and will continue to support our local neighborhood restaurant

Cobb Salad

Funny restaurant that's also a museum of odds and ends plastered all over the walls. Had a very respectable Cobb salad for lunch, and fresh brewed iced tea. Great place!

I've been to Buck's quite a few times over the years. I'm finally just getting around to writing a review for them now. I went for breakfast this morning with a couple of friends who were visiting for the weekend from Washington. First off, the decor. So dang cool. Beyond that, one of the employees today (I didn't catch her name) explained some of the history behind it to me. Apparently the big mural on the wall contains depictions within it of both the owners and people who they knew in the Woodside area when Buck's first opened back in the 90's. So cool!!!! I love to learn a little about the history of a place. It adds so much color and life to the place where I'm spending time with people who I (presumably) love. I know there's so much more history to this place... but I'll leave that for another reviewer or another time, because I don't want this review to get too long. Plus I don't know too much more about it yet. Lol! The food was delicious today. I got the "Big Buck", as shown in my picture. Just a delicious, filling, well-rounded all-American breakfast. Two eggs cooked how you like, bacon cuts, a couple pancakes, your choice of toast, and a small cup of fruit. Just good eating there, and I didn't get a big sugar or carbs hangover afterwards, to make the experience even better! If you're looking for coffee or pastries before or after you eat at Buck's, you can go right next door to the Village Bakery & Cafe. You looking for a place that feels like a diner out of the 90's, has an eclectic decor, nice open space, and invites you to hang out with your loved ones and have a good conversation without feeling rushed out the door? Try out Buck's. Best Kyle :)

While the line outside looked intimidating, Alice's system for taking orders before you enter is really efficient. The restaurant is much larger than it looks. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating with heating to keep comfy when it gets a little chilly. Alice's serves both breakfast and lunch/dinner. We were craving burgers, so that is exactly what we ordered. Our food came out within 15-20 minutes. My burger was cooked a tad more medium than medium-rare, though I still wholeheartedly enjoyed it. The bun had lots of structure, and the beef patty was nice and juicy. We did order a side of fries, as the burgers come with potato chips by default. Both sides were tasty. I would gladly come back again to try the rest of their menu!

You drive up a mountain and get good vibes and food without the hassle of actually driving too far to get there. Parking is limited in their parking lot so you may have to park on the streets. Once you're in, you order up front then sit at a table to wait for your food. This is a typical american diner type of place so you can't really go too wrong with most items on the menu. My wife got the redneck benedict and I opted for the corned beef hash and eggs. I like the gravy they drown the redneck benedict in, it's different without being overly salty or heavy. The corned beef hash was also good too though nothing particularly amazing to write home about. All in all, this is a great place for the location and experience and I'm sure if people go riding or frequent the mountains, this is a great stop to make.

However, there is a busser named Miriam whose negative attitude has consistently made the experience less enjoyable. I've noticed her making comments about customers in Spanish on multiple occasions, which comes across as unprofessional and disrespectful. Additionally, she often seems visibly annoyed when customers ask for something, and her body language and attitude make it seem as though helping customers is an inconvenience. I've also noticed her repeatedly grabbing or touching her hair while working, which comes across as unprofessional in a restaurant environment. Her overall demeanor can make customers feel uncomfortable rather than welcomed. It's disappointing because this is otherwise a great restaurant that I would like to continue visiting and recommending to others. Unfortunately, having an employee interact with customers this way can leave a negative impression of the entire establishment. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and addresses these concerns. Customers deserve to feel comfortable, respected, and welcomed, and I hope this restaurant can maintain the positive experience that initially brings people through its doors.

We were seated in the main dining area that has a prix fixe menu but we were also able to order from their ala carte menu. Some people complain that the ambience is outdated and it feels old but we thought the interiors were charming and well maintained. We experienced the Michelin Star charm in service right from the beginning. Our server Justin was thoughtful throughout even though there was a slight glitch in service when he forgot our coffee and tea order. We waited for quite some time and had to remind him about it. He had clearly forgotten about it. The coffee and tea was delicious but we still saw the charge on our check despite his forgetfulness. We felt this wasn't the Michelin Star experience but it was a one off situation so it was water under the bridge. From the prix fixe menu, I chose half a dozen Saint Simon Oysters, their French omlette Forestiere and the chocolate souffle. My husband chose the oysters too and paired them with olive oil poached wild king salmon and farmstead cheeses instead of a dessert. From the ala carte menu, we chose the lobster roll and a dozen more oysters. The oysters were said to arrive all together but we recieved only the prix fixe menu oysters first. Our server fixed that by checking up on us and made sure the next dozen arrived sooner. The first batch of oysters barely had any meat. We were slightly disappointed so our server made sure the next batch that we paid full price from the ala carte menu from were doubled up. We appreciated the effort. Doubled up meat definitely added more flavor and gave us something to rave about. They were briny and delicious! The chef also sent out 2 tiny bites on the house to celebrate guests! They were beef carpaccio bites and my husband enjoyed those a lot! The lobster roll was beautifully buttery but it was missing slaw. I thought there wasn't enough tartness to balance out the creaminess. It was still very good though. The rest of the food was impeccable! The omlette was French and so delicious and delicate! The wild mushrooms tasted out of the world. The thin layer of cheese spread inside the delicate omlette was just buttery beauty! My husband's olive oil poached salmon was just melt in your mouth delicious! The cheeses were specialty and the souffle was best I've ever had! The food reminded us so much of our visit to France last year! We chose 2 mocktails and they were delicious too! The mignardises or the chocolate bon bons were the perfect end to this delicious meal! A special ice cream sandwich for my birthday on the house was much appreciated. I cannot wait to dine here in the future and explore other options from their menu!
