It wasn't until 18 hours later that I was able to get in touch with him. The staff never gave him his personal cell phone, nor did they answer their phones at the facility. Trying to get in touch with anyone there was impossible after MANY MANY attempts. When I did talk to someone I was told "everyone was off due to the holiday". It wasn't until receiving a text the following Monday 1/3/2022 asking to sign admission paperwork for the transfer, I did actually speak to someone for longer than 1 minute. At that time I asked for a update and strongly voice my frustrations. My reply in text was enough to actually receive a phone call from someone. At that time is where I voiced my concerns about the lack of administration, communication, and it being impossible to reach anyone there. Heaven forbid there be an emergency on my end, or on his. I'm almost certain I wouldn't be able to get through, or even receive a call if something happened to him. I will say after voicing my concerns things got slightly better. But that was still after multiple attempts. Today my dad returned back to his initial facility. Upon his arrival the nurses, and wound care did a full evaluation, and documentation on my dad. He has bruising all over both arms (possibly due to blood work, yet he has a picc line), a fungal infection under his arm pits, and groin area, they noticed what looked to be bed sores on his back, bottom, and heels of his feet from not transitioning him, or offloading his weight during his stay. He literally was in bed and the same position for 10 days straight from the sounds of the report I got this evening 1/10/2022. The wound care he was receiving from an amputation was larger upon his return, than it was when he left only ten days earlier. Due to being a covid patient, I was unable to visit, and relied on him answering his phone to get any sort of updates. If your loved one doesn't have a cell phone, do NOT plan on any communication! Make sure it's plugged in and kept charging. AT ALL TIMES! PLEASE if you send a family member here, make sure to be there as much as you possibly can be!!! I'm sure if something did happen you'd never hear about it from anyone. From what I've experienced these last 10 days I wouldn't recommend having anyone stay at Legend Oaks North Austin. Maybe things would have been different if I was able to be there daily. But given him being covid positive no one was able to enter the 300 hall staff included, nor send me to the nurses station phone "because they don't have one in that hall". Keep researching!!!

My resident had surgery and they told no one about it. They also do not pay attention to their residents, they told us that my resident fell off their bed but no they actually slipped on water and went to the hospital. They also lie about doctors visiting and if you have a paid appointment for the salon to get hair dyed, nails done, toes done. They will take the money and not do anything they said they would do. Even after you call them to tell them "hey, I paid for my residents hair and nails to be done" they will say they'll look into it and do nothing about it. Every time I visit my resident, their nails (toes and fingers) are extremely long. We tell them to cut them several times they do NOT. We pay to have them remind my resident to to shower, to wear pads, to brush their hair, brush their teeth. Every time we visited they were filthy, and their room smelt like urine. This has happened for the past year now. They also do not tell you if your resident is out of shampoo or conditioner. My resident was pre diabetic and we had told them they can't have too many sweets. She gained over 50 pounds within the first few months she was there and is now obese and diabetic. This wouldn't have happened if they monitored and paid attention like we've been paying them to do. We complained and tried to get this resolved several times and were nice about it since we don't want them to take it out on our resident. We have wasted so much money that we basically do not have just for them to not do their job. This place is unhygienic and neglectful. Senior living advisers who get PAID to give out recommendations don't even recommend them anymore because they're so bad. Adding to my review because they also failed to notify us that my resident has fallen on multiple occasions and also never mentioned my resident has parkinson's disease which worsens dementia and put my resident on an anti psychotic which by the way WORSENS fall rate. My review was originally magically taken down Isn't that funny?

If nothing appeals, we have the option of ordering something from the "Always Available Menu" which includes such items as grilled chicken or fish, hamburgers, grilled cheese sandwich, etc. We even have vegetarian options which started in response to resident requests. There is a wide variety of activities and exercise programs to keep us busy, interested and healthy. I also appreciate having transportation provided now that I've sold my car. Plenty of cabinet space and drawers. The kitchen also has a large double stainless steel sink and faucet. The wall across from the kitchen has a large closet for storage and also a full size GE washing machine and dryer. The living room has plenty of room for a large recliner, a grandfather clock, a 65 inch Samsung TV and a large double door cabinet where I have my 27 inch iMac computer. Between the recliner and outside wall I also have a 36"x36" pedestal table, where I have a large hammered copper lamp with shade. The two walls forming the corner behind the recliner and grandfather clock, have two large glass windows covered by Venetian blinds. Moving through the lockable door into the bedroom there is room enough for a queen sized bed, and a three drawer cabinet with lamp. The outside wall has a large window covered with Venetian blinds. Sliding double doors lead into a closet with plenty of room for hanging shirts, and with shelves that hold baskets for socks, and underwear. Under the shelf on the right there is room for a large four drawer cabinet where I can store pajamas and a large collection of various shoes. A single sliding door leads into a spacious bathroom, complete with a shower, toilet, and lavatory. There are two spacious cabinets and drawers next to the shower. Another reason I picked this third floor apartment is that it is located next to the fire escape stairs. I never use the elevators because I like the exercise I get walking up and down the stairs. My apartment is also located at the very end of this wing of The Reserve apartment complex. Consequently I don't hear or see any of my neighbors. Thanks for your time and attention. This exposed vulnerable senior residents, many with underlying medical conditions, to serious risk of illness. The staff were not given proper PPE or guidance on usage of PPE The Executive Director is an arrogant rude unprofessional disrespectful clown and a disgusting jerk who treats his staff especially in Assisted living as dirt. The facility supports a diverse schedule of activities - on premises, external field trips and social gatherings. Recently, they have undergone some renovation - carpet replacement, painting, replacement of furniture and artwork. Today, some additional renovation was being done in the lobby floor and the front desk was very helpful in sharing an alternative path. There was a problem with the facility apartment insurance request. I paid and submitted the forms about a month prior to move-in and the first bill over 6 weeks later included a fee for not having insurance. I tried contacting the billing office and requested a call back to get things clarified. This did not happen and the problem was not fixed. I again went to Francine who has been my anchor at the Clairmont to get problems fixed. I finally received approval of the policy on October 17th but I had submitted the information in early August! In addition the bill itself was incorrect. The dinning room food has improved, per my father, but the utensils are still awful! I do wish your administrative staff would try using the forks at the facility and imagine that they have arthritis in their hands as these residents frequently do. My dad does better with most plastic forks than the forks supplied at the Clairmont. Please, this should be an easy upgrade. One thing we really appreciate is the ability to have a pet and to have a fenced "yard" area outside of their apartment. I think this adds a homey feel for many of the residents. Better water access would be a plus for those with outside plants. You have outside waste bins for doggy waste but no plastic bags at the one outside of the building for the last 6 weeks. Your showers do not have safety bars inside of the shower, Since most of the residents at this facility use walkers, canes or wheelchairs, why do you think it unnecessary to have a safety bar inside of the shower? This would be a considerate and wise upgrade for the apartments. Overall, we (the family) really like this facility and the people who live and work there. My Dad is still adjusting......
