First of all I'd like to say that the Clairmont is doing a pretty good job but could do better. I have had trouble with the billing department getting back to me. There was a problem with the facility apartment insurance request. I paid and submitted the forms about a month prior to move-in and the first bill over 6 weeks later included a fee for not having insurance. I tried contacting the billing office and requested a call back to get things clarified. This did not happen and the problem was not fixed. I again went to Francine who has been my anchor at the Clairmont to get problems fixed. I finally received approval of the policy on October 17th but I had submitted the information in early August! In addition the bill itself was incorrect. The dinning room food has improved, per my father, but the utensils are still awful! I do wish your administrative staff would try using the forks at the facility and imagine that they have arthritis in their hands as these residents frequently do. My dad does better with most plastic forks than the forks supplied at the Clairmont. Please, this should be an easy upgrade. One thing we really appreciate is the ability to have a pet and to have a fenced "yard" area outside of their apartment. I think this adds a homey feel for many of the residents. Better water access would be a plus for those with outside plants. You have outside waste bins for doggy waste but no plastic bags at the one outside of the building for the last 6 weeks. Your showers do not have safety bars inside of the shower, Since most of the residents at this facility use walkers, canes or wheelchairs, why do you think it unnecessary to have a safety bar inside of the shower? This would be a considerate and wise upgrade for the apartments. Overall, we (the family) really like this facility and the people who live and work there. My Dad is still adjusting...... read more

Hi, I just wanted to share my email to The Clairmont management regarding the excellent experience of the holiday season. Hi, I just wanted to thank you and all of the staff for making such a wonderful Holiday Season, great Holiday dinners, beautiful decorations and everything else you did to make everyone happy and thankful. We had the most beautiful decorations and the nicest Christmas Tree I have ever seen. You may not realize how much you added to everyone's joyful celebration, but you did. I sent pictures of our decorations to everyone in my family and they loved them too. Most of my family do not live here, but the pictures brought us together. These are the types of things that made me want to come live here. It is because you care, very much, about all of the residents, and we can tell. You don't have to do these things. You do them because you want to and that is what makes them special. This year, if you are looking for volunteers to decorate or anything else for the holidays, please let me know. I would really like to help. It has been many years since I decorated for the holidays. So, if you are looking for a place to live and need a little help from time to time, The Clairmont may be the right place for you. It is the perfect place for me. read more

My mom was really struggling with living alone and was no longer able to drive. We visited many places before deciding on The Clairmont. I cannot say enough about how much her life has changed for the better since moving in. She really enjoys meals and the varied and interesting activities. Diane, the activities director and all the staff are friendly and loving. They keep the place clean and bright. The family always feels welcome. The price was very reasonable given all that is included. We are all so happy she made this move. read more

This is an independent living retirement community for folks on a budget. For a decent price, you get a pretty large apartment and two meals a day, plus housekeeping service and transportation. The building is older and not fancy, but the courtyards are beautiful and green and they seem to be more flexible than most communities about things like pets and smoking. A relative of mine lived here for about a year, and the management changed a couple of times during that period. Some managers were better than others. It's owned by someone out of town, but the managers live on site. The housekeeping was average and needed oversight at my relative's apartment, at least. The food is standard southern fare, decent but nothing spectacular. For most apartments, it's a long walk to the dining room, but a lot of folks with difficulty walking distances ride scooters. If residents need assistance, there is an outside agency that they can hire for an extra charge, or families can provide their own assistance through another means. The residents and staff are friendly, and the place offers a variety of activities such as clubs, games, and church/Bible studies. They have a jukebox playing pretty much constantly in the main area that the residents enjoy. Overall, a fairly laid-back place with some nice folks. read more

The staff at The Clairmont REALLY cares! They treat residents and their families like family! Susan Kinney and the whole team are in the right roles and serve with joy, patience, and smiles on their faces! We just moved my dad in a couple of weeks ago and they have been a tremendous help making this tough transition from his home to independent retirement living much easier on us all! The community is cheery (from Lisa answering the phone "It is a great day at The Clairmont") to the pleasant dining room staff to the maintenance supervisor Don being willing to help get things set up in the apartment. The lunch I tasted when we first visited was great. There are so many fun activities on the schedule that I want to come to visit. One resident, Glaucia, plays marvelous hymns on the piano and the onsite barber is very personable. The courtyard is beautiful and relaxing. Everything is neat, clean, and bright. The common areas always seem to have lots of residents socializing and busy with exercises, playing games, and just conversing. My dad's apartment was updated just before he moved in and the bathroom is huge with a double seat in the shower, fresh paint, and lots of natural light. It makes me so happy that my dad can live in a place where the people (both staff and residents) are kind and outgoing and he cannot simply live but be able to thrive. They even had resident ambassadors come to welcome my dad the first day and escort him to lunch. He hasn't missed a meal and loves that there is a jukebox in one of the common areas so that he can listen to oldies with joy! And we still cannot believe the affordable value for all that is offered for the price! What can I say that amplifies what others have already said? The Clairmont is a wonderful place and a great value for the money charged. Every thing but a phone is included in the monthly rent, which my social security income more than covers. The executive director sets the tone for her employees by example, working many more than the typical 40 hours a week. She does what needs to be done and expects her staff to do the same. I can't recommend this place more than five stars or I would. If you are looking for a place for a loved one, please at least consider The Clairmont. read more

The Clairmont is a wonderful, warm home environment. It is extremely affordable in comparison to the competition yet doesn't appear to be skimping in any way. When I toured the property, residents voluntarily and spontaneously told me how happy they were there and how much my father was going to love it. Sure enough, my father moved there in May 2018 and the experience has been better than I could have imagined. Staff and residents genuinely care about him and each other. He has a lovely recently updated apartment that opens to a green, tree-shaded courtyard. Each unit has a nice covered patio with outdoor storage attached. The residents can even bring their pets! Many rooms allow for a doggie door in the apartment that leads out to a small gated yard. The food is good and meals are a big social occasion with residents arriving early and sitting with friends and chatting. Nice service with cloth napkins and silverware. When residents are unable to come to the meals, they can have them delivered to the rooms. There is a spacious activity area and library, a gym, a movie theater and an on-site salon. There is a doctor that makes house calls every Wednesday and weekly (and more) transport to grocery stores and Walmart. Also other fun activities daily including exercise classes. There are puzzle tables set up in different nooks and we love to stop and join in the puzzle solving. My 10-year-old says he wishes we could live there! With everything the rent includes, this is a steal! I l love the Clairmont and hope my father is there for years to come. read more

I visited the Pavilion at Great Hills and thought it was a beautiful facility. The dining room was very nice and The facility was warm and inviting, and very clean. The rooms were spacious, clean, and well-taken care of. There were lots of activities for the residents. The staff was friendly and attentive. They had a lovely movie room, crafts room, chapel, and game room. Truly the best I have found in Austin. read more

I want to add my appreciation for JERRY and his wife, two of the managers. They go the extra mile to provide superior service to their clients, and do so consistently. My parents moved in several months ago and have been pleased. The Clairmont offers many activities for the residents to participate in. The facility itself is clean and a housekeeping staff cleans each apartment weekly. The management team is on site and seems to work around the clock to ensure the residents are well taken care of. While we have been impressed with all of the managers, Jerry is outstanding! I would highly recommend this retirement community. read more

The management at the Clairmont has had a change over that has been very detrimental to the services and clients. My Dad moved in 2 years ago and really like it. Then the long term managers left, new ones arrived, then they left and so on...... Finally this year corporate sent down a office manager that has driven a lot of the residents out. My Dad received notice that he has to remove his bird feeder since it attracted insects. What? They(office manager) has removed all the puzzle tables and benches in the hallways. The food is awful. I have eaten with my Dad and the food is cold and under cooked. Corporate has raised the rent and the service is gone down. Do not take a love one there!!! read more

I highly recommend The Clairmont. My mom was there for about a year and it was a very good experience for her. Although The Clairmont is an independent living facility there are several organizations that work in the building to provide additional assistance if needed, e.g. Amada can provide aides for help with things like laundry or even help with ADLs, Texas Home Health for any needed nursing care, Dr. Elizabeth Burnell and Nurse Practitioner Jessica Wright for more advanced medical care, and on site dental care. Also each resident has the option of using a personal call button that is a vast improvement over the string pull buttons you will find in most facilities. The staff was very helpful, especially with respect to keeping me informed of any issues that I might not have otherwise been aware of. Overall the experience there is as good as or better than other independent living facilities that you may be considering. read more
