I found Care Renewed online and the reviews were all excellent so I called and Fritzi was in our kitchen in 2 hours to discuss care and had a caregiver for us the same evening. I finally had a good night sleep! The team that worked around the clock to take care of my grandmother was so warm, lovable and competent. I spent many hours there with them. They took care of everything in her home from laundry, cleaning, bathing to just hanging out and listening to her stories. It's nice to be comfortable with caregivers when they start out strangers and now feel like family. We had a previous experience with a home health company so I was reluctant to hire another. The former sent an aide that was sick and asleep when I stopped by. Are you kidding me, this was completely inappropriate - as they inspected our property before coming out and we were not the caregivers employer. We were losing our father and we were in no way financially responsible for this incident nor could we handle this kind of issue while facing the death of our father. I would definitely not recommend this company. I have been a healthcare administrator for over 30 years - and knew the procedures for employee incidents. She took great enjoyment in speaking over me repeatedly, not allowing me to ask questions, not allowing me to question the referral, nor allowing me to question the number of days authorized. I ended up telling her she was fired after 10 minutes of this. Bottom line, if I allowed Capitol Home Health to treat me as they planned, my insurance company only authorized 3 days of treatment. Capitol Home Health wanted to treat me for six to eight weeks. While their contract states that you would only pay what the insurance pays, and wouldn't have to pay a copay beyond that, in this situation the bill would have been catastrophic and would have ended up being a court case.

This is not a review on the care provided but only a review of the property as back in the dark ages (1981) I was a nurse at the old Shepherd Hospital which this hospital replaced several years ago. It's a beautiful, modern facility. It's an unusual configuration for a hospital. Lots of big windows and attractive waiting area. Best of all were the staff at the desk in the second major area I stumbled upon (I was searching for a room number that doesn't exist at this facility!) Included a very young man and a young woman. Very polite and friendly and A+ in term of helping me. When she asked me the name of the patient I was trying to visit and I told her she immediately searched their system and advised no one by that name there. I asked if they were networked with the other facilities in Texas and although they were not -she made a call and was able to locate the patient at their Austin Main Facility. Is that great customer service or what!!! Sadly I failed to get their names but they were part of the team that was working at 2:15 PM at the unit that seemed closest to the ER there. If anyone reads this that may know them please pass along this Kudo!!!! If you have to go to a hospital while you're in the hill country this one is readily accessible. My mom was struggling physically/mentally and would just moan. One caregiver told her to be quiet multiple times. Another one refused to help because she had asked for too much help. One was busy on her phone and didn't bother to put my mom to bed so my mom fell asleep on her recliner. I tried to talk to the person assigned to me for staffing and she didn't answer texts/calls. I cancelled with her because the people that they were sending were so bad, that it was better to have no one. I got no answer till after the weekend and I was told that I needed to give more notice. I explained that I tried to give notice, but that person wasn't answering their phone. They sent one last person out that they claimed was their best and no one had every complained. After that person got my mom to sleep, she turned tv to the station she wanted (in room next to my mom) and then started calling friends on the phone and talking loudly over the tv. Find your own caregivers. Staffing agencies send people that couldn't get jobs on their own.
