Alerted by the nursing home staff the night before that death was imminent, the on-call Sonder nurse made a decision to recommend holding off until the next day for a visit and hadn't remembered to ask about his vital signs. The family asked her to do so. The Sonder nurse later said that they would be around in the morning - which didn't happen. They never came. I found myself alone without any guidance. Yet, I recognize that Sonder delivered excellent care throughout the years, reaching out when called when he was initially in the hospital and later at home. I do believe the care he received helped extend his life as he was only in the nursing home for less than 2 months at the end. They visited regularly - the nursing staff, the chaplain, and CNAs for personal care - and created solid and mindful relationships. Unlike other hospices they didn't push heavy narcotics on you but provided excellent explanations as to how to use these drugs. Thus it is hard to reconcile the excellent care at home and the unfortunate turn of events at his passing. Perhaps what could be improved are communication styles, staff quality and education, or more nurses. In any event, no family should be left alone at the end.

Our Care…read moreteam which consisted of Whitney, RN, and Felicia his CNA, and Siera, our social worker were absolutely the best. It was always a high light in our day when they came to the house. They always made me feel better about the care I was giving and were so sweet in the way they cared for my husband. Whitney was my rock and I feel like she has become a beloved member of our family. I was so relieved when she arrived the day my husband passed. She took all of the stress of the situation onto her shoulders and handled it with the love and attention we needed. I would recommend the care team at Suncrest to anyone needing hospice services. The only issue we had was with the supply person, Melissa. For whatever reason she took a dislike to us and refused to supply food for my husband who was on a feeding tube and had to have special supplements. On several occasions he would have had to go with out food for 2 or 3 days if I had not ordered and purchased food myself. At one point, the food she did send us was clotted and no good. When I reported it and asked that more food be sent, she accused me of leaving the food outside in the heat and again procrastinated on sending the replacement. My husband's care team stepped in and stood up for my husband's needs against this obstacle. I can't say how much I appreciate how Whitney, Felicia, and Siera stood behind my husband and I in this difficult time. They really saved the 5 star review in spite of Melissa's shortcomings.

Suncrest was highly recommended by the stroke rehabilitation hospital my mother was in after her stroke. I can't say enough positive things about Suncrest! Everyone I dealt with, from the registered nurses to the social worker to the chaplain was so kind, competent and professional. They assisted with all of the medical equipment my mother needed at her home, special food (she had a PEG feeding tube in her stomach), and were available 24/7 for any issues or questions. I recommend Suncrest Hospice highly to anyone needing hospice care for a loved one.

From the very beginning, we were met with genuine compassion, dignity, and a level of care that went far beyond our expectations. The entire staff created a peaceful, supportive environment that helped us focus on what truly mattered ,being present with our loved one. I especially want to recognize Augustine Torres, whose care and dedication made an unforgettable impact on us. Augustine exemplifies what it means to truly care for people. He was consistently attentive, incredibly patient, and deeply compassionate in every interaction. No detail was ever overlooked, he anticipated needs before we even had to ask and handled everything with both professionalism and heart. What stood out most was his ability to bring comfort not just to the patient, but to our entire family. He took the time to explain things clearly, offered reassurance when we needed it most, and treated our loved one with the utmost respect and dignity at all times. In such an emotional and overwhelming experience, having someone like Augustine made all the difference. We are beyond grateful for the care we received here, and especially for Augustine Torres. He is truly exceptional at what he does, and this hospice center is fortunate to have someone so dedicated and compassionate on their team.

No one had said anything bad on Google, so I figured we'd go with them. Feyemeh was helping me with the details of preparing for the move. We talked on the phone, texted, and emailed. Day 1 moving my dad into Legacy Oaks was a little rough. Nothing had shown up , including a bed for him to lay in. I got a call from Legacy Oaks that their nurse who was supposed to do an initial check hadn't showed up that afternoon too. Spoiler alert - that was the end of anything negative I can say about Aspen. The issues were understandable too because I had only started working with them a week or so prior to bringing him to town and our arrival date was up in the air literally until we were on the road to Austin. Feyemeh was trying to get it all to align. The next day I got a call from the admitting nurse and manager Jenny. She went to see him late that evening he showed up. She wanted to make sure to get a prompt eye on him. The bed and equipment showed up on day 2. My dad quickly declined after coming to Austin. The nurses communicated often and well regarding his status and what we should do. Their office's proximity did seem to help him receive fairly constant and prompt care. I was with him the Sunday after bringing him to town and showed up when Veronica, another Aspen nurse, arrived to check up on him. She was thorough and gave me a good education in what was happening with him. He was showing signs of dying right then, and about an hour after I arrived, he passed away. As fast as the decision to come to Austin happened he was gone. Other than the few start up issues, Feyemeh, Jenny, and Veronica were always available to help me navigate what was happening and how to deal with it.

They also provided very valuable service covering for the shortcomings of the nursing facility. The H-to-H orderly/attendant Nicolle was amazingly tender and caring as she cleaned my bedridden father daily. I was awed. Keith and Laverne provided top-flight nursing care and were with my family until my dad went out the door to the funeral home. My only disappointment was that I never had contact with the H-to-H physician, but the RNs and LVNs were so competent and aggressive, that it mattered little. When my father was hours from death, they had a nurse, a chaplain, an orderly, and a social worker in the room offering help with whatever we requested. I was bowled over. Heart-to-Heart: my highest recommendation and thanks.

They did not provide the medicines they promised to provide when we needed them. They never sent anyone to be with us while Dad was painfully dying- no support, no help. They did not answer the phone number they gave us- it went to an answering service that didn't return our calls. When Dad was desperately needing the meds they promised, we had to wait until 12:30am for anyone to show up. Even then, they showed up, argued about what what we wanted, finally gave the meds, then left. No help to us or to Dad emotionally in his last hours. We just did it by ourselves. It was awful. They should be shut down.
