I highly recommend not working for this company . They are literally terrible people , they do NOT care about there employees AT ALL. Katie doesn't know how to manage or communicate and Karla is just heartless . If you ever get hurt all she will respond with is okay and ghost you without even checking to see if you are okay they also let people treat the seniors like crap and then keep sending those people back . This company does not care about their employees. It is embarrassing and I do not recommend using their services. The lack of communication and basic human empathy makes this one of the worst places that my partner has ever worked at before. You are required to use your own vehicle and they don't even compensate for gas, while also making you drive long distances. If you experience a life event, they won't even bother contacting you at all. They also do not give their employees time for lunch, just awful. read more

Recently, we had the need to get help for my husband who was recovering from surgery. He was fairly immobile and needed assistance. Our first contact with this company was positive; the person who answered my call was reassuring and responsive. After explaining our needs to her, she sent her boss, an owner, to our home to assess our needs for assistance. They assigned a caretaker to work and we paid in advance for 2 days care. This caretaker arrived on time but wearing no mask (disturbing during the current pandemic); she put a mask on when I asked if she needed a mask, as I had an ample supply on hand. She generally appeared unkempt. She was in our home for less than 15 minutes when she attempted to use the filtered water (r/o) faucet. Sadly, she turned the faucet forcefully and in the opposite direction from how it is supposed to be turned, and continued to force it until it broke. As a result, the lever broke into several pieces. This was clearly misuse and abuse of a perfectly well running faucet. We informed the owner what had happened, sent photos, and asked how she would make this right. She said in writing via an email and in a phone conversation that they would pay for the faucet to be repaired or replaced, if it was not repairable. We tried in every possible way to get the lever to repair the faucet, or the faucet itself, but neither was available. Initially, I gave the owner praise for doing the right thing by agreeing to pay the cost to replace or repair the broken item. However, once the bill was presented, she said she would have to talk to her business partner. This was the first time she mentioned having to get approval from someone else or a business partner. I asked that the co-owner call me so we could talk voice to voice and also asked for a phone number to call him--I received neither. However, via email the co-owner took the position that it was normal wear and tear, no matter what I said about how their employee had turned the faucet on in the wrong direction and continued to force it until it shattered. At one point I even asked them to offer some relief that we could both live with, as we had to replace the broken faucet. Their only offer was to offer additional care services, which by this time (thankfully) my husband was not in need of anymore. However, we still had a broken faucet that needed to be replaced. I sent 2 additional emails to the owners, saying it was my final one(s) before I explored other options. No response to either email--that is until I did give Senior Helpers a negative review when my husband's in home health care physical therapist inquired about our experiences with the services we had used. That did get the (male) owner's attention, and an email accusing me of being unreasonable and insulting. And he said that he was going to respond to me but hadn't been given enough time--here is the timeline. August 22: faucet broken August 24: Call to owner to inform. Pictures sent. August 24-September 2--we attempt to find faucet or part replacement. Neither available. September 2--inform owner that faucet needs to be replaced. September 2: Owner says I should send her a bill and she will send me a check. September 3 and 4: Co-owner (male) now says they will NOT pay for the faucet September 5: I request again that they make a reasonable offer; "one that both parties can live with" September 8, end of business day: last email sent by me saying that I will explore other options open to me. September 8: response by co-owner saying I was unreasonable, insulting, and I should not contact him anymore. And I didn't. My hope in taking the time to write this lengthy review is so others in need of caretaking services can draw their own conclusions about using this service. m flabbergasted at the way Senior Helpers responded to a complaint that I had. My father is a veteran and he was contracted through the VA. The scheduling coordinator failed to provide me with a schedule as she is to do weekly. Then today I receive a call 12 minutes prior to the time the caregiver is to report. Of course anyone receiving short notice would be upset especially if someone displays a nonchalant attitude. I asked the scheduling coordinator, Karla, if she had someone else to send and she said no she did not and went on to say that it wasn't intentional. At this point I did not want to talk to Karla and asked to speak with a manager in a very firm way. Karla decided to hang up in my face. I called back, no answer. I contacted the after hours number to request for a call back from management three separate times in hopes of being able to address the issue with someone else but never received a call back. I emailed the director, Angel, to make her aware of what was going on. Two hours pass by and I still had not heard from anyone so I reached back out to the agency. Finally, spoke with Angel on the phone explaining to her what occurred this morning between Karla and myself. Once I finished, Angel says we'll I spoke to Sharon at the VA and she decided to stop services and refer you to another agency. She also went on to say that I yelled at Karla. I let her know that I was very firm with her but I did not disrespect her or use any profane language. I guess it did not matter what I said being the customer. Keep in mind someone was supposed to arrive at 10:00 AM per the email I received ,but now I was being told services have ceased. I was blown away at this point because I had not received a call back and basically they took the scheduling coordinators word over mine. Not to mention the veteran was left unattended to by Senior Helpers. I've dealt with several companies that provide the same service and I've never had someone to treat us the way we were treated today. No investigation was done, no apology made, just no services rendered to us any longer with no explanation provided. I usually allow companies a chance to make things right, and Senior Helpers failed to do so for whatever reason. I'm extremely disappointed in the way this situation was handled. After speaking further with the social worker from the VA she was told by Angel, director of Senior Helpers, that I cursed out the Scheduling Coordinator, Karla, which is not true. I cannot believe that she lied on me. No investigation was conducted, just her word against mine. The social worker also stated that she did not stop my services but Angel from Senior Helpers discontinued my fathers services. So they not only lied on me, but the social worker as well. I've never in my 36 years of living seen anything like this before. Just all out disrespectful to a Veteran. How can you disrespect someone who served for our country? I've never seen a business that doesn't care about the customers. Just out right disrespectful!! read more

Senior Helpers has been invaluable in caring for our elderly parent with dementia. When we first realized that mom could not live on her own any longer, Senior Helpers provided the support we needed for mom while she was still in an Independent Living apartment, and also later in Assisted Living (where the facility did not provide the "assisted" part of "assisted" living). Moira provided us with more information about my mom's dementia in 15 minutes than anyone else had, including mom's neurologist! She helped us understand how to handle some of the emotional and mental effects of dementia in a positive way. The Senior Helpers employees have been kind, supportive, and helpful during a very chaotic time for us. Mom absolutely loved her caregivers, and so did we! One advantage that we realized was that Mom didn't need to be a parent to her caregivers--she could just hang out and have fun with them. They got her out of her room and doing activities, helped her with tidying up the apartment, and worked with her to exercise her brain in a way that was respectful and maintained mom's dignity. Senior Helpers has a special training program for working with dementia clients and it really works. They gave us great ideas to work with our mom as well. The office staff have gone above and beyond in helping us and working with last-minute issues. We haven't always been the easiest people to work out a schedule with, and they were so patient and did all they could to accommodate us. I can't say enough good things about the service and understanding Senior Helpers provided our loved one. They also were an extra pair of eyes and ears for us, and let us know how mom was doing when we could not be there every day. I recommend them highly. read more

I've had a great experience with this company so far. Everyone has been very helpful and informative as I've tried to get some help for my MIL who is starting to show some signs of dementia. It's a scary time for me but everyone has been really reassuring and nice. read more
