It was around 4:30 and wasn't busy yet. I sat at the bar in front of the giant screen showing a golf tourney (don't mind at all). Derek was one amazing bartender. I had the Clockwork Orange cocktail that had coconut on the rim, with the Burrata starter. Perfection. I asked Derek about the Farmer's Salad and the Green Goddess Salad. One is more fruity and the other is green with peas. Both sounded delicious. I chose the Farmer's with added salmon. I'll get the Goddess next time. I added a glass of the House Red, which is a light Cab. I loved my meal and my visit. It's very pretty and the service was excellent. Can't wait to return. I just read it was voted Best New Restaurant in 614's Best of 2026.

The downstairs was closed when we arrived (Monday evening). Both the downstairs and the upstairs are very spacious with the downstairs having a large bar too. We had a great staff supporting our event - kept our drinks and bellies full. For appetizers we had a beautiful charcuterie board with a great selection of meats, cheeses, fruit, olives, artichokes, hummus and Gluten Free crackers and crostinis that were delicious!! You wouldn't have even known they were gluten free. Also had bacon wrapped dates and baked feta bites. The bacon wrapped dates were so good! For dinner we had chicken piccata, mahi, veggies, strawberry spinach salad, scalloped potatoes and a spaghetti squash dish that was vegetarian and vegan. Very clear signs on allergies that is much appreciated! Dessert we had flourless chocolate cake, mini cheesecakes, and one of my favorites - buckeyes! The space we had was great - mingling area for appetizers, buffet of food in the center of the room that separated the appetizer area and the seated dinner part. Plenty of room. Having a few more high top tables would have been great in the mingling area as holding your beverage and enjoying appetizers can be tricky with no table. Believe we had 40-50 people. I didn't get to take any photos, but a great space for what we needed - lots of windows and lights upstairs as well.

The floor had recently been mopped, would have been nice to have a wet floor sign to warn. They do not serve fountain drinks and charge nearly $3.00 for each 20 oz bottle. That's a bit of a problem for me. I would have expected a better price especially not getting any refills. Also added a nice fee for using a credit card. Another issue for me. My wife and I ordered a meat pizza. They want to charge 0.75 to leave off ham (meat) to sub mushroom (veg). Small problem 3 for me. The pizza itself was good. We enjoyed it and would return if we were doing carry out. For dine in, there are other choices.

The staff is super kind and friendly, our pizzas were taking a little longer so they brought us some cookies. They have some really cool speciality pizzas I'd like to try like a mac&cheese or taco pizza. Subs and pasta options, their spaghetti entree is only $6.95, what a bargain, right? The pizza tasted great with a good crispy and soft touch. Loved the crispy crust and the pizza came out fresh and hot (love hot pizza). The staff checked on us twice which you gotta love that touch, making sure we are pleased with our purchase (I feel like that is a lost art) Come check it out, it's gooooddddd!!

When we pulled into the parking lot, it was clear everyone else had the same idea--place was buzzing with holiday energy. Since we were already there (and since homemade comfort food had been calling my name all morning), we figured we'd sit down for lunch first. Because of the holiday rush, the regular menu wasn't available, so the buffet was the only dine-in option. Honestly? No complaints here. We were seated in the main dining room, close to the buffet--dangerously convenient. There are three buffet stations: the big salad bar in the middle and the hot lines on either side. The salad bar was simple but fresh, with finely chopped lettuce, plenty of dressings, and all the toppings you could want. But let's talk about the hot line because this is where Der Dutchman shines. Fried chicken that's crispy, juicy, and everything comfort food should be. Chicken and noodles that tasted like something grandma would make on a cold day. Honey ham and shredded roast beef that were both tender and flavorful. And of course--the true Midwest essentials--mashed potatoes, stuffing, and green beans. The kind of plate that warms you up before you even take a bite. The buffet is all-you-care-to-eat, and trust me, I cared to eat plenty. My wife and I both kept it simple with water and lemon, and our waitress didn't miss a beat--friendly, efficient, and on top of everything even with the crowd. We left full, happy, and ready to tackle the next mission: pie pickup. And naturally, you can't walk through the Der Dutchman bakery without something extra catching your eye, so a box of donuts came home with us too. Zero regrets. If you're craving true comfort food or want a little taste of Amish-style cooking, Der Dutchman is always worth the trip--holiday rush and all.
