Modernized historic building with a large stage for live music/ open mic night- two bars. The largest TV I've ever seen behind the stage. Thecwaitress told us they bring in Nashville muscians;some that are starting out. The food was amazing! Theur menu is small but poserful. They are connected to Pioneer Pizza who makes theur subs and pizzas plus they smoke their meats on site snd had 3 house sauces on the table. I had the smoked wings. Naked but rubbed with a dry seasoning. The wings fell off the bone and were so flavorable! No sauce was needed. But I tried the three table sauces. Hubs had an italian sub. Heand I agreed it was provably the best italian sub we"ve ever had. I ordered the Grainery salad - it was great because I like Blue Cheese ceuymbles and red onion. Both flavors were strong so avoid it you are not a fan. I ordered the large and feel it was the equivilant of a side salad-kinda small. The Grainery attracted groups if friends, families with yound children and couples out fir a dare night. Highly recommend! Our server was great. I try not to ask "what is your favorite menu item"? Instead ask what is poplular. Our server had a real passion for the food, the history of the building and the Plain City community. This is one of my new favorite spots. The venue is clean and fun to visit. They clearly do live event here from time to time with local live music on weekend. They have an outside space which I have not had the opportunity use yet. The food is great! I tried their flat Stromboli pizza and it was outstanding. Will be going for this alone. Our first visit was not quick service but the server admitted his issue and apologized. Second visit was no service issue at all. Will be returning here often. read more

Started the day at Yutzys market and found this gem on our back to town. Nice outside patio, the tables by the window are warm when the sun is shining at lunch. Very cozy atmosphere. The location and building are both very nice, especially the outdoor patio. The food and service are decent. The music is almost always LOUD, even when it isn't live. Headed there early Saturday night with my some of my family, good looking place inside, appears to be recently renovated. Too cold to use it but a large good looking patio outback. The service started out slow as apparently we had arrived at shift change, lots of servers but no one be came to help us. Finally a server came over and was good for the rest of the night. Wide collection of draft beer as well as custom cocktails. Food is very good. I had the hamburger with brisket chili on top and it was excellent. The rest of the group enjoyed their selections as well. The band was setting up for live music on Saturday night and I hear they have live music on the weekends outside during summer months. My review is for food. Do not go here to eat! Horrible and overpriced! My quesadilla was so small, had barely any cheese and the chicken tasted old. They didn't even butter the outside to fry it, so it was dry and hard as a brick. Never again. It comes with what seem like generic bbq chips that our server said were homemade. If those are homemade...ughh. I would give it 1-2 stars. Service was slow and nothing happened, but they certainly could use training on customer service. Met a friend for lunch, and ran into another here. This has been several different restaurants, and I've been to previous ones at this location. Currently sidewalk and street construction going on; best to park behind the Lovejoy Plaza mall in the free city lot. Nice atmosphere: open front room (and literally open today, with the nice weather, since they have a big movable front window.) Smaller, darker, quieter room in back where we hung out. Plus "the Silo" upstairs, I assume a party room or overflow seating. Excellent service start to finish. My friend got a hangover burger and liked it. Baby K had a kid's mac plus fries. Liked the mac, wasn't into the fries. I thought they were good- battered and crispy. I had a barbacoa sandwich with baked beans and potato salad. The meat was nicely shredded, flavorful with a bit of heat. Too wet for the bun; I ended up using fork and knife. Baked beans were excellent, with chunks of brisket in them. Potato salad had bacon, ranch, etc., and was also excellent. Best BBQ ever? No, but pretty good, and a really good experience on the whole. A little expensive, felt like, for what you get. The Grainery is a decent option when you've got a craving for smoked meats. The Plain City Pile Up is a large baked potato with mac n cheese, butter, cheese, sour cream, jalapeños, and meat of your choosing on top, and I usually order the brisket or shredded chicken. The boneless wings are absolutely huge and hit the spot, and the house made buffalo chicken dip with house made chips is my go-to app. The cheese curds are standard, nothing extra special. Last night, I didn't feel like cooking, so I used Grub Hub to deliver my food and it arrived just as I would have expected with plenty left over for lunch. read more

Great little downtown location. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon and it was packed with large groups of sports families. We were seated right away but it took our waiter over 10 minutes to even acknowledge us. We placed our drink order and it was another long wait. Once most of the drinks arrived we ordered food which was a quick turnaround. The waitress never came back to ask how our meal was or if we needed anything else until we were almost done. The food was meh! The meat on the brisket tacos was very mushy and it was the same for the pulled pork sandwich. Would maybe try again if in the area. Hope for better service. read more

Tried The Grainery for the first time with a group of four--and we were pleasantly surprised! I'll admit, I was hesitant after reading some mixed reviews, but we didn't experience any of the issues others mentioned. Our server was great--friendly, quick with our drink orders, kept checking in, and never let our glasses go empty. Always appreciate that kind of attention! We started with the fried pickle chips and the house-made chips with queso--both came out hot and fresh. The pickle breading actually stayed on (a win in my book), and the queso was creamy and flavorful. For mains: -The chicken tenders and potato wedges were crispy, well-seasoned, and cooked just right. -The club sub was packed--tons of turkey and toppings. -Smoked wings were fall-off-the-bone tender with a nice seasoning. -Pork tacos were fully loaded and super flavorful--ingredients were practically spilling out. I went there last night. It's in a multi business block near the corner. Only street parking in front if you can find some. There's a parking lot behind it where I'm told is public parking, but signs up that say tow zone. Sat on the front patio which is small, but nice. Greeter was a nice girl who ended up serving me as well. I had no issues with her service. I went there to get food. I ordered smoked chicken wings, mashed potatoes and green beans. The mashed potatoes and green beans have been reheated so much that most of the green beans were hard and not edible and the mashed potatoes had a slight crust on them that I had to break through. For as much as these were reheated, it was surprising that they were still lukewarm. I felt like the smoked wings were just OK and, again, not very hot. I had water to drink and it tasted horrible - like it came from a sewage pipe. When I mentioned this to the server, she said they get complaints about the water all the time. The atmosphere and entertainment that they have here sometimes it's good if you just wanna go there for a drink and socializing. read more

The food is beyond disappointing and insulting to the genre of barbecue. Many of the menu items are deep-fried leaving minimal variety, and non deep-fried items lack flavor and seasoning. Sandwiches are effortlessly assembled with a scoop or slab of meat plopped on a bun: no lettuce, tomato or onion. For such low effort food, the prices are unjustified. As for the ambience, it's typical sports bar. The music encourages patrons to leave with deafening hick-pop (county pop). read more

I was blown away by the smoked chicken wings. This seemed like it was competition quality bbq. The baby back ribs were spot on as well. Bbq can be hard to keep moist but the Grainary needs to fiquire this out. The serving size was very small. I'll pay more for additional meat on my sandwich. The food: I had a chicken quesadilla that came with sour cream & salsa to dip it in. Honestly, it was just ok. Plain & not too tasty. My fiancé had pulled pork sandwich w/slaw which she said was excellent. Appetizers were good too; fried pickles and soft pretzel bites. Both came with a dip. Prices: Pretty good. Food was reasonably priced as were our beers. Not cheap, but not expensive either. Service: wonderful! Great staff. Located on the main drag of Plain City, The Grainery seems to be the local watering hole for the town. Although they no longer have ribs on the menu, the first time I was here, I had them and they were some good ribs! If they ever come back on the menu--do try--someone in their kitchen knows how BBQ is done! I've also tried the Plain City Pile Up, which is a loaded baked potato with your choice of meat with all the fixins' including their mac & cheese. Sides of cole slaw and cornbread were bomb as was the baked beans which have a good amount of heat on them. They have pub trivia on Wednesdays and live band music on the weekends. If you're outside the 270, this is a great little BBQ joint to stop by when you're northwest of Columbus. My only beef is that the pickles are sweet--the bread & butter kind. read more
