We had fun first time at this restaurant. As we came for lunch, my husband I ordered the full order of pork nachos. It was plenty for us to share. My son and his girlfriend enjoyed their pork sandwiches. They have a great beer list too. Our server was great and explained the menu and the restaurant when we mentioned it was our first time. They also have a lot of livemusic events. We will be back! read more

Came in to meet up with a friend and watch the games. Food was spectacular; service attentive, 4 games on at once; comfortable locale. read more

Had lunch here after picking apples down the road. I had a protein packed baked potato with brisket which was delicious! Bf had a bigelow bowl with smoked chicken which he must have thought was delicious as he cleared the bowl quickly. Service was good. The place has indoor and outdoor seating and there's a stage inside where there is live music. Nice stop! read more

Modernized historic building with a large stage for live music/ open mic night- two bars. The largest TV I've ever seen behind the stage. Thecwaitress told us they bring in Nashville muscians;some that are starting out. The food was amazing! Theur menu is small but poserful. They are connected to Pioneer Pizza who makes theur subs and pizzas plus they smoke their meats on site snd had 3 house sauces on the table. I had the smoked wings. Naked but rubbed with a dry seasoning. The wings fell off the bone and were so flavorable! No sauce was needed. But I tried the three table sauces. Hubs had an italian sub. Heand I agreed it was provably the best italian sub we"ve ever had. I ordered the Grainery salad - it was great because I like Blue Cheese ceuymbles and red onion. Both flavors were strong so avoid it you are not a fan. I ordered the large and feel it was the equivilant of a side salad-kinda small. The Grainery attracted groups if friends, families with yound children and couples out fir a dare night. Highly recommend! Our server was great. I try not to ask "what is your favorite menu item"? Instead ask what is poplular. Our server had a real passion for the food, the history of the building and the Plain City community. When our meal was over, she directed us to the complimentary soft service ice cream with toppings. Great way to enjoy a touch of sweet after the savory meal! We will return! read more

Nice place!!! Except, the music trivia was a bit loud. We had friends visiting from out of town, so we were hoping to catch up. Food was pretty good and the deal for Taco Tuesday was fab! Andrew really made the night awesome, he was the best server I had in a while. read more

I did a take out experience tonight for some appetizers. I got the pretzel bites, I was surprised it came with queso? Was hoping for a little better cheese. And I also got 12 really good boneless buffalo wings. They were really big, I'd get those again! Only waited about 15 minutes for pick up. This place was packed too!!! Very busy read more

This is one of my new favorite spots. The venue is clean and fun to visit. They clearly do live event here from time to time with local live music on weekend. They have an outside space which I have not had the opportunity use yet. The food is great! I tried their flat Stromboli pizza and it was outstanding. Will be going for this alone. Our first visit was not quick service but the server admitted his issue and apologized. Second visit was no service issue at all. Will be returning here often. read more

Had high hopes this would be good bbq. It was bland & dry. The coleslaw was too sweet, I couldn't eat it. The service was fine.

Started the day at Yutzys market and found this gem on our back to town. Nice outside patio, the tables by the window are warm when the sun is shining at lunch. Very cozy atmosphere. I would love to come back to watch their live music. Server was kind and knowledgeable. I had the wings and Turkey sandwich. Yummy, and very large portions. Good bang for the buck. Looking forward to going back soon. read more

Overall it is pretty good. The first time i went my food was made incorrectly. Small mistake though and was easily fixed. Food was not my favorite, had to have two meals to fill me up. Staff is incredible though. I'd go back because of how great the service was. Employees are really top notch. read more

My review is for food. Do not go here to eat! Horrible and overpriced! My quesadilla was so small, had barely any cheese and the chicken tasted old. They didn't even butter the outside to fry it, so it was dry and hard as a brick. Never again. It comes with what seem like generic bbq chips that our server said were homemade. If those are homemade...ughh. I would give it 1-2 stars. Service was slow and nothing happened, but they certainly could use training on customer service. If you go, only go for drinks and live music. I would say 4-5 stars for that. Not a food fan. Likely a fun place for drinks and music. read more

Headed there early Saturday night with my some of my family, good looking place inside, appears to be recently renovated. Too cold to use it but a large good looking patio outback. The service started out slow as apparently we had arrived at shift change, lots of servers but no one be came to help us. Finally a server came over and was good for the rest of the night. Wide collection of draft beer as well as custom cocktails. Food is very good. I had the hamburger with brisket chili on top and it was excellent. The rest of the group enjoyed their selections as well. The band was setting up for live music on Saturday night and I hear they have live music on the weekends outside during summer months. Definitely a must stop if you are ever in plain city or northwest corner of Cbus read more

Genuinely we have been waiting for over an hour to get our food... seems like they have too many tables for people compared to the staff in the kitchen. IT IS REALLY GETTING RIDICULOUS. No one is getting their food and they have been here for longer than us. Seems understaffed. read more

Stopped by to catch some live music and have some dinner. The wife got the loaded baked potato and I got the brisket chilli and some wings. The potato was good, but the brisket chili and wings were cold. It's also a bit of a challenge to hear the server when the band is playing. read more

4 Indiana girls following one of our favorite bands, Highway Home lead us to a the Grainery in Plain City, OH. We had a great time, enjoyed some amazing food, drinks and hospitality. If you're looking for a drink to explore, don't pass up the Pineapple Martini, wow! Our server, Kyle, took care of us above and beyond our expectations. We're already making plans to see more country artists at The Grainery in the future. read more

The location and building are both very nice, especially the outdoor patio. The food and service are decent. The music is almost always LOUD, even when it isn't live. If that's up your alley, you will probably enjoy The Grainery. If you're into a quieter atmosphere, this is probably not the spot for you. read more

Was there today for pups on the patio! Enjoyed the event so much with my sister! Such a gorgeous venue, clean and new amenities, service was good as well! Located in downtown Plain City the Grainery is a restaurant and bar that we recently discovered while looking for homes in the area. Atmosphere is open, clean and well spaced, not trying to cram a bunch of tables in. Food was excellent, I ordered the Grainery wrap with Mac and cheese. Stuffed with plenty of smoked chicken, M&C was Incredibly smooth and rich. Wife got the grilled club sandwich with wedges, also very good. If you're in the area it's well worth a try! read more

i'm an East Coaster, this place is phenomenal. gonna move out to Ohio for college, and this place is another one stop shop to be at. cheese curds were off the cook. wings were phenomenal too, I forgot who the server was but he was a very chill dude and very informative about the concerts and stuff that have been played. i'd love to come back asap, it's a really nice place with phenomenal food. read more

Met a friend for lunch, and ran into another here. This has been several different restaurants, and I've been to previous ones at this location. Currently sidewalk and street construction going on; best to park behind the Lovejoy Plaza mall in the free city lot. Nice atmosphere: open front room (and literally open today, with the nice weather, since they have a big movable front window.) Smaller, darker, quieter room in back where we hung out. Plus "the Silo" upstairs, I assume a party room or overflow seating. Excellent service start to finish. My friend got a hangover burger and liked it. Baby K had a kid's mac plus fries. Liked the mac, wasn't into the fries. I thought they were good- battered and crispy. I had a barbacoa sandwich with baked beans and potato salad. The meat was nicely shredded, flavorful with a bit of heat. Too wet for the bun; I ended up using fork and knife. Baked beans were excellent, with chunks of brisket in them. Potato salad had bacon, ranch, etc., and was also excellent. Best BBQ ever? No, but pretty good, and a really good experience on the whole. A little expensive, felt like, for what you get. But what isn't nowadays? I'll be back. read more

The Grainery is a decent option when you've got a craving for smoked meats. The Plain City Pile Up is a large baked potato with mac n cheese, butter, cheese, sour cream, jalapeños, and meat of your choosing on top, and I usually order the brisket or shredded chicken. The boneless wings are absolutely huge and hit the spot, and the house made buffalo chicken dip with house made chips is my go-to app. The cheese curds are standard, nothing extra special. Last night, I didn't feel like cooking, so I used Grub Hub to deliver my food and it arrived just as I would have expected with plenty left over for lunch. read more

First time visiting this place last night and it was great! Stacey was our waitress and she had great suggestions, super friendly and accommodating. Great little downtown location. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon and it was packed with large groups of sports families. We were seated right away but it took our waiter over 10 minutes to even acknowledge us. We placed our drink order and it was another long wait. Once most of the drinks arrived we ordered food which was a quick turnaround. The waitress never came back to ask how our meal was or if we needed anything else until we were almost done. The food was meh! The meat on the brisket tacos was very mushy and it was the same for the pulled pork sandwich. Would maybe try again if in the area. Hope for better service. read more

Just adding a quick update...they are expanding and it's going to be great!! My only complaint about The Grainery was that the seating always felt cramped and weird. This is going to add so much space!! Forgot the picture but had the chili last night. It's my favorite thing in the menu! The cornbread at this place is outstanding! read more

Tried The Grainery for the first time with a group of four--and we were pleasantly surprised! I'll admit, I was hesitant after reading some mixed reviews, but we didn't experience any of the issues others mentioned. Our server was great--friendly, quick with our drink orders, kept checking in, and never let our glasses go empty. Always appreciate that kind of attention! We started with the fried pickle chips and the house-made chips with queso--both came out hot and fresh. The pickle breading actually stayed on (a win in my book), and the queso was creamy and flavorful. For mains: -The chicken tenders and potato wedges were crispy, well-seasoned, and cooked just right. -The club sub was packed--tons of turkey and toppings. -Smoked wings were fall-off-the-bone tender with a nice seasoning. -Pork tacos were fully loaded and super flavorful--ingredients were practically spilling out. Everything was hot, portions were generous, and the service was solid the entire time. Definitely glad we gave it a shot--and we'll absolutely be back. read more

Friendly service, fun atmosphere, and good food! The loaded potato was the real deal. Couldn't finish it.

I went there last night. It's in a multi business block near the corner. Only street parking in front if you can find some. There's a parking lot behind it where I'm told is public parking, but signs up that say tow zone. Sat on the front patio which is small, but nice. Greeter was a nice girl who ended up serving me as well. I had no issues with her service. I went there to get food. I ordered smoked chicken wings, mashed potatoes and green beans. The mashed potatoes and green beans have been reheated so much that most of the green beans were hard and not edible and the mashed potatoes had a slight crust on them that I had to break through. For as much as these were reheated, it was surprising that they were still lukewarm. I felt like the smoked wings were just OK and, again, not very hot. I had water to drink and it tasted horrible - like it came from a sewage pipe. When I mentioned this to the server, she said they get complaints about the water all the time. The atmosphere and entertainment that they have here sometimes it's good if you just wanna go there for a drink and socializing. read more

Went here with the hubby last weekend to grab some food and watch a friend's band play. We arrived around 7pm and could only get a table in front of the stage, so we opted to go inside to eat first. We ordered the pretzel bites and our food. I ordered the three brisket tacos while the hubby had a chicken sandwich with fries. The food was good, however, they were very skimpy on the brisket on the tacos. Now I understand they were the smaller tacos, but there was more pico on it than meat. Anywho. We may try them again. read more

The food is beyond disappointing and insulting to the genre of barbecue. Many of the menu items are deep-fried leaving minimal variety, and non deep-fried items lack flavor and seasoning. Sandwiches are effortlessly assembled with a scoop or slab of meat plopped on a bun: no lettuce, tomato or onion. For such low effort food, the prices are unjustified. As for the ambience, it's typical sports bar. The music encourages patrons to leave with deafening hick-pop (county pop). read more

I had a great brisket sandwich called the John Alder about a month ago. Also had the awesome wings. Last night I was served a very dry brisket sandwich. Bbq can be hard to keep moist but the Grainary needs to fiquire this out. The serving size was very small. I'll pay more for additional meat on my sandwich. I would like to see BBQ by the pound as a menu option. read more

I was encouraged by friends to go to the grainery, but live 20 min away in Dublin, so never really made it a priority. Well my son had a bday party in plain city so my wife and I checked it out. I was blown away by the smoked chicken wings. This seemed like it was competition quality bbq. The baby back ribs were spot on as well. Beyond the amazing food, I really liked the family friendly atmosphere with a live band. I feel compelled to now go back at least once a month because those wings have been haunting me since I left. read more

I would say 3 1/2 to 4 stars. Small place but nicely done. Small area up front, inside for live music with a street side patio too. The food: I had a chicken quesadilla that came with sour cream & salsa to dip it in. Honestly, it was just ok. Plain & not too tasty. My fiancé had pulled pork sandwich w/slaw which she said was excellent. Appetizers were good too; fried pickles and soft pretzel bites. Both came with a dip. Prices: Pretty good. Food was reasonably priced as were our beers. Not cheap, but not expensive either. Service: wonderful! Great staff. My final thoughts are that it's a nice place to go to & watch a game or some live music. A little small, but fine. Food is okay, for just something to eat. We might go again sometime. read more
