Years later and it's still terrible. It used to be called "Everything for a Dollar" but then it changed hands and changed name, becoming a lousy dollar store in the process. First of all, hardly anything useful is within a buck or two anymore. You go in and things are like $6. The staff are unhelpful and don't seem to care about anything. It's only really kept alive because it's next to the bus stop and people transferring and wanting something quick to eat or something can pop in and get something. WORST PLACE! EVER! I ABSOLUTLY CANNOT STRESS IT ENOUGH, SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO ELSE WHERE. Staff was unfriendly and treated me like a theift while trying to compare items and prices and also while at till trying to ORGANIZE MY OWN THING OF WHAT I DID AND DID NOT WANT. They would grab things out of my hands... sorry, rip out of my hands to the point of coming over to get my basket and i said i would likw to keep it but they decided that was not ok and ended up scratching me. i wasnt allowed to even grab my phone and list out of the basket myself... This was a huge case of profiling I believe as I have been sceutenized before and am used to it. So much so that I ask when I enter stores if they mind if i keep bag on or leave it at til and will do so without a question. This place would follow me around, couldnt explain my receipt to me properly and what I was over charged for... it was horrible. Would never recommend and will never step a toe inside again. It's pure robbery. Every customer is just a paycheck. Nothing is a buck and I swear they up the price of things that shouldnt even be a buck just to see if us last minute shopper's will be big enough fool's to waste money on it. This place brings back a lot of memories. Back in the old days when I was still a highschool student, I used to come here a lot to shop. Well that time it was a real dollar store. Yes it changed its name a couple times. Not sure if management changed. But one thing that never changed is how crowded the store is. The isles are narrow. People are crammed into the store like a sardine hunting for deals. Line ups are long here and cashiers are slow in ringing purchases in. The chocolate bars here (branded ones of course) are my usually go to if I feel like a KitKat. Maybe once in awhile I might be looking for something random like a nightlight. Also note that anything purchased here has a no refund policy. Yes its final sale. On top don't expect customer service here. read more

One of the more "ghetto" dollar shops out there. Not sure what it is exactly, but this place doesn't have the same lustre as the likes of Dollar Tree or Dollarama. Maybe it's the interior theme. Parking is plentiful in the nice Metropolis parking lot. What I like about this store compared to the competition is that there is a lot more hardware and tools available. For example, this place actually has hammers and mallets. They're obviously not the world's highest quality, but they'll hold together and get the job done. Not bad for $2, when pretty much every other store out there has them for $10. This place is my new go-to store for cheap tools. read more

This store looks like a dump. There is absolutely no organization and every time I've come in here I felt like I was going to trip over something. On top of the disorganization, the staff is not helpful, the selection is minimal, and I can never find what I'm looking for. Mostly I've been here to grab a chocolate bar or two. Dollarama, which is a few minutes walk away, offers a much bigger selection at better prices. PS. Tons and tons to look at. Aisles upon aisles of "stuff". A lot more variety than other dollar stores. But then again, they charge more for their things than other dollars stores. This location used to be "Everything for a dollar", which is essentially the same idea, except this place actually sells more stuffs. Like the other 2 reviews, this place's prices are higher than a traditional dollar store prices, but a lot of their items actually do cost a little less than what most stores would charge. I've been in and out of this store a few times so far and last week, I bought this in-ear earphone for $5. You can definitely tell it's a little on the cheap side, but with this specific earphone, in other stores, you'll likely would've had to pay a buck or two (bad pun intended lol) more. Their bottled soda is also kinda slightly more than what you normally pay at a real dollar store, but it's still much cheaper than a vending machine. They also sell other things, like a small selection of food and snacks, party supplies and all that stuff, and other things you might find at a dollar store, but get this, this specific dollar store even sells USB portable +2000mah battery charger. Like seriously, how often do you see that in a dollar store, fake D.S or not? So basically if you're looking for some bargain hunting for something specific, this place might be worth the look. read more

Nothing really special just a decent sized messy store with bad customer service. They have a good selection of items however some of the pricing is more expensive then typical stores... The service is not the best. A cashier charged me more then the sticker price and claimed "the price is wrong". I had to wait for the manager to come and confirm that the sticker price was correct. read more

Reading glasses are a tad cheaper than Daiso; at $1.50 a pop, you can lose a few here and there of these suckers. This one's a lot bigger than their Richmond one. Great selection and staff. I always drop by whenever I am in the area and need to pick up some necessities and also anything else that catches my eye. It can be crowded here sometimes, and that makes it really hard to move around because the isles are very narrow, but that's really my only complaint. The store employees are great. They are always keeping the shelves stocked, and any time they see a bit of a line up forming, they will hop onto the second register and get things moving again. I usually always pick up drinks from this store because the prices are cheaper than any other place nearby, and they don't charge an additional deposit like most places do; it's already included in the price that you see listed. They also have a good selection of seasonal items. I got a lot of my Halloween decorations from here. read more

I just bought a packing tape $2.25 which was overpriced, bought another one from Dollarama which offers $3 for 4X more the amount. I tried to return, says only exchange- so I picked 2 chocolates that was priced $1.05 each =$2.10 for two which is $0.15 more than what I paid for the tape. But cashier was asking for more money coz price according to her was $1.25 each! The price on the box was selling for $1.05! I was told that its a different product and was wrongly priced. I told the manager that they placed the wrong price so they have to honour it- it was not my fault. She told me rudely that she wont honour it because someone put it in there! I told her that it is her staff who placed the wrong price so she should not blame it on me. She rudely told me that they are NOT the same as other stores who will honour those stuff. And bluntly told me to pay the rest. WHAT A CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Now I called the head office and the complaints department will not even deal with my complaint! This is a store or rather a company that people should stay away from. The head office should do something about this lest they want to lose their customers. This location has the advantage of being inside the mall where traffic is huge. But they should give importance to people who come to their stores, they're the ones who give them income. read more

I actually came here 'cause I was looking for a large NEON poster board that the other dollar store didn't have for a sign during a concert. I won't be coming back. I was yelled at and treated very rudely over a helium balloon error that a new cashier made. Another employee (assuming the manager as she was the one the others went to for help) yelled at the cashier who made the error, the employee who was to inflate the balloons and me! I was stunned by her manners and lack of patience with her colleagues. The employee who filled my balloons was lovely and asked me to please disregard her manager and she would help me if I were to return. I really feel awful for the employees having to work with this manager. Everyone has bad days but this was not good customer service. As a teacher I practice patience on a daily basis but almost considered walking out without my balloons! This occurred on Friday, March 7th around 5pm at the Metrotown location. read more

I would give this 0 stars of I could. Buck Or Two, Metrotown location. Awful people, very rude and unprofessional every time I go in. I had a bad experience the last time but I decided that maybe it was just one person. Today I had a similar experience and decided I will never shop there again. I wanted to buy a pair of sandals for $4. I know they're cheap but the last pair in my size were dirty. So I politely asked the cashier if they had more, explaining these were the last of my size. Pointing out the marks. At first she denied they were even there when it was plain to see on the white background. Then "Just go home and clean it!" She says. There is 0 customer service, they're always super rude. Even another customer says to me, wow, rude. Then she throws the sandals in a bin, though I said I was happy to pay for them but they are dirty and maybe even discount them since I'd have to clean before wearing. I had other things I was buying. They don't treat you like a person, more like a wallet. So then I asked to speak with a manager. Instead of coming to talk to me, they start talking to each other in Filipino. I can't understand and they're laughing. With an unpleasant look on her face, the manager says she won't do anything and had no interest in being helpful. I asked if they had any Customer Service to speak with about the experience. "You can go find it online". They couldn't care less about their customers experience shopping there. Either buy them or don't, next! Left feeling like people no longer treat their customers with respect and that is why I am taking the time to write this review. From now on I will go to the Dollarama instead whenever I need to stock up on cleaning items or whatever. That place is always much cleaner and better organized. It's way easier to find items. As long as you don't converse with the workers at Buck Or Two or need their help to locate an item, all is well. The moment you ask them where anything is, they give you a go find it yourself attitude. With this experience alone they've already lost 3 customers and counting. The other day I was a witness to something disturbing. An older Asian couple was attempting to exchange something but they had very limited English. The cashier did not understand them and really made no attempt to figure out what they needed. She kept yelling at them "Speak English" over and over. A lady walked by and said to the cashier "Not everyone speaks English". The cashier glared back. A caucasian gentleman walked by and snapped back "If you come to this country you better speak English. No one should be here if they cannot speak English. Even if you are a tourist, you better learn the language before you come visit". The cashier thanked him for saying that. Say what? Yet, at the same time the employees were speaking to each other in their own native tongue. I understand it can be frustrating if someone does not speak the language but there is no excuse to be rude especially if you are in the service industry. Other people were standing around watching all this unfold. A little boy asked his mother "Why is that lady getting made at those old people?" What are we teaching our kids? No tolerance for this kind of behaviour. I shop at this store but may have to rethink that. My friends and family will be to be told about how they treat people. read more
