It is jacked up by over 50%, with many doubled of what you pay in the Muji stores in Asia. If you do travel often to Japan or to Asia, it may be better to just shop there. I put my dollar loonie coin token in the slot and the darn key lock wouldn't come out. Luckily it worked on the other cart beside it. They made a huge change in the checkout area where they converted a large portion of the regular registers into a huge self checkout area. Kinda disappointed at this change since i almost never use self checkout. Granted, it was a little late at 9:30pm, but there were no full serve regular registers available at the time. (only if you pay in actual cash, which i didnt have.) The staff person was nice and rung up my items for me after i requested help. Avoid Wal-mart's homemade pastries! Their cherry turnovers were improperly baked making them super hard to bite into. The amount of cherry filling inside was also lacking. I felt i wasted $6. As i was making my way to the parking lot with my items, i got a unpleasant surprise because there was that fight broke out between the security gaurd and some brazen shoplifters. The shoplifters ran into the wrong store door so it didnt open but they still managed to force themselves out eventually. The security guard tried to grab their stolen goods in a epic tug-of-war match and ultimately lost. The shoplifters got away! Kudos to the security gaurd for trying to stop them. It was a 4 vs. 1 tug of war so he was outnumbered. Also kudos for him vigilantly shooing away people that didn't wear a face mask, which was required, during covid19 . On the plus side, I found a good $2 off deal on shampoo. But best of all, I got a great deal on Purex toilet paper, and there were still plenty left. I also brought my son's skates to be sharpened at the same time. Simple enough, right? Apparently not. There was absolutely nobody upstairs in the sports/skate area for a solid 15 minutes while I stood there trying to figure out the process. Eventually I had to go downstairs to customer service. The employee there told me to pay for everything first -- which I did immediately -- and then said SHE would come upstairs to sharpen the skates. So I waited. 20 minutes later, still nobody. My son finally went downstairs to ask what was going on, and her response was: "Oh, nobody came up?" Excuse me? YOU were the one who said you were coming upstairs. She then got on the walkie-talkie to supposedly call someone. Another 15 minutes passed. Still nobody showed up at the sharpening station. The only reason anything finally happened was because I was heading downstairs to complain and happened to run into another employee by chance. I even asked him if he'd received a call to meet me upstairs -- he said no. So in total, after already paying, I waited roughly 40 minutes just trying to get two pairs of skates sharpened. I work hard all day. This was the small window of time I had to do something for my kids, and instead it turned into a complete waste of time because this store is run with staggering incompetence. There was some language barrier as my guests were from India, which I tried to explained to the sales lady as I could tell she was getting impatient with them. As I explained it, she became more upset and said things like "we are in canada, not India", and made us feel like she was doing us a favour by just doing her job. I had to walk away because I was getting upset at the complete lack of civility let alone customer service. I appreciate that we all get impatient or are off some days, but to be snarky with customers isn't right. Fortunately my out of country friends are the easiest and nicest of people, they didn't even notice her behaviour and pleasantly thanked her for her help. Personally I've never seen such poor customer service. Over the years we've sent a lot of business to this store, sending our out of town guests here for sandals but not so sure anymore.
