I always enjoy stopping by Muji when I travel, since there isn't a store in my city. This location in downtown Vancouver is conveniently central, with a spacious layout and well-stocked shelves. A highlight of my visit was watching Jarvis, the robot barista, prepare lattes for customers--it added a fun, modern touch to the experience. On this trip, I picked up a portable eyelash curler (adorable travel size) and a portable stainless steel cutlery set. Great store in a great location, I love the Muji in Vancouver. It's spacious, well-stocked, well-staffed, and they offer a number of personalization services like embroidering clothing, bags, etc. Muji is a complete lifestyle store, with an extensive selection of stationary supplies, clothing, food, tableware, and even furniture. I always like Muji for its simplistic and clean designs. The stationery, storage organizers, clothing and home stuff are great! This time I was there for Jarvis, the robot barista. I was very impressed that it can make a perfect rose latte, including latte art. That was wow! The drink was really good too, even better than some places made by humans. The coffee bar is just for take out, not a cafe which is a pity. I always enjoy having a light meal or snack at Muji cafes tucked inside a corner of the stores in Asia. Hopefully there will be a Muji cafe inside this shop in future. The place is quite big and has almost everything you need or want. I will be back in future for more coffee made by Jarvis. I stopped in at the one of Robson in Vancouver last week, and noticed they now have a barista bot making drinks at their coffee bar! So, of course, I had to order something. *This review is about the quality of their products and not a negative customer service experience* Sometime ago I decided to buy something of good quality to wear. Normally I buy my clothes from H&M but I felt the desire to try something new. I wasn't sure where to buy so I looked on Google and found Muji. The reviews for the nearest store from where I live were awesome, so I had high expectations for the quality of their products and customer service. I went to the store with the idea in mind of checking their products with no obligation to buy. For some hours I tried on some clothes of my liking and finally purchased several pieces. They felt high quality and the store was nice. Before using the chino pants for the second time I washed and dried them. As part of my preparation for the event where I was heading to I decided to iron the pants, some stains appeared over its length. Not so long after they began to show up I decreased the heat level in the iron but they kept on showing. The stains were mostly near the side-stripes area. I also bought two T-shirts, both of which became darker in some areas. I only use detergent and fabric softener to wash my clothes, and the products I use are of good quality so I can't explain why these stains appear. Overall from my own experience I think Muji is overrated for the quality offered in their products for a high price. read more

So we decided to take a stroll before dinner. We ended up in the Muji store close by where we are staying. We decided to go in and I was quite shocked how neat this Muji store is. And after some further browsing, I realized this place is their flagship store. (We got confirmation later by the cashier). I did find some good deals here, as they got more options. During my recent visit, I spent most of my time in the stationary section and was able to pick up a couple pens, a spiral bound sketch book, and an A4 (2 Ring) Binder. I've known about Muji for a while now but didn't really shop there often because I prefer Uniqlo. But this Muji store was the first where I noticed custom embroidering! I went on an absolute crazy shopping spree, embroidering whatever I could find as gifts for my friends and family. I got the tote bags and the face towels as gifts and they were such a hit! I love the customization options. The different fonts, colours, text size, etc! It's a perfect gift. Also, got a hoodie and a shirt with my name on it and I loved how they turned out! And as usual, I love their stationary section and travel section. They have so many useful items. The staff was so wonderful and patient as my order was so big. We triple checked everything and made sure it was perfect before I paid, I also changed my mind a couple of times so it was good we took our time. As you may already know, this is a popular "Brand" from Japan, Muji actually means: No Mark - no brand etc. But it has become a "Brand" of sort! The theme of this line of products focus on simplicity with a Japanese flare. Prices are average to above average, but they do have sales from time to time. MUJI!!! Can we get a MUJI in Hawaii?? It's the perfect city to have one! MUJI is like a combination of Daiso and UNIQLO. A store that sells everything from clothing to household goods to food to many other products. MUJI translates to "no brand, quality goods," and that means, awesome, reasonable prices! It also wants customers to have a "this will do" mindset when purchasing its goods. MUJI's products are in the simplest form with the least amount of processing so everything is as pure, natural, and fresh as possible. I've been to the MUJI in Zhengzhou, China, so I had an idea of what to expect, and it was about the same. There was a huge variety of things. The quality was obviously not the best, the designs were very simple and minimal, and the prices were reasonable. But the products were natural and bare bones. That's the goal. You'll find acceptable things that "will do." We bought several items at really good prices. The staff was friendly and helpful. The store had so many things and very busy with customers who make a huge mess along the way, but it was overall organized and clean. Overall, I really like MUJI and wished there was one where I live. I'm all about finding great deals on products that are very acceptable. I don't need the best or the most expensive, I just need the things that gets the job done at the best price I can find. read more

Ok this Muji is seriously huge compared to the Metrotown one! It even has a coffee bar with some very good coffee for $2. I'm not a huge Muji style fan but my wife got some PJ's which looked very very comfortable. Not cheap but you get what you pay for. Also had a huge toothbrush display which wowed me. The kids were impressed LOL. Nicely laid out store with lifestyle sections making shopping easy. There is a clearance area to the back far right through a narrow entrance which is easy to miss. Not a huge selection and prices are not that knocked down compared to other store clearance areas. As an added bonus, when I got the coffee they gave me a coupon for 10% off which saved way more than the coffee price! Don't think it is everyday but worth a shot if you are shopping on Robson and need some caffeine and a potential deal! read more

This is the epitome of clean, minimalist, Japanese design. Muji carries everything from stationary to underwear to candy and garbage cans. The Robson location is one of the largest locations I have ever been to, and I have been to locations in Istanbul and San Francisco. Prices are not cheap, but they always have sales and the quality is high. I got an Australian down jacket that folds into a pouch here for half price! They weren't like the ones that you would normally get from your local drugstore. They were plain and simple and white. Clean and organized looking. They even have loofas if you need those. If I could describe it one word, it would be "convenience". There's just so many things that you can easily forget to pack in your suitcase with you, and this place has pretty much all that you need. I have been a MUJI aficionado since discovering the store on London Oxford street. And every chance I got, I'd go and pick up some little bottle, or more than happily add to my stationary collection. Pens, those amazing small notepads with the glass smooth paper which held up in my travels to other countries quite well. This MUJI has the stock, but the staff attitude sucks. When I come into your store, I am NOT to be automatically assumed to be a threat or a thief. Yet this is how your staff actions made me feel. I didn't notice it at first, but as I began to browse, I found every single staff person had the "opportunity" to "engage" with me and stand folding nothing, arranging nothing, and clumsily standing where they could "see" me and my hands. It was so obvious, that this was a coordinated effort because of the lack of conversation between me and the staff, (only two out of the 5 or more actually spoke to me). And the fact tht I could hear the conversation in their earpieces when they handed me off to one another. Now the rub is that when I did find what I was looking for, and had a couple of questions, they were nowhere to be found. Don't let this stop you from shopping in MUJI (possible racial profiling) I am not certain. I was well dressed, just not particularly friendly after the constant following. MUJI merchandise is quality and I'd buy many of their items over and over again. Just consider not humiliating and alienating your long time customers with overt surveillance for no good reason. read more

I guess this Muji just opened in Vancouver and it was crowded with people. There were several workers working when I went, busily putting things away, ringing people up and greeting customers. We came in just to check it out, and left with a bunch of candy. I've never seen candy at a Muji before, so I got strawberry marshmallows and cotton candy. Each bag was labeled in English and French, very Canadian!! I was tempted to buy some pens and stamps.... and maybe I'll have to go back. Everything sold here is so simple and inexpensive! From socks to fake plants, stationary to shoes, they have it all! They also had sale items for Boxing Day. My one complaint is that the customers here are kind of rude. I know that isn't really a fault of Muji or its employees, but when you have people laying all over the bean bag chairs like it's their house, it just makes the place a whole lot less classy. That and the phallic drawings on the pads of paper next to the pen testers..... ugh. read more

I am not sure how you categorize this store. They have clothing, home decor, kitchen items, art and school supplies. Oh, it just came to me! A Japanese version of IKEA with clothes and at 1/100 the size and 100x the cost. The most outrageous thing for me, the alarm clock section. The cost $39-$159. For a digital alarm clock! They also have these powerful oil diffusers that are essentially humidifiers. The cost $99 on sale for $139. What did I learn today? Tons of people in the store. I've been a fan of Muji for a decade and have visited their stores in several countries in Asia, North America and Europe. This is the biggest one outside of Asia and the biggest, by far, I've ever seen. It has everything. If you've never experienced Muji, or if you're already a fan, you have to go. This store has a special personalized label area, where you can sit at one of many individual stations and print, emboss, or embroider personalized text onto a variety of clothing and other items. There are large clothing departments for men, women and children. Also there are more home furnishings and housewares than any other Muji I've been to. read more

Nightmarish and surreal customer service experience. I went to the store last year and really liked a dining table set they had on display. I ordered it in September 2018 but was told the chairs were on backorder. The table and stools came quickly (props to the professional and enthusiastic delivery team) but I still don't have the chairs. As months went by, I repeatedly inquired about my order over the phone and did not receive promised call-backs. I went to the store to ask in person and was told there was no information about when the chairs would be restocked. I asked to put my credit card information on file so I wouldn't need to return to the store to arrange the delivery, and someone completed an order slip with my billing and payment information. Over the next few months, I called another couple times. Once, I spoke with a manager and was told they would call me when they had more information. The second time, I spoke with someone who said the store would need to call me back. They were just about to hang up on me before I reminded them I had not identified myself or provided contact information. I then provided it but never received a call back. Last month (7 months after ordering!) I received an email that the chairs were coming into stock. It said I would need to return to the store to pay. I explained that I had already put my billing information on file but was told whoever took my information should not have done that, and I would definitely have to come in person. I went to the store today to arrange delivery and pay in person. Muji didn't provide a receipt, which I thought was weird. When I got home, I had an email from the store saying they hadn't charged me for both chairs! I have to go back yet again. I do not live close to the store. I've asked to speak to somebody at Muji North America about my customer service experience multiple times. The store told me the only thing I can do is submit a "Contact" Google Form on the website. The furniture is really nicely designed, but at this point I feel like I am part of an unethical research study. read more

I was so glad to see Muji coming to Vancouver after shopping there a few times in Asia. Everything is tastefully designed and inexpensive, especially the home and lifestyle stuff, storage, stationery, etc. I'd never tried the clothing before they came to Vancouver and was excited to try some, and while nicely styled and affordable, the sizing isn't great. I mean it's probably great if you're under six feet tall and very slender, however I am 6 feet tall and while not really overweight, not really slender either, and the XL size in their tops just fits me, on the smallish side. I've bought a few items, tshirts and sweatshirts, and if they accidentally get put in the dryer, or even washed in hot water, they will be too small. I'm typically a large when buying western brands. At six feet tall and average build I probably represent a large portion of adult men in North America. XL by Muji standards is not XL by western standards. Please introduce an XXL to your North American market! read more

Yeah the home stuff is cool, but my latest experience there was pretty lame. I wanted to buy a 2 pack of their T-shirt's and all they had was a wall of mediums when I needed large or extra large. No big deal, they'd probably re-stock soon. Still, it's not Asia, you're going to need to stock larger sizes. I asked a sales person when they would re-stock and they had no idea. Then I noticed that they had a few of the size I wanted on hangers. I asked them to take them down and I'd just take those but no dice, they don't sell the display shirts. Say what? They suggested I try the Metrotown location so the next weekend I did. Hallelujah they had the size I wanted so I took them to the counter to pay for them. As I took out my wallet I asked if I could return them to the downtown store if they didn't fit and they said that they don't accept returns. WTF. They suggested I try one of the display shirts on first so I did and It fit great so I bought the 2-pack. When I got the shirts home they fit wildly different from the one I tried on, and not only that, the two in the pack fit differently from one another, with one being an inch and a half longer than the other. Stumbled upon the store. Prices were very reasonable. Some of the quality was questionable, but overall decent for the price for women's clothing. One negative is there are only 3 dressing rooms, The workers allow people to take as many items as they want to try on. Terrible. They even go get different sizes when people ask. If people can only try on 6, then why put the basket outside their door on a ladder with the rest?? Store is clean. Checkout was easy. Store smelled great with the diffusers working. Often sustainably sourced, thoughtfully designed and functional products. I love their natural skincare and durable household products. They are a slow-paced company that keeps product lines around for years, and rarely ever stops carrying something (but they might for your particular store, though). So, it's actually meaningful to invest in a binder system per se, because you can expect to find inserts and replacement parts years later. It's relatively expensive, but worth the investment because they last for years. Plastic bottles that I bough 4 years ago in a Chinese muji are just as sturdy today. One of the few global-scale brands I am happy to support. read more

i recently bought a 2022 Luck Can from Muji for my granddaughter's birthday, she's moving on her own and I though this would be a cute gift to wish her luck in all her endeavours. What a disappointment when she opened the can, there was the little ornament and a pamphlet. It was advertised there would be a discount card included but it wasn't there, we shop at Muji often and was looking forward to a discount. I sent a message to Muji asking for a discount card but their reply was sorry you were disappointed but you're not getting a replacement. It wasn't cheap either, with taxes and shipping it was $31.00! Bad customer service! I won't shop there again, I'm posting all the reviews I can and telling all my friends and family. read more

We wandered in, just for the fun of it. I found some embroidery service that had Canadian exclusive designs. I tried to flag down a salesperson, but she immediately said she was helping a customer without giving anything helpful. That would've been fine. If not for the next series of events. I asked another person for embroidery, and they said a salesperson would come and help us at the embroidery station. 5 minutes later, there was still nobody, so another sales lady tried to call someone over. It turns out the person who was to help us with the first lady I talked to. She said we'd have to pay first and THEN get embroidery. Someone could have told this to us in the first place, instead of making us wait. They wouldn't ship it to us and we'd have to wait 2 days in Vancouver. Yeah, we passed. It didn't help that the security guy was hanging around us for loitering at the embroidery counter. Seriously? The Muji in San Jose, CA is better. read more
