I love this store! There's a wide variety of clothing and accessories lots of local brands you won't be able to find anywhere else. Very transit friendly I discovered it when my friend wanted to find more clothes for the upcoming festivals. It's a great place to find rave pieces if you don't know where to look, if you're struggling to piece together an iconic FVDED outfit, this is the place to be! The employees are incredibly friendly and body positive. It's a safe environment to try different styles and be adventurous. (LGBTQ friendly ‍ too!) I went recently where they had an additional 50% on clearance which was AMAZING. There's a large selection of clearance/sale items which is great! You can easily find items under $15. Price point is highly affordable! I picked up so many pieces that are gorgeous and I love. This place doesn't just have rave clothes, but interesting bondage, body suits, chains, and regular clothes. I found these gorgeous dresses and tops! I never felt pressured to purchase anything and they wanted me to love everything I bought. Sizing is interesting though! I am typically a XS and S however I was able to easily fit into M and L tops! They looked a little more oversized but cute oversized and not baggy oversized. This shop is definitely a gem! Support your local businesses! They don't do refunds but rather store credit or exchanges. Exchanges should be done ASAP as stock does change quite often. read more

Looking for a rainbow outfit to wear to pride? Fuzzy jackets and legwarmers just because? Colourful yoga pants to help you stand out in fitness class? Sexy pasties to go topless without ending up in Instagram jail? This is the place to find it! Love that the store is so queer positive, body positive and not organized by gender, though I'm kinda disappointed at the lack of options for the masculine leaning types. Despite the former "Jean Queen" name, they don't sell anything even remotely resembling jeans or denim. Lots of mesh/fishnets though if you're a fan of that, as well as colourful leggings! Quality of items is iffy at best and will probably fall apart after a couple times through the washer, but that's to be expected as most of them aren't something you'd consider daily wear (hey, who am I to judge, you do you!) If you're looking for alternative wear that's durable enough for daily wear, Deadly Couture would be a better bet. However, I'll give JQ credit for being such a long timer on The Drive, not to mention the owner is super friendly and chill. read more

Eight years of selling clothes and accessories seen The Jean Queen through some major phases of change but it still remains a great place to pick up major deals on women's designs from California and beyond. Whenever I come in here, the plethora of lovely sales women bombards me with 'hello's and 'by the way, we have a sale on jewellery and jeans and this and that' and I always come out the door with a little something for myself. These ladies know how to sell, and they do it without making you feel pressured. There really are some amazing deals here if you take the time to rummage through the racks. JQ is one of those places that I always think I'm going to love. They have fun window displays, very reasonable prices, and lots of unique clothes. The trouble, for me, is the quality - the fabrics are usually *edit* synthetic and feel a bit staticky to me, so although the dresses look great in the window, when you get up close they aren't always what I want touching my skin. The staff are very nice here, and the new location is fine. I preferred the look of the old store - this one is a bit stark and bright with the harsh lighting. There are definitely bargains to be found, and lots of cool clothing items - just not for me. read more

How have I never bought anything in here before?? The name is a bit misleading, as I don't think I saw one pair of jeans anywhere in this store, they sure had a lot of fun clothes though! The Jean Queen has an array of cute work appropriate attire mixed in with little crinolines, stockings and accessories. I found a red sequin shirt for $12! Yes, twelve whole earth dollars! The staff stuck me in the Marie Antoinette changing room which was adorable, and made me feel like a princess. They were very helpful in getting me sizes and I spoke to them about an exchange I have at home, but am still waiting for the receipt on. (It was a gift from a friend for my birthday but was too small.) Even though it has been over a month, they told me not to worry and bring it in for something else. I'm looking forward to my next adventure out to this store, when I will be able to spend more time in that Marie Antoinette changing room! read more

I looked at the website before coming here, and for some reason expected the store to be bigger than it was. Jean Queen has the feel of a thrift store- you're not always going to find what you want (or in your size), but it's fun to hunt around. The accessories here are always super cute, and it's always a place to go for leggings and fun socks. The clothing changes too frequently to come in here expecting to find a dress or whatever. I love to pop in here when I'm shopping on Commercial. It's not too far from the Skytrain, just a block or two north on the left side. They're open all week, they open at 11 (12 on Sunday) so no early bird shopping here! read more

This time I walked past the store on the proper side of the street and was lured in by all the polka dots. Holy cute dresses! Everything from 50's style to skanky as hell. And amazing prices! A salesperson at Change recommended this store when I asked her if they have any tights more interesting than regular fishnet. Jean Queen did have some interesting legwear, but they were more costumey than what I was looking for. I got a cute knit dress for about $20. Yay! I went just before Halloween, and about half the store was costumes. I wonder what the ratio is for the rest of the year. The Jeans percentage is next to none. read more

They have tonnes of cute (very reasonably priced!) stuff, a surprising amount of selection for a fairly small store, and very friendly, helpful, and overall excellent staff. If you're looking for unique styles AND people...this is the place. The owner shops beyond Canada to find pieces you wouldn't find in Vancouver. I thought that was really cool. Most people just order online, but she actually makes the trips herself! They have clothing for both regular and curvy sized women. Not just the "it says XXL, but it really fits like an M" kinda deal. Also thought that was cool, so I've recommended the store to some of my curvier friends. There's always new stuff coming in to keep the variety going, it could be overwhelming to some, but it just means I'll always find something I like...and remember to snag something I want before someone else does. Did I mention totally affordable?? Also lotsa stockings and corsets (again, even in curvy which I think is pretty rare)! It's always a pleasure popping in, even to just say hi. The staff will always greet you and ask if they can help you with anything. I've never felt so chill at a retail store before. They give you space as you wander without forgetting that you're still there. If I'm looking for something specific that day they will pull out some options, and always seem to know what's flattering for different body types- not just their own! It's like they really care about you looking good or something ;) The vibe is also welcoming and fun. I've never seen them discriminate against anybody. This place is cheap and right up my street (well, not literally up my street, but ya know what I mean). Loadsa cool clothing, casual, smart, comfy, sexy, and all at cheap to reasonable prices! Super cute store! I thought it was going to focus more on Jeans but they've got a pretty wide range of styles and even some costume stuff. My daughter needed jeans and at 13 she's pretty particular about what she's looking for. I got momentarily worried when we walked in as there's so much more than jeans here. It was a delightful surprise when we spotted black, skinny jeans with no fancy stitching on the pockets. They were only $39 too and the denim had some good weight so hopefully they'll last too. This Commercial Drive institution carries all of the Drive fashion staples you'd expect - arm and legwarmers, costume tights, corsets, cheap jeans, tutus. They also carry excellent service and a great attitude. I have never ever had a bad experience here, and have NEVER felt ripped off, because the prices seriously lowball what you'd expect anywhere else in the city. Sometimes there are surprise items - like recycled leather utility belts or beaded denim espadrilles. It's worth stopping in every couple weeks, anyway, just for a look-see. If you're interested in high quality classic clothing that'll last years, this is not your spot, but for a pair of striped knitted flip gloves that reach to your elbows that you'll wear til you lose them in February or March, you can't find a better source. read more

The Jean Queen is a great store!! Not only is it extremely affordable, but the stock ranges from crazy corsets, crinolines and stockings, to cute and trendy everyday wear. Everything is always ever changing, new things are put out almost every day. Also There is always a wide selection, of beautifully jewelry, some of it is even shipped from India. Another amazing thing about the Jean Queen is that it has a curvy chicks section, most of the clothing goes up to 3x-4x and the corsets go up to 6x. Most stores with larger clothing is usually ridiculously priced, but not at the jean queen! All of the curvy clothing is priced just the same as the rest of it. So i highly suggest a to pop on by!! The Jean Queen is awesome! It's been down the street from my house for years but I only just discovered it a few months ago when I was Christmas shopping. I'm a Guy & I normally hate going into Ladies' Boutiques but this place was laid out really well, everything looked great and was reasonably priced. I picked up a cute little animal pendant & earrings for my Niece, a nice blouse for My Mom, crazy stockings for my Sister & a super sexy corset for my Girlfriend. They all loved them & it didn't break the bank! Since then I've been there every time I want to get something for one of my girls. And the Clerks there are really helpful too.
