Before visiting, I tried for several weeks to contact the boutique and arrange a visit. I called at different times, left messages with my contact information, and never received a return call. Eventually, someone from the service side advised me to simply come in and provide my information. That is why I arrived without an appointment. I visited shortly after opening on a Monday. I did not have an appointment, so I waited about ten minutes before being let in, which I understood. I explained that I was interested in the GMT-Master II with the blue-and-black bezel and wanted to register my interest. This would have been my first Rolex purchase. I was told it was very popular and would likely involve a long wait, which I understood. I mentioned that I hoped the watch might eventually mark an important career milestone. From there, the interaction was surprisingly brief and impersonal. I was told to scan a QR code and complete the registration form. After I finished registering, the associate explained that I would receive an email confirming I was on a notification list, that there were no guarantees, and then told me to feel free to stop by anytime. That effectively ended the interaction. The entire exchange lasted only a few minutes. My disappointment was not that I could not purchase the watch that day. I understand the demand for certain Rolex models and that registering interest does not guarantee an allocation. What disappointed me was that there was essentially no attempt to get to know me as a prospective customer. I was not asked about my collection, what drew me to that watch, what other models interested me, or whether I wanted to see or try on anything. The contrast was noticeable because I have purchased several watches through the Tudor boutique under the same broader ownership. Those experiences have consistently been warm and personable. That same day I visited Tudor only for a bracelet adjustment. My associate recognized me, asked how I was doing, helped with the fitting, and offered me water or coffee even though I was not there to purchase anything. That level of service is why I have recommended Tudor to others. After leaving Rolex, I received an email asking for feedback. I completed the survey honestly and rated the experience 4 out of 10. To me, 5 represented a neutral experience, and I felt this was one step below that. My comments were factual and focused on customer service, not availability or allocation. About an hour later, I returned with one practical question. My job can make me unavailable on short notice, so I wanted to know what would happen if I were contacted for a watch during one of those periods and whether there was a pickup deadline. The same associate asked for my name again. After I provided it, she immediately told me she had received my feedback and that it was "very helpful." She referenced my feedback repeatedly--at least three times during the brief interaction. She answered my pickup question, but also told me that my helpful feedback would be taken into consideration regarding a future allocation. Because my survey had just been referenced repeatedly and then mentioned in connection with allocation, I left with the impression that my feedback could potentially factor into whether I received a watch in the future. I contacted Bucherer customer service for clarification. Bucherer confirmed in writing that survey responses are not anonymous and are shared with store and upper management. They also clarified that survey feedback, positive or negative, is used for training and is not a factor in product allocations. I appreciate the clarification. However, the wording during my second visit created an impression inconsistent with the allocation policy later explained by customer service. This experience was particularly disappointing because I had hoped this boutique might eventually be where I purchased a meaningful watch associated with an important family milestone. I had planned for a family member to be present when I made the purchase, so the experience surrounding it mattered to me as much as obtaining the watch itself. After this experience, I would rather wait considerably longer and purchase through another authorized dealer where the experience feels appropriate for what the watch is intended to represent. I am not expecting special treatment, immediate access to a desirable watch, or preferential allocation. I simply expected professional, personable customer service and an opportunity to establish a relationship with the retailer. Based on my experience, I would not recommend making a special trip to this location if that type of customer experience is important to you.
