Bubblefish is my go to when getting sushi delivered. Never had a bad roll from them! They are extremely consistent and I think my favorite is the specialty out of control roll. It's so crispy with the fried jalapeno outer layer, but so fresh on the inside. I also love the kani salad.
While on vacation in Philly we had a hankering for sushi and found ourselves at Bubblefish! To start off, the staff were very friendly and the inside of the restaurant is adorable! They were playing studio ghibli films which really tugged in my heart and gave me a big dose of nostalgia. The food was hit or miss. The sushi was very fresh - with one exception. I'm usually a big fan of uni but really did not like Bubblefish's offering. I'm not sure if it was past fresh or just not sourced well, but I can't recommend it. The rest of the sushi was delicious! The shrimp and veggie tempura was especially crisp and delicious. Pro tip: they have Shirley temples!
GREAT dining experience. We came here for Christmas dinner and I could consider coming again next year. The sushi was sooo fresh and flavorful, the service was friendly but not overbearing. We never felt rushed, and the portions were large.
My friend and I went to Bubblefish for Christmas dinner and it was the right choice! We walked in without a reservation and got seated immediately. The menu was extensive - we both got an onigiri (which were huge) and we split a bunch of items - seaweed salad, shrimp tempura, 4 sushi rolls, and the shrimp udon. Ok we might have overdone it because we were soooo full and couldn't finish our sushi which was sad, but everything was sooo good. I definitely want to go back! Oh and we split 2 bottles of soju - white grape and peach which were delicioussssss
Food was good, the service was not. After we were seated they gave us waters but did not come back to get our orders, drinks or otherwise, for almost 30 minutes. The wait for the food was not bad at all, it was just the wait to have an order taken. The food was really good, and reasonably priced. I would order takeout, but I would not sit down to eat here again. The service is what spoiled the experience.
First time dining in, menu looked like it had the typical staple dishes in Asian/ sushi restaurants. The fried rice was done well with just the right amount of seasoning. We enjoyed the sushi rolls- we ordered the spider roll and bubblefish roll from the signature menu. They were both delicious. I would say only comment was that I wish they were cut slightly smaller, as each piece was quite huge and when tried to bite in half, it would fall apart. But loved how tasty they were.
The ambiance of Bubblefish was nice large open window, music playing, dim lighting, they also had a projector with the movie Spirited Away playing. The happy hour they had was alright the prices were cheap but you got what you payed very small portions. I ordered some rolls they tasted very good and I enjoyed them. I ordered a roll with calamari and one with soft shell crab. Though one of my rolls randomly had an awful fishy taste which was honestly concerning. Our waiter was very nice and consistently checking on us. I am not %100 on recommending Bubblefish I would definitely go again and give it a second chance though.
4.5 stars We got tuna princess roll, crabmeat salad onigiri, and Taiwanese salt baked chicken. They were great, but also hard to mess up. Liked the sauce on the onigiri. Portion size for salt baked chicken could've been better. Looked like they upgraded their seating/interior so it looks very modern. Also included photo of chirashi bowl that a friend got. Waiter was attentive. Food was fresh. Overall would go again.
Value wise, one of the best to do it! Ambiance and vibes are decent but food and value wise this is top notch. The salmon bowl comes with so much salmon though they could add more ikura as it was a ikura and salmon bowl but the amount they gave felt like the ikura was just a garnish. Overall quality was good especially for the price so would definitely come again and be a local spot
I wish I could give more stars since we loved the food, but my most recent experience was not great. My partner took me out for a date night and they kept apologizing throughout the meal due to the service. Our server was really nice! But, we were constantly forgotten. Our drinks took a long time to come out, it took a long time for us to order, and they brought out my partners food 15 minutes before they brought out my sushi. They tried to wait for my food to eat, but I didn't want their ramen to go cold so we sadly ate at separate times. All the food was yummy tho! But the insanely slow service and having to flag our server down multiple times was upsetting. the food did not make up for it. It's not often my partner and I can fully treat each other to nice dates, so I feel terrible that they spent so much money on this subpar experience. Maybe I'll get takeout from them, but it was definitely my last time dining in.
Craving for sushi and found this place. A cute spot to have sushi night date with your couple. So many options for delicious sushi. The vibe is cozy and the service was quick and friendly.
I've been going to this place for almost six years and it never seems to fail me. From the sushi, sewers, and chicken wings - it's all so good. There's a lot of sushi variety but food options for non sushi lovers such as ramen also! I cracked the code on when to go to this place and it'll be 2:50 pm. Lunch time ends at 3 and happy hour starts at 3 pm. Order lunch menu when you sit down and then order from the happy hour menu after you get your lunch dishes! Both menu hehehe.
Went for dinner on a weekend and there was no wait. Fast service and the food was amazing. Very fresh sushi. Also got a katsu don and the chicken was nicely fried. Didn't get to try their drinks but will definitely come back. They also have an amazing lunch menu.
My mind wasn't blown from this place. The food and the drinks are very different/creative from most places I've been, however, the taste just wasn't there for me. Salmon Sushi Burger - presentation was amazing. It really wowed me when it came out. The rice burger was actually pretty good. The whole thing itself wasn't really balanced. Too much sauce and not enough meats. I tasted more of the bacon itself rather than the salmon. Taiwanese Salt Baked Chicken - these were pretty amazing. Wasn't overly battered and the flavoring was perfect. Crabmeat Salad Onigiri - My kids enjoyed this the best. The amount of sauce mixed the the crab meat came to a really nice blend. We ordered 2 rolls (Out of Control and Marilyn Monroll) - They were both SO SWEET! I could not finish them. And the one with cream cheese had way too much cream cheese. Drinks were OK. I had the three Musketeers and to me, I wish it was a bit less milky. read more
Whenever I am craving for sushi and near Chinatown, this restaurant is my go to spot. I definitely recommend the Salmon burger and the Marilyn Monroll if you want to try something different and be WOW. I love the Marilyn Monroll as it always come out so tasty and delicious. The salmon burger is also really good, but I would recommend to share it if you have a small stomach like mine. The sashimi here are okay, not the best but they are decent. The drink menu looks so tempting with so many options, and I loved my guava green tea here. I have visited this place for a couple times, and the food is always consistently good. The server is also nice. Definitely worth to try if you want sushi and happen to be in Chinatown. read more
My girl called me out to get bubble tea and I decided to tag along. But I also haven't eaten- so I decided to go to bubble fish. A combination of the two! I've been here before when it first opened and i remember enjoying it, but I ordered a guava banana milkshake. And I was so happy to read that all their milkshakes were using Lactaid. Ya girl cannot have dairy. And it was so delicious. I wish they had a bubble tea trick or a place for their drinks because i wanted another. The size of the cup was fairly large too. We also ordered uni and oysters. The oysters were delicious and the taste was so flavorful. The uni (my friend ordered - I don't normally eat it) and she enjoyed it as well. We got sushi, but my only issue was that I didn't like what i ordered. But the drinks made up for it. read more

Located in the Chinatown part of the city, I was expecting a bit more but aside from the food along with the restaurant looking aesthetically pleasant, the taste and substance of our meal was pretty underwhelming. The appetizers including the takoyaki, fried calamari and baked chicken did not have any strong flavors to it and the thing that stood out most about these were just the fried texture giving it a decent crunch. The rolls did not taste very fresh and did it feel like the flavors came together for either roll we got. This is a decent place for a quick lunch bite with average service but it doesn't stand out from other Japanese restaurants. read more

My friend and I came to Bubblefish on a Saturday around 5:15pm for an early dinner, and we were seated right away. I ordered the Lavender Oolong Milk Tea, and my friend got the Rose Milk Tea with Strawberry Jelly. Both teas were huge and absolutely delicious! To eat, I got the Green Peace Roll (sweet potato tempura, asparagus, cucumber, mango, topped with sliced avocado and mango puree) which was amazing. My friend got the Chicken Teriyaki Bubblefish Box. The box came with a California Roll, shrimp tempura, vegetable tempura, sautéed vegetables, and rice. The box is such a great deal - you get an incredible amount of food for only $12.95. I definitely plan to come back and try some of the other teas from the massive tea menu. read more

Amazing sashimi platter in the heart of Chinatown. I landed late and walked from the hotel and absolutely loved it ~ fresh fish and a great local spot. Not crowded and very interested in pleasing their patrons. This is nothing fancy but just delicious fish for a decent price. One star less for a meh ambiance but I was happy with it anyway! read more
My office is in the Chinatown District, so I have passed by Bubblefish many times and when I do-they always have many patrons during lunch and dinner times. So, I decided today is the day! A friend asked me out for lunch & we decided on Bubblefish! This was a good decision because the food was fresh and delicious! We ordered the Calamari; Mango & Shrimp Tempura rolls; Taiwanese Salt Chicken & Hawaiian Passion Smoothie. Let's discuss the good 1st-the rolls and chicken were 'Amazing'!! The Hawaiian Passion Smoothie was light & refreshing. Now, the bad: The Calamari tasted and looked as it was previously frozen-under seasoned-took a few bites and pushed that away. Service: A bit slow during lunch! If you have a tight hour for lunch-you may cut it close-come for dinner!! Lol Tip: They are a BYOB establishment -so come prepared-if I did could've had a nice boozy lunch-guess it was better that I wasn't aware! Ha! read more

Every time I say the phrase "sushi burger" to anyone who has never heard of it, 99% of the time, their reaction would be "oh my gosh, that sounds goooooood!" You will find it here, at Bubblefish. I have taken different friends and my mom here to try the sushi burger, and they all seem to rate it 9 out of 10 delicious. I too, love it, of its intense flavor, the healthy yet yummy ingredients, as well as its unique presentation. Of course Bubblefish has more to offer. I have recently tried their Veal with black pepper sauce -- meaty and deliciously sweet, and the Soy ramen (tasty soup and tender pork!) . They also specializes in different bubble tea, tea, and desserts. Seems to be a good place to have afternoon tea with friends! read more
I went to bubblefish for the first time for dinner and enjoyed it but had a few issues with how they make their sushi. The first major positive is that they are BYOB and they sell bubble tea in many different flavors. I ordered the maki combo platter and the Godzilla roll. It was a TON of food. They have really big portions for a good price and for a sushi place. I just really don't like how they cut and mix up their fish into a paste. They don't keep their fish as slices inside their rolls, which I think affects the taste. Either way, I'll probably order the sashimi next time to get sliced fish. read more
I've been getting delivery from Bubblefish for a while now but finally made it in to the restaurant! It's a beautifully decorated restaurant and very clean. The service initially was slow and it took a while to get water. However, I think there was a miscommunication with the waiters and once figured out, it was great service. We started with the takoyaki which is much better in the restaurant vs. delivery. We also had edamame which was slightly undercooked and had a little too much salt. The star of our meal was the sushi rolls. We tried their signature rolls which were HUGE. Definitely pricy, but it was difficult to finish because of how much they give you. We ordered the Bubblefish Roll, Angry Dragon Roll, Marilyn Monroll and Mars Roll. The Marilyn Monroll and Mars Roll were my favorites! The Mars Roll is so pretty and has gold flakes on it! All of the sushi was incredibly fresh. If I'm in the area and craving sushi I would definitely go here but their delivery is so convenient! read more

Got: Cold grass jelly with 3 toppings Price: $6 or $7 for the jelly, $6 for the eel roll, standard Value: Average value for trendy sushi place I missed my Megabus on my way to NY. It was pouring and my friend and I needed shelter from the rain. Soo we stumbled into this place expecting to sit down, order something real quick just so we could make use of the roof over our heads, and use the restroom. The service was quick and attentive. Not overly crowded (2:30pm Saturday). Nice ambiance and decoration. Can definitely see this place as a date spot. The eel roll came out quickly and was pretty standard rolls. 8 pieces for about $7. Not complaining, pretty good. The grass jelly took a little longer but came out in a heaping bowl and my choice of 3 toppings (included): boba, taro, and aloe jelly. They didn't give condensed milk which was totally fine bc I would've skipped on it anyways. Overall, nicely decorated "date quality" sushi place that has boba, ramen, desserts, and other Asian goodies. read more
Chinatown Philadelphia, born and raised Drinking Boba was how I spent most of my days OK I can't back that up. I'll save the rest for a 5 star review. Better than Bubbafish, which is the nickname of the shrimp caught by Bubba in the movie Forrest Gump. Only cast and crew know this, and of course, I'm both (tosses hair). So at first, I was absolutely delighted that they have black sugar milk tea here... but a little bit less delighted with the actual product. It was a lacking in something. It didn't taste like brown or black sugar. I was disser-pointed, both with the drink and my spelling. The service was okay. They're a big, lavish, busy place with a lot of fancy ish sit-down dining going on. It looks like it would be a nice place for a date night. But certainly the bubble teas are not too cheap, especially considering the unusual and troubling fact that they only sell large. Despite the excellent selection I wasn't thrilled with the one that I got. Black sugar AKA brown sugar AKA Okinawa is my addiction so I've had way too many of them to count. A lot of places do make them well but a lot of places don't, and this is the latter. At least they make them and for that I will give four stars. They also have super cute huge fish swimming around in a huge tank, but that makes me kind of sad, as beautiful as they are. Best Sushi and best oysters I have ever had!! I found this spot when shopping downtown and I am so glad to have dined here! Let me just say first, the sushi rolls and oysters are a WORK OF ART! The chefs truly are on another level. The service was kind, inviting, prompt and accommodating. And the restroom were well kept and clean. Everything we ordered was delicious: Spicy garlic edamame, angry dragon roll, another roll with tempura shrimp (can't remember the name-sorry), oysters. You will not be disappointed! In fact you will be delighted! I wish I would have tried the beverages, they lied really cool and tasty! read more

My friend and I were craving sushi and this was my first time at Bubblefish. We ordered the Marilyn Monroll, Eel Avocado & Chicken Tempura Onigiri, and Takoyaki. I absolutely loved all the food but the Takoyaki was hands down the most delicious! They're also open for indoor dining now which is an added plus! read more
I may have just found my new favorite sushi spot (and favorite spot in general)!! They have an extensive drinks menu and sushi menu but also so so much more. Here's the breakdown of the belly-busting dinner my partner and I devoured: ALMOND SESAME MILK TEA: The sweet scent of almond and nutty taste of sesame swept me up to the milk tea heavens. TAIWANESE FRIED CHICKEN: Fried perfectly to create Taiwan's iconic crispy yet light batter. The drunk food you didn't know you needed. BEEF/LAMB SKEWERS: Pure meaty goodness with a spicy kick at the end. TAKOYAKI: The thin crispy outside perfectly contained the creamy, fishy batter. Bonus points for the bonito flakes dancing on top. EEL & AVO ONIGIRI: Seaweed was a bit stale and tough to eat, but overall pretty good. NINJA OYSTER ROLL: Whatever mad scientist came up with this monster combination was onto something. MARILYN MONROLL: The torched tuna had a unique smokey flavor, definitely a new experience for sushi. Bonus points for puns. read more

Ordered four different favors of origiri for delivery. When I got it I was shocked by the fact that they boxed everything together. How am I supposed to know which is which? This is so stupid I have to cut all of it to see what is in the middle so I know which are mine and which are my co-worker. I usually got my origiri from other place and it come with their own package and have the name on it. If they don't have this kind of package at least they so have separately box each of them and write what is the favor on the box. 打包的人是个傻比 read more

Got the spicy maki combo. ABSOLUTELY delicious and came with a spicy mayo sauce. 8 pieces in a roll - spicy tuna, spicy crab and spicy salmon. All smooth and delicious. Got it delivered and fees weren't bad. Will definitely order again! read more
I LOVE SUSHI. MY DREAM = EAT SUSHI EVERYDAY. This place made me love sushi even more! I am very suspicious of sushi places in Philly, since I'm from LA and my mom made me very good homemade sushi. But I am impressed. This is my go-to sushi place in the city, it is best tasting and price worthy! I can't really review any other dishes since I've only tried their sushi and sashimi.. but sushi and sashimi are hands down the best in the city! read more

We came here to eat after checking out the 2020 flower show and don't regret it at all. We normally pass by the restaurant but after tonight's visit we will be coming back. The decor was chic and clean. I enjoyed the style of the restaurant. All the servers were well versed in the menu, polite, and efficient. Everyone is well trained in their job. The sea foam froth green tea drink was made super fast and was super! You can taste the tea so strongly, I love it so much. We had two beef skewers for an appetizer, but it was too chewy so next time we'll try the chicken skewers. The Sashimi Heaven was SO worth the money. For $24 I received a literal boat of sashimi that came in 3 pieces per fish. The taste was phenomenal as well! Totally insta worthy and definitely highly recommended for any sashimi lover. The beef curry came with stir fry veggies that ended up being my favorite part of the meal. What a surprise! I really don't enjoy how chewy the beef, so if you're ordering this get the shrimp! read more

Used to be one of my favorite places for sushi but has fallen off. Food was not fresh tasting and took over an hour and half to be delivered (15 minute drive tops). Tuna princess roll was 90% rice, I have ordered plenty of times and know what it should look and taste like and this is not it :( read more
Delicious sushi at a very affordable price point. Both the Monster Roll and the Mars Roll were very good! My only critique was service was a little bit slow on the busy Friday night I was there. Other than that, it was a tasty experience. read more

It's my 3rd time going there, at first it was recommended by a friend. Bubble tea manu's big comparing to other restaurants that offer"bubble tea" everytime I go I get the shush and bubble tea, awesome combination! One thing to complain is the glass for the hot tea isn't always clean(just some white spot),doesn't bother me but some people find it gross. read more
Absolutely love Bubblefish. Especially their late night hours. Service is extremely friendly, especially the cashier at the counter. She definitely went out of her way to assist me and hubby. Hubby was craving for Onigiri. Since we park right outside of Bubblefish, why not. I desperately want to try their famous Sushi Burger, so I got it tonight. Hubby got one Phoenix Shrimp Onigiri and two Crabmeat Salad Onigiri. He dog all three out the moment we got home lol. For me, the Sushi Burger was big, like I got to take two bites, to take some off the burger. I don't like fish, but I definitely wouldn't mind to eat Sushi Burger again:) It was that delicious, Yum!! read more
