Bubblefish is my go to when getting sushi delivered. Never had a bad roll from them! They are extremely consistent and I think my favorite is the specialty out of control roll. It's so crispy with the fried jalapeno outer layer, but so fresh on the inside. I also love the kani salad.
While on vacation in Philly we had a hankering for sushi and found ourselves at Bubblefish! To start off, the staff were very friendly and the inside of the restaurant is adorable! They were playing studio ghibli films which really tugged in my heart and gave me a big dose of nostalgia. The food was hit or miss. The sushi was very fresh - with one exception. I'm usually a big fan of uni but really did not like Bubblefish's offering. I'm not sure if it was past fresh or just not sourced well, but I can't recommend it. The rest of the sushi was delicious! The shrimp and veggie tempura was especially crisp and delicious. Pro tip: they have Shirley temples!
GREAT dining experience. We came here for Christmas dinner and I could consider coming again next year. The sushi was sooo fresh and flavorful, the service was friendly but not overbearing. We never felt rushed, and the portions were large.
My friend and I went to Bubblefish for Christmas dinner and it was the right choice! We walked in without a reservation and got seated immediately. The menu was extensive - we both got an onigiri (which were huge) and we split a bunch of items - seaweed salad, shrimp tempura, 4 sushi rolls, and the shrimp udon. Ok we might have overdone it because we were soooo full and couldn't finish our sushi which was sad, but everything was sooo good. I definitely want to go back! Oh and we split 2 bottles of soju - white grape and peach which were delicioussssss
Food was good, the service was not. After we were seated they gave us waters but did not come back to get our orders, drinks or otherwise, for almost 30 minutes. The wait for the food was not bad at all, it was just the wait to have an order taken. The food was really good, and reasonably priced. I would order takeout, but I would not sit down to eat here again. The service is what spoiled the experience.
First time dining in, menu looked like it had the typical staple dishes in Asian/ sushi restaurants. The fried rice was done well with just the right amount of seasoning. We enjoyed the sushi rolls- we ordered the spider roll and bubblefish roll from the signature menu. They were both delicious. I would say only comment was that I wish they were cut slightly smaller, as each piece was quite huge and when tried to bite in half, it would fall apart. But loved how tasty they were.
The ambiance of Bubblefish was nice large open window, music playing, dim lighting, they also had a projector with the movie Spirited Away playing. The happy hour they had was alright the prices were cheap but you got what you payed very small portions. I ordered some rolls they tasted very good and I enjoyed them. I ordered a roll with calamari and one with soft shell crab. Though one of my rolls randomly had an awful fishy taste which was honestly concerning. Our waiter was very nice and consistently checking on us. I am not %100 on recommending Bubblefish I would definitely go again and give it a second chance though.
4.5 stars We got tuna princess roll, crabmeat salad onigiri, and Taiwanese salt baked chicken. They were great, but also hard to mess up. Liked the sauce on the onigiri. Portion size for salt baked chicken could've been better. Looked like they upgraded their seating/interior so it looks very modern. Also included photo of chirashi bowl that a friend got. Waiter was attentive. Food was fresh. Overall would go again.
Value wise, one of the best to do it! Ambiance and vibes are decent but food and value wise this is top notch. The salmon bowl comes with so much salmon though they could add more ikura as it was a ikura and salmon bowl but the amount they gave felt like the ikura was just a garnish. Overall quality was good especially for the price so would definitely come again and be a local spot
I wish I could give more stars since we loved the food, but my most recent experience was not great. My partner took me out for a date night and they kept apologizing throughout the meal due to the service. Our server was really nice! But, we were constantly forgotten. Our drinks took a long time to come out, it took a long time for us to order, and they brought out my partners food 15 minutes before they brought out my sushi. They tried to wait for my food to eat, but I didn't want their ramen to go cold so we sadly ate at separate times. All the food was yummy tho! But the insanely slow service and having to flag our server down multiple times was upsetting. the food did not make up for it. It's not often my partner and I can fully treat each other to nice dates, so I feel terrible that they spent so much money on this subpar experience. Maybe I'll get takeout from them, but it was definitely my last time dining in.
Craving for sushi and found this place. A cute spot to have sushi night date with your couple. So many options for delicious sushi. The vibe is cozy and the service was quick and friendly.
I've been going to this place for almost six years and it never seems to fail me. From the sushi, sewers, and chicken wings - it's all so good. There's a lot of sushi variety but food options for non sushi lovers such as ramen also! I cracked the code on when to go to this place and it'll be 2:50 pm. Lunch time ends at 3 and happy hour starts at 3 pm. Order lunch menu when you sit down and then order from the happy hour menu after you get your lunch dishes! Both menu hehehe.
Went for dinner on a weekend and there was no wait. Fast service and the food was amazing. Very fresh sushi. Also got a katsu don and the chicken was nicely fried. Didn't get to try their drinks but will definitely come back. They also have an amazing lunch menu.
In Chinatown, there are probably dozens of restaurants that serve amazing Asian food, so we chose Bubblefish solely on the Yelp reviews. Did. Not. Disappoint. The service was quick and the staff was friendly. The food was amazing. The broth for the ramen was rich and delicious. The sushi was outstanding Like I said, probably a lot of really good choices. Just know, Bubblefish is one of those really good choices if you're eating in this area. read more
We had a very nice experience today dining at bubble fish in Philadelphia! The vibe was super cool and the restaurant, lounge and bar areas were all neat and clean and so nicely decorated. The music was perfect volume, bathrooms for neat and clean, and the seating arrangements were spacious and well laid out. Loved how the front area had two big open window seats and from your seats you can sit and watch a sushi being prepared. Our waiter was excellent, he was fast and efficient, very friendly and helpful. We had asked to move to a different section and he was very understanding and helpful. Our food selections had large portions and very delicious. We tried the shrimp pan fried udon, vegetable fried rice and two regular size handmade sushi rolls. All dishes were delicious and we would highly recommend coming in, especially for the happy hour! read more

I kept passing by this place whenever I was in the area getting bubble tea. My and the lady finally decided to give it a try the other day. Luckily, we came by right around the time they had the happy Hour/lunch special, so we were able to capitalize on both. What I like about this place is (for happy hour) it's pretty cheap. On the same token though your getting what you're paid for, so don't set your expectations too high. The grilled oysters were ok, sushi was averave, and the skewers were dry. If I'm feeling cheap, I might come back, but other than that, probably not. The service was good and the people are nice, I just feel they could improve on their quality. read more

Bubblefish is my favorite sushi place in Philly! I discovered Bubblefish because I was walking around Chinatown and this place sounded like a cute spot to eat with great reviews. Almost every time that I visit Philly, I stop by Bubblefish and get the exact same thing -- the spicy maki combo. This combo comes with three different rolls, spicy crab, spicy tuna, and spicy salmon. Each roll has 8 pieces which is a plus and it's very filling for only $15.95. It comes with an incredibly tasty spicy mayo sauce that isn't like your regular spicy mayo. I think about the spicy mayo sauce often because it's so good. It's much thinner in consistency but it really could be the star of the show here. The fish is pretty fresh in the rolls we had. The spicy crab roll uses imitation crab which I wasn't a big fan of. The rice-to-fish ratio in each roll is fantastic, tons of fish, not too much rice. Service was quick and efficient. The restaurant itself and the bathroom are overall very clean. One thing to note, I've been here twice (once in July and once in October in two different years) and each time there's always been a fruit fly, flying around. I don't know if it's just my luck or what. Besides that, the vibes are cute and nicely decorated. This place is a great place for a quick and tasty bite of sushi. Would definitely recommend coming here! read more
Visited a nearby museum and walked to Bubblefish for lunch. There were only 4 other tables with patrons. The restaurant is spacious and clean. We were greeted and seated. My friend ordered the spicy seafood Ramen and I ordered the salmon teriyaki bubble fish box. Everything was delicious! This one is placed on my list to visit again! read more

Amazing food, i went to japan about a year ago and this is the best ramen i've had in philly since then haha. Great ambiance and vibes as well. the gentlemen who served was very nice too. 10/10 read more
I remember when this spot first opened several years ago - while there are a whole slew of boba places in Chinatown, their sushi burgers were novel and there weren't quite so many poke restaurants then. The sushi burger is still as flavorful as I remembered, though the rice was a bit hard this time. The Taiwanese salt baked chicken is still one of favorites - would definitely recommend. Attentive service, lots of people order take out/pick up as well. Ample amount of seating and good for groups. read more

I love Bubblefish. It's so good. One of my favorite places in Philly to get sushi. The rolls are delicious and they have some pretty good options for specials. I like their maki combo. It's a great deal. The restaurant itself is pretty, well put together, and clean. In the summer, they even open the front windows which is nice. read more
I was impressed with the sushi and sashimi quality especially because I didn't have high expectations. I got their sushi and sashimi platter and I really enjoyed it, especially I have to say the quality was amazing and it's comparable to some of the high-end sushi restaurants and omakase I've had. My least favorite was the chef's choice sushi which I didn't know what it was but didn't care for. The service was good. I will come back again to try the other specialty sushi and sashimi. read more
Was lured in with the amazing happy hour special menu, and was glad I did! The rolls were pretty good and great value for money for a quick treat. Cocktail is huge and tasty. There is a fresh ambiance inside and it's relaxing, plus there is a small lounge area and private room also. Everything came out really quick, staff are great. One of the few places that have madai (sea bream) on the menu and the sashimi was perfect. Definitely want to try more of their menu, it's a nice spot. Thanks read more
Found this place while walking around the town and wasn't disappointed at all. They have a diverse menu with a lot of Sushi, Japanese and some korean dishes. Tried various kinds of Sushi rolls (Veg and Non-Veg) along with Karage, Spicy Tuna and Jalapeno roll, Vegetable Fried Rice, Tune Poke', Seafood Ramen, Chicken Wing Skewer along with some Soju and Yuzu based drinks. The service was super nice and the owner/s were very kind. They were very attentive to what we asked for. The ambience is very pleasant and relaxing. This is a PERFECT place to come on a lazy summer evening, enjoy some great appies and food and have a few drinks... read more

Bubblefish lunch special sushi (M-F from 11 am to 3 pm I believe) is still a great deal. 3 rolls for 14.95 and 2 rolls for 10.95. I was pretty hungry so I order the 3 rolls for 14.95. The restaurant decor was nice and the server were pretty attentive, consistently refilling our water. The only thing is that the ramen broth is pretty salty according to my friends who order them (one order shoyu and the other order tonkatsu). I would definite come back for lunch with my friends. read more
Probably my go-to spot for affordable, reliable sushi in Philly/Chinatown. Been here at least 2-3x pre pandemic, and finally returned last Friday night during my latest trip to Philly (from NYC). Around 7:30pm, it was quite busy though we didn't have to wait for a table - just took a while for the food to come out but we didn't mind all that much. Between 2 people, we shared the Sushi & Sashimi Platter for Two ($41.95), Ninja Oyster Roll ($14.95), Salmon Avocado Onigiri ($4) and Eel Avocado Onigiri ($4.50). The platter was great, but we didn't love the chef special roll that it came with - it was fried and had cream cheese in it which was meeeh. Tasty, but would've preferred something ...less western. All in all still a good meal that satisfied our sushi cravings! read more
