For just under $20, you get a very good Chirashi bowl with big cuts of fish (O-Toro, salmon, yellowtail, albacore, scallops topped with roe, and giant clam, but this can vary) atop rice that I normally wouldn't think of as sushi rice, but it's still good. It's a little drier than sushi rice but it's seasoned nicely with fish flakes, sesame seeds, and scallions. Slivered beets and greens adorn the perimeter of the dish and I think it's basically for presentation. The usual ginger and wasabi accompany the dish. The fish tasted fresh and was prepared well. Most people want a Chirashi bowl to look exactly like the picture in the menu, but I was happy my server was able to get me a good customization, such as the clams. The restaurant looks nice and there are booths in the back where you can basically hide. About the only complaint I'd have is I was ready to order a happy hour cocktail from the menu they provided, but they said it was past happy hour... so why was I given the happy hour menu? I wanted to give this place 5 stars so bad but the fact that they don't serve bubble tea or specialty beverages (which is a part of their namesake) gets to me! The reason I've been trying to get to this restaurant, is because they offered the best of both worlds (bubble tea and sushi). But upon arrival I found that they haven't served beverages for some time now (a couple months). But I will continue this review regarding our restaurant and sushi experience. The restaurant was easy to find and due to the beautiful spring day the indoor/outdoor doors were open providing a cool breeze. The music was great and provided a good vibe. The staff was helpful and the food was delicious!!! I ordered the bubblefish roll and the shrimp tempura and I enjoyed every bite. So much that I had extra to go. Food was great with some minor issue that we did not make a big deal of until now. Came in for dine in, we order a roll, some nigiri pieces, and a ramen. First time having the ramen here, give it a 5/10, broth wasn't bad, but the egg it came with was sour. For the nigiri's, everything was fine until we got to the Jumbo Sweet Shrimp. The shrimp had a slimy texture, which we didn't think much of it until my girl took a bite. Turn out it was sour and she spit it back out. Luckily we only order 2 pieces. But after bringing the matter to one of our server, the manager ended up only removing just the 1 piece and we still had to pay for the other piece for $7.50 which we didn't even eat. Lastly the one roll we ordered wasn't properly rolled. It breaks as we were picking it up. Can I just say the sushi was amazing and super affordable for Philly. I came here with some friends on a Friday around 5:30 and the place was almost empty but by the time we left it was packed so keep that in mind. We ordered the edamame as an appetizer and the sushi platter for 3. We were worried we would still be hungry after this meal but honestly we were stuffed. California roll is mostly cucumber with the smallest smear of avocado and crab stick. The shrimp tempura is a flour mess. Salmon teriyaki is over cooked and the smallest slice ever. We ordered a seafood stir fried udon dish that wasn't particularly rave-worthy. With a flavorful umami sauce, the udon was tasty even though there could have been more seafood. I am docking a star off because my boyfriend and I noticed an odd smell where we sat; we couldn't identify where the smell was coming from, but it was faint and unpleasant. The best sushi in Chinatown! The price might be a little high compare to others but I think the quality speaks for itself. Must try their appetizers, sashimi, & sushi rolls! First, the presentation was absolutely stunning. Second, the portions were huge and the ingredients were of very high quality, with thick, buttery cuts of sashimi that just melt in your mouth. It seems like most people order their sushi and the only reason why I didn't was because we had eaten sushi the day before. All of that to say - everything else was very good. It was our first time seeing spicy garlic edamame on a menu- we both loved it. The octopus meatballs were a first for us too, slightly crispy on the outside and moist and flavorful on the inside- they were delicious! The miso soup was good too. Tried BubbleFish for the first time the other night and was disappointed. I had the Seafood Poke while my husband had the Unagi Don. From the appearance of it, the Seafood Poke looked amazing. It had a whole lot of tuna, salmon, shrimp, crab, egg, avocado and fried onions. The portions of the Unagi Don looked kind of small. As we dug into our food, I realized that the rice in the Seafood Poke had a little too much vinegar in it. Overtime, the sourness of the rice and the marinade from the salmon and tuna melded together into a flavor of its own. I was expecting a refreshing bowl of poke, but I got this and it was just not good. Also the wasabi that they provided looked off and watery, so I ended up using the wasabi we have in our own fridge. They gave 2 types of sauce. One was soy sauce and the other was a sauce I never seen. It was like pale vanilla colored sauce, which was decent. The quality of the sushi was exceptional. The dozen raw oysters were as fresh as they come by, literally plucked from Poseidon's garden. I really enjoyed one of the sushi that was torched. I thought the smoky flavor really elevated the sushi. The uni sashimi were also fresh and creamy! Although their menu was slightly limited as some options were unavailable, all of the stuff that I ordered were really great in terms of taste and presentation. Bubblefish is one of my go to spots for sushi in Chinatown/Center City area! The quality of the sashimi is always fresh. They have it all. If you are looking for traditional sushi rolls, they have that. If you are looking for the latest sushi trend, they also have that (i.e. sushi burger (which was messy to eat but so good)). During my most recent time, I got their seafood poke bowl. It was so good. They gave a good amount of seafood (salmon, tuna, and shrimp) topped with avocado and tamago. The sushi rice was cooked just right. I would definitely recommend getting their takoyaki and popcorn chicken. The popcorn chicken fried to perfection and the seasoning adds a perfect kick to it. Great interior amazing sashimi, and lovely staff. While waiting we were offered a sofa and that was a great start. Our other half of party arrived and we were quickly seated. While we ordered they had plenty of drinks on offer. Ordered rolls and a sashimi bowl. The rolls were unique and tasty but the sashimi impressed. Thick, fresh, variety in each bowl. If I could redo it I would split the biggest bowl with a friend. Coming from a small town in South Jersey, I must say that I probably don't normally get the best rolls, so my review may not reflect the quality of rolls in the city. All I know is that I completely enjoyed the rolls that my wife and I got and found them to be some of the best tasting rolls I ever had. I love soft shell crab so I chose the Mars Roll (Soft shell crab, cream cheese, jalapeno, avocado, shiso). The combination of flavors were a perfect bite which almost melted in your mouth. My wife got the Marilyn Monroll (Spicy tuna, spicy salmon, avocado, topped with torched white tuna, sampal garlic sauce) which I might add is one of the cutest names I've seen for a roll. It to was delicious and I would have been happy with either roll. What really surprised me was the quantity for the price. Many restaurants in my area on average give you less pieces for the same price. The restaurant itself is very nice and clean. The service was excellent and the staff made sure our area was cleaned off when we finished and that our water glass was full. read more

Definitely not worth the $15. We also tried one roll - their signature Bubblefish roll. It was tasty, however, once again, the sauce they used overpowered the taste of the sushi. My boyfriend also ordered the shoyu ramen for $10. He said it is worth the money if you were to compare the price of ramen elsewhere. But let's be real, I wouldn't go here if I was craving ramen. Ended up going to Bubblefish again a week later because my friend wanted to try it after seeing pics of my salmon burger. We all just ended up ordering sushi rolls. I felt this time around, the sushi tasted SO much better. My boyfriend ordered sushi heaven and said everything tasted fresh. My friend enjoyed her rolls as well. I haven't tried their bubble tea though.. just not open to trying it when I know there are other bubble tea places nearby. The service was quick, but can be a little intrusive. Perhaps they were over staffed that time, but they kept asking if we were done when there was still food clearly visible. The ambiance is great. The chairs are comfortable. (Avoid the booths up front if you're wearing shorts. The seats are peeling and definitely need to be replaced.) They give lemon water, however if you want plain water, that is available too. Salmon Sushi Burger - presentation was amazing. It really wowed me when it came out. The rice burger was actually pretty good. The whole thing itself wasn't really balanced. Too much sauce and not enough meats. I tasted more of the bacon itself rather than the salmon. Taiwanese Salt Baked Chicken - these were pretty amazing. Wasn't overly battered and the flavoring was perfect. Crabmeat Salad Onigiri - My kids enjoyed this the best. The amount of sauce mixed the the crab meat came to a really nice blend. We ordered 2 rolls (Out of Control and Marilyn Monroll) - They were both SO SWEET! I could not finish them. And the one with cream cheese had way too much cream cheese. Drinks were OK.
