9. Taiwanese Supreme Spicy Hot Pot

Stopped by for lunch on a weekday and my party was immediately seated. Surprisingly there was a lot of variety and they didn't skimp on flavor or toppings. I ordered their signature Taiwanese hot pot and it came packed with a side of rice and enough for leftovers to pack home. Service was also great, they stopped by often to refill water and ask how we're doing. In this small town, Hi Pot is a must stop if you want good tasting hot pot. Plus if you spend over a certain amount, you get a coupon voucher for a random item with your next purchase.

We came around noon on a Thursday and were seated right away. After looking through the menu we ordered a miso ramen and two appetizers. The fried calamari was tender but I didn't like the flavoring in the crust. It's the same as the seasoning in Taiwanese popcorn chicken. The garlic pork belly was more to my taste. It was garlicky and flavorful not too greasy. The miso ramen was solid. The cha siu (pork belly) was more like bacon than the soft fatty meat that we were use to. The inside was large and spacious with plenty of booths and seating.

The food tastes good and the services excellent. Most importantly, their price is reasonable and affordable

My favorite non traditional hot pot. It actually is probably my favorite hot pot in general. Broth is so flavorful and the dishes are loaded with a bunch of different ingredients. I definitely get in my veggies and protein here. Wish they were closer as I would seriously become a regular here. I have tried plenty of broths here - from tom yum to cheese milk, to seafood, curry, beef, and the stinky Tofu. My favorite is definitely the cheese milk broth. Get it with some spice and I promise you, you won't be disappointed. It may sound weird, but it is surely delicious. Each pot can definitely feed 2.

This was a new experience for our family. We are veterans of hot pot/shabu shabu, but the experience at Hi Pot was different. It advertises itself as a 'Taste of Taiwan' and is not like the AYCE hot pot places that have become all to common. Instead, Hi Pot offers ramen, boba, and Taiwanese style a la carte hot pot creations. Why 'hi'? My guess is because the hot pot is served on a stand that elevates the pot above table level and allows for a temporary heating element to keep your pot hot for about 10 minutes until the flame burns out. We ordered the veggie hot pot, the kimchee hot pot, and the chicken hot pot; along with some popcorn chicken (Taiwanese style) and some fries. The fries were overpriced, but my younger son was being picky. Each entree came out mostly cooked. Only the rice vermicelli needed some time to heat. My kimchee hot pot tasted like a mild version of the Korean classic kimchi jjigae. It came with a bowl of rice, but it wasn't needed. There was a variety of ingredients including imitation crab, two unpeeled jumbo shrimp, fish balls, cabbage, and kimchi (of course). Broth for all three were mild but flavorful. You could choose your spice level, but I opted for mild. It was a neat experience. I think I would rather pick and choose what ingredients I'd add to my hot pot, but the overall taste and presentation was vey enjoyable.

I was lucky to find a street parking right outside the restaurant since they don't have their private parking lot like some other restaurants. So be prepared to drive around to look for spot. I dined at this restaurant with my friends after our nearby playdate at Crayola. A total party of 13 and our server was pretty nice and friendly, without giving us any attitude. The food was pretty good and delicious!! I definitely had a very satirical meal. I ordered the satay beef pot with no spicy level because I need to share that with my kids. But I believe it will taste so much better if I have gotten that pot with mild or even medium spicy. Their ramen wasn't bad. I ended my meal with their mango sago dessert. That one was just alright to me. I feel like it was a bit too sweet and the real mango fruit were too small and not ripped enough. Overall, good food and good service. Everyone was happy.

Another Bethlehem favorite to the list! Came here with freinds on a whim and couldn't be more pleased. I had never heard of this place or tried hot pot before. I stuck to good old ramen noodles and boba but our friends got the hot pot and it was SO COOL! Definitely coming back to try it. We loved our ramen bowls. Very big portions! We got a tarp boba tea and it was phenomenal.... Dreaming of it until next time. Seriously. It's a must try. It was so good our friends ordered one at the end for the road haha. Arrived here and got seated and served and ate very promptly. This place is so nice and fun. Definitely a hot spot. Check it out for sure you will love it ! Thank you.

Got Suchuan Spicy hotpot for $22. This place is 10/10 and blew my mind. Such varieties of meat and vegetables and they will adjust to any allergies of course. Spicy, flavorful and but not overwhelmingly spicy as spice level can be adjusted. So much umami. AND.... no MSG (per them)! Service: they were prompt and attentive and even packed leftovers. Nice ambiance. Cute design in the restaurant. Good music. Wish this was closer to where I live. Or else I would go every day. I would for sure try other pot flavors as I'm sure they'd all be good.

My boyfriend is Taiwanese and this is his favorite restaurant that reminds him of Taiwan. Best Taiwanese hot pot we've been to and we absolutely love this place. The servers remember us and they always ask us where we've been because we'll go missing for a month or so. We're sorry! We wish we lived much closer and I'm too lazy. Appetizers: Popcorn chicken is my boyfriend's favorite. Pork hock is so flavorful and yummy. Stinky tofu is something I really like. I never used to like stinky tofu either. Entrees: Taiwanese Supreme Spicy hot pot is a huge portion so be ready for it to be huge and spicy I almost always get the stinky tofu hot pot because I really like their stinky tofu. It also has all the ingredients I love like pork blood, clam, sausage, quail, intestine. Seafood lobster hot pot is really good too because you get a whole lobster tail Love the inside of the restaurant. The planet ceiling lights make me happy. Go hungry, leave happy and stuffed.

2. Lamb Hot Pot

This was an amazing find in downtown Allentown. There are a number of eateries here and it looks like Allentown wants to grow this area. Hi Top is a Taiwanese restaurant specializing in hot pots. I think they have 15 varieties. Each hot pot comes is served hot and once it arrives at your table the server lights a heater underneath the hot pot to keep it boiling. There is a central meat of some type accompanied by a generous helping of other fish, crab, tofu, vermicelli etc. I had the lamb. It was great. Others in our party had appetizers. There were four containers with condiments on the table (soy sauce, chili oil, sweet chili and bean paste). Our party loved the appetizers. Service was outstanding. We were greeted immediately and the servers were on top of everything. I highly recommend this Hi Pot. However, I recommend that you avoid the nearby parking lot. We parked, downloaded the app, paid for parking and still got a ticket. If I lived closer, I would probably avoid this area just because of the parking hassle. I've appealed the ticket, but the bethpark.org website makes it clear that I may not receive a timely answer and I am liable for additional penalties if for some reason the appeal doesn't go my way. Definitely NOT the way to end an otherwise pleasurable experience.

Sacha beef

I've never had Taiwanese hotpot before so I thought to give Hi Pot a shot. Hi Pot is fast, delicious and very worth it! I ordered the Sichuan hot pot and could not get enough of the ingredients + broth. Unlike the typical hotpot restaurants, because your broth isn't boiling for a whole hour it doesn't ever get too salty/bitter to drink as a soup. I definitely appreciated being able to enjoy the entire dish! I also ordered the sacha beef just out of curiosity and it's the hotpot fatty beef but in a blend of chinese bbq/sacha sauce. The restaurant is probably quite nifty at operationalizing its cooking and we get to benefit.

We tried to call this place three times before showing up but the phone was busy. No message…read moreservice, no instructions on how to make a reservation, just a busy signal. Anyway, my wife and I show up and are told it's a fifty minute wait, so we decide to drive to a local restuarant/bar and have a drink. Fifty minutes later we come back and are seated. We each order two rolls, and figure if they're good, we would order another. The waiter, a bearded dude with a beanie, that looks like he should be smoking weed on a lobster boat off the coast of Maine, was nice, but a bit "out there." Anyway, fifty minutes later we are still waiting for our rolls. We are a bit hungery seeing it was now 8PM (we showed up at 6PM, and still no food. So my wife asks the lobsterman where our food was. He said, "we're not quick here" and moved on, fifteen minutes later, our food arrives, and for the most part, the sushi was very good, but waiting over an hour for four rolls is insane. Also, it was a BYOB, so during the long wait they recommended Joe's down the street to get beer. Joe's is cash only, so I had to use their ATM which charged me a $3 service charge, and $17 for a six pack, plus I gave the guy a $3 tip, so it cost me $23 for a six pack of beer. Upon finishing out rolls my wife asked if I wanted to split on more roll. By this time, it was 8:30 and there was no way I was waiting till 9:30 for one more roll. We asked for a check and put our credit card on the table we like to use for air miles. Lobsterman then told us cash only, lol, so I hiked to the nearest 7/11 and paid a $4 service fee. The moral of the story, bring cash, bring your own beer, bring a lot of patience, and you should enjoy your sushi, which was good. Oh yeah, the men's bathroom literally has a toilet that comes up to the middle of my shin. It looks like something you'd see at a preschool for kids. I only had to pee, but for the guys who work there, I have no idea what they do when the have to do #2. SMH. The place is a bit surreal and I will not be going back.

Because of that alone, it attracts a great mix of local regulars, even on weeknights, which gives it a lively but comfortable vibe. The décor is modern and fun without trying too hard, exactly the kind of place you want to settle into for a relaxed late-night meal. It feels welcoming, not rushed, and perfect for lingering over a bowl of ramen. The service matches that energy: friendly, attentive, and genuinely happy to have you there, which makes a big difference late at night. Given the other reviews, the ramen wasn't horrible. Not sure why the complaints are expressed. In real honesty, unless the bowl of ramens (is that plural?) are teleported straight from Japan - not going to expect a lot. Which is even more noteworthy to mention that food-wise, there's a nice variety to choose from, whether you're craving something rich and comforting or lighter and more balanced. Ramen does not have to be the one, all the time. (Even though the winter season makes it more satiating to have ramen.) Everything feels thoughtfully put together, and it's clear this is a place that takes pride in both flavor and experience. We had a variety of apps, bubble teas, and there was dessert at the end, too. For versatility, this is a definitely a good spot. If comparing to cuisines from Japan, um... I think we should lower our standards a bit and just enjoy the ambience, and night out. Overall, I'm so glad this spot exists for us night owls. It fills a much-needed gap in the local food scene and has quickly become the kind of place you're grateful to know about when everything else is closed. Please support your local businesses!

Overall, the bill wasn't too expensive either. However, the ambience is majorly lacking for how cool the historical building looks from outside. That was a big let down after years of seeing this in passing. It feels too much like a 90s coffee shop from Friends / a poorly converted modern bank lobby with the lighting, and the floor layout lacks flow if you're sitting at the bar. It would be an improvement to see historic qualities restored to the interior, rather than bland sheet rocking, no crown molding, etc. Aside from this, we found the music to be a very distracting and random selection of early 2000s dance, pop, EDM, emo, and rock, mixed with the occasional alt rock hit that was (finally) tolerable enough to fade into the background. The room is vacuous because of the high ceilings and hard building materials, so turning the volume down a little and choosing something consistent in tone (perhaps neo soul or just sticking to alt rock) would be beneficial for the overall atmosphere. Bottom line: would return again for the food, but the atmosphere wasn't what we expected and could be improved for a cozier, vintage styled atmosphere (but that's mostly a matter of preference). Friendly service, affordable prices, and good eats go a long way.

Simply amazing…read more.. While most people were indulging in Sunday brunch, my girlfriend wanted Chinese food. As we drove, she read the description for U & TEA and we knew we had to go. The place is clean with plenty of room and great lighting -- and the entire establishment is food focused. Our server helped with teas and plates and we placed our orders. My girlfriend got sweet and sour chicken for her main meal. It was obvious the food was fresh and the dish had been cooked in fresh oil (and only for a short amount of time). The sauce was delicate and subtle, which allowed the flavor of the tender chicken to shine through. And what a plate! She ended up having leftovers for two days. Although I normally order seafood, I love duck and have it once or twice a year. From the menu, their duck dishes looked fantastic. Our server recommended the Peking Duck, which I had always wanted to try. That dish brought Alice Gatsch with it. She is kind and engaging and introduced how I should properly eat Peking Duck. She walked be through the steps of how to prepare the buns with scallion, cilantro, and sauce. I wish I could convey how tender the duck was and how crispy the skin had been. It was incredible and I somehow cleared my plate (and didn't eat for the rest of the day). We cannot wait to return. Alice said she'd be happy to walk me through ordering a truly traditional meal and I look forward to that experience. The staff and food are too fantastic to pass up.
