My first try was pork gyoza and the sushi lunch, served with house salad, miso soup, California roll, and 5 pieces assorted sushi (in this case 2 hamachi, 2 salmon, 1 tuna). Gyoza was very tasty, if not super crisp. The ginger-orange dressing on the salad was one of the best examples of this sushi house standard. The miso soup was a little off. The California roll had a good rice ratio. The fish was all very clean, and the salmon especially had good flavor. I ordered simply the first time out to see how Kumo would handle the basics, and I'm more than satisfied. Next up I'm going to explore the menu and try some appetizers and special rolls, and I'm excited. The Lehigh Valley needs good sushi, and I really hope Kumo can measure up! read more

I order a rock and roll and it sent me to the hospital. I called for a refund after getting out of the hospital. the man I spoke with gave me the nastiest attitude, cursed at me and then hung up in my face. I call again and a woman told me I could come back in for the refund. I get there and they threatened to call the cops on me. The cook kept trying to tell me to wait for the "manager" to then say wait for the cops. Trying to ambush me with cops to then still give me my refund and ban me from the establishment after their cook lost his temper. read more

I politely asked if I could have more of x in a ashimi combo and less of y, and if I could have no extra added sugar in my boba. They wrote back a rude note saying "if you like x and y just order them individually"and"our boba are regular not sure what you are asking" which...was really rude and unnecessary. Ordered Kumo Sushi for lunch today. The ocean roll was pretty standard. I wasn't super in love with the yuzu eel sauce as it was just too sweet for my liking. I just kept getting hit with that and nothing else. The crunchy topping also was not crunchy and tasted stale so that was disappointing. The avocado and shrimp tempura were nice. Hand rolls aren't bad but way too pricey for the portion. Tom yum soup was extremely bland and again, far too expensive for just a small container of broth, 2 pieces of shrimp, 1/4th of one scallop (way too cheap for chopping it that thin), and one sad strip of artificial crab meat. I'd give the place one star for the portion but for the speed and how awesome the Uber eat driver was (which doesn't even have anything to do with the restaurant but just enhanced the experience overall), it gets an extra star. read more

The sushi is good, and delivery is fast. I ordered a dragon roll and a 2011 roll, as well as shumai for an appetizer. It was all delicious... the avocado on the dragon roll was especially fresh. The shumai were surprisingly spicy, which wasn't my favorite-- I preferred the seafood gyoza my partner ordered. My only complaint about Kumo is the cost-- we order comparable amounts of food at other sushi restaurants and it ends up around $70-80, but here it was $105. It adds up really fast! read more

I have only ordered their lunch special which either has three rolls or two with the choice of miso soup or salad. It's become my go to stop when I don't want to drive far or just get take out. My favorite so far is the spicy tuna, Tokyo roll and the eel avocado. I haven't tried their signature rolls but they look like they have a variety to offer. The sushi is fresh and decent. I don't know how or why they're "highly rated" on Uber Eats. Half my order, the sushi, was completely incorrect and looked gross. Uber gave me a refund for the sushi, but it wasn't enough to cover the cost of ordering the same sushi from a different place. Really pissed that Kumo could f-up such a simple order. My husband called Kumo Sushi, and the person who answered the phone did not even apologize, and told him to tell Uber Eats. We had a hard time to find the contact of Uber Eats to get refunds. So I really like the food at this place but the girls that work the door are SO RUDE!! Not sure why they expect a tip with the attitude they have. Not sure why this place gets such good reviews. Way over priced and not good at all. Got many things...pork dumplings, squid app, special roll, sweet potato roll, beef ramen, and chic teriyaki. Over $85 worth of food and it was gross. Chic teriyaki was flavorless and chewy. Beef ramen had such a strong flavor from something in it possibly a mushroom and it was not edible. My family has ordered food from here a few times, and the quality and service has been consistently good. They do contactless transaction for takeouts, which is great during Covid. Their price is slightly higher compared to some sushi restaurants in town, but their better fish quality justifies it. Unfortunately, our most recent order did not meet our expectations. Their service was still excellent, but they dropped the ball in their food quality. While I don't like to go into every little detail in my review, I just couldn't ignore these mistakes. Here's a rundown of the issues we had: 1) Tatsuta Age This should have been called chicken katsu nuggets since it's a plain chicken breaded with flour, eggs, and panko breadcrumbs. I've been doing Japanese cooking almost my entire life, so let me first explain what Tatsuta-age is. It's a meat, fish or vegetable that is marinated in soy sauce-based sauce, coated with potato starch, and deep-fried. 2) Spicy maki combo Their fish quality was good as usual and their spicy yellowtail roll tasted fine. However, they made spicy salmon with smoked salmon, which gave it an odd flavor. My guess is their sushi chef mistakenly grabbed the wrong piece of salmon when he prepared the spicy salmon. Also, mixing sesame oil into spicy tuna roll wasn't a tasty move. Their plating also made it hard to distinguish between spicy salmon and spicy tuna rolls, which looked pretty identical. They should have grouped the rolls by each type in a container. 3) Chicken teriyaki dinner We've had some rubbery chicken before but not bad enough to hear our poor jaws pop from over-chewing. The strange thing was it was super chewy in the meatiest part of the chicken in the middle but fairly tender around it. Usually the thickest part takes longer to cook on a grill or a stove. We suspect that they reheated a chicken in a microwave because it cooked faster in the middle. Their teriyaki sauce was also watery. Lastly, their salad was fresh, but it needed to be drained well. After having takeouts at Kumo Sushi a few times, we've come to a conclusion that it's best to stick to simple maki rolls and avoid their kitchen menu. Finding a good sushi restaurant at this price range has become hard in Bethlehem area because of limited reliable fish suppliers in Philly or New York. I hope they'll improve their overall food quality to make us want to come back. read more

However tonite 5/31/2022- the order was awful. I ordered the 10 piece sashimi - which pictured vibrant tuna, salmon and a white fish and I received 2 tiny slivers of salmon, two small crab chunks?- a shrimp and I couldn't even identify the other pieces. Then the California roll which is normally good, had the tiniest stick of crab in it I've ever seen. Don't think I will order from here again no matter how convenient it is. My husband got us sushi and miso for Valentine's Day dinner. He said he was surprised to see the restaurant so clean and nicely redone. He said when he went to pick up the food it was not packed, the staff was kind and helpful. We ordered online and didn't receive a confirmation of order so we called to make sure it went through and were told it would be about 40 mins which was fine with us since we did order after 7:30 on a Friday night, which also happen to be Valentine's Day. The food was packaged nicely and the ingredients all looked fresh. The rolls were all tasty. Personally, I wished the rice was sticker, it was a little too dry for my liking, but nothing that would keep me from going back again. The mismo was great. The shrimp tempura was perfect and my husband loved his tuna and salmon rolls. Would definitely try it out again. Prices were very fair for what we ordered. read more
