I've been to Takumi for lunch a few times and decided to go back for dinner. Our waitress, Irene, was nice but the menu is pretty much so it took awhile until we were ready to order. Felt a little rushed. First we ordered some Edamame to start. They came warm with some spices on them. Tasted pretty good. Then had the spicy egg drop soup. It was a little more spicy than I would have liked but still good. Then I ordered a Tuna/Avocado roll and a Tempura shrimp roll. Both were a nice size and very tasty. My girlfriend took me here for my birthday and it was our first time visiting. We were seated right away. She got their chicken teriyaki and it was obvious that this was better and fresher than any version of the dish she had. My girlfriend loved it. The chicken was tender and the vegetables were crisp. I ordered the sashimi dinner and it was some of the best sashimi I've had in quite a while. Great, fresh cuts with excellent flavors. I was beyond satisfied. The odd thing: My miso soup had way too much sodium but my girlfriend's was perfect. I'm not sure how that could even happen. The servers were kind and helpful, but they seemed to be a bit overworked and didn't check in as expected. The atmosphere can be improved. Takumi Sushi is a resturant that serves Japanese cuisine-style food, even though it's a sushi place. This was my first visit, and it was a mostly good experience. The restaurant decorated with some Japanese-style art and busy for a Saturday Night. While Takumi has a wide variety of sushi, they also offer habachi dishes. I tried the habachi vegetables, and they were good. I also enjoyed an ice cream sundae for dessert. The portions I thought were fair for the prices of the product. The only thing that could have been better was the seating. If you don't get a booth, it can be hard to have a conversation, especially in a busy restaurant. The acoustics made it difficult to hear my and friend and I talk to each other. For a group, a table would have been ideal, but we weren't in a hurry, so asking for a booth or table might have been helpful. Overall, it's a great restaurant, and the food was enjoyable. Unfortunately this is restaurant does not line up to the Yelp reviews.... Takumi was clean and service was great however the food was just not. Seafood Rangoons were served hot as if they were just fried. A deep brown fried coloring not the GBD ( Golden Brown & Deliciousness) I was expecting. The Seafood Rangoons were filled with cream cheese and a hint of seafood flavor (again a hint). The wonton wrapper the Rangoon was wrapped in was thick and very doughy not like the traditional wonton wrapper and the Chili Sauce served with it the Rangoons is more on the spicier side, not much sweet. Hibachi Seafood Combo was a disappointment. The seafood - Lobster, Shrimp & Scallops were so over cooked it was almost inedible and drenched in Hibachi Sauce with an over grilled flavor. The chef utilizes the lobster shell as decorative item however totally unnecessary. Also served was fried rice - bland and missing that fried rice flavor and vegetables also drenched in hibachi sauce. Menu description indicates the order came with 2 pieces of Shrimp, this was not evident and clear soup which is the typical but missing the crispy onions and the slivered mushroom instead a couple of big pieces of mushrooms. Did not order any sushi but did ask if they served 1/2 rolls and was told no but the speciality rolls are quite large. This was not an enjoyable eating experience and will not mostly return. read more

Always on the lookout for a sushi/ramen spot when on vacation, the high yelp rating of Takumi led us here, proving to us why we love yelp! From the food, to the service this place was top notch! We ordered 3 sushi rolls, a dragon roll, a spider roll, and an eel avocado roll. All were fresh and delicious. We ended up stuffing ourselves because we had so much food, I thought the portions of sushi were good, more than we have seen in other establishments. My husband also ordered a chicken katsu ramen. I have never seen the meat served outside the ramen, and i'm not sure I've ever seen breaded meat with ramen, but he loved it and thought it worked well. Both halves of the egg were included which always makes him happy! The service was friendly and efficient. Excellent, excellent!! So happy with the new Japanese cuisine that took over this spot in Palmer. I passed by last Saturday and the place was popping. Two of my sisters got take out and raved about the food I decided to come here last night with my family for my birthday. We tried a lot of different things. Everything was fantastic. My favorites of the meal were the dumplings, chicken tempura, and the hibachi chicken. I subbed noodles for the rice with my meal and it was fantastic. Even my three year old was trying everything. The atmosphere is clean and relaxing with plenty of space and tables. The owner was so delightful. I can't wait to come back again soon. We have visited two times and both times we had issues upon arrival with seating. First time, we had a reservation but they didn't seem to know who seated customers so we stood there until someone figured it out. Second time we had a reservation, the hostess ignored us and allowed us to stand directly in front of her without so much as a greeting for about ten minutes. Then she said we needed a waitress to seat us. This took another five minutes. If this restaurant can get some front of the house management, it's will be five stars. read more
