We have only ever done take out but they do a fabulous job with it! They have quite a few vegan options that all are soooo yummy! We usually get the miso soup, general tso tofu, fried rice, veg noodles, veg tempura, sweet potato roll, white rice and spring roll which are all delicious!

I stopped in here for lunch because I was in the area and most of the reviews I read were pretty good. I ordered the Thai Red Curry Shrimp Lunch Box. It came with pork dumplings, soup or salad, and a California roll. Everything was very average. They do offer sushi pieces for $1 and rolls for $3 on Mondays so if I'm in the area for some reason I would be willing to give it another try.

First time trying this place. Have always heard good things about them - and they don't disappoint. Got takeout, but while I waited I looked around. Nice atmosphere, Moe adult oriented though food choices for kids. No Tv. Not an issue for me. BYOB. But this - Pauline Roll (tempura shrimp with spicy crab meat) - delicious. Can't wait to come back again and bring the family.

Celebrated with family for the holidays by treating them to a unique but delicious dinner. We…read moreended up having atleast 15 in our party. This is my best effort to capture that experience for others planning similar events. Let me start off by saying that they are a first come first serve restaurant. They do not do reservations and during heavy holiday periods parking is quite limited and will likely involve a short walk. That was the case for all of my party during our visit. The restaurant and entrance are not immediately visible from the road, especially at night. But using Yelp driving instructions we got very close Upon entry we noticed two menus on the tables and noted one was a rather limited meal menu and the other was for a co-located tavern in the restaurant. The limited menu might deter some from choosing the restaurant but I think it's worth the chance. The entire space exudes a hipster, eclectic library tone with an extensive beer selection and a restaurant menu equally as unique featuring an asian fusion that appears to include Japanese, Vietnamese and Korean tastes. I am uncertain but it felt as thought the Tavern and Restaurant operated as two businesses for billing. While odd, I didn't mind as I wanted to treat my family to some fine cuisine and they were welcomed to consume alcohol at their own expense. For most it would be two transactions. I did make an effort to call ahead as we had a large party and I hoped to get a commitment from the owner for reserved seating. The last thing I wanted was to arrive as a party of 15 only to wait an hour for seating. Sadly, this was not an option. At the time it was quite frustrating, but in all honesty I did not get the impression that they cater heavily to large parties. Upon arrival I spoke to the wait staff and explained that I was hoping to run a tab where I could avoid making multiple trips to pay for meals. They were amenable to the request which alleviated some of my earlier apprehension. I also made the decision based on the menu to order multiple items of numerous dishes and asked they be delivered to the table as they were plated. I selected at least 12 dishes with multiple orders on each dish to enable spreading them down the tables we collected and joined. The flow of food from the kitchen kept pace with the appetites of my family. In the end there were a couple obvious wins and losses from the night. Thankfully the overall tapas style dinner for 15 was a hit. The Korean Chicken was by far the most notable of the night. The meat was tender, the seasoning on point with a slight hint of spicy. Additionally the Shrimp Skewers, Beef Short rib, Vegan and Carne buns and wontons were quickly dispatched. The pork belly lo mein and crab dip were the low points. I think for most in my party the fatty pork belly was unappealing while the crab appeared to be unappreciated for its flavor. One important note that made it difficult to assess all dishes, for those who cannot eat pork, a great many dishes included pork. As a result I was unable to sample the pork dishes to give more clear feedback. The Lo mein and Crab dip included pork. We also ordered some sushi dishes to include Nigiri, Tempura Shrimp and Tempura Salmon as most in our group were not fans of raw fish (their loss). The sushi was not the best I have had but overall it was decent and provided my non-sushi eating family with an introduction to sushi. For dessert I ordered 6 orders of the pineapple ginger upside down cake with ice cream and asked the staff to just serve them as half dishes to finish the meal off with a sweet note. The dessert was delicious. At the end of the meal, I settled the bill and it was most definitely not cheap but the positive experience and enjoyable food left everyone pleased. In retrospect I would have preferred to substitute the two lo mein orders for the Korean Chicken and the crab dip for either wontons or buns. My final assessment of the visit was that the staff was super attentive and customer focused, the food was overall delicious and the setting made for a comfortable social environment to celebrate a family get together after Christmas. I removed a star just to note the initial challenge when I was trying to select and secure the venue for the night as well as the two food items that were not hits. Knowing what I know now, I and my family have a clear idea of what we really enjoyed and would happily return for those items. Hopefully this helps others who are on the fence given the limited menu.

I stopped…read moreby for lunch with my top-tier chum, a native of the Kingdom of Sussex who has been here before and has spoken highly of it. I don't know why I was surprised to discover this was in a strip mall, but that's on me. A nice one, at least. The place was relatively busy but we were able to secure a table easily with zero wait time. Pleasant vibes inside. I don't mean this as an insult at all but I was expecting more ethnic decor in line with the restaurant's menu - instead, it's pretty Americanized and feels like a classic suburban NJ establishment. I liked the painted brick on the lefthand side that has Blue Spice's logo/sign on it; spiffy. The bathroom was also a high point, which is...not something I say often. It was very clean and smelled nice, and I liked the dark cruise-ship lighting vibe. We decided to split the scallion pancake app, which was an excellent decision. I work in the city and regularly have this item from a place in Chinatown, and I honestly thought this was better, mostly because it was thicker/denser than what I'm used to. Super tasty and would get that again in a heartbeat. Giant portion as well - we split the pancake, which was roughly the size of a small pizza. My chum had leftovers there, I did not; so it goes with us. I've had a few mediocre chicken katsu experiences of late, so this seemed like a chance for redemption. I ordered the Akiko Curry entree, which was their spin on chicken katsu curry. Honestly wasn't my favorite. Again, a HUGE portion here and was only able to finish about 60% of it despite having a pretty legit appetite coming in. And the presentation value is excellent as well, as far as that goes. This could easily just be a personal palate preference, but I wasn't crazy about the curry itself (which had a weird tang to it) and didn't resemble the standard curry I'm used to with this dish. Also, as you can see from the attached, the curry is basically on the side of the dish, separated from the chicken and rice. Because of that, the chicken is on the dry side, which is my primary beef (pun?) with the item to begin with. So a miss for me, but I could see why other people would like this (and apparently do). The service was excellent, full stop. Our waitress was very nice and personable; she had strong command of the menu and you could see her consistently engaging with other patrons throughout our meal as well. She took several group photos so this is apparently a Kingdom of Sussex hot spot for that, which I wouldn't have guessed. She was so good both of us remarked on it multiple times during the meal, which is a rarity. But a great example of hospitality markedly improving an experience and making what was already an overall positive situation that much better. Huge marks there. Would definitely come back but would explore other parts of the menu once I feasted on the scallion pancake.

I also ordered the notch fried rice bowl. Chinese sausage, pork belly, peas, carrots, bell peppers, tomatoes, garlic, broccoli, egg, bean sprouts, togarashi spice, and topped with a dippy egg. This dish was savory, Asian fusion cuisine mixed with something that felt like comfort food. If you go here, this is what I would recommend you try, but their whole menu looked incredible. This is a spot you need to add to your list of places to check out.

That being said anyone complaining about the price have either never been to the highway robbery trend joints in the city or had someone else foot the bill. The pricing in my opinion is cheap considering the quality and large portions you receive. I'm not a chef or sushi expert. Neither are 99.9% of the annoying "foodies" on here. God I hate that term as much as nails on a chalkboard. Get over yourselves. I've never been disappointed in regards to food or service. I'm a firm believer that some people go into a restaraunt with a chip on their shoulder & their noses pointed up way too high in the air. Bringing unrealistic expectations that if even met they'd still find something to piss about. The service here has always been more than friendly & astute. I don't know the older gentlemans name, I presuime he's the owner. But we typically have him and he's always nice and attentive towards us. On a side note, I like to collect pint glasses that catch my eye. When I inquired if I could purchase one he refused any payment. Took it back & had it washed & gave it to me for free. Again, I'm not a sushi-ghuru. But I've bern to the likes of Nobu & their ilk. And from my experience & that of a good friend whom is a Master Chef, none of them are worth their weight in gold. Which is what they expect you to pay them in. You want to talk about crap service in an overpriced, stuffy atmosphere where you are no more important than a fly on the wall then be my guest. The bottom line is the sushi is to par with the price. If you're broke, then don't eat out. If you're a restaurant snob, then go to the places where it'd be better and cheaper to charter your own boat, catch your own fish, & prepare it yourself. Sogo doesn't deserve a harsh review in my opinion. Perhaps some of it's customers do.

The other role I ordered was the unbelievable roll, the eel in the middle was very fishy, and if you eat sushi, you know what I mean by an abnormal type of fishy taste, and it was topped with spicy tuna that surprisingly had very little flavor. The place is clean with plenty of room and great lighting -- and the entire establishment is food focused. Our server helped with teas and plates and we placed our orders. My girlfriend got sweet and sour chicken for her main meal. It was obvious the food was fresh and the dish had been cooked in fresh oil (and only for a short amount of time). The sauce was delicate and subtle, which allowed the flavor of the tender chicken to shine through. And what a plate! She ended up having leftovers for two days. Although I normally order seafood, I love duck and have it once or twice a year. From the menu, their duck dishes looked fantastic. Our server recommended the Peking Duck, which I had always wanted to try. That dish brought Alice Gatsch with it. She is kind and engaging and introduced how I should properly eat Peking Duck. She walked be through the steps of how to prepare the buns with scallion, cilantro, and sauce. I wish I could convey how tender the duck was and how crispy the skin had been. It was incredible and I somehow cleared my plate (and didn't eat for the rest of the day). We cannot wait to return. Alice said she'd be happy to walk me through ordering a truly traditional meal and I look forward to that experience. The staff and food are too fantastic to pass up.
