I haven't frequented this place for a while but when my friend asked for some good bubble waffle, Yelp took me back here. We arrived 40 minutes before opening but the girl working there was super nice and let us in, letting us know it might be an extra 15 minute wait for the bubble waffle maker to get warmed up. Regardless, we were so grateful she let us in and out of the rainy cold. Reason for the 5 stars: Matcha Mochi Bubble Waffle!!! This was a life changing bubble waffle. The bubble waffle was fresh, hot and had a very good rich matcha flavour. The mochi inside was chewy and gooey, yet the bubble waffle was still crispy on the outside. It was the perfect textures of crispy and chewy and perfect tastes of matcha and sweet mochi. They continue to serve decadent bubble teas filled with oreos, mangoes, kit kat, ferrero rocher, etc... They also serve many other choices of filled and non-filled bubble waffles like taro, sesame, orange, original, etc... I remember when Bubble Queen was on the other size of the plaza.... that's how long I've stuck with their Bubble Tea. Their name really does do them justice. Best BBT in Metro Van by far. Great selection in light-eats and drinks. I'm not much of a fancy person so I like to stick to the simpler drinks although I have tried many (most) of their creations. I use to frequent this place so often they gave me a VIP card, not just the plain ol' stamp card. It is a bit more pricey than other places BUT it does make up for it in quality and taste. Try their fresh mango drinks and their fresh taro. Yumminess. Their bubble waffles are amazeballs (even better than amazing). Light, crispy, not too full in the middle... and you can even get them with fillings in the middle, what whatt!? Do keep in mind that the bubble waffles take a long time to make so be prepared to wait. Best thing is to pick up the phone and give them a ring ten to twenty minutes before you come in so they get it ready for you. When it gets busy... you can wait... a really long time. This is my favourite bubble tea place. I've been coming here since they first opened since i live close by and they had a special for a while ($3-all drinks). Prices are about the same as other places now but they have a huge menu of drinks. I love that they serve fresh fruits and chocolately ones. They are always willing to modify drinks when i'm feeling picky and will not hesitate to correct it if I don't like the taste. My favourite drink is Mango coconut slush with pearls, Papaya slush or Honeydew slush. The other favourite of customers is the bubble waffle. They have sesame, dried pork, strawberry white chocolate (my fav), matcha mochi and a bunch more. Sometimes you can get 2 for $5. :) Great deal. It gets busy in the summer though so be prepared to wait, and stand out outside while you enjoy your drink. If you come often enough, it is definitely worth it to buy a VIP card for discounts. The tapioca (bubbles) were one of the best. The ambiance is a bit small but service was very friendly. I would definitely come back again if in the area. There isn't really one big thing that gives me reason to deduce that one star other than the fact that I wasn't exactly "wowed." Other than that, pretty good for bubble tea. read more

This is going to be a bold statement but I believe Bubble Queen is the best BBT place in Vancouver/Richmond. Save yourself the trouble of deciding and order the Ferrero Rocher drink. Heaven in a cup then heaven in your mouth. I wonder how many rochers they use in a drink...there's a whole one and the rest is blended. It's probably a lot because every sip is BAM! Tons of flavor and the chunky chocolate bits makes it a substantial drink. I've had the mango mochi before as well and it's pretty tasty. Again, a huge selection on their menu. The various bubble waffles are great. No other place as this sort of selection and great taste. I love their wall of bulk chocolate bars. This is the real deal! read more

I've tried about 18 drinks here and 2 types of bubble waffles. Every item I've tried was fantastic, with the exception of the Lindor White Slush. But I think it may be due to human error, as the same person making it burnt my waffles. I cut him some slack because he was still inexperienced. He's definitely improved a lot haha. I've tried a lot of their chocolate bar slushes and I would have to say that my favourites are the Maltesers, Almond Roca, and of course, the famous Mango Cube Slush! The Mango Mochi slush is also a good alternative if the fresh mangoes aren't in season! Not a lot of people order their milk teas but I really recommend you do, as every one I've tried has been exceptional! I also highly recommend their Strawberry White Chocolate Bubble waffle. Reminiscent of pocky but 100x better! The white chocolate takes the waffle to another level! The Oreo bubble waffle is delicious as well! It's filled with an oreo paste that isn't too sweet. What you get is early on-set diabetes in a cup, and everything about it is glorious. Bubble Queen is unique, serving up flavour combinations I've never had anywhere else. In 2014 we were flying from Toronto to Hawaii and had a 3 hour layover in Vancouver, and going to Bubble Queen to catch up with a friend was the best way to spend that time. I have yet to forget about my magical Bubble Queen experience, so I decided to express my love for it via Yelp. I had the Orange Kit Kat, which tastes like an orange creamsicle with bits of Kit Kat blended in it. In other words, it was heavenly. It was sweet, thick and creamy, and unlike any bubble tea I've ever had in Toronto (it really isn't a tea, it's more like a smoothie/shake). We went during the lunch hour and the wait took some time for us to get our order and receive our drinks, but they can be overlooked because of decadence in a cup you get to enjoy. I tried the original and green apple with cinnamon. In Hong Kong, original is the usual flavor, so I'm not used to other flavors. I thought the green apple was only OK. They have a $5 special which includes 2 bubble teas & 1 chocolate bubble waffle. Unfortunately I'm not into chocolate, so I couldn't take advantage of the deal... Bubble Queen also has a wide range of bubble tea selections to fit every person's taste! These are all definitely worth a try!! Let's definitely establish that not all Bubble Queens are the same as the others. This one in particular has had the nicest staff I've met during all my Vancouver/Richmond trips so far, the place was aesthetic and it was quiet enough to just sit back and chill with friends. The quality of the boba was pretty good! I had two complicated orders but it also included just a normal milk tea which was prepared quickly and from what I can gather, it was well made! Not too sweet, I didn't feel bloated, and just enough ice. The bubble waffle itself was gooey, warm and an absolute must order if you have the room. What kind of a Chinese place opens late, closes early and on holidays? This time around, I went with the Ferrero Rocher slush and Oreo waffles. Both were pretty delicious and eased my annoyance with their hours and horrendously inconvenient location in a Richmond industrial mall park. Bubble Queen has a ton of really crazy drinks (with high prices boot-I think some of their drinks are in the $5-$6 range), so if you're in the mood to try something that's insanely more calorie filled than your normal bubble tea drinks, this is your place. We got plenty of time to make our choices and the drinks were made relatively quickly. The drinks that are special here are the candy flavored drinks. This is advertised by all the candy boxes they make and put around the restaurant and thus you get the idea that the candys are not artificial flavors, but actually from the candy itself. I also went one other time on a Friday night at around 9:30pm. This was very different since it was packed FULL and you couldn't even get inside once you open the door. It was difficult to order. But I guess that was peak hours. It took 30 minutes to get a drink that time... Altogether, the drinks are high quality here and the staff were relatively friendly. Had the white chocolate strawberry(added mochi) and the Ferraro shake(supposedly one of the most popular) and friends go the peanut butter something bubble waffle. The bubble waffles were no crispy enough though the flavouring was good and unique. I loved the mochi in my bubble waffle because it was in the whole waffle including the rims as you pull each individual bubble off. Most other places I've tried will have the invidious look mochi inside the bubble itself which is totally diff. The Ferraro shake was tasty though I can't imagine how many calories is in that thing! I love bubble queen! I remember when they were just a new shop facing Cambie Street and it was usually quiet... i'm happy to see them now booming. AMBIANCE: It's a very small, tight place - best for picking up or to-go orders. FOOD: Their bubble tea is AWESOME with a nice wide selection of unique flavours. Came here on a cold winter night at 11pm. The place was surprisingly packed and a long line up out the door. There are not that many late night options available so I guess a good number of people ended up here. The bubble teas are always amazing. I orders the mango flavoured mochi. However, the service was so disorganized that I think the owner needs to reevaluate the operational set up. The place is very small so it does not take many people to fill up the place. There is no orderly way for the cashier to take orders so it is whoever cuts in front of the cashier and get her attention gets to place an order. Mind you, this only happens when the place is packed. Then the next problem is that not everyone gets a number card so staff are either calling out numbers or calling out the name of the drink. So what happens if two people ordered the same drink? Also, it does not seem hard to steal someone else's drink when it is so chaotic. There is very limited seating. We lucked out and got a table just as the people sitting at the table left and patiently waited for our order. There were leftover empty drink containers, napkins and waffle bags at the table but there was no garbage can to clear the table ourselves. The only existing visible garbage can was overflowing with garbage and staff (I counted 6 staff members) were all too busy to clean up the front end as they were taking orders and making the orders. Someone in my group got her Oreo waffle before I received my drink. I asked a staff member the status of my drink and she tells me they are cooking the mochi. It would have been helpful if the cashier informed me that ahead of time so I would have gotten another drink. Finally, it was almost closing time and then the staff abruptly starts clearing tables when there are still customers sitting at the tables. Rather than give customers the warning that place was going to close in 5-10 minutes. Staff literally cuts into people's conversations and start clearing the tables. It seemed to be a mad dash to close the place before midnight as they do not get paid anytime after the official closing time? So we were ushered out quickly when we had not finished our drinks and waffle 10 mins before midnight by staff. Staff did thank us for stopping by when we exited. I love the drinks and waffles the place has to offer. The quality is there (ie real fruit, generous amount if candy). They also have those fancy toast in which you need to wait 30 mins. I ended up waiting 25 mins for my drink so that 30 mins is dependent on how busy they are. I think the owner should take a tip from McDonald's and have a paper ticket system so customers have a copy of their order and staff have a copy as well. Moving to a bigger place would help too. But I think this is wishful thinking on my part. I think I need to come to this place at the non rush hours if I have a bubble tea craving. read more

A couple of years ago, I literally came here every week because I was addicted to their mango fruit slush and my mom really likes their wheat germ milk teas. I came here once after they reopened after renovations and vowed never to come again! The renovated shop is much more open and less outdated. I like that they have a washroom! Something they didn't have before, which was a huge convenience. Why did I not want to come back? Long story short, I had accumulated stamps that I was unable to use after the store closed. The old card system was 9 stamps for $3.50 off or something similar. When I tried to use my stamps once the shop reopened, the cashier transferred all my stamps to the new system (6 stamps = 10%, 20 stamps = 20%, and 18 stamps = 30%). I had requested to use my stamps and they should honour what I presented, but nope. She went along and continued transferring my stamps to the new card. The new system is more catered to huger orders and not really fair for people who buy 1 or 2 drinks. Since that incident, I vowed never to come back. I also found their prices to have increased quite a bit - fresh fruit slushes ~$7+ for a small and their bubble waffles range from $5 - $8. My bf wanted to come because he was craving mochi bubble waffles and hasn't been here before. I just tagged along. Fine... I admit I had a couple bites of his bubble waffle. He ordered a matcha mochi bubble waffle (around $7-$8 after tax) and was slightly disappointed. He commented that the matcha flavour was weak and was overpowered by the buttery taste. Perhaps it was the moisture from the filling, but he was disappointed that the exterior of the waffle wasn't crunchy. I remember ordering this in the past and the mochi got tough really quick. However, this time I was surprised that the mochi remained soft even after cold. On the contrary, my bf preferred a tougher mochi with a better chew. Tips: - It would be best to call and order beforehand to avoid a wait. Their fresh mango cube bubble tea is something that I crave - frequently. It consists of a mango smoothie topped with fresh mango cubes and pearls. I've never had a bad experience when I've ordered this - so I think it's the safest bet in terms of bubble tea here. FYI: They ran out of regular pearls once, so I opted for the mini pearls and I actually like these a lot better! I'm sure their other flavors are great too, but I'm more of a fan of milk tea over any other type of bubble tea. I only opt for smoothies if they're made with fresh fruit, so I haven't tried any of their chocolate bar flavored options. (I've heard they're rather sweet.) I have tried their lavender milk tea, and I thought it was mediocre.. lacked flavor and just tasted very artificial. When it comes to milk tea, nothing tops the quality of Mr. Mustache. Their bubble waffles are pretty good - I've tried the matcha red bean, and they really load it up with red bean. My sis was craving for bubble tea. We checked Yelp and found good reviews for this place so thought we'd try it out. Bubble Queen is located in Pacific Plaza (Cambie and Odlin Crescent). There is a parkade but parking is a bit limited. So park as soon as you see an empty spot. As one reviewer mentioned, you cannot see this store from the parkade so you have to go out. It is not very obvious as there are no signs from the parkade. The store offers a lot of bubble tea choices. They even have bubble waffles with different flavors. I was full so I didn't try this, but I'll definitely give this a try next time. The mango cube poster caught our attention and another customer got this too so we ordered this. We added pearls and upsized it. The total came to $8.40! Service was fast. We got our bubble tea in a couple of minutes. As the name implies, there was lots of mango cubes on top. The pearls were chewy and were not too sweet. The mango smoothie was great -- you can taste real mangoes. The mango cubes were ripe and sweet. The price is a bit high, but I'd say it's worth it considering they serve you real fruit. read more

There has been a lot of bubble tea shops popping up in Richmond in the last 2 years and there has been a lot more competitions when it came to bubble waffles. I used to love the bubble waffles at Bubble Queen and competition was scarce. They were worth the wait, but the wait has never been THIS long. The waffles and drinks are still definitely delicious and sugary, and the service is efficient, but the management of the company is a little pathetic at this day and age. We have learned over the years that the best strategy is to call in our order to ensure we do not have to wait there for the duration of time. 30 min wait? no problem! Get there 30 minutes later and discover that we still have to wait...and at the end, it was a 1 HOUR wait time for 2 bubble waffles. That's a little ridiculous. On top of that, our second bubble waffle was given to a girl that came in after we arrived because she had complained about the wait time. So we had to sit with our first bubble waffle as it went cold, while they made our second one. That's bad customer service. We get penalized for being patient and paying more money for more product, while the girl behind us gets our bubble waffle. That is not ok. So my lesson is to complain to ensure I jump the line? Bubble Queen seriously has been a great bubble tea shop for awhile, I have always loved it. But for a company that has ran for so long, you would expect them to get more bubble waffle machines to keep up with demands. Never coming here again. Going to Bubble Tea Shop instead from now on because even if they are busy... SUPER busy. At least they have 4 bubble waffle machines to make their products. read more
