This past weekend Grayson and I went to the beautiful Azure Play Cafe! A special cafe where the owner, Ivan combines his love of baking with his love of parenting. Azure Play Cafe is place where parents can hang out with each other WHILE their little ones play in the children area. This cafe is meant to be a space for all ages. They do this by integrating a play space into the cafe and offering S.T.E.M. and cooking workshops for kids! This allows parents to come to the cafe without having to worry about their children getting bored during their stay. Azure Play Cafe put a lot of time and energy into their cafe menu design because they really wanted it to reflect the cafe's theme. They designed it to look like a magazine to make it unique and match the relaxing atmosphere of the cafe. It's really worth the look because all the photos in it are incredible! If you prefer to look at all their menu items at once, they have a list menu on their front door. They offer a variety of items including fruit salads, sweet soup, jiggly pancakes, waffles, shaved ice and vitamin C fruit drinks! While Grayson and I visited, we were told that their Super Vitamin C drinks and homemade cakes are one of their features. The owner and his wife went on a soul-searching trip to China and on this trip they discovered how to make these items under trained professionals. This allowed them to learn about how to combine ingredients to make the perfect creation. If you're down on Vitamin C, the super orange vitamin c drink is for you! This was similar to an orange juice in that it had a bright and refreshing taste but had the lightness of the tea infused. We were surprised as to how much it tasted like fresh orange juice because we didn't expect it to be like this at all!

February, 2020 I had been there a lot of times, since they opened. They are getting busy now... I had tried their.. Chinese date longan hot tea... it's good for your throat, warm up your body on freezing cold days. Worth to wait for 15 minutes. Mango sago drinks with coconut milk... their portion, quality and ingredients are different, everytime you order?! Mixed berries lychee drinks... different people made it differently?! Pancake with red bean and matcha ice cream.. it's good with extra matcha cream on top, if not.. it'll be tasteless. Pancake still puffy and soft since then.

‼New dessert place alert in Richmond BC‼ First of all we'd like to thank the team at azure play cafe for collaborating with us and for giving us an amazing experience! Thank you for having us! * We tried a variety of items here at azure. We had their soufflé jiggly pancakes in their matcha strawberry flavour ($12.95) strawberry and cream omelette cake ($3.75),super grapefruit drink (6.95) and their hot purple Thai rice with sesame ($7.95). * The matcha strawberry soufflé pancakes were super jiggly soft and delicious. Their matcha sauce was super thick and tasted amazing with their fresh strawberries! Presentation and taste was awesome! Worth the 20 minute wait. * Apart from that their strawberry and cream omelet cake was dense, and sweet. Their sweet cream was thick, and tasted good. It wasn't too heavy which was a good thing! * Their super grapefruit was super fresh! A lot of grapefruits inside so it was a bit strong but if you love grapefruits and the freshness go for it! You won't regret! (A bit sweet and sour from the grapefruit but overall super refreshing!) * And last but certainly not the least, the purple rice and sesame was an interesting taste. I've had both separate so it was cool to combine it. Conclusion: NOT BAD AT ALL! not too sweet and still a good combination! I love how we got it hot and how nicely it tasted with everything we got! * Can't wait to come back to try their shaved ice, and the mango mochi waffles!! Also it was An amazing collaboration so thank you!

Very average and nothing to write home about. We got the matcha and earl grey souffle pancakes. They were alright, but the sauces looked kind of artificial to me. I don't think this place is worth it. Then again, they only opened recently, so maybe they just need some time to sort themselves out.

Wonderful creative cake make my birthday full of joy. Cake is super fresh and smooth, lots of mango in between layers and the whole cake is covered with lychee- rose flavored cream. Good and Easy communication with Ivan, I got a cake exactly I want. Thank you Ivan & Lina!

We tried the combo pack with Durian, Purple Yam, Chestnut, and Mango, and every bite was delightful. The mochi wrapping is impressively thin, with a pillowy texture that makes each piece melt in your mouth. While I usually gravitate toward durian, the Chestnut and Purple Yam stole the show. You can really taste the effort and pride in the chestnut puree--it's smooth, rich, and perfectly balanced. The staff are warm, friendly, and clearly proud of their craft, which adds to the charm of the experience. This is absolutely one of those places worth lining up for. If you're in the mood for artisanal mochi that's made with care, Car's Dessert should be at the top of your list.

The dining space is small but the decoration inside makes you feel like you transported to a different country. Marshmallow Thick Toast 4/5 The toast was about an inch thick, well toasted outside with a pillowy soft center. There's some melted chocolate on the bottom that added to the smores vibe. The marshmallows on top weren't very thick, so it melted to an even layer with perfect browning. The toast was cut into 9 pieces so it can be shared but given the portion I think 1-2 people would be fitting for this dessert. We weren't too hungry, so we shared amongst 4. Jasmine Tea Jelly 4/5 I really liked how fragrant the jelly was and that the jelly was a softer jelly that reminds you of Aiyu jelly. The after taste was a bit bitter but I feel like that tells me it was brewed and made and not just bought to serve. It's served with a splash of half and half I believe. To-Go I wanted to try and compare all the tea flavored jellies they had, Jasmine, Oolong and Earl Grey Tea Jelly. Packaged with small packets of the half and half to add later. The best was OOLONG 5/5- it had a slight roasted tea flavor that was refreshing and comforting at the same time. What you would want from a milk tea. Second best was Jasmine - fragrant and less bitter than the one I had in restaurant, typical jasmine flavor that's lightly floral and not too heavy Earl Grey 3/5 - it was good if you like earl grey like me, but it has an intensely strong fragrance and flavor that might be off-putting if you're not used to the taste. It was by far the strongest floral taste and smell of the three. I'd definitely be back to get these to go, they carry well and you can cross borders with them :)

As you go in you are led to an area of Tsujiri where there are just tatami mats and no shoes are allowed on it. We were first sat down with matcha to start with and the music surrounding us was serene and calming. Then came the high tea, compared to your usual high tea, without the Japanese fusion. This came with a lot of interesting treats. In the middle tier, there was your savory two different types of onigiri, savory rice cakes, and elevated salad with a jelly. The salad was incredible and unlike anything I've had before. The onigiris were good as they should be so was the rice cakes. Top tier and bottom tier consisted of the desserts one plate for me and one plate for my boyfriend. My favorite was the mango mochi. It was so creamy and delicious! The other dessert was solid too, I like the little mousse cake. I also liked the add on of a matcha sauce for the fruits. Tsujiri definitely transformed high tea into a Japanese version and it was well put. Both usually make me full. I do wish there was more options on savories you could have before eating the sweets, but this is a slightly different experience.

We took a leap of faith in those Yelpers and headed our way to Babatang. Appeared tiny from the outside and was difficult to locate at first glance. Inside had an outdated decor but was way spacious than our assumption. An older gentleman who appeared to be the shop owner made all the drinks and desserts, while a lady who might be his wife was sitting on a big sofa behind the counter, watching him. We found it cute and funny. It took about 5 minutes or more to make each item. But nothing mentioned above mattered when every single food and drink made us sing nom nom nom~ Coconut drinks had a rich coconut taste, and wheelcakes were perfect to hold in hands and then in tummy on a cold, crisp winter day. We even ordered extra wheelcakes to go because its creamy golden custard, egged in steamy hot sponge cake, was so addictive. Don't let Babatang's looks fool you. I have learned over the years that I can appreciate red bean as a bubble tea drink if it's all blended up. However, it's the chunks of bean that I don't like, and this wheel cake had chunks of bean in it. Might have gone over better with me if it had been filled with a smooth, red bean paste...no chunks of bean in it. That's just personal preference though.
