I was craving an iced Milk Tea with Tapioca Balls and ventured into this Bubble Bubble Tea establishment. The ambiance is colorful and inviting. Unfortunately, the Milk Tea was rather sweet, although, the Tea flavoring was in the forefront, and that was a plus. Regrettably, the Tapioca Balls were not good. This place has friendly people that works here, and they are fast, and they do try to keep it clean, even with the dilapidated dirty 2020 calendar still stapled by the workers door. That's where the 2 stars are for. I ordered twice now, the brown sugar boba tea, one in a smoothie and one regular (tea xtra brown sugar). The smoothie one was so weak, i could not even taste the brown sugar flavor, it's just sweet with a hint of brown sugar, as if the brown sugar was in a nearby room, but not inside the actual drink. The second brown sugar boba tea I got, I paid extra for extra scoop of brown sugar, and it was still such a disappointment. It taste like they used actual brown sugar you get at Fred Meyers, instead of using the Korean brown sugar syrup, or maybe they just really water it down. I got the taro snow bubble tea with tapioca balls, and my brother got the coconut watermelon snow bubble tea with green apple jelly. They were both pretty flavorless. The toppings were ok, but the drinks themselves tasted more like plain shaved ice then the flavors they were supposed to be. Overall I wouldn't recommend coming here. read more

I came here desperately hoping they'd be the Quickly of Portland. They so were. Being only a month away from my beloved San Francisco, I was already craving Quickly. I saw this place during one of my first ventures into Beaverton Town Square, and it "quickly" (HA puns) went on my list of places to try. I walked in, and it was bright and cheery. Awesome place for a sweet drink after whatever you just did. Even in 50 degree weather I still wanted their drinks.. cold weather wont stop me from enjoying my drinks. I think quiet a few people will agree with me because there also was a group of people eagerly awaiting to get their drinks as well. What a delicious place for bubble tea! They also have free wifi so that you can have a short study break while you recharge your batteries on an addicting drink. So the drinks are good, and the service is wonderful. Although recently, their bubbles have seem to be not so well. I bought the Avacado smoothie with tapioca. Avacado for 24 oz, was $4.75 --- and an additional with bubbles make it all to around $5.75. Their bubbles were smaller, a bit rough and extremely not tasty. My friend bought the Mango boba which was flavorless, and rough texture of tapioca. I've been here quite often for years and I have no idea if they changed management or the recipes but everything tasted bland and not worth the money, if my drink is nearly 5 dollars, I want it to the perfection. I have gotten an peach Assam black tea with boba, black tea with lemon, and a milk tea as well. Firstly, the tea tasted sour and bland if they brewed the tea a couple times before serving as well as to cut cost of operations. The boba used to taste sweet, plump but none of that was applied but a bland tasting, hard center boba, which seems to be baldly cooked. I've been a frequent flyer at this business for years. My general rule when I try out a new bubble tea place is to try their original milk tea. Then I'll venture to new flavors for subsequent visits. I usually stick with coffee, almond, or original milk tea with boba. The flavors of the tea are delicious but I like my boba to have a little more flavor. My kids usually order taro milk tea or honeydew snow bubble with lychee jelly and boba mix. The flavors are bold and not watered down. They use powder to flavor the tea; I've known some bbt places to use liquid flavors. The first time in several years, I was asked for my ID tonight. I only grabbed my credit card when I left the house since I wasn't driving. My card was not signed so the cashier asked for my card. I'll admit I was annoyed but hey, he's doing his job. Don't get pissed at him for trying to protect card owners. And if you threaten to go elsewhere, then go! Reading some of the reviews on this place annoyed me. A couple of nights ago, we drove in from our hotel in Tigard (about 15 minutes away) hoping to get some awesome treat. It was located in a huge shopping complex in Beaverton with a parking lot that was still full of cars at 9pm. We got there an hour before they closed and promptly greeted by two very friendly women and they didn't rush us while we decided what we wanted to get. I always order a red bean smoothie whenever I go to a new bubble tea house, which I did this time, with half tapioca balls (a.k.a. pearls) and half lychee jelly. My 'smoothie' was over-mixed or under-iced as there was no semblance of crushed ice to call it a smoothie. Also, I'm not sure what they used for the red bean (probably not the real boiled beans) because I couldn't taste any red bean. It was just a cold, sweet milk mixture with ridiculously bad pearls. The pearls were tough and gluey at the same time and more tasteless than normal (probably didn't mix it in syrup after it was cooked). Pretty good boba tea I suppose. I say that because compared to Honey Toast, I think the boba tea here is much better (but maybe not as good as Blue Sky (now part of Mojo Crepes)). I came here with a group of friends after hiking and got the papaya boba tea with a green tea base. When my friend tried it, he said it tasted nothing like papaya. Which is true....you can taste the tea much stronger here, whereas at Mojo Crepes, the papaya flavor is stronger and you can't taste the tea as much. Regardless, I was pretty happy with my drink. The girls working behind the counter were very cute and friendly. I wonder if they have an issue with theft though, because I noticed that they lock the cupboard in their bathroom with a giant lock (that was hard to miss) and their fridge beside the counter had a menacing message about stealing. The first time I tried Boba in Portland... i almost died. Coming from LA county, the San Gabriel Valley, the 626, where there are asian restaurants and boba places pretty much everywhere, I have pretty high expectations in my milk tea and boba. I tried boba at a Vietnamese restaurant near the Portland Saturday Market, and omg... it was trash. Worst thing ever. So few boba balls, and they were hard as M&Ms... okay.... well not that hard... but you get the point... I even heard someone complain that "this is not drinkable".. Anyway, we were so relieved to find this place because this place exceeded our expectations by a mile. The boba was nice and chewy, and the drink tasted pretty good. Granted, they use powder, so I don't think it's too hard to mess up. I got the Taro Snow Bubble. A feeling of nostalgia came when I drank that taro drink... good times. This boba place is probably the best around. If you want boba, get it here. Please don't let one nasty boba experience ruin your perception of boba. At least this place does it alright. By far not the best boba I have had, but it's very doable and the best I have had around the Portland area. Visiting my family in Portland is always a great time. My home away from home for sure. Prior to leaving Portland. My sweet tooth kicked in and Bambu closes at 8:00pm on a Sunday night. I asked my my cousin where to go to get some good Boba and he recommended this particular spot. I had the family order their drinks first and everyone chooses the smoothie bobas. I'm the rebel and ordered a milk tea boba consisting of Chai/Almond flavors. It was just okay. The flavors were really bland for a chai with very subtle hints of any spices. I was excited to try their milk teas since that's all I would order when I frequent Ambrosia Cafe located in the International district in Seattle Washington. The milk tea was a huge let down here. The other bobas were fine but with sooo many other great locations scattered throughout Portland, this spot needs to step up their game big time to compete from a flavor standpoint. I enjoyed my lavender milk tea so that's why I'm giving it four stars, plus the boba was a good consistency. My friend's milk tea and honeydew milk tea were just average. Compared to others I have I do feel like the quality is not as high with authenticity. On Tuesday (4/16/2019) - i brought my friends in to get 4 drinks. Mango Snow bubble with mango jelly, Honeydew with strawberry jelly, Avocado with boba, and Jasmine tea with boba. The young gentleman that made our drinks messed up every single drink. I asked him just to redo one of them because this friend has never had bubble tea before, and i wanted to give him a good experience. He put boba in the honeydew when i asked for strawberry jelly. and instead of remaking the drink, he went into the back with the drink and picked out the boba and just put strawberry jelly in it, and resealed the drink, and when we got the drink back a quarter of it was missing. The Avocado with boba, tasteless, and the color was white. Tasted like water. No flavor, and the boba was rock solid. The mango, was super tart, and tasted like the blender wasn't washed before using again. The simple jasmine tea tasted like the tea had gone bad, and nobody wanted to either clean the machine or brew new tea. I used to go to bubble bubble all the time, but my last couple of visit have been short of good. I can't really write this review without sounding like a pervert of some sort so I'm just gonna say it. This place has really good tapioca balls. I've been cravin for some kind of boba drink since I'm not sure where to find them here and I'm very particular about the texture of the balls. Their balls are soft, sweet and chewy, just the way I like it. I hate it when some places don't care about the quality (tastes like a day old; too firm) but when they do, it's delicious. Their balls are a little on the small, piddly side, as I'm used to having much bigger (tapioca) balls to suck through the straw but they hit the spot nonetheless. I've only been here once for their bare bones basic milk tea so I can't really say much for their other flavors on their super extensive menu. The tapioca was overly cooked and was really soft and squishy. I had a hard time initially because the tapioca had actually clumped together and had no way of making it through the straw. I finished about 1/4 of my drink before I began to feel sick from the sweetness and couldn't continue any longer. My sister's original hot milk tea wasn't rating high either so we spent time outside seeing who could shoot the tapioca through our straws the furthest. Mature, I know. Our favorite bubble tea place closed down in Hillsboro and we were lost on what to do. We then found Bubble Bubble Tea. The staff is always friendly and smiling which is awesome. This place was a little different compared to the other place we went so the first time we went we were not sure what to order. The lady working walked us through the WHOLE menu. In the end we both found a drink that we love. The wait can be longer depending on how many people are the shop and have ordered. This place used to have the best bubble tea but they've recently started charging more for extra flavor while reducing the amount of flavor that goes into the base drink. This would be fine if the drink was cheap, but they're already charging 3.50/4.00 for the 16oz/20oz. The wait times have also become longer and they always run out of flavors or bubbles (but really... how does a bubble tea place run out of bubbles?!) On my last two visits to this location, I got the 16oz yogurt smoothie with no bubbles. Both times, there was so little flavor put into the drink it was literally just blended ice. What can I say....as long as people are civil/friendly and do their job with some care, I'm happy. I like this place! The people are friendly and they do their job. Sometimes the drinks are sweeter than other times, so there is probably a consistency issue, but 'ya know....it's only a drink. They have tons of flavors and ways to imbibe the sweet fruity flavors of "BOBA" as one reviewer explained to us. OMG! CHILL freaked-out BOBA girl! Boba or Bubble, it's not milk or anything real dairy...just a little cold artificial flavored drink with either jellies, or bubbles, or maybe have it warm if you like it better that way. It's fun after shopping for a refresher, or if walking around the area on a warm day. The place is usually clean, the staff are usually quick, the wait is usually short, and it's cute. I've only had 1x where it's had so-so bubbles. But then, I only come 1x every 2 months. We come for it as a treat, which is what it should be...a light drinkable treat. Now, go try it .....and don't expect soooooo much. This is not a health place people, just a cute little drink shop in a HUGE shopping mall. Try one of the fruity or flower flavors (I love the Rose snow bubble) and sit down for 10 minutes.
