I decided to check it out after a good friend raved about it--and I'm happy to report it absolutely lived up to the hype. I'll keep this short and sweet: I ordered the Ruby Grapefruit Li-Li Tea with green tea jelly, and it was legit. Incredibly flavorful, super fresh, and loaded with real grapefruit pulp. I went with 100% sugar (no regrets--just work out an extra hour afterward ). The balance of tart and sweet was spot on, and the quality really stands out compared to your average boba shop. Yes, the drinks aren't cheap, but they're worth every penny. You're paying for freshness and flavor, and it shows. The ambiance is clean, bright, and modern, and the service was solid. Drinks came out relatively quickly, even though it was busy. If you're tired of the same old average boba places, definitely give Macu Tea a try. Enjoy!

My friend got the strawberry Yakult, which was very sweet as it had the unmodified sugar level. I brought my laptop to do some work here, and they have sizable tables with adequate seating as most people don't stay inside once they get their drinks. The wifi was slow, but it was usable. It was also Christmas, and the store would become intermittently packed with people who were waiting for their drinks. I love their app, highly recommend it to pre-order through the app, it's extremely accurate in term of wait time and easy to use. However, there are a couple of downsides: their matcha is just average, their menu is a bit limited, and my favorite drinks are frustratingly often out of stock or out of season. My top recommendations are the Coconut Mango Boom, Cloud Jasmine Tea (basic but so good), Yuzu Oolong Tea, Brown Sugar Milk Tea, Mochi Yingde Black Milk Tea, Grapefruit Boom and the toasty/wheat-y Longji Cloud Milk Tea.

I will say, the tea here is very good. They actually sell tea, rather than just sugar water. You can taste it. And for that, I appreciate this place. I tried their Alpine Green Tea with boba. It was good. I came back a second time to try their Wintermelon Alpine Green Milk Tea and thought it was even better! Quality drinks and I can earn additional airline miles per order? I was never the biggest fan of 7 Leaves, as they never memorably shocked my taste buds or wowed me with their service as Chicha San Chen did. Still, I've come across this place enough times to recognize the regulars studying there and the fresh couples making this spot their first date. It's sad to see them go, but I hope the plaza finds a new business that captures the same kind of appeal in its own way. Brazilian Lemonade - Saw the ad and instantly knew I had to try it. As a Vietnamese, we're basically married to condensed milk like it's nobody's business. Brazilian lemonade is essentially lemon and condensed milk, so I knew this drink was calling my name. The first time I had this was at Chama, and I think I liked the flavor there more. This was still decent, but I tasted a stronger artificial lemon flavor compared to the more subtle one at Chama. Oolong Milk Tea (50%) - BOBA IS ON POINT, YO. This is probably one of the most fragrant oolong milk teas I've had in a long time. BF's favorite--strangely, the memory of this place convinced him to buy two pairs of socks. Okay. Hibiscus Tea - Such a great refresher. I would take this over a Starbucks Dragonfruit Refresher any day--my favorite of the three today. Overall, I'm glad we got two pairs of socks to remember them by, even though I know they still have other locations. This plaza is riddled with what feels like an infinite number of boba shops all competing for business, and 7 Leaves had one of the biggest spaces, so I'm sure the rent was brutal. Anyways... thanks for a pleasant last experience. We'll miss you.

I've visited many times and have been impressed with the consistency of both the tea and boba. My go-tos are the Cassia Black Tea, Dong Ding Oolong Tea, and Green Tea, all with Cream and Bubble. I typically order their drinks with less lce and light sugar, which have been perfect for me. Their fruit teas are also delicious, although I would definitely recommend reducing the sugar level to allow the tea flavor to shine through. The size of their drinks is also perfect for me; large enough to enjoy but small enough to not be overwhelming. At this location you can order at the kiosk or at the cashier, which helps to expedite the line especially when it gets busy. You could consider studying here, especially with its notably large tables, however seating is limited and it can get loud during rush hour. I would highly recommend Chi Cha San Chen, especially if you've never tried a high-quality, tea-forward milk or fruit tea.

I'm happy to say that the quality did not disappoint! What I love about CHICHA San Chen is that each drink is freshly brewed to order. Rather than preparing large batches of tea ahead of time, the tea is brewed individually when you place your order using their signature tea-press technology. You can really taste the difference--the tea is fragrant, fresh, and flavorful. My absolute favorite is the King Bubble Black Tea with Cream. The combination of the rich black tea, creamy topping, and chewy king pearls is just SO good! I was also pleasantly surprised that the Houston location still offers the Taro Series. The taro drinks are another favorite of mine, and it's wonderful to see that Houston has kept this part of the menu. After visiting CHICHA San Chen in different places, I can honestly say that Houston holds up beautifully. The tea quality, fresh preparation, and overall experience are exactly what I have come to expect from the brand. CHICHA San Chen never fails to deliver! Then something happened in the last year, and the hours fluctuated wildly over the last few months, socials were inconsistent, and phones went unanswered. By all accounts, it appears they've been closed since the start of 2026. Their Vietnamese coffees were one of the reasons I loved coming here. The Vietnamese coffee with sea salt foam, in particular, was a standout -- strong, rich, and just sweet enough to make each sip satisfying. The space itself was a big draw. They offered a private area for meetings, conferences, small events, along with very reliable WiFi. It was an easy place to settle in, get some work done, and enjoy a drink. On top of that, they carried imported snacks (#2) and a range of hot food items from Vietnamese fried dishes to Japanese-inspired bar food. Unfortunately, things started to decline over time. Menu items gradually became more unavailable, staffing seemed to thin out, and the overall experience suffered. During one of my last visits, the air conditioning wasn't working , and customers had to manually turn on fans just to make the space bearable.
