We were a bit turned off when we realized that the place was actually a bit farther away from the ocean than we thought. Another downside was that they did not have draft beer. We travel to Surfside regularly and were so excited to finally try this for the first time. Trying to get a smile on our waitress was near impossible. The waitress brought the kids meal with fries instead of the applesauce we ordered, and my flounder sandwich w fries instead of the sweet potato fries I'd ordered. She also forgot the lemonade my son's kids meal came with. So many mistakes on a very simple order... The food was ok, but not great. read more

Went here because we saw the lines out front & assumed it was great because of its popularity. It wasn't anything special though, so go somewhere with no lines. Food took a while, making me think it's going to be fresh & hot, but again I was wrong. Service was friendly, but slow. In total, it's average, but if you're on vacation, don't waste a meal here. read more

We decided to try bubba's fish shack for the first time while on vacation. Upon entering we were greeted by a friendly staff. The food was great! We were visiting family in Myrtle Beach for the 4th of July and decided to stop by Bubba's for dinner. There was a VERY long wait but we decided to wait for a spot at the bar which wasn't too bad. Bubba's isn't very big so there aren't a lot of places to sit. The food was fantastic, but it is primarily fried food. There isn't much fresh on the menu. We enjoyed our visit, but I will probably check out some of the other places around before deciding my favorite. read more

We had lunch, here, today. This has a great location across the road from the ocean. This is right in the center of downtown Surfside Beach. It has a lot of character, and a fun group of servers. I felt like I was truly getting southern service, with the friendly character that you'd expect! The food was very good, but not great. My wife and I had the catfish basket, which was very nice. The fries are standard, but the fish was very tender with a light breading that was good. One of the kids had grouper fingers, and I tasted one. Again, very good, but not the best of the week. Awesome find! Don't waste your money on a calabash buffet! Each of us got a "platter" and there was more than enough to go around plus our server was super sweet. We sat on the deck and loved the classic/southern rock playlist. read more

i ordered the bubalo shrimp and it was excellent and had the perfect amount of heat. The rest of my family also enjoyed the dishes they ordered. Our waiter was very nice and knew a lot about the menu and gave us all the information we needed. Any questions we asked he got right to it and made sure he asked us how everything was. My wife and I were planning on visting Myrtle Beach, so I did my research for good places to eat in the area, and was directed here. We ended up going here at some point during the middle of our week long vacation. I wished we had gone earlier so we could have ate their more than twice. We have some freinds that live a few hours away from Myrtle Beach. We told them about the place and it is now one of their favorite places to go when in the area. I brought family members from the west coast to Bubba's today based on reviews. Unfortunately they were unhappy with the flounder. It was thin and the skin was left on the flounder which they did not like at all. They had to peel it off which destroyed their sandwich. We had clams and fried catfish which was good. Sweet potato fries good but we would not recommend the flounder. I am sorry to say it was disappointing bringing our family here. read more

My family and I have come here for 10+ years, it's more of a tradition, than coming because it's incredible. Decent bar food, and you'll get a lot of it! But service just isn't there. You wait for your server to greet you, waitfor drinks, order appetizers that come out with your meal and once you get your food you never see your server until the check. Never got a refill. It's a cool place to take the family for a laid back dinner, but I just can't go over 3 stars :/ sorry bubba's!! read more

This place is pretty good. I personally found the breading on everything to be a bit bland. The fish itself was fresh and tasty, but bland. The mixed drinks are rather disappointing, didnt really taste alcohol in it. The raw oysters were enormous and fresh but definitely lacked any brininess or sweetness, for whatever reason. This restaurant has some of the best seafood I've ever had. I loved how you were able to write on the walls,doors, and picture frames and it was a very friendly atmosphere. They notify you by text message when your table is ready which is really nice if you choose to walk around. Our waiter David G was one of the best waiters I've ever had. He ALWAYS had a smile on his face and was very accommodating. That kind of customer service is unbeatable and made the experience that much better. And the FOOD!!! Oh my goodness, to die for. Everything was okay. I went with a large group of my friends and it was decent. All of the food we ordered was okay, especially the clam chowder. Delicious. However, my brother ordered a grilled cheese. He ended up with what I can only describe as a meatless, bun-flipped cheeseburger. A slice of cheese inside two burger buns flipped. My husband and I had lunch here today. Hillary was our waitress. We had a wonderful time. We tried the chowder, hush puppies, fried oysters, onion rings and waffle fries. More than enough food to share, though we eat all of it. The hush puppies were the best we've ever had, yummy with honey butter, we would go back just for them!!
