I see a lot of raving reviews here and I am not sure why. Pretty bluntly, you can get better food quality from McDonald's. There were some positives, like the calypso music, our waiter and the tasty 6 onion rings we ordered. My dried, overcooked fried scallops you needed a microscope to see, tasted like they were taken out of a box at the discount frozen food section at Food Lion. The baby fried shrimp were pretty much the same as the scallops. The Bubba Trash salad was a large proportioned everything salad that included precooked dry chicken pieces you can find near the Lunchables at that same Food Lion. Our drinks were watered down Titos and lemonade that I swear was from powder. There are lots of places to eat around here. I would skip this one. read more

We visited Bubba's for dinner on 10/18/25 - I ordered the Flounder Basket and my wife ordered the Popcorn Shrimp Basket - the food was excellent - fries , flounder, slaw and shrimp - service was good - the only problem was on your website you have posted price of $8.99 for each basket - when we received the bill they were $13.00 each - $4.01 difference per basket - I know your website menu shows prices may be incorrect but if someone was on a budget and had more than two people that would certainly be a shock when they received their bill. The service was excellent and the ambiance was good EXCEPT the elevator wasn't working and someone in our group was recovering from surgery and had a very difficult time with the stairs. This is a hard place for me to review. The food was great. The only thing that really bothered me was that this place is not for handicapped people. You have sixteen steps to go up and sixteen steps to go down. They have very shaky handrails to hold onto. They also will not seat you unless they can physically see your entire party. I decided to get a dozen oysters on the half shell and he watched me eat them. Very good. They have cocktail sauce and tartare sauce on the table. Dinner was a "snack" crab cake for me and the chicken sandwich for him. They were both great. At the end of the meal we wanted to share a dessert, but alas, they didn't have any. First thing you should know is the parking is free at Bubba's Fish Shack. Don't do like me and pay $7.30 for 2 hours of parking in the pay lot behind Bubba's. There was a food truck making a delivery and I didn't notice this fact until after I had already paid and walked around the truck. I ordered the all-you-can-eat catfish. The order had 3 huge filets, along with fries and hush puppies. It was all I could do to finish the fish and half my fries and half of the hush puppies. No way I could eat any extra fish. We found bubbas fish shack why'll cruising around and what was new to us was that you have to text a code for parking which was cool. We got seated in a nice area and ordered the pop corn shrimp and flounder it was amazing nice breading on the outside and not dripping with oil which was a plus. Definitely a tourist trap. Food is not good and doesn't show what Myrtle Beach is made of. Staff is great managers are non existent and try to complain and get nothing. Would leave zero stars if possible. I have worked in the service industry for over 20 years (serving, bartending, kitchen). I also am completely empathetic and understanding to restaurants being short staffed as a result of the pandemic. My family and I were camping in Myrtle Beach and chose one night to go out for dinner. Unfortunately for us, we chose Bubba's Fish Shack based on all the great reviews. We had a short wait for a Wednesday night and ordered some drinks while waiting. We sat outside on the patio. Here is the list of cons.... 1) Before our server came, the table behind us had a cock roach fall from the outdoor ceiling onto their table. Grossed out but we are outside and it didn't effect me. 2) Our server Daniel, who was working the load for 2 servers (not his fault he did his best) brought us a basket with silverware in it. My son pulled a long blonde hair out of one of the forks. I let it go.. because things happen. 3) Our beers went empty and sat that way for over 10 minutes. Knowing Daniel was slammed, i went to the bar and got our drinks. 4) Food comes. I had a blackened fish dish which was okay and my husband had a platter - decent. My daughter had the kids cheeseburger and my son had the Flounder sandwich. All was well until my son went to take his first bite. Thankfully the bread separated enough so that he could see the dead fly nestled in his sandwich. Nasty. My son lost his appetite. The manager offers to comp that meal and my daughters meal (least expensive meal). Then upon eating my blackened fish, I get a hard bite of the plastic wrapping that the fish must come in. The manager then comped my meal. In the end we still spent $60 for a terrible meal and experience. I've been on the other side of the table and try to be understanding- but this was awful. If it were me, the entire ticket would have been comped. Won't be back in this area anyway.... But just wanted to share for others that want a nice dinner. read more

I ordered the blacked grouper sandwich, excited because the last time I was able to get this was Florida, but to my dismay, the grouper must have only been 3.5 ounces. It was a sad display for a sandwich for $15.50. Mussels were a decent amount and tasty. I guess if you ordered any of their fried food it was a enough value for the price. We come to Murrells Inlet/Garden City area every single year. Sometimes twice a year. We ALWAYS make sure to stop by Bubbas. Every. Single. Time. The food is excellent. Service is amazing. And the atmosphere is so much fun! The sweet chili shrimp and fried pickles are 2 of our favorites that we always make sure we get. The drinks are tasty. My husband is allergic to alcohol, *gasp*, but, I always get a cocktail when we go. My husband loves their sweet tea. The way it SHOULD be made!
