Wife and I stopped here yesterday for lunch. We were greeted by really friendly hostess who was super helpful. Food came out fast and was top notch pulled pork. I'm going to give this place a 3 stars until I can upgrade it. I would like to try it again. I thought the food was very tasty my problem is I ordered a sandwich. they told me there would be 4 ounces of meat. I am on weight watchers, I weigh my food every day and when I pulled the top piece of bread off which I wasn't going to eat, It really only look like 2 oz to me and I was very disappointed. I should've brought the basket back and questioned it. I should've not ordered a sandwich since I'm not a bread either, but I was trying to save my boyfriend some $$, and just ordered the meat which they tell me would have been 6 ounces of meat. I will try next time to see if I change my rating. I used to like this place but had a terrible experience today. Granted, it was $5 for 2 sandwiches you would have to pay me to eat what I received today. I made some sides at home while my husband went to pick up the sandwiches. Well, the register was down so he had to wait for the manager to get things up and running. I could've dealt with that, even though the sides I made got cold, but the sandwiches where inedible. The bread was SOAKED with butter, soggy, and showed no evidence of toasting. It was like eating thin, raw dough. And my husband got A BONE in his sandwich. I don't know what changed, but it will be a while before we give this place a try again. :( read more

My husband was really excited to try this place because of the good reviews. I guess they gave us high expectations. We both got the Texas brisket sandwich. The meat was pretty tender, but there wasn't much meat on the sandwich. It was mostly bread. Also, the majority of the brisket was pure gross fat. The toast was burnt for both of us. My mac & cheese seemed like it came from a frozen dinner. It had no taste at all & was very soupy. The best thing about our food was the sauce. We enjoyed trying the different kinds. Not sure if it's worth the long wait & high price to go back though. read more

After watching BBQ Pitmasters we were craving some ribs and pulled pork so after a quick search we zipped on over. Got the ribs and pulled pork and both were good but as fast as they were brought to the table they sure weren't whipped up fresh. Only a few other patrons early on this sweltering Sunday and wasn't expecting a two minute wait, would of waited for fresh. All in all the ribs were good and the pulled pork hit the spot. Being from NC having some proper sauce was nice, and Cheerwine was unexpected and tea was good. Would of been nicer to have some sauce with some true heat, but still good sauce selection (Tractor Grease... love the name!). The beans and mac 'n cheese were good and although it wasn't Tuffy back there cooking, it hit the spot. read more

The food is pretty good. The only complaint I have is the chicken dinners and the chicken wings. The wings taste great but you have to pluck most of the feathers to eat them. This was on more than one occasion. The half chicken dinner the dark meat is awesome but the white meat is so dry you have to choke it down even with BBQ sauce. I would suggest you stick to everything NOT chicken. If I had to rate the NON chicken BBQ I would rate a 5. If I were to only rate the chicken I would give it a 2. Hope this helps. read more

Tried this place out today and I'm glad I did. Food was great. I tried the half chicken meal which came with two sides and a drink. Chicken was juice and perfectly cooked and fries and fried okra were delicious. The sweet tea was some of the best I've had. read more

In addition to the ripoff onion rings, another issue was discovered at Bubbaques in Brandon. Beware of the St. Louis ribs. Although they taste good, the cooks leave that translucent membrane on the back of the ribs. This results in a nasty inconvenience as this membrane is inedible. I can't think of why they would choose to leave this disgusting membrane on except, of course, for sloth and lassitude. Come on folks, you can do better. read more

This place in terms of its barbecue is very good and very underrated indeed. On my last visit to this place I got a quarter chicken with 2 sides of fries. I had go go up and order at the register like at a fast food restaurant or something but that's completely fine. My waitress brought the food to my table almost immedetly almost after I ordered it at the register and there it was, fresh and steamy right from the kitchen. To begin with, the fries had to take a few minutes to cool down which isn't really bad but can burn my taste buds sometimes. The actual taste of the fries was very moist, crisp, and filled with potato making it a masterpiece when paired with ketchup. The bread they give along with your meal wasn't like any bread I'd seen before. This was because the insides had been loaded with oil to emphasize the taste of the barbecue bread aesthetic. It tasted great and I would definetly have more of it in the future. Now, the quarter chicken did not look pleasing at first but emphasis on the word look since it in now way affects the taste of the actual chicken. It was until I peeled the skin off could I see fresh delicious chicken straight from a farm. The actual chicken meat was very good however, if you plan on going here and ordering chicken I highly recommend that you pair it with any of the sauces there. When they go along with chicken it's simply splendid! And after all that the total cost of the actual meal wasn't even that much. The atmosphere and food were just great! Best bbq in Brandon!!! Brisket melts in your mouth. Salads are amazing with lots of toppings. French fries are fresh & they have fried green beans which is hard to find. Had delivery from Bubbaques tonight via Mobilemeals.com. Baby back ribs were very meaty, tender and great spices. Husband and ai couldn't even finish a shared full rack. Also the Texas brisket was tender and delicious. Their corn nuggets are yummy. Mac n cheese was nice and creamy. Coleslaw, just ok. Our order was 100% accurate and delivered hot. Not a fan. The ribs we had were so salty I could hardly eat them. They also needed to be rendered longer. The chicken was very dry. We bought a dinner for 4 that was around $54 and we liked the Brisket and the baked beans were pretty good but for $54 I was disappointed. If you want GOOD bar B Que you do not get it from CHAIN restaurant franchises. It ranks with Sonny's in my mind. read more

Have visited 10+ times at various times of day. TL;DR at bottom. Food is always hot and fresh, exception is the cole slaw which seems canned. Vegetables and other sides always arrive steaming, which is surprisingly refreshing after too many heat-lamp meals. Meat has never been over or under-cooked. Sauces and sides are quite varied, enabling many different meals featuring the same meat. Order broccoli without butter to stay healthy, or try the fried tomatoes for a southern treat. Ordering at a counter and waiting for your food is fine, but having to wait for your drink when the fountain and cups are on YOUR side of the counter is strange. Dinner on weekends especially can make the restaurant feel small and understaffed- massive takeout orders can severely delay your meal. Slightly mis-sized middle table combined with an awful knee-bashing post under the booths can be hazardous for first-timers, but once you master the "bubba slide" you'll be leaving without bruises. TL;DR excellent sides, relatively plain meat countered by various sauces. Slightly pricey, watch your knees on booths. read more

There are many choices in this town for BBQ but this is always on my rotation. Mica has customer service down to a science. The entire staff is warm and friendly, the prices are extremely reasonable and the quality of food is fantastic. I mainly stop in for the sweet tea but the food is a bonus. When first opened this place was really good. But quality of the food has been steadily dropping for the last several months. The last time I went the food had apparently been reheated several times, the meat was completely dried out and burned, the french fries, sweet potato fries, baked beans, and macaroni and cheese were cooked to death. Every thing was over done, except for the garlic bread, which had been lightly toasted only on one side and had nothing in the way of butter or garlic on it. The barbq sauces which were originally very good as they have several different types have now all become watered down in a poor attempt to save money. I tried 3 different bottles from different tables and straight water came out, they didn't even try to mix it together. Lastly the dessert came and it was straight from Sam's club freezer. They served an apple turnover that was microwaved and the banana pudding was out of a box and not even Jello brand it was some off brand that was not even attempted to be doctored up with real bananas or vanilla wafers. What is happening here is very sad. This was a great place and they are killing themselves slowly with all the corners they are cutting. read more

nope not gonna pay for a microwaved chicken breast and baby back ribs. my baby backs were still SCALDING hot and wrapped in the ceran wrap when I opened them in my car in the to go container. yuck this place has business cause its visible on 60. two other places (down to the bone, and jammer-q) are off the road, less known and better. this is a chain - and one thats over the top in its stupid hillbilly motif. and also, in my opinion, people think this is great bbq cause of the price and their low standards. a dinky sandwich and frozen concession stand french fries are not my idea of quality food. but consider the source. the owners also own hungry howies pizza. read more

Pretty clean place, the service was quick and the staff was nice. The food was actually really good and the sweet tea was perfect. This restaurant has you order and pay at the counter, fill your own drinks, and bus your own table. That being said, the portion sizes are too small in general and the prices are too high for what you get. We ordered the green beans appetizer (pretty good, and a little spicy - but there was a small quantity of them), a pulled pork plate and a brisket plate, and one drink. The meat portions are about what you would put on a small-ish sandwich and the side dishes come out in little cups that I would estimate hold less than 4oz. The cost was almost $40 before tipping. I would expect that price tag with more of a "sit down" restaurant - not so much with a casual place like this. We won't be going back unless we have some serious coupons. read more

My fiance and I decided to try this place out tonight. I was impressed with how many options they had to choose from. We ordered our food, took a booth and were served our drinks very quickly. We waited maybe 15 minutes for our food. Everything looked delicious! The sweet tea was amazing and perfectly sweetened. The food was hot and fresh. I got the pulled pork, mac n cheese and sweet tater fries. The sweet tater fries tasted like they had just been cooked and were crispy and to die for! The pulled pork was good enough to have plain without having to add any bbq sauce. The mac n cheese was good - I have had better and have had worse. The slice of bread that came with my meal was toasted with butter and I was very pleased with it. My fiance got the beef brisket and mac n cheese too and he was very satisfied. This is one of my favorite barbecue places in Brandon / Valrico. Close by, fast friendly service, and a large menu. I usually get the pulled pork plate, but have also had their brisket and their ribs, and everything I've had had tasted great.
